Re Islam in Australia.

My own guess would be that the difference between Muslims in Australia and Muslims in the UK is simply that the Muslim population in Australia is not yet big enough - in absolute terms and also as a percentage of the total population - to have reached 'critical mass'; that point at which they feel themselves strong enough to really start getting brazen.

Interestingly enough, though, they are *not* the 'fastest growing religion' Down Under (though this is, of course, the boast they always make in every internet forum).

The fastest growing religion in Australia - possibly as a result of non-Muslim Indians leaving Muslim-pressured India, or fleeing from Bangladesh and Malaysia and Indonesia - is...HINDUISM.

And yet the Muslims get all the publicity...funny, that.

We had a special glossy booklet put out 'Learning From One Another', which was all about how everybody has to be nice to Muslims and accommodate Muslims becuz they is sooo speshul...

and yet despite it being the Hindu population that's growing fastest, and despite the *massive* and *real* cultural achievements and contributions of ancient Indian non-Muslim civilisation, the art, the architecture, the music, the dance, the mathematics...

**no** equivalent booklet explaining all about Hindu beliefs and practices and how to be tolerant and accommodating...(e.g. the vegetarianism). Maybe because Hindus aren't into self-pity and malignant narcissism like the Ummah is, and because they don't hatch plots to blow things up...

So long as the vast majority of those immigrating here from India are Hindu, Sikh, Parsee, nonreligious or Christian (there is a lovely family of Indian Christians in my own parish church) this doesn't bother me in the slightest...There is another family in my church whose eldest son, a medico, is marrying another doctor (workplace romance...) - who is a nice young lady from a Hindu family.

*Non-Muslim* Indians have been settling in Australia since the earliest days of the British Raj; there are Indo-Australian families that have been here as many generations as many Anglo-Scot-Irish families, and are usually intermarried with them.

And here it is: "Hinduism is the fastest growing religion" (though the atheists and agnostics seem to be doing alright, too, being now 22 percent of the population).

Further thought, re. India and Australia.

The Sanskrit-related languages of India are, of course, members of the same vast language family as English. And curiously enough, the latest dna and other investigations suggest that the closest genetic kin - in the rest of the world - to the **indigenous, Aboriginal Australians**, may be...the dark-skinned peoples of Southern India. (This is completely believable; the two groups of people do look very much alike, and in the bad old days when Aboriginal and many part-Aboriginal people's lives were rigidly bureaucratically controlled by something called 'The Act', some Aboriginal families eluded the net by passing themselves off as Indian - in some parts of Australia even in the height of the 'white australia' days, there were still enough people of Indian ethnicity for this tactic to work). So there are cultural reasons that connect non-Muslim Indians with the immigrant 'Western' culture of the dominant population in Australia, while there may well be an ancient genetic link between some non-Muslim Indians and the native people, the people whose ancestors were here before 1788.

So it would make far more sense for there to be thriving 'Schools of Indian Studies' in Australian universities - focusing on the HUUGE *non-Muslim* aspects of Indian history and culture, and linked *both* to the 'Classics/ History/ Language and Literature' departments *and* to the 'Aboriginal Studies' departments - than for there to be 'Schools of Islamic Studies'.

Hi DDA, it just goes to show when Muslims go to any country in the world they bring their Islamic "principles" of insan al husaniya of murder, rape, looting etc. These scumbags are only fit to live in their Islamic hell holes. They should be barred from entering any other country. They don't behave and live like human beings and hence are unfit to live with them!!
