Afghan soldier "ally" murders two more U.S. troops

That's twelve this month. They must not have avoided "arrogance" or respected Islam enough. And so the fool's errand in Afghanistan continues.

How long are the American people going to accept our troops serving as a shooting gallery for Afghan jihadis who are our putative allies?

"Two U.S. Troops Killed by Rogue Afghan Soldier," from Reuters, August 27 (thanks to Awake):

KABUL (Reuters) - A rogue Afghan soldier shot dead two U.S. troops in east Afghanistan on Monday, the NATO-led coalition said, the latest in a series of insider killings that have strained trust between the allies ahead of a 2014 pullout by foreign combat troops.
The deaths in Laghman province brought to 12 the number of foreign soldiers killed this month, prompting NATO to increase security against insider attacks, including requiring soldiers to carry loaded weapons at all times on base.

They also come a week after U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Martin Dempsey visited Kabul to talk about rogue shootings and urge Afghan officials to take tougher preventative action.

"ISAF troops returned fire, killing the ANA (Afghan National Army) soldier who committed the attack," the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.

There have been 33 insider attacks so far this year that have led to 42 coalition deaths. That is a sharp increase from 2011, when, during the whole year, 35 coalition troops were killed in such attacks, 24 of whom were American.

Afghanistan's government said on Wednesday it would re-examine the files of 350,000 soldiers and police to help curb rogue shootings of NATO personnel, but accused "foreign spies" of instigating the attacks.

The killings, many of which have been claimed by the Taliban as evidence of insurgent reach and infiltration, have eroded trust between the NATO-Afghan allies and are complicating plans for transition to Afghan security within two years.

NATO commanders have played down the threat of infiltration, blaming most of the shootings on stress or personal differences between Afghans and their Western advisers that ended at the point of a gun, a frequent occurrence in Afghanistan.

But the U.S. general leading NATO forces in Afghanistan acknowledged last Thursday that the Taliban could be traced to more insider attacks than previously acknowledged, accounting for about a quarter of the cases....

25% of the killings are being done by the Taliban. That means that 75% of them are being committed by regular, every-day followers of the "Religion of Peace", not those "fundamentalist" meanies in the Taliban.

Time to bomb them into oblivion and then bounce the rubble for a year or two.

Slavery in the bible:

Except for murder, slavery has got to be one of the most immoral things a person can do. Yet slavery is rampant throughout the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible clearly approves of slavery in many passages, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

Many Jews and Christians will try to ignore the moral problems of slavery by saying that these slaves were actually servants or indentured servants. Many translations of the Bible use the word "servant", "bondservant", or "manservant" instead of "slave" to make the Bible seem less immoral than it really is. While many slaves may have worked as household servants, that doesn't mean that they were not slaves who were bought, sold, and treated worse than livestock.

The following passage shows that slaves are clearly property to be bought and sold like livestock.

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

The following passage describes how the Hebrew slaves are to be treated.

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

Notice how they can get a male Hebrew slave to become a permanent slave by keeping his wife and children hostage until he says he wants to become a permanent slave. What kind of family values are these?

The following passage describes the sickening practice of sex slavery. How can anyone think it is moral to sell your own daughter as a sex slave?

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

So these are the Bible family values! A man can buy as many sex slaves as he wants as long as he feeds them, clothes them, and screws them!

What does the Bible say about beating slaves? It says you can beat both male and female slaves with a rod so hard that as long as they don't die right away you are cleared of any wrong doing.

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

You would think that Jesus and the New Testament would have a different view of slavery, but slavery is still approved of in the New Testament, as the following passages show.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

In the following parable, Jesus clearly approves of beating slaves even if they didn't know they were doing anything wrong.

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

They reported pervasive illicit drug use, massive thievery, personal instability, dishonesty, no integrity, incompetence, unsafe weapons handling, corrupt officers, no real NCO [non-commissioned officer] corps, covert alliances/informal treaties with insurgents, high AWOL rates, bad morale, laziness, repulsive hygiene, and the torture of dogs. Perceptions of civilians were also negative stemming from their insurgent sympathies and cruelty towards women and children.

[Specific elaborations on Afghan Muslim treatment of dogs, women, and children; pp. 44-45] Many US soldiers were appalled by the rampant torture of dogs and puppies they witnessed while being based with ANSF units. They found it unpalatable to befriend other men who had such primitive beliefs; the cultural gulf was too wide. They were repulsed by the abuse and neglect they observed in how children are treated in Afghan society. US soldiers largely reported that they did not care for Afghan civilians due to these factors as well as their suspected sympathies for the insurgents."

Jesus is here speaking of mercy against the strict demands of the Law.
In many cultures like Islamic ones there is no mercy. A thief has his hand amputated. Apostates are killed. A woman accused of adultery is stoned. I recommend you read the account in the Gospel of the woman caught in adultery. Jesus shows her mercy while everyone else wanted to stone her.

So what? Slavery was a given in the ancient world, and in most cultures and most societies throughout history. The passages you cite simple recognize that fact, and attempt to give the practice some moral regulation. You could cite other ancient law codes that also regulated slavery, such as passages from the Koran, or from Roman, Persian, Babylonian, Chinese, et al legal codes.
But it was in the Christian West that the practice of slavery first became morally repugnant, and it was there that the abolition movement began. Slavery had become virtually extinct in the Christian West by the time of the Renaissance; it remained only as a punishment for criminal offenses. The discovery of the Americas, the need for labor in the new territories, and the discovery of the existing West African slave trade combined to re-create the institution of slavery in the West. But there were critics, on moral grounds, of the new slavery from its very beginning, and by the mid-18th century abolition was gaining considerable support. The U.S. Constitution prohibited the import of new slaves after 1808, the French Revolution abolished slavery in France in the 1790's, and Britain outlawed slavery in its possession in 1807. But in the Moslem world there never was any abolition movement: slavery there was outlawed only when and where Moslem territories became part of Western empires, or (in countries never part of these empires) under extreme Western pressure. And in many Moslem countries slavery continued -- and still continues -- in practice.
To sum up: the Christian West found slavery morally wrong, and eliminated it; the Moslem world never did, ans still practices it.

I've long suspected that the torture of animals (by Muslims of all ages) is a common habit among Muslims, probably everywhere. It's only when the West is forced to intrude upon their culture and be with them up close and personal for months, years, that we see the maggots under the rocks of their "culture".

Your attempt to equate The Bible with Al Qur'an and The Torah as though they all had equal status nowadays totally ignores the development of Western societies over the last 300 years or so.

You're too stupid to read up on The Enlightenment, so I'll give a potted version using Al Qur'an and Islam as the example!!

Imagine that some Muslims decided to question the authority of Al Qur'an. They begin to study it as a text, not a divine gift from Allah. They discover that there are lots of mistakes, loan words, contradictions and lots of other problems.
This loosens the iron hold of the imams around the world. Some Muslims begin to openly say that Al Qur'an is actually a man-made text, and produce ample proof to support their claim. They attract support from a growing number of Muslims.
Islamic theocracies around the world try to hang on to power by force. They are resisted. Political parties that deny the existence of Allah rise and become popular. They are voted into power. They depoliticize Islam and form secular governments that permit people to become adherents of any religion they please. Sharia is replaced by secular law. Muslims are permitted by secular law to leave Islam and join any other religion they wish.
There are still mosques with fire-breathing imams railing against the wicked world, but no one pays them much attention. Very mad, very holy! But totally out of touch!
Finally, Islam becomes a bunch of harmless rituals and can, at last, join society as a respectable 'religion'. Al Qur'an remains as it is, but is recognized to be a flawed man-made text, thereby kicking away the main strut of the justification of jihad. Any remaining Jihadists are treated like the common criminals they are. End of ........

That would be the effect of The Enlightenment on Islam! And you wouldn't have to be a slave any more 'D'. You would be freed by Islam's own Enlightenment. No more clowning! Just think of it! Free!

'Because we Americans are supposed to "respect their noble culture" nothing whatsoever happened to that husband.

'In Iraq I worked in a team hunting down insurgents and ex bathhists.

'We raided a warehouse one night and killed and captured the scumbag terrorists that were there. In this warehouse we discovered what can only be described as a torture room.

'They chopped off limbs and rubbed sand and urine in them, raped, took blowtorches to them, pulled eyes out of their sockets, beat them with hammers and a ton of other inhumane garbage.

'When interrorgated the insurgents that were not killed in the firefight said they did it because it was justified to do it because it was in the Koran to kill Apostates and infidels.

'The scumbag Sadr militia insurgents caught in this were very proud of their work. They smiled when talking about it, joked about it, and even videotaped it so they could post it online.

'So whine all you want about the garbage that is in the old testament and whine about jesus all you want, it only makes you look dimwitted and uninformed.

'Whenever these terrorist scum got caught their immediate response was that they were following the Koran.
