Iranian Muslim cleric says Islamic unity will obliterate Israel

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. If it takes Moslem unity to make Israel disappear, does that mean the ayatollah wants all the Shiites to convert to Sunnism? Somehow I don't think so. But the alternative -- that the 85% majority Sunnis would all convert to Shiitism -- is even more unlikely. So it looks like Moslem unity is a long way off.

Of course that could happen. But I get the sense that Achmad and the mullahs want to go it alone with their Shia allies. I sense that they believe that Allah has specially chosen them for the honor of destroying Israel; that they will succeed where Sunnis have failed after decades of jihad. And that once Israel is obliterated Sunnis will see it as a divine sign that Iranian theocratic Shi'ism is true, supreme Islam and convert en masse forming a new caliphate.

I suspect that this mullah has mulled over the Six Day War every which way to Sunday, and feels rankled, rankled, rankled.

Bingo: Remember the left hand is the unclean hand, so it's probably been up Ahmedinejad's fudge tunnel.

From what I read here at Jihad Watch...thanks, Robert Spencer...vagueness, flexibility, and extreme clerical elasticity are hallmarks of our Muslim enemies. Their mere words mean nothing at all.

I keep trying to emphasize that we Americans are actually pretty insular and unsophisticated in the ways of the World. Our fortunate material circumstances [depressions and recessions and unemployment notwithstanding...] have enabled us Americans to avoid the daily life and death routine risks of Asia. Starvation and lurking neighborhood butchery are pretty much unknowns, even in our inner cities with their feral male youth strutting around and trying out their newly emerging masculinity.

We know nothing at all, really, about "face" and its absolute vital importance in hour by hour social interactions among Asians. All Asians.

That's why I cringe whenever the State Department spokesmen or that hapless White House press coordinator make "statements". Basicly, they don't really know what they're talking about. They simply don't have the necessary background. It's all Group Think.

In a sense, all of this undisguised unsophistication is a back-handed compliment to the American System....but that doesn't help us at all in fighting wars in Asia.

That's why it's appropriate to say here, as Softly Bob has, that things will get worse for us Americans before they get better.

Our overwhelming military might is absolutely no help against a Muslim man wearing a Muslim woman's black head-to-toe shroud with a suicide vest being admitted to an "ecumenical" conference on the warmth of "diversity" and "all-inclusiveness".

Simply stated, we Americans remain pretty much naifs......compounded immediately by that chameleon we've elected...WE'VE...elected as our current President.

Now, Dear Readers, combine my cheerful "commentary" here with our continuing, collective ostrich-like ignorance of the Muslims' Soviet style infiltration and subversion.

Often, I mention that as one who remembers the sneak Japanese air attack on Hawaii in 1941 vividly, I simply cannot understand our decade-long avoidance of the fact that we Americans are indeed at War with the Muslims and their barbaric Islam. The Muslims don't care how long "it" takes. They've been at "it" since the 700's A.D.

"It", of course being the murder or subjugation of all whom they consider infidels.

Why not simply call Islam WORLD WAR ISLAM? There's no better way to describe its globalist purpose and goals.

re American innocence and naivety...have you ever read Art Spiegelman's brilliant graphic novel 'Maus'? It tells the story of how Spiegelman's father and mother survived the Shoah.

All the different ethnic groups are visualised in semi-animal form (human bodies but animal heads/ faces). The Jews are Mice, the Germans are Cats, the Poles are Pigs, and the Americans? - the young American GIs who liberate the concentration camps are imagined with the faces of cheerful, lolloping Labrador pups, earnest and friendly.

Further thought, however, re. USA and 'Asia'.

Have you ever heard of a book called 'Combined Fleet Decoded' by one John Prados? It's on my must-get-someday-when-I-can-afford list, along with things like the new (and unabridged) edition of Churchill's 'The River War'.

It depicts the sustained arm-wrestling between the USA and Japan across the Pacific in the long lead-up to WWII.

But what *is* interesting about it is that, in the end, America prevailed because of what America *is*, or *was*, in toto. And there were Japanese who knew, already, that if it came to a 'total' test of American freedom and innovation versus either their old medieval system or the new fascist/ totalitarian system Japan was running under, that ...Japan stood a damn good chance of losing ignominiously.

I think, once we truly figure out what we're up against with the Ummah,...and we CAN, because John Quincy Adams already did it, magnificently, way back in 1829, and so did James Freeman Clarke, all you have to do is read what he says about Islam in a magisterial chapter 'Mohammed and Islam' of his old 19th century book, 'Ten Great Religions' (online, digitised, google for it), then we will *run rings round* the Mohammedans.

Final thought. Ex-Muslim Patrick Sookhdeo has written two books - Global Jihad, and Faith, Power and Territory. I think it is in Global Jihad that he makes a very interesting point: that although there is a mountain of jihad literature, very little of it, comparatively speaking, deals with sea warfare *as such*. And this despite the Barbary pirates, and the Acehnese and southern Filipino Muslim pirates, and sea-borne raids/ invasions. It seems Mohammedans think like 'land fighters' even when they go to sea... and as for the air...that's another order of magnitude beyond.

Whereas I'd bet my bottom dollar that there is a mass of literature, especially in English but also in that of other seagoing Infidel nations, that deals specifically with the peculiar necessities and the special weaknesses and strengths and strategies of water-borne warfare. And then...we invented air warfare, and proceeded to find out how to do *that*.

Western infidels turned the flank of the Mohammedan bloc, in the late middle ages and the early renaissance, by going to sea, waaay out to sea. In those dangerous and unstable elements, water and air, it is Infidel innovation, Infidel creativity under pressure, Infidel independence and at the same time Infidel trust and cooperation-based group dynamics, that enable us to survive, and to fight, very very effectively.

Again, I think, if we can get more of our leaders to 'read the enemy's book', then we can begin to 'play to our strengths'; while preventing the enemy from seizing the ground (Islam is obsessively land-based, it's all about seizing and dominating 'turf', that's why Israel should take back the Temple Mount and **flatten** the mosques there, and why Israel *must* hold the Golan and the heights of Judea and Samaria; and why, by the way, India *must* hold Kashmir).

This era is especially fascinating to me because I was born in 1931 and grew up during the Franklin Roosevelt administrations.

I remember "Made In Japan" as synonymous with "cheap", metal cars, trains...toys, for example; [cf: China today] I vividly recall Pearl Harbor and Bataan, and visited Corregidor, peered into that Malinta Tunnel.

So much of what you've spelt out here is so very familiar,

I worked for two airlines, Pan American Airways and then Civil Air Transport, lived in east Asia, so, on-space available passes visited all of those places you mention here over a period of several years. Alone, no groups.

We Americans don't seem to have time for travel and reading.

All of which has helped form my opinion that we Americans don't read our own History.......random thoughts....and I certainly don't know how to correct that quickly....impossible. In short sum, I'm an advocate of Cold War style Containment of Islam.

The best and closest thing to reading our common Muslim enemy's book (...it's in English via Kindle/Amazon...have no way of vouching for the translation....) is Robert Spencer's blog right here. It's certainly opened my eyes.....Northern Virginia-istan is twenty minutes away across the Potomac.

I've got an "Infidel" bumper sticker on my car...in Arabic.

if you were born in 1931, that makes you four years older than my own dad. Wow: eighty one! I hope that you are as hale and hearty as he currently is; here's to your achieving the big 100! Feel free to share your stories and memories here as you are able and deem fitting; we younger folks (though I am 48 pushing 49, so hardly a spring chicken) who were born after that turbulent era need to hear them.

Are your family - children, grandchildren - as clued-up on Islam as you are? Do they read over your shoulder?

By the way, if you were born in 1931 then maybe you would have encountered the works of John Roy Carlson (pen-name), who wrote 'Under Cover' (on Nazi infiltrators), 'The Plotters' (on Communist infiltrators) and 'Cairo to Damascus', on the first Muslim jihad against the nascent / newly born Jewish state of Israel?

No, I haven't read those, but I've ridden in a rattling, smoking, vibrating diesel powered taxi in 1958 from Beirut to Baalbek to Damascus, and crossed over into Jordan for the comparatively short ride to Jordanian controlled Jerusalem. Lots of tourist-time in between stops....That was affordable then, dollar much better than now.

If I remember correctly, because I had Lebanese and Jordanian visae I was not able to cross through that Mandelbaum Gate, take tours, and then pass through in reverse back to Jordanian Jerusalem. I had an air ticket on a Royal Air Jordan DC3 from Jerusalem's tiny airport back to Beirut to catch Pan American's DC7C to Rome. (I was a PAA employee riding space available on a vacation pass).

No Arab hostility to this mere American Tourist then. All friendliness.

But, and this is a large but.....I was carrying a paperback copy of mark Twain's "Innocents Abroad",......highly recommended prescient reading for today's complex World. An excellent traveling companion for that trip, ol' Sam Clemmons.

Also, revisited Israel proper by flying Lufthansa (of all airlines) into Tel Aviv's modern airport in 1995 (retirement trip) just after Rabin's murder, where I bus-toured all over, up to the Golan, etc. Startling differences noted in material prosperity in the Arab controlled areas and Israel proper.

I see no end to this enduring complexity.
