Egypt: Blind Sheikh's son threatens U.S. Embassy employees

Morsi has already called for the Blind Sheikh, who plotted to murder thousands of Americans by bombing the World Trade Center and the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels in 1993 (although he only succeeded in bombing the first of those targets), so he will almost certainly bring up this issue when he comes to Washington to meet his foremost patron, Barack Obama. And if Obama wins reelection, he will probably comply.

The son of Omar Abdel Rahman, a Jama’a al-Islamiya leader known as the “Blind Sheikh” who was convicted of terrorism charges in the US in 1995, threatened to organize a protest at the US Embassy in Cairo and detain the employees inside.
Abdallah Abdel Rahman’s threat came during a press conference organized by the sheikh’s family near the highly fortified American embassy compound on Thursday evening.

Abdel Rahman demanded that President Mohamed Morsy intervene for the release of his father as he did in the case of Egyptian journalist Shaimaa Adel who was detained for nearly two weeks for covering protests in Sudan then flown back to Egypt on a plane with Morsy.

He called for applying the “principle of reciprocity,” saying that every American detained in Egypt should be put in solitary confinement and refused visitors like Egyptian prisoners are in the US. He said that his father has been treated badly in US prison.

Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman is “a wronged man whose case has been fabricated, and he should be retried because some witnesses retracted their statements, which they made because of pressure from the former regime,” said Aboud al-Zomor, a member of Jama’a al-Islamiya’s Shura Council who was in jail until the revolution for being involved in the assassination of former President Anwar Sadat.

Following the press conference, Abdel Rahman’s family distributed a statement to attendees that calls on Morsy to form a committee to visit the sheikh in prison, check his health and assign him legal counsel to file a lawsuit against the US Department of Justice over his long-term solitary confinement.

Predicting Rahman's fate is quite simple, it all depends on who wins in November. What's disturbingly telling, is that the Obama administration, did not immediately nor has it yet rejected this outrageous notion.

Obama's re-election will go down in history as America's greatest mistake. Two terms may just be enough to accomplish his goal of destroying our free enterprise system.

Omar Abdel Rahman is the poster child for the death penalty. He should've gotten his lethal injection long ago.

As for taking an Embassy hostage, I hope, if it happens, the USA has the gumption to take the Suez Canal hostage in return, with any country whose government-run media speaks in favor of the hostage-taking denied access, or smacked with a high user fee.

In a sane world, Egypt should get no 'aid' from US. Instead, after Israel, Egypt gets billions of US tax dollars, evern after terrorists:

"Taking the embassy hostage" would be an act of war. By international law, the embassy is sovereign US territory. Invading a US embassy is no different than invading the US mainland. Is Morsy ready for that?

If Obama is so good at ignoring the past harms to people, lets see him tell Blacks to "Get-Over" that Slavery thing and stop using it to excuse away the crime , or,their short-comings for the failures of Blacks in high-crime areas or Government housing welfare hell-holes that were nice places before people moved in.

This is really worrying. American presidents have a tendency not to do the right things when reelected for a second term. Bill Clinton didn't comply to the justified request of the Armenians to recognise the Ottoman genocide as such. He thought America would be better off being on good terms with Turkey which wasn't as bad as it's today, as Erdogaga wasn't in power.

We've got to rethink about lots of issues regarding Islam. But it only works when we do it all over the civilised world, as everybody has got more or less the same problems with Mahoundian terrorism. Normally I'm against capital punishment, but if the blind sheikh was dead we wouldn't have a problem. Tackling Islam needs a lot of rethinking. It's the problems of the third millenium.

We could give them the Blind Sheik.... right after they pay back all of the billions of dollars we have given them over the last 20 years, let the Coptic Christians destroy and burn down as many Mosques and Muslim owned businesses as the Muslims have over the past 20 years, and let the Copts kidnap, convert and enslave as many of their women and little girls as they have Coptic girls over the past 20 years. Agreed. And while Romney has seemed wishy-washy on Jihad at times, his recent strong stance on supporting Israel—together with his understanding that Iran represents a clear threat to us and our allies—tips the scale further as to the wisest choice in November.

But even this is false "reasoning". The "Blind Sheikh" isn't kept in solitary and denied visitors because he is Egyptian, or because he is Muslim, but because he presents an ongoing threat to the Untied States and the West, and regularly abuses his privileges.

This is not true of most—or, likely, *any*—American detainees in Egypt.
