Hypocrisy: Hamas-linked CAIR opposes antisemitism resolution because it "stifles robust political debate on university campuses"

I don't support restrictions on the freedom of speech, but the hypocrisy of Hamas-linked CAIR's stance here is striking. The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which does all it can to shut down robust political debate when it is engaged in by counter-jihadists, has at last come out in favor of the freedom of speech! There's just one catch: they're opposing a resolution that would ban antisemitic activity. Leave it to Hamas-linked CAIR to come down on the side of Islamic antisemitism and hate, and who cares if they're inconsistent? The dhimmi mainstream media will never call them on it. But after Hamas-linked CAIR has worked for years to get me and others banned from college campuses, and refuses to debate or discuss issues with me, the idea of their coming down in favor of "robust political debate" made me grin.

"UC rejects anti-Semitism resolution," by Nanette Asimov in the San Francisco Chronicle, August 28 (thanks to Mackie):

The University of California says it won't support a resolution condemning anti-Semitism on campus - approved unanimously by the state Assembly on Tuesday - because the resolution says "no public resources will be allowed to be used for any anti-Semitic or any intolerant agitation."

"We think it's problematic because of First Amendment concerns," said Steve Montiel, a UC spokesman.

The nonbinding resolution, says, in effect, that UC and other public universities should ban activity that could be interpreted as intolerant or anti-Semitic, including certain demonstrations, from taking place anywhere on its property.

The move is the latest chapter in a debate that arose this summer over whether students create an intolerable, anti-Semitic environment by staging annual, anti-Israel protests mimicking Israeli guards questioning Palestinians....

Student groups and the [Hamas-linked] Council on American-Islamic relations planned to send a letter Tuesday evening asking the Legislature to reconsider its "highly ideological resolution." At the same time, a Los Angeles nonprofit called Stand With Us, which fights anti-Semitism, said its petition urging UC to ban hate speech has 1,600 signatures so far.

"CAIR Says Assembly Resolution Stifles Discussion on California Campuses," from Hamas-linked CAIR-California, August 29 (thanks to Hussam Ayloush):

(SACRAMENTO, CA, 8/29/12) -- The California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA), along with nine community, legal, and student organizations, sent a letter to lawmakers in the state about House Resolution 35, which passed in the California Assembly yesterday, because it stifles robust political debate on university campuses. The letter urges lawmakers to reconsider the issue when they reconvene in January.

The California General Assembly has the Constitutional Authority and RESPONSIBILIYY to OVERSEE and FUND the 2- STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEMS,UC & Cal State minus ,of course private tuitions paid by students.
The UC CANNOT REFUSE and even if it's a non-binding Resolution,it's NOT SMART to BITE the HAND THAT FEEDS THEM,especially in a CLEAR case of RIGHT vs WRONG.
Maybe this is what's NEEDED to enact some laws enabling the State to CLEAN HOUSE in its Public Universities starting with the CESSPOOL known as UC- Berkley.

"the idea of their coming down in favor of "robust political debate" made me grin."....Yes that me me laugh too!
"stifles robust political debate on university campuses"... Like they never do that!?!

Call their bluff.

If they want to be free to scream 'Death to the Jooz' 'Death to Israel' on campus, and hold their agitprop plays about those oh-so-evil checkpoints that stop people with explosives strapped to their bodies from slipping through into Israel to kill Jews, then they should be required to let well alone when the Jews and Friends of Israel on campus hold 'We Love Israel' rallies.

There is a further question; what exactly *is* it like for identifiable Jews- whether admin, support staff, students or faculty members - on the University of California campus?

How safe do identifiably- Jewish students, faculty, or staff feel when they are on campus?

Have there been attacks upon, or threats against, Jews on the campus, whether targeting them as Jews, or with the claimed excuse of their alleged association with or support for Israel?

How easy is it for Jews, and non-Jewish Friends of Israel, to hold functions - such as dinners, rallies, meetings, public lectures - on University grounds and in University buildings?

Very well, then. Someone ought to bring a class action lawsuit against CAIR, the SPLC, student governments at universities across the country, and perhaps the universities themselves charging them with conspiracy to deny others of their civil rights.

I think as long as they allow debate about Islam, it might work. I suggest Robert Spencer represent the "cons" of the religion. It's always one way with Muslims--they have nothing to support their BS

Interestingly, I fail to see any clear, precise, explicit position proffered by Jihad Watch on this resolution.

But, apparently, we're supposed to steer clear of the rocky shoals of both restrictions on free speech, and coming down on the side of anti-semitism and hate.

So what exactly, precisely is Jihad Watch's position on this resolution, and how does said position avoid any trace of hypocrisy and completely uphold both a respect for so-called free speech and unyielding opposition to so-called anti-semitism and hate?

But after Hamas-linked CAIR has worked for years to get me and others banned from college campuses, and refuses to debate or discuss issues with me, the idea of their coming down in favor of "robust political debate" made me grin.
.................................

"Robust political debate"—clearly, a cardinal virtue of Islam...sarc/off

But they'll use *our* commitment to robust political debate in this instance—as long as they can use it against the hated Jooooos.

It can be difficult to categorize, DDA—on the one hand, it's *nothing* like the situation in much of Europe, where antisemitism is pretty naked and often violent.

On the other hand, it is increasingly common for antisemitism to come lightly cloaked in concern for the "Palestinians", who are frequently presented as "oppressed indigenous peoples", and Israelis as "occupying colonialists", despite the fact that this is entirely unhistorical. Jews are frequently attacked in this manner.

Muslims are still a small minority in California—but the Muslim Students Association (MSA) is ugly and in your face.

Generally, things are getting worse from everything I have seen.

Here's some more on the MSA:
