I have no doubt whatsoever that Imam Rauf is jetting to Timbuktu as we speak, so as to explain to the Islamic supremacists there that they are misunderstanding Islam, and that Sharia is in fact completely benign and compatible with Western notions of human rights. BAMAKO — A Timbuktu man accused of drinking alcohol was given 40 lashes Monday by members of an Islamist group that has seized the north Malian city and imposed Islamic law there, witnesses said.
"A young man has just been lashed 40 times for drinking alcohol. The whipping took place in the Timbuktu market," a resident told AFP by phone.

"He is injured and was taken to hospital," the resident added, asking not to be identified.

Other witnesses confirmed the incident.

The Islamist group, Ansar Dine (Defenders of Faith), is one of several Al-Qaeda-linked groups that seized northern Mali amid a power vacuum opened by a March 22 military coup in the south.

The groups have been imposing sharia throughout their territory, and aim to spread the strict Islamic law to the rest of Mali.

A man and woman accused of having a child out of wedlock were given 100 lashes each in Timbuktu on June 20, and Ansar Dine has destroyed all the city's bars.

The group has also demolished most of the ancient city's shrines to Muslim saints, which the jihadists consider idolatrous.

Another Islamist group, the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO), has burnt cigarettes, whipped smokers and forbidden people to play football or watch television in territory under its control, provoking violent protests in May in the northern city of Gao.

I wonder how Nancy Pelosi and other left wing nuts would like sharia law in San Francisco. They certainly don't seem concerned about it and do their best to hinder the fight against Islam.

Here, as we read about another group of people now experiencing the full glory and benefit of Islam and its embedded religious laws, consider the thinking of these three CAIR founders:

1. Ibrahim Hooper

In a 1993 Minneapolis Star Tribune interview, Honest Ibe stated: "I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future, but I'm not going to do anything violent to promote that. I'm going to do it through education."

2. Nihad Awad

At the 2012 ICNA-MAS convention, Awad claimed that, since Islam first started, it has been opposed by..."people who are ignorant...by people who do not want to accept what Islam comes with; freedom of thought, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, liberty, justice for all, that's what Islam comes [with]. Some people oppose these things."

Wine (and any other form of alcohol) is prohibited by sharia.

However, judging by what we see, practically every other form of psycho-active substance - most notably qat or khat, opium and all its derivatives such as heroin, hashish, and cocaine [even though cocaine exactly like tobacco is a New World product and therefore theoretically would constitute bid'ah, innovation] seem to be perfectly halal for Muslims both to consume in quantity and to produce and to distribute and sell, in vast quantities.

Imam Rauf will also have to hurry up and sit down the new Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi and read him the riot act. How could Morsi have done what he did during...

There must be some nasty "out of context" misinterpretation of Morsi's position.

Maybe that's the reason why Clinton's motorcade was "pelted" in Egypt.

And to think that Anderson Cooper, of all people, has become such a staunch defender of Islam. Can someone please tell him the dire consequences he would suffer if he were a "citizen" of a country like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Somalia, Yemen, et al.; and declare publicly he was gay.

That shows how little people really UNDERSTAND what they are talking about.

Only 40 lashes? I thought it was 80 lashes for drinking...
Can't Mahoundians get anything right? Maybe they were just being nice...A hundred lashes is about right Q 24:2 for the couple with a child...As per Allah's instructions, the lashings were done in public and no compassion was shown...
Yes it's true, compassion is haram...Allah is very wise...He knows compassion does not get the job done properly...Only fury does that...Yes, it's a fact Mahoundians are furious...
Well, who can blame them, Allah makes me furious as well, but I don't lash anyone over it...I would lash Allah if I could catch him, but the bugger is slippery as a greased pig...Every time I think I have him cornered he gets away...

This is all terrible stuff. So let's cheer up. Let me retell the story of a poetic competition between a catholic priest and an Australian farmer. After having eliminated hundreds of famous and infamous poets in the competition,they were asked to compose a master poem that rhymes on "Timbuktu" in order to win the prize.

Priest:

"I have been a Father all my life,
have no children, have no wife,
read the bible through and through,
on my way to Timbuktu."

Farmer:

"Tim and I to Sydney went,
met three girls, cheap to rent,
they were three and we were two,
so I booked one and Tim ...."

Yes, I know, it's dirty, but I like it! ;-)
