If that was a real life scenario and i was sitting in that chair I would've asked Daniels if all those "Christian terrorists were doing those things because of or in spite of the teachings of Christ and the apostles? And then I would've started quoting quran passage after quran passage and hadiths to prove that Islamic terrorism is BECAUSE of the teachings of Mo/Allah.

"Christian terrorism" is surely an oxymoron.

Well, that's a movie I won't be watching. I'm sorry to say he has always been one of my favorite actors because I wrongly believed, at one time, that he somehow possessed some of the same character traits that he so admirably played in the personage of Col. Joshua Chamberlain in the epic Civil War drama "Gettysburg" in a speech to group of Maine deserters:

These are extremely proud moments in America's history that should never ever be forgotten and, especially now as we are now involved in a mortal, civilazational battle against the evils of Islam and it's world caliphate..

Now, in retrospect: how wrong I was to give this miserable man credit because it is apparent now that he is simply whoring his acting ability to any sponsor who will support his trade. A very naive and shallow man he turned out to be (and a leftist to boot).

This show is nothing more than a liberal hollywood attempt at rehashing old news stories, only this time using all of the talking points they forgot to use, or were unable to use due to public opinion, the first time around. The writer of this show conveniently forgets to script real conservative commentators with real conservative talking points, making it look like the liberals were really correct the whole time and conservatives nothing but mouth-breathing knuckle draggers....

It reminds me of George Costanza flying from New York to Ohio to use his "Jerk Store" zinger on a former co-worker who insulted him in a staff meeting.

It's easy to write a script representing yourself as the good guy. The Left is doing it all the time. Actually seeking the truth requires a bit of work to get at the facts. At the end of the clip Daniels has his say and Greer is rather silent. In reality Pamela would have had much to say in reply, as any of us here on JW would. It's a nasty trick which gives the impression Daniels/Newsman is the reasonable person and Greer is the loon. Atheists like Dawkins do the same thing. They set up straw men and seem to be clever. But they won't debate people like William Lane Craig who would tear Dawkins' obtuseness to shreds.

We should all to more than simply not watch this movie.
How about cancelling HBO, not watching anything put out in the future by the people associated with this garbage. And writing letters to them to let them know this is wrong.

To top it all off, Daniels -- not "Phyllis Greer" -- also gets a death threat. In real life, of course, Pamela Geller and I were inundated with death threats (although of course the only one the mainstream media ever reported on was one that Daisy Khan claimed to have received).

This "threat" appears to be an ongoing story line.

"Will McAvoy"—the main character and newscaster, roughly modeled on Keith Olbermann—supposedly gets a threat ranting about "sand n*ggers" and saying he has a "bullet with his name on it".

McAvoy then has to get twenty-four hour security.

Never mind that it is *Anti-Jihadists* who regularly receive death threats—as well as full-fledged plots on their lives—*not* Muslims or Muslim apologists.

This, along with the "Phyllis Greer", is gross calumny.

"The Newsroom" is very well executed, like all Sorkin dramas—but it is also bowdlerized and very skewed. All the "left-wing" characters are heroes, and all the "right-wing" characters are creeps or worse. McAvoy himself is supposed to be a "registered Republican", but this only comes up when he is criticizing the right—so it is not to be taken literally.

It is set roughly two years in the past.

They also had an episode about the "Arab Spring", where the issue of "Islamists" was brought up and dismissed literally in seconds.

After that, the entire phenomenon was presented as that of democracy lovin' bloggers.

The *did* present the killing of bin Laden as a positive thing—but implied that he was some sort of unique figure, rather than part of a whole phenomenon of violent Jihad.

This, despite the fact that their Indian blogger character—played by "Slumdog Millionaire's" Dev Patel—was supposed to have been caught in the 7/7 Tube bombings in London. This was treated almost like some sort of natural disaster, rather than a Jihad attack.

Worst of all was their treatment of the attempted Times Square Bombing. Their main focus was on the Muslim vendor who noticed the smoking SUV and mentioned it to another vendor, who called the authorities—the Muslim didn't want to waste his minutes and risk an overage—they actually mentioned this.

In any case, they acted as though the Muslim vendor's giving a "head's up"—of sorts; it's a good thing the Infidel vendor wasn't concerned about *his own* overages—that this somehow "canceled out" that fact that this was Jihad terror.

The only outrage exhibited by characters was over how some newscasts neglected to mention the Muslim t-shirt guy.

I haven't seen any more of this show than the clip. From what i've seen it does truly reflect the Media. ie it mis-reports, under-reports, twists the facts, ridicules the truth-tellers and pretends to have the moral and intellectual high ground.

What's even funny is that Jeff Daniels was in the movie with Jim Carrey in "Dumb and Dumber". Not sure if he played Dumb or Dumber but here he's just Dumb.

This shows how desperate, ignorant and politically devious are much of MSM in their Islamic agenda.

I would like to see Robert Spencer fisk the hell out of this dialogue and David Wood make a video that tears the writers a new rear exit.

The writers of that show are inexcusably ignorant and irresponsible and negligent.

The abysmal depth of ignorance and idiocy out there -- particularly among those who deem themselves enlightened -- gives one a feeling of vertigo.

One would like to fisk the scene's dialog in detail, but one doubts the value of doing so, since the writers' stupidity must be nearly invincible to have produced those lines.

Back in 1998, Jeff Daniels articulated to Charlie Rose the odd phenomenon of Hollywood actors losing their box-office cachet and as a consequence no longer able to find work in A-list productions.

Ironically, Daniels succumbed to his own description, and now he's reduced to doing Gary Busey-like propaganda for our enemy.

(Of course, he could still be Clooney-hot and have his anti-American cake and eat it too; but he has to settle for being a D-list whore, instead of an A-list one.)

I'm just very happy that TV is becoming a very very small part of my life. This "program" is a work of fiction. It is not reality and not truth. It is propaganda designed to influence the way people think about reality. And those who go to the TV for info and truth need to rethink their motives.

I've long admired Jeff Daniels for the way he played the role of Joshua Chamberlain in "Gettysburg." No more. He wiped out that performance for me by his mendacious, cheap and unpatriotic stunt on HBO.

What is the term perportedly used in the film industry? "Never let the truth or facts get in the way of a good story"? There are many historical precedents of this in films, such as Private Hook in the classic Zulu being portrayed as a drunken malingerer and an insubordinate barrack room lawyer (for "dramatic" purposes), when in reality he was a strict tea-total Chapel man, who went on to be promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major. The smearing of the character of a ships officer on the Titanic. No doubt greatly appreciated by the families of these men. The list of historical inaccuracies in Braveheart are appalling.
