American Taliban demands special accommodation, wants Muslim group prayer in prison

Remember, Lindh wasn't just "captured by U.S. troops in Afghanistan"; he was captured while engaging in hot warfare against American troops. He should have been tried for treason and executed. Having been saved by politically correct pusillanimity, now he wants special accommodation in prison so that he can practice Islam -- the same Islam that led him to go to Afghanistan and try to kill American troops there.

And the ACLU is helping him with this. Treason has now become "civil rights."

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An American-born Taliban fighter imprisoned in Indiana will try to convince a federal judge that his religious freedom trumps security concerns in a closely watched trial that will examine how far prisons can go to ensure security in the age of terrorism.
John Walker Lindh was expected to testify Monday in Indianapolis during the first day of the trial over prayer policies in a tightly restricted prison unit where he and other high-risk inmates have severely limited contact with the outside world.

Lindh, 31, a Muslim convert who was charged with supporting terrorists after he was captured by U.S. troops in Afghanistan and later pleaded guilty to lesser charges, claims his religious rights are being violated because the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, deprives him of daily group prayer.

Muslims are required to pray five times a day, and the Hanbali school to which Lindh belongs requires group prayer if it is possible. But inmates in the Communications Management Unit are allowed to pray together only once a week except during Ramadan. At other times, they must pray in their individual cells. Lindh says that doesn't meet the Quran's requirements and is inappropriate because he is forced to kneel in close proximity to his toilet.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana, which is representing Lindh, contends the policy violates a federal law barring the government from restricting religious activities without showing a compelling need....

The Taliban throws girls in fire for going to school. Are we going to make that an issue of religious liberty? How about women's rights? Or do you only complain about those when it's about free condoms?

Aren't prisons supposed to be centers of correction? What efforts are being made to de-programme this muslim robot? Or is it just business as usual: Koran reading and visits from the Imam aka Jihad-Indoctrinator until this wolf is released among the sheep once more.

If they keep giving into his demands for religious freedom, they will surely have to free him and send him back to the Taliban for more training. Or perhaps that training can be accommodated in the US by now, under the MB's watch, courtesy of Clinton and Obama.

Absolutely not! Group praying is one of the more dangerous aspects of that practice as it facilitates the suppression of individuality to the imposed group identity.

I came to that conclusion after reading about the psychology of gang rape. From Gang Rape: A Psychological Perspective of Group Dynamics. Rhonda Oneslager, oct 23, 2006.

"Social psychologists have defined three factors which may explain why groups are easily spurred into aggressive behavior. These factors are diffusion of responsibility, deindividuation, and modeling"

"Deindividuation refers to loss of self-awareness, including one's beliefs, morals, and standards, in a group setting. Loss of self is encouraged to promote group spirit or to prompt behavior that is viewed as unacceptable. Strong cohesion within a group can produce deindividuation by substituting a personal identity with it's own histories and beliefs."

Sounds familiar.

Of course it doesn't just apply to gang rape but does provide an extremely telling insight as to why gang rape is such a prevalent offence amongst perpetrators from all over the world who just happen to have just one thing in common.

The practice of group praying makes the practitioner more suseptable to succoming to mob psychology. Just as, I would posit, that submitting to hypnosis makes one more suseptable to future hypnosis attempts.

So no group praying!

Furthermore I would posit that this suggests one key to the elimination of Islam as an antisocial force.

Encourage the desirability of individuality and dissincourage the desireability of submitting to group identity.

And here's the kicker. It isn't a religion. You can't be arrested in islamic countries for preaching individuality. It's books aren't enemy religious texts. It requires absolutely no reference to religion or mohammad ever.

And here's the field goal. It's happening already thanks to the internet which encourages and rewards individuality of personal expression. Indeed, most of the rewards are immediate in nature.

so how do we find ways to inspire and immediately reward individuality in the islamic world?

Internet based arts competitions with immediate social rewards comes to mind.

The ACLU shows its true colors and agenda by demanding that this convicted terrorist traitor's demands that he be allowed to "pray" with other terrorists be accommodated, regardless of the security risk...while rushing hysterically to court every time a high school football team takes a moment to pray together before a game. Its time to reverse the squeaky wheel syndrome the more demand the less they get. Don't they have solitary confinement cells in prisons or did they take them out to put the sauna's in?
