BTW I was struck by the way that Shahrkhani looks like a (heavy-browed) white woman, while Al-Malki looks almost negroid (if that's a word you can still say).

We see the reality on the streets, whereas many moneyed people in leafy suburbia and rustic isolation are so into their tennis and croquet that they are divorced from the realities of immediate danger. But not so Shahrkhani. Her sin is that she competed in "form fitting clothes" (even the hijab was form fitting) in front of men. Now this was a terrible sin and she has thereby "jeopardized her place in the afterlife".

If you look at the pictures her act was really arousing. Have a look at the pictures. I am sure many men were terribly aroused at the sight, thereby jeapordising our chances to get the houris. Now for that terrible sin surely she deserves eternal torture in hell.

But one wonders what "her place in the afterlife" might be. The rewards of men are spelt out in graphic detail but women... maybe their reward is they get to watch?
