Ingushetia: Jihadis murder six policemen with bomb at funeral of policeman killed earlier

They are adherents of Sharia who want to establish an Islamic state: "Russia is fighting a simmering Islamist insurgency in the Caucasus, mostly in Dagestan and Ingushetia, which see regular attacks that officials blame on militants seeking to establish an Islamic state across the Russian Caucasus."

Six policemen died in the volatile Russian Caucasus region of Ingushetia early Sunday after a bomb went off at the funeral of a colleague, Russian news agencies reported.
"As the policemen entered the yard of the house where the funeral was taking place, a powerful blast went off. As a result of the explosion, six policemen died on the spot and there are many wounded," a spokesman for the regional Investigative Committee told the Interfax news agency....

The funeral was for a fellow officer killed in a shooting on Saturday evening in the Malgobek district in the north of the region, Interfax reported.

The explosion came hours after masked gunmen opened fire in a mosque in Dagestan on Saturday evening as worshippers celebrated the end of Ramadan, wounding eight and leaving an explosive device that was later deactivated.

Now, I'll *bet* that this bit would bear further looking into.

I don't trust the potted history in which the Ingush are represented as being entirely innocent victims of Russian imperialism both Tsarist and Soviet.

Not if they were Muslims. I'll BET they were conducting jihad raids against Christian and pagan Russians from the moment they became Muslim.

Anyway, current population guesstimates:

Ethnic groups:

Shafiites, eh?

That's the same school of Sharia as in Islamic Egypt; the school of sharia that declares FGM - "by cutting out the clitoris" - to be **obligatory"".

I've done a bit more fossicking around the internet.

Can't find out the names of the policemen who were killed, which might tell us whether they were Muslims or not.

At this link, you can find out the name of the policeman at whose funeral the attack took place.

"A suicide bomber blew himself up on Sunday at the funeral of policeman Ilez Korigov, killed by gunfire the day before."

I don't know enough about the region to be able to tell whether 'Ilez Korigov' is a Muslim or non-Muslim name. 'Ilez' might be a reflex of 'Elias' which I think is used by some Muslims as well as by Christians.

There is a further ghastly detail that the 'Jakarta Post' version of the AFP report on the attack - the one that Mr Spencer linked - omits.

But it's in the AFP version as given by the 'Herald/Sun':

“According to preliminary results, it was a suicide bomber who blew himself up at the mourning ceremony,” RIA Novosti quoted the secretary of the Region’s Security Council as saying.

“**A head of a man whom nobody was able to identify was found several meters from the site of the bombing,”** {my emphasis - dda} Interfax news agency reported, quoting a source in the Republic’s police agency. “It may suggest the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.”'

Note: I remember reading somewhere that this is one of the *classic* marks of a suicide murder-'martyr' bombing, at least, the kind carried out using an explosive vest. **They blow their own stupid heads off**. Beheading themselves...ICK.

Latest update is that they think they've identified the 'blow my own head off and blow myself to bits whilst attacking those I deem insufficiently Islamic' murder-'martyr'.

"Law enforcement agencies of Ingushetia have released the name of the alleged perpetrator of the attack: he is presumably 34-year-old resident of Sunzha district Khamzat Aldiyev, who is on the wanted list as a member of clandestine armed gangs."
