The poor dears are tense, you see, and irritable with the strain of fasting. Of course they snap. Don't think for one second that General Allen, who is the very model of the modern cringing dhimmi, meant that the U.S. troops are killed during Ramadan because Ramadan is the month of jihad. There is not the slightest chance that the General had in mind the words of the Muslims in Bulgaria who said that "Ramadan is a month of holy war and death for Allah. It is a month for fighting the enemies of Allah and God's messenger, the Jews and their American facilitators."
"U.S. General: Ramadan factor in Afghan insider attack," from the Washington Post, August 23 (thanks to David):
General John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, says one possible explanation for a spike in killings of American troops by their Afghan partners is the strain of fasting during the just-concluded Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
I thought I'd heard it all, but I tell you what, I have now...
I thought I'd heard it all, but I tell you what, I have now...
OMG! Please tell me there is a special corner of Hell reserved for dhimmiwits like General Allen.
The mighty US Military has now been officially defanged.
Fasting, hungriness was/is the factor. Islam has nothing to do with it, right.
I have a hard time believing these people believe what they say, you'd have to be a professional dolt to believe BS like that.
same here!!!
M
You got to be kidding...right?
They skip lunch! Big deal. They whore and pig-out all night. They're still stuffed like a pork link an hour before the "fast" ends! Strain of fasting? Does this clown think we all are stupid enough to have voted for Obama?
But supposing this is true. Do we really want people in civilized places with so little self-control they kill in response to mild hunger pangs?
You got to be kidding...right?
Nothing shows better the great gulf between Islam and Christianity. Ramadan brings out the beast in Muslims. But back during World War One, there were sometimes informal truces at Christmas, and often the very real threat to both the German and Allied commands that war-weary soldiers would just stop fighting and desert.
The strain of fasting? OMG, is there no limit?
Even if (and it's a big "if") this stooge actually believes what he's saying, does anyone imagine there is even one single coalition soldier in Afghanistan that agrees with him?
"U.S. General: Ramadan factor in Afghan insider attack," - bull crap. We been there over ten years, never witnessed so much sacrifices before on our side - this is not the trend you idiot. Are the counter-measures in place or are you going to make up more excuses for your lack of competency about Islam and Islamists? The reason we are getting shot at more is we have General Allen commanding the war in Afghan. I get this horrible feeling Obama is determined to make us lose this war therefore he has likes of General Allen who is simple and obeying the CIC.
Two words come to mind, yet red-hot from their generation in a heart that still cares; soon to cool in a steely irony that grieves the loss of brass balls among our leaders: fury and mutiny.
I would call Gen. Allen 'compromised', not 'simple', with all due respect, BlueRaven.
Afghanistan is the most disgraceful squandering of American lives and limbs ever in the entire history of the U.S. military. Nobody who allowed this happen and allow it to continue will pay. The sad and disgusting thing about all this is that we lack leaders who could simply end this nightmare right now today. Having an apathetic out to lunch citizenry who couldn't find Afghanistan on a map doesn't help much either. No slow drawdown lasting years. Immediate extraction of all men and equipment, no looking back.
When I'm hungry I look for something to eat I don't think about killing someone. I really don't understand your reasoning general.
Kepha
you reminded us of the phenomenon, among non-Muslims, of the WWI Christmas truce:
"Nothing shows better the great gulf between Islam and Christianity.
"Ramadan brings out the beast in Muslims.
:"But back during World War One, there were sometimes informal truces at Christmas, and often the very real threat to both the German and Allied commands that war-weary soldiers would just stop fighting and desert."
Most people would recall the film 'Joyeux Noel'.
Fewer would be aware that on at least one occasion something similar seems to have happened on the *Eastern* front, where the [Eastern Orthodox] Russians (on the Allied side) were fighting the Germans and Hungarians [who would be a mix of Catholic and Protestant].
It is in Kate Seredy's largely autobiographical 'The Singing Tree'. The relevant excerpt from the book may be read online here. Her Hungarian uncle, who fought alongside the Germans against the Russians, is speaking:
http://love2learnblog.blogspot.com.au/2005/12/christmas-truce-of-1914.html
"We crept out into the snow, countless silent dark shapes against the whiteness, and ran to the sunken road which lay between our lines and the mountainside where the Russian trenches were. Shells screamed overhead and burst behind us, drowning out all noise we might have made, and when we reached the road, whispered orders from the Captain scurried down the line like mice: 'Advance along the road. Don't dare make a sound or strike a light.'
"We tramped in knee-deep snow, skirting the friendly hillside that sheltered us from the fire, stealing toward the Russians.
"And then, just ahead of me I saw a boy kneel i the snow before a wayside crucifix and light a candle.
" It flickered in the still air, casting a feeble light on the image of Christ above it. 'Oh, Lord,' the man next to me sighed, reaching into his knapsack for a candle.
"Others had seen the glowing light, and as I looked around I saw that more and more candles were lighted all around. A whisper spread, like the order from the Captain from mouth to mouth, only this was not an order from the Captain. 'Light a candle for Christmas Eve,' men whispered and their very words seemed to turn into tiny stars as dozens and dozens, then hundreds of candles came forth from the knapsacks to be lighted and stuck in the snow.
"The hillside now was one glow of light and the crucifix was bright with an unearthly brightness.
"We were a target for the Russian guns, but we never gave it a thought. For a little while we were lost in prayer, until one of the men cried: 'They have stopped firing. Look!'
"Across the valley, on the hillside where the Russians were entrenched, a few small flames began to tremble, then more and more.
"Candles, hundreds of them, thousands, one for every gun that was now silent.
"Around me men began to sing 'Holy Night, Silent Night,' and from across the valley the song came back to us a thousandfold. Behind the lines so facing each other, the guns had ceased to roar and no more shells were screaming between men and the stars.
"Perhaps the Christ Child had walked between the lines and while He walked, peace had stayed the guns."
This is what happens when progressives are installed as leaders of our military. Such a waste of American lives.
General Allen, like all military personnel, works--ultimately--for civilians. That is an appropriate, and proper--chain of command for countries like ours.
Under Noriega, Panama's military operated under a very different system.
In General Allen's defense, he has to toe the official line; his personal, public views aside.
So, one must wonder, from his own statements, if he is merely doing what is expected of those in uniform, or if he actually did drink the kool-aid.
I'm beginning to believe it's the latter.
What concerns me more--as a military retiree--is why no ex/prior/retired members of the armed forces have come forth to tell what they have--personally--learned about Islam during their tours there.
***That I'm aware of.***
Hey General...The Muslims were killing your guys before Ramadan even began....were you too busy to notice?
How dare you blame President Obama !!Unless you forgot it was Obama who sent Bin laden to the infernal depths of hell!! It did not take him 8 yrs to do it either !He did not put our troops in the Iraq and afghanistan cess pool either ! He is the one with the courage enough trying to get out people out of there inspite of the neocon republican idiots that are fighting him tooth and nail to stay !!!
I think this should be mentioned again and again, how the Ramadan fast is phony because they eat after sundown and before sunrise. That's not real fasting! If they just drank water for 30 days, THEN, MAYBE, we might believe that they weren't in their right minds because of hunger.
But we all know the real truth which is that they knew exactly what they were doing, conducting jihad attacks against Americans. That our Military commanders won't acknowledge this, and our politicians deny it, is not only scandalous, it's close to treasonous.
Arabs get around it by sleeping all day long. Business comes to a halt during the day.
Don't know if the Afghans do it this way or not.
Gen. Allen should not have been advanced beyond Lt Col.
Wayne R. Just shut up. OK
nabi ZK (pbum)
if the General is an officer and gentleman, he is mouthing the company line, which, most likely, has been cleared with the POTUS ... mustn't make waves
Ramadan fasting has had not the slightest effect on all those fat Saudi royals, nor on all those prominent but chunky imams and mullahs and sheiks who keep making the news. They all know how to chow down when the devout rank-and-file aren't looking. They need their energy and carbs, you see, because there's a war on.
Whats the matter you cant handle the truth ?? The facts speak for themselves ! The way I see it maybe having a guy in the white house that knows something about islam and the middle east is not such a bad thing either !! Another thing its you and the rest of the neocon ,tea bagger idiots that needs to shut up !!!
You are right on about some of the people here . Jesse Ventura nailed it right on when he said we need a draft to wake people up !! little Johny and Ralphie comming home in a body bag or with no arms and leggs might be enough to do just that ! A huge war tax would have more of a effect sorry to say !! That would have stopped Gw Bush and any other knucklehead from adventure s in the middle east !!
General John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, says one possible explanation for a spike in killings of American troops by their Afghan partners is the strain of fasting during the just-concluded Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
... so, I guess there is tolerance for some killing of American troops by their Afghan partners, but Ramadan causes, what, an intolerable spike? Excuse, me, have we gone nuts?
There was a reason to militarily strike Afghanistan because of 911. There is no reason whatsoever to place thousands upon thousands of our finest military among these muslim bastards anywhere the majority of the population prays to their satanic god, points their collective asses opposite of mecca and slams their foreheads to the ground.
We are doomed as long as we allow islam to be viewed as a legitimate religion, instead of the world wide mind cancer that it is.
Navy Seals killed bin Laden, not Obama. Bush had no choice but to take out Saddam Hussein who was a megalomaniac not abiding by the 1991 truce terms, including firing on our jets over the no-fly zones on a daily basis. SH also was the only dictator in the world that had WMDs and had used them and not a single major intelligence agency thought he no longer had them. It would have been rank negligence for any President not to have taken out Hussein and his sons.
Where Bush failed in Iraq was thinking that we could establish true democracy there. What Bush should have done was install a Mubarak type authoritarian who would keep the peace but who wouldn't be extra brutal. Mubarak types are the best a Muslim country can have since Islam unleashed creates a far worse situation. No Islamic nation can have freedom, equality under the law, a Golden Rule for all and other good things like this. Islam forbids these things. You know this or should know it.
As for Afghanistan, both Bush and Obama have pursued the same failed policy of trying to win hearts and minds. To hell with that. Special Forces killing the worse Islamic barbarians is all that should be done. In fact, Obama has increased our presence in Afghanistan (the good war, remember, according to Democrats) and more American military deaths have occurred there under him then under Bush.
Obama also kept Gitmo open (I knew he would), kept rendition going, military tribunals too. Look, Bush had to go into both Iraq and Afghanistan but he didn't have to try and bring freedom to those places. Ditto for Obama who is even more clueless about Islam than was Bush, unless of course, according to some, he's not clueless at all but complicit, which is even worse. Fault Bush if you like, though you come across as just another tedious Bush hater, but Obama deserves a hell of a lot of blame as well. Fair is fair.
By the way, General, that is why recent orders have been given to have live ammunition in weapons. By the way, General, leave the stupid remarks for the administration to mumble - maybe even the striper trousered diplomats.
Or, is this a case that your intelligence sections G2's, S2's, only work of odd numbered days?
"...General Allen, who is the very model of the modern cringing dhimmi..."
General Allen, can you meet OUR expectations for your pay-grade? If other agencies are in your way (which I suspect), pack-em out.
Apart from my expressions, I'd like to see you succeed (given you've been told the mission {which is what now?}).
Drybones says it all:

Except that the Mohammedan's T-shirt should say 'I'm with stupids', and besides an American GI with a silly grin, there should be a British soldier, a French soldier, a Canadian, an Australian and a New Zealander, because they've all been forced b y their Top Brass to adhere to the same idiotic ROE and they've all trusted murderous Mohammedans and gotten killed as a result.
It just gets better and better ... , "They just got hungry and hot" ... . Every and any explanation except the obvious.
