Islamic preachers - from every Islamic nation could shout this from the rooftops - but this still doesn't quality as proof - that Islam allows wife beating - not until an Islamic spokesperson stands on the White House lawn - and admits that it is so.

I could not help but think of my beautiful, wonderful wife when I watched this and reflect several times on the impossibility of my ever striking the person I love most and who is my favorite person of all time. Even the thought of doing so filled me with utter disgust. And yet this low-life of a man I just listened to, and who invoked both the Koran and Mohammed for justification of his viewpoint it should be noted, put forward his argument convinced that it is correct.

He admits to having a second wife. End of trial. I don't care if Allah, aka Satan, blessed the union. Grant the woman a divorce and put this porker in jail for bigamy. Then send all of them back where they came from.

What Muslim could possibly do #1 and #2? There are plenty of Christians (and Jews) around who are quite willing to acknowledge supposedly bad verses in their holy texts and then go ahead and repudiate or criticize them.

There is not one Muslim who will do #1 and #2. So far, a Muslim hasn't even bothered to try to do #1 and #2 by lying about it through taqiyya.

How I love it when a Muslim man says that men have a "higher status" than women! There's really nothing I love better than being told that I'm an inferior being, devoid of whatever God-given superior qualities the XY component of humanity has been blessed with.

Let me ask Abd Al-Rahman Masour however — what exactly keeps him and all the males of Muslimdom in this wonderfully superior position?

If their exalted position over females is really a matter of course, proclaimed by the Univesrse for all to see, then why the need for physical force?

Spencer's experience just illustrates the principle that one should never judge Islam or Muslims by what Muslims in the West say - only judge it by what Muslim scholars and imams say in the Muslim world, and how they behave. That's how you know Islam is supremely intolerant, oppressive, violent and all around evil.

Ignore what any Muslim in the West claims, and IMO, given how they behave in Islamic lands, one is justified in considering any of them potentially dangerous.

What is the source of their disgust and charges of ignorance if you are reading them their book? If you bring them 1000 KORAN and HADITH and the same interpretations from Arabic in each source, they will still say they are all wrong and they will say "you are interpreting it wrong". So the "Religion of Peace" will always be a Religion of Peace in a muslim mind even if the evidence that IT AIN'T is there century after century.

Why do we have to listen to a bearded puffer fish tell us how to treat women? Mohammed may have improved the lot of women in his time but Islam hasn't moved past the 7th century.

Wife-beating goes on to one or another extent in most societies. Most societies today seek to punish it. Islam's core texts and founders, (with some terribly vague limitations) make wife-beating into something sacred and thus unreformable.

From Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, the two most canonical hadith collections:

Narrated Aisha [Muhammad's favorite wife]:

Abu Bakr [first caliph, father of Aisha, and companion of Muhammad] came towards me and struck me violently with his fist and said, "You have detained the people because of your necklace." But I remained motionless as if I was dead lest I should awake Allah's Apostle although that hit was very painful.

Sahih Muslim, Book 009, Number 3506:

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: Abu Bakr...came and sought permission to see Allah's Messenger...He found people sitting at his door and none amongst them had been granted permission, but it was granted to Abu Bakr and he went in. Then came Umar and he sought permission and it was granted to him, and he found Allah's Apostle...sitting sad and silent with his wives around him. He (Hadrat Umar) [who would become second caliph] said: I would say something which would make the Holy Prophet...laugh, so he [Umar] said: Messenger of Allah, I wish you had seen (the treatment meted out to) the daughter of Khadija when you asked me some money, and I got up and slapped her on her neck. Allah's Messenger [Muhammad]...laughed and said: They are around me as you see, asking for extra money. Abu Bakr [who was later to become first caliph]...then got up went to A'isha...and slapped her on the neck, and Umar [who was later to become second caliph] stood up before Hafsa and slapped her saying: You ask Allah's Messenger...which he does not possess. They said: By Allah, we do not ask Allah's Messenger...for anything he does not possess...

Sahih Muslim, Book 004, Number 2127:

...(the Holy Prophet) entered the (house), and said: Why is it, O 'A'isha, that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story). He said: Was it the darkness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He [Muhammad] struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?...

Narrated 'Ikrima:

Rifa'a divorced his wife whereupon 'AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. 'Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah's Apostle came, 'Aisha said, "I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!"...

All Muslims support wife-beating.

Now let's see a Muslim persuasively refute that, without resorting to childish sophistry.

Mansour avers: This (assault on Aisha by Muhammed) was done in order to discipline her, not because the Prophet enjoyed beating or inflicting bodily harm. The Prophet did this in order to discipline this woman.
Even a passing familiarity with the major hadiths and the Sira (biography of Muhammed) of Ibn Ishaq would be sufficient to make one aware of what an egregious lie this assertion is. These sources reveal Muhammed (whether an actual historical figure or not) to be a sadistic, mass-murdering monster who authorized the assassination of poets, mass decapitations of men and boys of the Jewish tribe Banu Qurayza, allowed mass rape of enslaved captive women and girls, and murdered the Jewish elder of Khaybar, Kinana ibn al-Rabi, by burning him alive in order to get him to reveal the location of the Khaybar Jews' hidden treasure. Surely Mansour is aware of all this, but is not troubled by any of these atrocities committed by his prophet and his prophet's cutthroat "companions," since the victims were all guilty of Unbelief. Oh, and let us not forget that literally only hours after Kinana's murder, Muhammed forcibly wed the dead man's wife, Safiyya, and consummated the marriage that night.

Associated Press: Iran's navy aims to sail off US shores soon

The head of Iran's navy says the country aims to put its warships in international waters off the U.S. coast "in the next few years."

It's quite possible that the Iranian government is really itching for war, since military jihad war, to the end of time, is so central to Muhammad's life story and to Islam.

Or if the head of the Iranian navy is not trying to provoke war, he may instead be motivated by the retarded "honor" psychology of the Muslim Middle East to the extent that Iranian naval "strategy" is driven not by strategy but by the need to "save face" and avoid humiliation at all costs, even if "saving face" means lying, boasting, and recklessly bringing on the destruction of anything and everything, including Iran's navy.

The Iranian government also is no doubt over-confident and living in the knowledge-excluding bubble typical of dictatorships. A combination of terror, violent suppression of criticism, and fanaticism tend to divorce the leadership in dictatorships from objective awareness of circumstances. The people at the helm of the Iranian government are not only fanatical nut cases; they are blind inside the dictators' bubble.
