Ahmadinejad: "Is insulting other people not a form of crime?"

And he said Israel would be eliminated. But that is not an insult, doncha know. "In New York, defiant Ahmadinejad says Israel will be 'eliminated,'" by Louis Charbonneau for Reuters, September 24:

(Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday Israel has no roots in the Middle East and would be "eliminated," ignoring a U.N. warning to avoid incendiary rhetoric ahead of the annual General Assembly session.

Ahmadinejad also said he did not take seriously the threat that Israel could launch a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, denied sending arms to Syria, and alluded to Iran's threats to the life of British author Salman Rushdie.

The United States quickly dismissed the Iranian president's comments as "disgusting, offensive and outrageous."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hinted Israel could strike Iran's nuclear sites and criticized U.S. President Barack Obama's position that sanctions and diplomacy should be given more time to stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran denies it is seeking nuclear arms and says its atomic work is peaceful and aimed at generating electricity.

"Fundamentally we do not take seriously the threats of the Zionists," Ahmadinejad, in New York for this week's U.N. General Assembly, told reporters. "We have all the defensive means at our disposal and we are ready to defend ourselves."

Ahmadinejad is due to speak at the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met Ahmadinejad on Sunday and warned him of the dangers of incendiary rhetoric in the Middle East.

Ahmadinejad, who has used previous U.N. sessions to question the Holocaust and the U.S. account of the September 11, 2001, attacks, did not heed the warning and instead expanded on his previous rejection of Israel's right to exist. Western envoys typically walk out of Ahmadinejad's U.N. speeches in protest at his remarks.

"Iran has been around for the last seven, 10 thousand years. They (the Israelis) have been occupying those territories for the last 60 to 70 years, with the support and force of the Westerners. They have no roots there in history," he said, referring to the founding of the modern state of Israel in 1948.

"We do believe that they have found themselves at a dead end and they are seeking new adventures in order to escape this dead end. Iran will not be damaged with foreign bombs," Ahmadinejad said, speaking through an interpreter at his Manhattan hotel.

"We don't even count them as any part of any equation for Iran. During a historical phase, they (the Israelis) represent minimal disturbances that come into the picture and are then eliminated."

In 2005, Ahmadinejad called Israel a "tumor" and echoed the words of the former Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, by saying that Israel should be wiped off the map....

At the meeting on the rule of law, Ahmadinejad said states should not yield to rules imposed "by bullying countries."...

Ahmadinejad also was asked about a move by an Iranian religious foundation to increase its reward for the killing of Rushdie in response to a California-made anti-Islam video called "The Innocence of Muslims" that has sparked anti-American protests around the Muslim world.

"Where is he now?" Ahmadinejad asked of Rushdie. "Is he in the United States? If he is, you shouldn't broadcast that for his own safety."...

Ahmadinejad appeared to reject Washington's position that while it condemns the video's content, freedom of expression must be upheld. "Freedoms must not interfere with the freedoms of others," Ahmadinejad said. "If someone insults, what would you do? ... Is insulting other people not a form of crime?"

It will be soon. But only certain people.

This guy is exceedingly creepy...

"Freedoms must not interfere with the freedoms of others," Ahmadinejad said."

Protection from insult or hurt feelings is not a freedom, nor is it a right, therefore utilising freedom of speech to insult Islam isn't interfering with the freedoms of others. Even if there were a legitimate case to be made for criminalising criticism of Islam, I would love to hear from these Islamic imbeciles on how they propose to enforce such a law, especially with the existence of the Internet, the incredible speed with which "blasphemous" content can reach viral status and the unparallelled anonymity the medium provides.

Telling the truth was and is never a crime. You can never sue anyone for telling the truth no matter
How politically incorrect it is.
One can onl sue for incorrect accusations

That being said, the mohammedans never attempted to rebutt what the film
Is showing about mohammed

The United States quickly dismissed the Iranian president's comments as "disgusting, offensive and outrageous."

Thats fine, but they missed "unacceptable!"

IMO the UN should have barred him from speaking, and sent him back to the future glass parking lot he now lives in.

If the UN had balls, which it doesn't, it wouldn't allow certain leaders of countries to speak before the General Assembly because certain leaders are barbarians. Idi Amin for instance when he was in power in Uganda. And now the repulsive, totally loathsome President of Iran.

Time for democracies to pull out of the UN. This won't happen of course----but it should.

Q. 2:191 A-jad refers on this verse to fight the devensive jihad al-daf’ against [in Muslims view] “occupying forces” Israel in Muslim land ("Palestine", 78% of the British Mandate 1922-1948 went to Jordan)— BUT actually abrogated Q. 2:106 through Q. 9:5 offensive jihad ‘talab’ to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)

you should see the NY Post today. they had a picture of him and the head line was:

well said.

President Ahamadinjad and Ayatollah Khamenei and likwise the mullahs who are in power in Iran with all the wickness may best be described in the Bible. Which reads in Psalm 73:6-9. "Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. From their callous hearts comes iniquity; the evil conceits of their minds know no limits. They scoff and speak with malice; in their arrogance they threaten oppression. Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tonques take possession of the earth." [NIV]

''They have no roots there in history.''

Stupid as a box of rocks.

Ahmedinejad is of the same mold as Hitler and Stalin, an anti-christ in the flesh and a man who cannot be trusted. He is not fit to be in government, nor are any of the mad mullahs who reign alongside him. In a functional society he would never have come to power and would have been sectioned under the Mental Health act years ago.
We should not be entertaining him. He is a criminal and a despot. The West should isolate him from International discourse.
I sincerely hope that the Iranian people, many of whom are secretly abandoning Islam, will one day find justice and be rid of this horrible little tick and all the putrefying bacteria that make up the Iranian regime.

Radical Islamists in control of northern Mali are becoming “increasingly repressive,” amputating limbs, whipping people in the streets and stoning to death a couple accused of adultery, a human rights group said Tuesday.

Ahmadinejad: "Is insulting other people not a form of crime?"
.....................................

Grimly laughable, given the things Ahmadinejad has said about Jews.

Even grimmer, when you consider how the "Islamic Republic of Iran" treats Christians, Baha'i, Zoroastrians, Sunnis, and apostates.

In addition, there is not—nor should there be—any libel laws for long-dead people. Oh, and incidentally, virtually everything in that movie was entirely accurate, in any case.

What he—and all these other offended Muslims—mean is that there should be blasphemy laws *preventing any criticism of Islam or the "Prophet".

In other words, that we should impose Shari'ah in the free West.

More:

Ahmadinejad also said he did not take seriously the threat that Israel could launch a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, denied sending arms to Syria, and alluded to Iran's threats to the life of British author Salman Rushdie.
.....................................

Also seems that while "insulting" a dark-ages war lord should be a crime, that calling a hit on a peaceful novelist is not.

More:

Ahmadinejad is due to speak at the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met Ahmadinejad on Sunday and warned him of the dangers of incendiary rhetoric in the Middle East.
.....................................

Ah...right. But it appears Ban Ki-moon's words were aimed as much at the exercise of free speech in the civilized West as at the pariah-state of Iran:

"UN top dog Ban Ki-moon says Muhammad filmmakers abused freedom of expression"

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2012/09/un-top-dog-ban-ki-moon-says-muhammad-filmmakers-abused-freedom-of-expression.html

More:

Ahmadinejad, who has used previous U.N. sessions to question the Holocaust and the U.S. account of the September 11, 2001, attacks, did not heed the warning...
.....................................

And, really, why should he? The world has done nothing about Iran's alarming development of nuclear weapons, and the UN doesn't even condemn Iran's appalling treatment of its minorities and dissidents, so why should Iran care?

More:

"Iran has been around for the last seven, 10 thousand years. They (the Israelis) have been occupying those territories for the last 60 to 70 years, with the support and force of the Westerners. They have no roots there in history," he said, referring to the founding of the modern state of Israel in 1948.
.....................................

More lies. The truth is that Jewish roots in Israel go back as far as Persians' do in Iran.

But Ahmadinejad has lied about the Holocaust and lied about 9/11, so why not this, as well?

Meanwhile, far more significantly, they are planning to "wipe Israel off the map".

More:

At the meeting on the rule of law, Ahmadinejad said states should not yield to rules imposed "by bullying countries."...
.....................................

Again, grimly hilarious. It is the Muslim world that is trying to bully the free West into imposing blasphemy laws, by burning down our embassies and murdering our diplomatic staff.

More:

Ahmadinejad also was asked about a move by an Iranian religious foundation to increase its reward for the killing of Rushdie in response to a California-made anti-Islam video called "The Innocence of Muslims" that has sparked anti-American protests around the Muslim world.

"Where is he now?" Ahmadinejad asked of Rushdie. "Is he in the United States? If he is, you shouldn't broadcast that for his own safety."...
.....................................

More barbarism, and more threats against freedom of speech.

More:

Ahmadinejad appeared to reject Washington's position that while it condemns the video's content, freedom of expression must be upheld. "Freedoms must not interfere with the freedoms of others," Ahmadinejad said. "If someone insults, what would you do? ... Is insulting other people not a form of crime?"
.....................................

No, it's not. But it will be, if Ahmadinejad and his vicious coreligionists have their way.

"If the UN had balls, which it doesn't, it wouldn't allow certain leaders of countries to speak before the General Assembly because certain leaders are barbarians."

So right, Wellington. Imanutjob should NEVER be allowed to speak before the UN ever again; not after all the insane and evil threats hes made against Israel--and especially not on Yom Kippur! Talk about "insults" ...now THAT is an insult!!

Is insulting other people not a form of crime?"

No.

he is an insult to humanity himself.
M

US out of the UN now!
UN out of the US now!

While I agree with previous posters outraged by the UN allowing Ahmadinejad to insult and threaten the free world with impunity, one thing you have overlooked is that Western leaders have been placed firmly on the defensive in all confrontations with Islam.

The civilised world has lost the will to fight for its freedoms, and worse, to identify the mortal threat.

At the risk of sounding insulting, Ahmadinejad sir, I say : ''Bollox to you, you're nuts''.

Something from the archives, written by Hugh Fitzgerald, for many years a regular contributor at this forum.

Something that could, perhaps, be printed off and distributed to every non-Muslim country's representative at the UN, next time the Iranian Muslims and the rest of the thuggish Islamintern stand up at the UN and in the General Assembly spew out their venomous, diabolical hatred against the tiny Jewish state of Israel.

It was posted in this thread, from waaay back in May 2004.

It is as relevant today, as it was then. Perhaps more so.

and then read down some more.

Here is the portion that could be copied, and printed off, and read aloud by someone, or more than one person, on the steps of the United Nations building in New York:

"When one reads about some U.N. vote, in the Security Council or in the General Assembly,
"where the votes against Israel are usually on the order of 189 to 2, with a few abstentions,
"one is prompted to ask aloud of those ambassadors from civilized, or quasi-civilized lands,
" whether they can, when they return home to their New York apartments that night, and perhaps, mimicking Jean-Paul Belmondo in a famous scene in Breathless, looking closely at themselves in the mirror, how can they stand it?
"How can they bear to be participants in such hypocrisy and stupidity?
"Do they really believe the Arab propaganda?
"Is there something in the very atmosphere of the U.N. that causes people to lose their moral sense?
"And even if they are forced to follow orders from the foreign ministries at home, do they never protest? Never think to try to change those policies? Never seek to understand what is really going on in the endless siege of Israel?
"Never once try to identify with the Israelis, whose state was created because the civilized nations of the world, with men such as Clemenceau and Lloyd George, thought that it was, on the whole, the right and proper thing to do -- and the League of Nations regarded all of western Palestine, from the Jordan to the sea, as the very least that could be set aside
(when the Mandatory Power, Great Britain, unilaterally declared that the mandatory provisions regarding Jewish immigration and settlement would not apply to the area east of the Jordan, the Mandates Commission was horrified -- curious that no one bothers to consult, or make public, their remarks at the time).
"Do you look at yourself in the mirror, grimacing in the Belmondo manner, and reassure yourself about the day's events: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
"Are you proud of having joined the pack of wolves as they snapped at Israel, trying to bring it down to go in for the final kill?
"Or do you really believe that this war on Israel is really about "two tiny peoples, blah blah blah"?
"Exactly how stupid, or unseeing, are you?
"Do you ever -- you ambassadors from Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, Poland, Hungary, Spain, and so on-- ever think about Islamic teachings as the basis for the permanent refusal to permit Israel to exist, whatever its size?
"And if it is its existence that matters, not its dimensions, then surely the Israelis should choose those dimensions that will both make their own defense strongest, and also make the other side believe those defenses are at their strongest.
"For only darura, necessity, keeps Arab states from attacking.
"The only thing keeping the peace in the MIddle East between the Muslim Arabs and the Jewish state, is fear by the Arabs of the consequences, and the ability of their leaders to note that Israel still is more powerful.
"But if that state is reduced in size, it is not only Israel that will suffer, but the Arab leaders who may not really wish to go to war.
"For, with a reduced and seemingly vulnerable Israel, they will no longer have the excuse (for the few who might want one) of darura.
"The very pressure put on Israel to further retreat is in fact leading not to peace but to war.
"There is no "two-state solution" -- and how can there be?
"What would Muhammad say -- yes, it's okay for the Infidels to have their own state, where the shari'a does not apply, and they are free to live as they wish, on land that was once part of dar al-Islam? Nonsense. Double nonsense.

"Were I a schoolboy, and in my school at every assembly there was a denunciation by 188 of my 189 classmates,

of the one small scholarly schoolboy, sitting in the third row on the right, who seemed to want only to be left in peace to study,

and who was constantly being harassed and bullied and threatened by a gang of 22 of the most unpleasant and violent of my classmates (who, let it be said, did not confine their aggression to that one schoolboy),

"I would behave as the American ambassador so often behaves {behaved, alas; this is now 2010, and under Obama the USA has joined the lynch mob - dda}, refusing to agree to the bullying, the lynch-mob mentality, the pious lies uttered and repeated and blandly accepted, about the "threat" coming from this single small boy, supposedly directed at those 22 bullies.

"Not to take that boy's side would have been intolerable. I couldn't stand it.
"But a great many of you ambassadors, and the Chris Pattens and Mary Robinsons of this great wide wonderful world we live in, find no difficulty in beating up, and beating up, that boy (and I won't go in to that boy's tortured, difficult life, or what happened to so many of his relatives, through time and space).
"How do you stand it, week after week, month after month, year after year, the nonsense and corruption and timewasting and hypocrisy and stupidity and paralysis and stench of failure on the East River? I couldn't stand it."

Print it off in poster form and tape it to every lamp-post on every corner of the block within which the UN stands in New York.

And do the same in Geneva (translate it into French, alongside the English, for that distribution).

This is what should have happened, if our governments, the governments of majority non-Muslim countries, had a grain of decency and of the instinct of self-preservation.

Their representatives would have attended the Assembly, yes; preferably all.

And at a certain point, each ambassador would have silently held up, on their desks, squares of paper inscribed in large print, in three kinds of script (Latin, Arabic, Persian) with the words - in Arabic, and in Farsi, and in Urdu and in Bahasa Malay - "I Am A Gharkad Tree." "I Will Not Submit".

And the day after the speech, Iran would have discovered that *all* majority-Christian non-Muslim countries had broken off diplomatic relations with Iran, and ended *all* trade, financial and academic dealings with Iran; that all Iranian Muslims currently in places like Australia, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Philippines, you-name-it, had had their visas or residency permits cancelled and were being required to pack their bags and book their plane tickets back to Iran; and that all these same non-Muslim countries' embassies in Israel had, overnight, disappeared from Tel Aviv and reappeared, mysteriously, suddenly, without explanations or apologies, all in a row in nice digs in the historic Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, thus declaring that henceforward all of said countries recognised Jerusalem - *all* of Jerusalem, including the bits that the Ummah is after - as the indivisible capital of the Jewish state of Israel.

And actually a lot of other Muslim countries, like Egypt, should have also woken up to find that their 'aid' 'trade' and diplomatic status vis a vis non-Muslim countries - within and without of the Anglosphere - had been suddenly, drastically and permanently downgraded, and that, for Muslims from within their borders, their immigration / visitation access to those countries...ENDED.

*That's* the sort of show of Infidel solidarity that we can only dream about, at the moment.

But I'm throwing it out there anyway, just in case, like dandelion seed.

Let's allow ourselves to dream.
