I find it disturbing that Muslims tend to get away with pissing anyone off from top to bottom including Judges throughout the country. If it was me or someone who is not standing up for Islam, this case would been closed way back. I think the person who committed such a crime in the US military would been long incinerated and spat on for thousand years. I don't believe the real issue here is whether this miserable piece of human waste will indeed agree to shave his beard as much as the strong and tragic indication of the American Judicial system's utter failure at being able to carry out it's primary mandate of justice. "With justice for all" has a rather hollow these days.

I am all for this mockery of our legal system to continue. That way few more clueless liberals may learn how these "soldiers of ALLAH" are ready to kill any and all of us infidels as dictated by their perfect man MOHAMMAD.

It should be repeated that the reason the this villain will not shave of his Islamic beard is because he is a murderous Muslim who has engaged at Fort Hood in the heinous and brutal actions of Islam's militant jihadism. His religion drove him to it. He was and is a Muslim who is a jihadist.
Therefore ,he is guilty of murder and likewise his religion,Islam, is also guilty of Murder.

This has more to do with defiance and contempt than anything else. Hasan was clean shaven before he murdered his fellow soldiers. His mind set then, was to kill for the sake of Allah and Islam. His mind set now, is to be contemptuously defiant for the same reasons.

Unlike these demonically possessed murderers for Allah and Islam, we as a civilised society, will never debase ourselves by having someone force shaved. However, this needs to be said by the court and Hasan demeaned for it, before he's allowed to enter the court room with his unshaven face.

This Fort Hood shooter yelled out "Allahu Akbar" all the while his was commiting these viscious and muredrous acts of jihadism. Then to top this all off some PC people try to call what happen just an act of "work place violence." So, I guess Nidal Hasan's next step is to fake a 20 year coma, and hope everything blows over.

The jury's still out (pun intended) on whether enemy terrorists who do not abide by Geneva Convention rules should be, by those same rules to which the USA subscribes, afforded a trial before execution after they have killed our citizens and/or our military personnel. I have yet to see evidence that a trial is required for such.

Part of the definition of a non-Geneva-compliant combatant is that they don't wear uniforms. Even if Hasan had been wearing the American uniform we stupidly issued him, that would not qualify as complying with Geneva, since he would arguably have been wearing that uniform to deceive in order to destroy, not to uphold, what the uniform stands for. As it is, however, on the day of his putting jihad into full-blooded practice, he donned Islamic garb; which, perhaps, should be deemed an enemy uniform, but which nevertheless is not -- and thus should contribute to his non-Geneva-compliant definition, under which, again, I have yet to see evidence of a requirement for a trial prior to execution.

P.S.: I recall that the Muslim-American (apologies for that indigestible hyphenation) Sergeant who killed fellow American soldiers in Iraq a few years ago was executed swiftly by the Bush Administration. I don't recall any trial, much less an O.J.ishly protracted one.

I noted before this has entered the bureaucratic 'too hard' basket (1.Prisoner must be shaved, 2.Prisoner refuses, 3.can't use force,... so stalemate) and that the only 'out' is to command the judge to acquiesce or be replaced.

Despite Hasan's own, delusional belief, he's not, as one poster suggests, an "enemy terrorist".

He is--I hate this part, an "alleged" murderer who remains (per the rules) a U.S. Army Major until the appropriate time.

The rules, disgusting as this situation seems, is still the rules.

If he had jumped up and down screaming at the top of his lungs that he is a jihadi "on a mission from God", he would not have simply been politely sent home as a civilian.

If you google JAG Operational Law Handbook, you will find the instructions/rules for cases such as this. More interesting, the Office of Military Commissions has a page with open cases to view. I wasn't really amazed at all the Arabic/Muslamic names of defendants. This is the place of places to research just how far down the road we've gone with military justice. Can't blame it all on the Eddie Slovik case of 1944 or the Lt. Callie case of 1971.
