This reminds me that I've been wrong about my advocacy of executing Muslim terrorists without a trial: We should keep them alive -- at least for a while, for creative and unusual interrogation for valuable intel that could save lives.

Now, Islamic Egypt, Islamic Morocco, Islamic Saudi Arabia, are completely to be expected. Egypt is 87 % Muslim, Morocco is 99.9 % Muslim, and Saudi Arabia is 93 %, with its seven percent non-Muslims, all expats, most of them dirt-poor de facto slaves, ferociously repressed.

Nor are Kenya, Kazakhstan and the UK entirely unexpected. Kazakhstan is majority-Muslim and Kenya and the UK have large and aggressive Mohammedan colonies. And wherever there are Muslims, sooner or later there will be jihad plots and plotters...

Kazakhstan became Islamic by the usual violent processes during the middle ages (from circa 1043); during the period of Soviet rule, when all religion was suppressed, a large-ish chunk of the population became nonreligious and those who remained Muslim became somewhat less fanatical perforce).

In 2001, according to my Christian sourcebook of that date, 'Operation World', Kazakhstan was about 60 percent actively-identifying as Muslim, about 15 percent nonreligious (i.e secular and/ or marxist) and about 24 percent Christian, with the remainder comprising shamanists, Buddhists, and Jews.

Christians have made inroads among both Muslims and non-religious (there is a lively, growing Kazakh-speaking church, and the Bible has been translated into Kazakh

and is circulating briskly);

but Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey have been funding huge da'wa and mosque-building programs to ginger up Jihad and sharia-mindedness among the Muslims.

At present, the Kazakh authorities seem to be keeping the most zealous sharia-pushers in check; the country is not described as an Islamic state, and Islam is not the official religion, nor is sharia listed as the main source of law. But there are obviously jihad plotters in Kazakhstan, for Mr Merah to communicate with.

Religions (somewhat different breakdown from my other source; the difference is probably in where the 'nonreligious' are placed):
Muslim 47%, Russian Orthodox 44%, Protestant 2%, other 7%

As for Kenya, it is 78 percent Christian, 10 percent animist, 10 percent Muslim, and 2 percent 'other' (mostly Hindu among the Indian immigrant community). The Muslims punch 'above their weight' as always; they have demanded sharia courts. At present Kenya officially has freedom of religion and non-Muslims (mostly Christians) are well represented in government. They have a huge problem with cross-border Muslim ghazi raids into the country out of Somalia; and there are British-born jihadists lurking within the country as well.

UK...well, we all know the problems *there*, all one has to do is think of Melanie Phillips' 'Londonistan'...

But: BHUTAN???

Bhutan is officially a Buddhist state and *all* other belief-systems are strongly repressed. Its civil law is 'based on Buddhist religious law'.

Note: my Christian source, Operation World (2001), relying on census data and other sources of info immediately prior to that date, gave the stats then (ten years ago) as Buddhist 72 %, Hindu 23 %, Muslim 4 %, 'traditional ethnic' [i.e. not formally Buddhist or Hindu] 0.5 %, and Christian 0.46%.

Sooo...if Muslims are not a big enough presence in Bhutan to even warrant a mention in the CIA factbook on the country for 2012, and if they comprised 4 percent according to my other source of information (and Bhutan had, in 2001, ruthlessly expelled a lot of its Nepali population - whether Hindu, Muslim or Christian - out of the country, so I doubt they would show much consideration to the easily-offending 'feelings' of Mohammedans). what on *earth* is going on subterraneously in **Bhutan**, that Mohammed Merah is making phonecalls to somebody - presumably a jihad-minded Muslim - **there**??

Memo to the Bhutanese government: if you've got any Muslims, boot 'em out. You don't have many and you do not want any more. Your repression, harassment and persecution/ ethnic cleansing of Christians and HIndus is one thing - it really is a violation of human rights, and is cruel and unnecessary - but evicting Muslims is quite another thing, and really would promote the common good of all other Bhutanese.
