That would be wunderbar, if it really did spark fury; but I fear that's careless hyperbole (and perhaps an assumption of the perennial unicorn, "backlash"?) on the part of the by-liner.

Nah, there's no fury -- not anywhere in the West -- for this most pertinently infuriating situation we're all in.

Thanks for the link to that news article. There are so many things wrong with that article, it almost ruined my day thinking about it. I'll take a break, get out in the sun, and tackle that demon later today.

I think there is a strong case that the 1st amendment means any christian religion. Americans have the freedom to be baptist, methodist, lutheran, catholic, etc and the government cannot be preferential but the government was christian. was not one of the first things the us government did to have prayers said?

I don't think the constitution protects religion in general be it jehovah witnesses, mormons, scientology, islam, hinduism, etc.

If you don't believe me try become a worshipper of molech and claiming the burning of your first born child in the fire of molech is your religious freedom. you will end up far from free on death row after you engage in your "first amendment constitutional freedoms". on a more mundane level polygamy is not allowed.

I would hazard that the founding fathers, seeing what actions the practice of islam in the USA motivates, would ban islam. If you think otherwise please correct me by giving me a better understanding of their historical mega-narrative.

The Constitutional protections have allowed Wiccans to operate freely in the U.S. military as chaplains. Soldiers have been ordered to burn Bibles sent to Muslim countries by missionary groups.

Mormons in Utah and Arizona have been hunted and imprisoned (Warren Jeffs) for statutory rape and polygamy. Muslims in Dearborn, MI have a wife, a niece, a cousin, and an aunt--four wives, in other words and many times receiving public aid.

Students at my daughter's public school cannot pray at school, unless they are Muslims. Muslims are given a quiet room and an extra locker to store prayer mats. During Ramadan the presiding staff is told not to chew gum or have even a water botlle in the Muslim students' presence. Look, I pray always and everywhere and so do my children. I'm not going to get in a fight with the school over setting aside mass time for my child. By the same token, if you belong to a faith that requires separation, special gear, etc. in a public school, you belong AT HOME or in your masjid, not a public school.One annoying aspect of this: the district is heavily Jewish and heavily liberal, and they are the ones who defend this crap whenever it arises. The area as a whole is very Catholic but they send their children to private schools.

I cannot agree that Christians are given any sort of edge in this country now. Many times a Christian stands up for a secular principle, and other religions, in the name of diversity, get special status. Please identify a situation where Christians are trampling other religions' freedoms.

Surely you jest. Your right to freedom of worship ends where another person's right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" begins. But if you are a Muslim, and want to rid your family of a divorced woman, kill her and tell the police she threw herself into a table. Multicultural sensitivity can trump a murder investigation, in Florida anyway.

You may have something of a point about the First Amendment being intended as religious liberty within the broader Christian tent. Indeed, in those days, even Unitarianism made much of Jesus Christ and was very Bible-centered, wrestling with every verse in the prophets, John, and Paul no less than the Anglicans, Presbyterians, and Congregationalists.

Yet I also note that a number of the founders were, indeed, ex-Christians to one degree or another. Further, George Washington's letter to the Touro Synagogue in Rhode Island made it pretty clear that Washington, at least, felt that the new Constitution envisioned the small number of American Jews as citizens rather than a tolerated minority (as they were even in places like the Netherlands). And, come to think of it, they did not envision pagan Indians as citizens, even if they entertained the hope that the Indians might ultimately become Christianized and absorbed.

Of course, Judaism, of all non-Christian religions (and I count Evolutionary Materialism as a non-Christian religion), has a rather unique relationship to Christianity, in that roughly 75-80% of the Christian Bible (the Old Testament) is simply "The Holy Scriptures" to Jews. How our founding fathers might have cast the First Amendment if there had been a likelihood of widespread Muslim immigration or, as you note, Molech-revival at hand is anyone's guess--although I suggest that it might have given them pause and led them to be a little more careful about the bounds of their proposed religious liberty.

And not only in Germany.

Now, the story I will share is a little bit different from your idea - your idea is broader, and I fully support it, not just for Germany but for other countries - but in Sweden, in Malmo, a Jew who had had enough of being harassed by Jew-hating Muslims as he walked to synagogue organised a 'kippah walk'.

He was joined not just by many Jews, but *also* by Gentiles of good will - including one politician - who wished to show solidarity.

Jews March to 'Wear Kippot on Heads, not Hide in Knapsacks'

It's a start. A small, small start; but all things have to begin somewhere.

Perhaps Silberstein's idea can be picked up and run with by others, not just in Europe - in the UK, Italy, Germany (it would be an *excellent* idea to hold just such a walk down the middle of the very street where this attack on the rabbi and his daughter took place - but make sure, first, that you have at least a couple hundred people, mostly male, Jew and Gentile), France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium - but also in certain cities of Canada and the USA, and at certain university campuses throughout the West, and in Australia.

Perhaps, in some places, where Jews are being harassed on the Sabbath, Gentile Friends of Zion should arrange to walk with them, en masse, every Sabbath for a month, or two months, or three; aiming to get more and more people. And when such walks of solidarity are being planned, *every* serving politician in the country - but especially the ones within whose 'patch' the walk is taking place - should be invited to take part.

PS - You may like to know that although, as a practising and professing Christian, I wear a Celtic cross pendant from Sunday through to Friday, on Saturdays - that is, the Jewish Sabbath - I exchange it for a Star of David, and I wear that Star all day, as a tiny act of solidarity with my elder brothers and sisters of the Jewish faith, and with the jihad-beleaguered Jewish state of Israel. It reminds me to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Imagine if, on some university campus where Jewish faculty and students were being harassed by Muslims, *every* decent Gentile on campus donned the Star of David and wore it regularly. That would tell the Muslims that the *rest* of the non-Muslim world was standing with the particular part of it that they are currently targeting; that we deem an attack upon Jews an attack upon ourselves.

Muslims are cowards, bullies, liars and thugs; they back down if they encounter overwhelming force.

They will attack one rabbi and his little girl; but they might think twice about attacking four or five hundred large, muscular adult male infidels, *all* wearing yarmulkes or Stars of David, and ambling down the street with no-nonsense expressions...and some accompanied by very large dogs.

Yarmulke looks too similar to an Islamic skullcap - otherwise, the above would be a great idea.
