General Allen: "One of our battalion commanders publicly and openly hugged his Afghan battalion counterpart. And that solved the problem right on the spot."

More on this story. Apparent General Allen is not only the very model of the modern cringing dhimmi, who thinks that Afghan trainees murder their American trainers because of the stress of Ramadan fasting, but is also so completely out of touch with reality, and so deeply enmeshed in modern America's silly therapeutic culture, that he thinks hugs will end jihad. Hugs. This is on the level of thinking that origami will end jihad.

"Allen blames some insider attacks on stress of Ramadan fasting," by Jennifer Hlad for Stars and Stripes, August 23 (thanks to Benedict):

WASHINGTON – Some recent attacks by uniformed Afghan forces against NATO troops may have been triggered by stress, hunger and dehydration associated with Ramadan fasting that this year fell in the middle of harsh summer weather and the heavy fighting season, the top U.S. military officer in Afghanistan said Thursday.

“I think that the holy month of Ramadan demands great sacrifice of Muslims who observe it," Marine Gen. John Allen told reporters via video feed from Kabul. "The idea that they will fast during the day places great strain on them."

Even with a reduced operational tempo and an emphasis on planning missions in the morning or evening hours when the temperature was cooler, Allen said, it was still very hot and the operations were “very aggressive.”

“We take that as a potential reason, not the reason for an upswing,” Allen said.

About a quarter of the attacks can be attributed to the Taliban, Allen said, whether because the attacker was an infiltrator or was coerced by the Taliban into acting.

At least 10 U.S. troops have been killed in August by Afghan security forces.

Still, Allen warned that insider attacks are not a reason to limit contact and training with Afghan forces.

Of course not. After all, they need targets.

“The closer the relationship with them -- indeed, the more we can foster a relationship of brotherhood -- the more secure we are,” he said....

In the 73 attacks by Afghan security troops targeting coalition forces since 2007, 110 coalition troops have been killed. This year, 40 NATO troops have been killed in 32 attacks.

When a unit is attacked, it creates “a moment of crisis, but that crisis can be overcome and is usually overcome by the application of the great leadership that is the hallmark of our forces today,” Allen said.

Leadership is the key to making sure troops don’t turn to retribution, Allen said, and instead recognize the value of continuing to work together.

In one case, “one of our battalion commanders publicly and openly hugged his Afghan battalion counterpart," he said. "And that solved the problem right on the spot."

I wrote a little about this in a piece called "Our Soldiers Are Dying For Washington's Islamophilia" http://bit.ly/QBdfie

get this insult to the intellect, of any rational person
OUT ..... just like HIS commander in chief!

..... remember "lions led by donkeys"? ......
and still the body count continues.

This is gonna make a great Michael Moore documentary some day. Hugs?

General Patton will be spinning in his grave. Can you imagine what the outcome would have been were he in command in Afghanistan? The taliban would have been completely wiped out in a matter of weeks, and the entire country would have been under his boot heel. Which is what's supposed to happen in a war. And that would have been a decade ago.

And Allen was not ANGRY at the fact that ...In the 73 attacks by Afghan security troops targeting coalition forces since 2007, 110 coalition troops have been killed. This year, 40 NATO troops have been killed in 32 attacks....

At what altar are these brave men being sacrificed? The altar of fools? The alter of the multicults?

Why is America tolerating this? I am sickened by Allen and these foolish dhimmis. How can so many men who have attained General in the military, and be so - take your choice - naive, foolish, idiots? Aren't you supposed to have knowledge and ability to seek all point of views, recognize the unpleasant and make conclusions by researching the history of Islam? Previous wars with Islam, conquests by Muslims, why is the Muslim world the way it is? How about studying the books, authored by both apologetics (Armstrong, Esposito) and the fine writers accused of Islamophobia, oh my! This is all very basic to me.

It saddens me to lose these fine men in this folly. I am angry as we all are. Our govt has spent us into bankruptcy, but even that is not enough to satisfy Allah Human sacrifice needs to be much higher, for this group of warriors is not enough to shake the West to its senses. America only needs to look at the transformation in Europe. We are being led by blind fools.

I remember when British Marines were captured in an inflatable boat in the Shat el Arab waterway by Iranians without one shot being fired.

Eventualy and humiliatingly they were freed after the whole thing being televised amid mocking and finger wagging by triumphant gloating Iranians.

We were laughing stocks and worse, one of these so called servicemen confessed to weeping when they took his iPhone.

Thats what it's boiled down to.

Do our military now actually believe this spouted pc bloated garbage or is it the only way to get ahead in a western military career?

No acceptable answer is available.

One, belief, indicates a naivity which makes Chamberlain seem a master of political tactics.

The other, ambition, indicates a cynicism in which mens lives are thrown away merely for personal advancement.

Casey's 'diversity' comment after Fort Hood exposed the mindset perfectly.

Fundamentally, the problem is that growing up in most modern societies does not psychologically equip us to face a rapine, murderous and criminal ideology like Islam.

This includes our military personnel too. The good general has been raised to believe that he will fight specific armed groups of people, who will oppose our national interests or are willing to do harm to American citizens.

But, the battle lines are different now.

How does he face an enemy - where in some of these countries 70% or 80% of the population will be happy to kill our children, kidnap our women folk or simply be happy to murder us? How does he face entire societies which recommend sexual slavery and rape of our women? How will he comprehend a culture which celebrates teaching their little children to behead and murder, much like we encourage our children to take piano lessons?

Nothing in our education system or our society prepares us for this. As a result, many large groups of people within our countries simply try to find excuses for Islam or just ignore it as a danger to their lives.

Honestly, this is not the general's fault or even the fault of the leftists/right-wingers!

This is a flaw in our system.

We are simply unprepared to face this evil.

Net net... Embrace this.

Islam is a toxic theo-political religious ystem invented by a 7th century Arab warlord who imagined himself speaking for God. His god Allah, one out of a pantheon of ancient Arab pagan gods, demands the whole world be subdued to Mohamnad's rule, his Sharia. Islam produces little in the form of human achievements in sny form except warfare. Net net, its ultimate creation is the suicide bomber, to murder. Embrace that.

Can incompetence get any worse? This guy is unfit...mentally unstable...He invents excuses for enemy behavior, and thinks hugs from filthy kuffar are welcome...I'm not a fan of war, but I know that they can't be won by hugging the enemy...Why not kiss their cheeks too?
Ramadan means missing lunch and pigging out later...Can missing lunch cause murderous thoughts and actions?
According to the General, yes, and a few hugs can dissipate those thoughts from the pious Mahoundian...After all, 'All they need is love'...All Afghan police trainee's should be hugged several times a day by trainers...If one hug did that much good, think how well multi hugs will go over with pious Mahoundians...

In the real world this is called 'fraternizing with the enemy'. Could it be that Marine Gen. John Allen got his Islam instructions from Sherifa Zuhur at the U.S. Army war college?

There's nothing more dangerous than an imperious speaking voice and no intelligence behind it. The military is full of them. So is the White House. And so is the Muslim Brotherhood.

Courtesy of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Shame he doesn't know anything about Islam though...

I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical, About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
I'm very good at integral and differential calculus;
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's; I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,
I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,
In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolous;
I can tell undoubted Raphaels from Gerard Dows and Zoffanies,
I know the croaking chorus from The Frogs of Aristophanes! Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard the music's din afore,
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.
Then I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform,
And tell you ev'ry detail of Caractacus's uniform:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
In fact, when I know what is meant by "mamelon"and "ravelin",
When I can tell at sight a Mauser rifle from a Javelin, When such affairs as sorties and surprises I'm more wary at,
And when I know precisely what is meant by "commissariat", When I have learnt what progress has been made in modern gunnery,
When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery—
In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy— You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.
For my military knowledge, though I'm plucky and adventury, Has only been brought down to the beginning of the century; But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral, I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

I am also a Marine, and Veteran of 4 years in the Corps and 13 months in the infantry. I am proud of my Marine Corps commitment and challenges.

I'm also 68 years old my war was 48 years ago. But that isn't my issue or problem. My oppinion is todays war is "back words". Which means bombs and bullets are totally a waste of human beings, not effective, and also a waste of money. This battle is stealth in definition and isn't 8000 miles away. It's in Washington D.C., it's in the Senate and in Congress, it's being faught throughout the United States without guns and bombs. It is a test of allegiance in the highest levels of the U.S. security, department of defense, department of justice, and all levels of legislation, law enforcment, and educational systems.

The goal should be coming out this with our U.S. constitution and nation as effective and civil as it is today. We could say this time the must effective battle is being faught from the top down, instead of from the bottom up..

This time the enemy is here and is well established as moles inside our borders. This time the enemy wears a mask that makes good use of desception and gaining trust to open doors that have been locked tight up until now.

This time everything is up-side down. We could say it's as if, good is evil, and bad is good. Since when is telling the truth, a bad thing? And since when does political correctness have priority over homeland security? Since when does our legislators ask the advise of people that aren't even citizens of this nation, much less have similar ideologys, or allegiance?

Be very careful whom you trust and call a good person, with similar logic and beliefs... Just because I say I'm a kind person that loves all people, doesn't mean it's true....

General Allen is a troubled man. Having to train and protect those who have murdered his own troops and not knowing if it will happen again, is much to bear. It's like training and protecting a multitude of potential Nidal Hasans. A daunting task, even for a seasoned combat Marine like, Flag officer Allen.

Training jihadists, blaming Ramadan. Definition of madness?

Well, then; a nice blowjob ought to solve this whole thing, eh?

Group hug!

like vnbushman I'm also an ex-combat Marine and my war was also 48 years ago. I left that war because I was told I couldn't shoot until I was shot at. But the ARVN weren't shooting at me and although I had some stupid officers none of them were hugging anyone.
Field grade officers are political appointees; play the game, conform to today's fashion and you can get promoted. That's how it works. Take note, just like Obullshit is the first affirmative action president Colin Powell was the first affirmative action Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

Thank you for posting that truth.

Earlier, in other contexts I've mentioned that we Americans are culturally not equipped or adapted to recognize and deal with Asian duplicity and subterfuge.

That's accurately seen as weakness by our Asian "allies" and co-ordinators of policy in those very rough and inherently unstable and viciously sectarian cesspools of competitive, overlapping turf fighting.

The drug-gang turf wars along the streets of Los Angeles and New York and along our Mexican border are child's play in comparison.
Again, we Americans are simply not equipped for shadow guerilla warfare among Muslims....on their turf.....BUT, on OUR turf, these Muslims recognize that they're at a disadvantage.

That's why we see their madrassa subversion, infiltration, "lawfare', victim-hood suits, screeches by the likes of their C.A.I.R., and imams crying "discrimination" and "racism" at every contrived opportunity such as at the site of the World Trade Center destruction.

Does anyone still remember that most of those terrorist-attackers that morning were...Saudis...?

In other words, our Muslim enemy is gradually adapting to our turf, but somehow our education and culture prevents us from adapting to their turf.

That's why I tout "containment and isolation" of Islamic West and Central Asia as our most practical near-term strategy. These East Asian Muslims seem, for the moment, more concerned locally inside the Philippines and Thailand. Indonesia, for now...seems.....stable. But always remember that practicing Muslims everywhere are our potential bloody enemies.

We've got our work cut out for us, but after this past decade we still refuse to admit that we are, indeed, at war with Islam. Just ask the Muslims, they know this inherently.

And embrace this:

add in the psychotic factor, which propels these men to beat, rape, and behead others, in the name of some imaginary 'god' and it's easy to see who is REALLY behind this behavior: the devil himself, who I'm sure he is laughing everytime a muslim commits an evil act on his behalf........

General Allen should trade places with his soldiers. Let's see what he does then......

"How does he face an enemy - where in some of these countries 70% or 80% of the population will be happy to kill our children, kidnap our women folk or simply be happy to murder us?"
By acknowledging the facts.
Churchill did.

The hard fact is this. The enemy outside of your lines is a threat, but can be contained. The enemy inside your lines is an unsolvable problem.

This fact is, holding conquered territories has been a problem from the beginning of man. Machiavelli in his Prince specifically advised a ruler to not hold foreign provinces unless he was prepared to move there himself. During the Civil War, one of the most vexing and unsolvable problems for the union army was the activity of southern guerrillas in captured territory.

The Spanish rulers in 1492 solved the problem of conquering Muslim-ruled Spain by expelling all Muslim from the territories. That would not be considered politically correct, but it maintained Spain as a European bastion. Similarly, Islam maintains a captive population through the mechanism of dhimmitude, or partial slavery.

What it comes down to is that it is folly to occupy a captured territory. It worked in Germany after World War II, primarily because the Germans knew it was either the US or Russia who would occupy them, and they knew the Russians would have no compunction in wiping out any resisting populations.

This is a clear lesson in history, available to anyone with the ability to read. George Bush, who got us into the Afghanistan mess in the first place, was famous for his lack of intellectual curiosity.

Incidentally, we are setting ourselves up for the situation of protracted guerrilla warfare by allowing large populations of unassimilated Muslims to enter our borders. Again, this situation has occurred from at least the times of the Roman empire. Information on it, again, is available to anyone able to read.

In the end, it doesn't matter a whole lot if the generals hug or shoot the Afghans. We are trying to set up a government in hostile territory with a culture diametrically hostile to our way of thinking. It failed for everyone who tried it, from Alexander the Great to the British to the Russians to the Americans. I wish we had a major general who could at least read a bit.

"The enemy inside your lines is an unsolvable problem."
There is a solution: You get rid of them.

If General Allen is so troubled, he needs to remember that his first priority is the safety of his Marines, not the happiness of his president.

Allen needs to resign in protest and take a stand against Chicago Jesus and at least get the ROEs changed. Until then, he's just another over-educated guy with a crew-cut.

If I was thirsty from fasting all day, I don't think that I would have the energy to be getting violent. I also don't think that the stress of fasting is a good enough excuse to be killing people. I don't a hug would solve my problems either, if I was hungry and thirsty. A lot of nonsense is spouted today and a lot of people believe it.

General Allen appears to be the military equivalent to Kelly Cook. What's at play here, the Stockholm syndrome? The new "tolerate everything/everyone" syndrome? Wishful thinking?

Awwwwwww. That is so sweet. We now have an entire army of Care Bears®.

p.s- does this give Israel the green light to fire on Iran's missile program toward the end of Yom Kippur?

I can assure that his men are his first priority. If Allen did what you have suggested, he would not be proctecting, his men but abandoning them. THE MEN, and the administraion's policies will still be there.

General Allen doesn't deserve your charecterization of him, nor does he deserve the failed military policies, this administration has bestowed on a courages combat Marine like Gen. Allen.

I'll stand by my comment, thanks. If he cared about his men as much as keeping his rank, he'd fall on his sword over this.

And, how can you assure me about his priorities? Are you on his protective detail? On his staff?

SOMEBODY needs to stand up on his or her hind legs and shout, "This is ENOUGH! I will not endanger my men to kiss the ass of traitorous "allies" and foolish presidents".

Your "assurance" means nothing.

Here's my piece on this piece of.... Obama's General: S̶t̶a̶m̶p̶i̶n̶g̶ Hugging Out Jihad http://bit.ly/OTzdh3

Officially, Allen deserves nothing less than to be court-martialed. Unfortunately, his Commander-in-Chief is as dotty and derelict of the duty in which The People have invested him as is the silver-haired multi-starred General (who has more PC MC stars in his eyes, than honorable ones on his chest).

Unofficially, the only sane alternative to this grotesque madness happened on The Bounty in 1789 (though Fletcher Christian's mutineers, as apparently understandable as their grievances were, had far, far, far less of a good reason than do our men and women in Afghanistan).

Yeah, what LemonLime said...

Note that the recent flurry of activity to halt the muders of our troops comes on the heels of several special forces deaths (Marine and Army). These are the troops shot at the Ramadan dinner and the ones shot in their unit's weight room. Special Ops Command must be some kind of pissed off at Gen Allen for not taking these steps sooner.

As the saying goes, RS tried to tell them...

Take our poor soldiers out of there, please.

You ignorant clod, allen! Can you imagine a nazi occupier establishing a closer relationship with a Frenchman by HUGGING him? Well, maybe YOU can. You are no longer a soldier but a politician. What are YOU doing that the much more brutal Russians DIDN'T do before they crawled out of Afghanistan, just as people like you did when you crawled out of VietNam, leaving 52,000 dead Americans behind you? Yeah, think of your pension and ignore our dead.

Patton would also have reduced you, allen, to point man rifleman, where your treason would kill you first.

LemonLime,

I would agree if this were the case. However, what we're failing to see is, an agenda of liberal policies. They beget and are the reasons for the distasteful, orchestrated responses we hear and read about.

The president's Cheif of Satff Gen. Dempsey, used the word "Complicit" in his statement to Iran, whereby removing himself or not wanting to be complicit, to an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Generals, i.e. 4 star officers, are accountable only to the commander in chief. They are constitutionally required to do and say as he pleases. As objectionable as some of these comments are, they do not come from the messenger.

They become generals, not by winning battles, but by kissing political anal orifices. Tough about their dead soldiers.

Well, NO!, the mission of every soldier is to destroy the enemy. Casualties are secondary. Politician allen is getting his Marines killed, WITHOUT killing mohammadans. Result? He will retire with a nice, fat pension.

Well, YES!

I didn't say the mission of every soldier was to take care of himself, to be safe. They are there to kill the enemy and break all his stuff as quickly as possible.

However, having spent many hears in the Army in leadership positions, I can tell you that, in battle, the primary concern of a commander is to minimize casualties in order to complete the mission.

And, when deciding between saving the lives of my troops and obeying Chicago Jesus, I'd choose saving my guys.

years, not hears. Hmpf.

Re: Gen Dempsey's relationship with POTUS, you said:
"...constitutionally required to do and say as (POTUS) pleases."

Not to be nit-picky, but officers can refuse to follow unlawful orders, even when those orders are from POTUS. There would be hell to pay, of course.

Back to the "complicit" remark, I think it was an idiotic thing for Dempsey to blurt. I would usually blame this on a slip of the tongue or jet lag, but due to the poor quality of senior leadership exhibited in our desert wars, I assume he's just another imbecile.

Respectfully,

The statement was an anouncement made by the State and messaged by General Dempsey.

As expressed in a prior comment, the words used by the General, were calculated and culled to connote an illegality in Israel's inevitable action directed at Iran's nuclear facilities.

Frank Gaffney, wrote an article entitled, Making Our Military Submit To Shari'ah. Included in the article, is a piece from Diana West, who addresses this Liberal agendered policy. The policy, was ordered by the State to be implemented pursuent to a guide and followed by our military.

Although Flag officers like Allen and Dempsey impose the rules, they have to follow them as well. Unless you want our military leaders to commit acts of insurrection, it is totally unfair for them to be rediculed in front of a computer screen for following orders.

Make your own assessment, I made mine and it doesn't include the castigations I've read in response to what was said by Allen or Dempsey, written in recent JW articles.

From the article - "one of our battalion commanders publicly and openly hugged his Afghan battalion counterpart,"..

I'm surprised he wasn't stabbed in the back.

When UK MP Stephen Timms shook hands with a sweetly smiling Muslima, next thing that happened was that with her other hand she shoved a knife into his gut.

Soldier's guide to surviving Afghanistan war - written 92 years ago

we read: “Avoid shaking hands with a strange Pathan. They will seize with their left hand and stab with their right.”

Dom; you're such a whiner. You don't want to be "castigated" then don't post dumb stuff on this blog... start your own and delete away everything you don't like.

"Generals, i.e. 4 star officers, are accountable only to the commander in chief. They are constitutionally required to do and say as he pleases. As objectionable as some of these comments are, they do not come from the messenger."

If General Allen really believes in the horseshit he spouts, then he's execrable, for the orders he's duty-bound to follow would also reflect his opinion -- which is an outrageously wrongheaded and reckless opinion. And he works for us, the people. If a janitor I hired instead of actually cleaning the building I paid him to clean threw sewage water on the carpets and let vandals burn the furniture, and even instructed his janitorial assistants to befriend those vandals and drink tea with them, I'd not only fire him, I'd call the cops on him and sue him.

If General Allen, however, does not agree with the horseshit coming down on him from on high from his Commander-in-Chief, then all I ask is that he telegraph some subtle message to us, as a hostage prisoner might to the police when his kidnapper forces him to sit for a video recording and read some script -- just some brief flicker of the eye registering the faintest whisper of the slightest glimmer of the panic and fury and outrage he has to endure in following these monstrously unconscionable orders.

Then we'd know he's human, and not some bloated Leftist balloon with stars on his pajamas that pass for a General's uniform these days.

LemonLime,

I inadvertantly erased my intended response to your comment. I will say however, as a former Marine and a combat wounded veteran, that I share your passion, but respectfully decline your abstract assessment.

Does that mean you don't want General Allen to show the public through some non-verbal cues that he's on our side?

LemonLime,

The days of MacArther, Patton and the warfare they were engaged in, are long gone. I don't think, I have to tell you that in todays world, warfare is quite different.

Since and like Viet Nam, the enemy is no longer uniformed and therefore unrecognizable. What augments and compounds the problem today is, that the enemy is not only invisible, not only in our midst, but protected, covered and capable of striking at will. Adapting and being exposed to this type of warfare, requires diametric strategies, opposing those, that are commonly associated with past battlefeild engagement.

Well, whats my point? My point is this. Publicly denouncing strategized policies by a military leader, even in a subtle way, will only serve to undermine their effort in any conflict, let alone Afghanistan. What would our coalition allies or for that matter, their subordinates think, if Allen were to do as you have suggested. LemomLime, there is no middle ground. For Allen, it's either subordination or continue with the prevailing orders.

I am as impassioned as you are, however, in the face of the enemy, it's support that's needed not castigation, even if you don't agree with Allen and how he has feild implemented and carried out, a distasteful politically correct policy.

Respectfully,
Domenick

That's MacArthur, knucklehead.

"I am as impassioned as you are, however, in the face of the enemy, it's support that's needed not castigation, even if you don't agree with Allen and how he has feild implemented and carried out, a distasteful politically correct policy. "

No, actually, it's the duty of non-military citizens precisely to articulate a public conversation of criticism of their military's strategy, operational philosophy, and/or behaviors -- whenever the strategy, operational philosophy, and/or behaviors are found wanting.

That's how, in a free democratic society (yeah, yeah, I know, the USA is a "Republic" -- but it's also democratic generally speaking), the people control the military and not the other way around, as occurs in military dictatorships. In America, the ongoing multi-tiered sociopolitical conversation eventually (hopefully) percolates to the political representatives in Congress, and also (hopefully) becomes reflected in a Presidential candidate more conducive, rather than less, to a better military policy. This would never happen if the people, as you recommend, just slavishly "supported" the Generals du jour.
