Lebanon: U.S. embassy burning classified documents

Clearly they expect to be the next embassy stormed by the enraged devout. “U.S. diplomats in Beirut burning classified material,” from the Associated Press, September 17 (thanks to all who sent this in):

WASHINGTON (AP) “” Diplomats at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut have started to destroy classified material as a security precaution amid anti-American protests in Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle East and North Africa.

A State Department status report obtained Monday by The Associated Press said the Beirut embassy had “reviewed its emergency procedures and is beginning to destroy classified holdings.” It also said that local Lebanese employees were sent home early due to protests by the militant Shiite group Hezbollah over an anti-Muslim film produced in the U.S.

In Washington, a State Department official said there was no imminent threat to the heavily fortified Beirut embassy, which is about an hour away from where the nearest demonstration is planned.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss security procedures, said the decision to “reduce classified holdings” was routine and made by embassy staff….

Yeah, sure.

There’s a reason for this – Nightwatch reports the following:

[US-Libya: Update: The British news outlet, The Independent, today published a detailed list of the extent of the security disaster in Benghazi, which goes beyond the tragic murders. According to The Independent, laptops were stolen that contain lists of Libyans who cooperate with the Americans, classified papers were taken and classified data was compromised.

NightWatch cannot corroborate the statements in the article in The Independent. However, NightWatch can attest that anytime a sensitive US facility or asset is seized, secrets are compromised. An organized and carefully planned penetration of any diplomatic facility anywhere could afford a disciplined attacker access to sensitive information that jeopardizes far more lives than the four Americans killed this week.

Finally, for the record, Readers should know that the authoritative source for information on the security arrangements at US embassies around the world is the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security.]

That’s right – shoo! Go away, USA!

It’s because of your silly foreign policy that Islamists have almost emerged triumphant! Those nations were just fine under the leadership of secular strongmen. Now that the genie of democracy has been summoned, it will be very difficult to put back in the bottle. And it must be put back, if the malignant ideology of Islam is to be contained!

There is no question that the orchestrated chain of events that is occurring across the planet among those who support Islamic jihad against Western Values is growing.

One is given to the feeling that what is going on out there is not going to tap down. We are hearing of troop movements everywhere, both in NATO as well as Israel itself.

Nearly 30 nations are headed into the Straits of Hormuth to conduct exercises, clearly it is more then that. The straits are but only 22 miles wide between Iran and just North of Dubai. Could we be seeing the smoke from these movements? Certainly Hezbollah appears emboldened just as are other Islamist groups in the region since there is this perception of weakness and indecision from the Obama regime. Many Americans are leaving Jerusalem do to these troop movements let alone the unstable activities occurring in Syria. Lebanon’s Hezbollah leader Nasrallah was seen publicly pushing the rabid faithful to rise up against the West and America, he is rarely seen in public.

One is left with the thought that as we hear from the Alinksy followers on the left in America, the Islamist may not want to let a good crisis go to waste this time.

“…heavily fortified Beirut embassy…” Huh-uh. And where but in Muslim lands does America have to have heavily fortified embassies? Kinda’ says it all for those who can see it all (this would naturally, of course, exclude the MSM in the West, whose collective blinders are exceeded by no others in history).

What? They’re STILL burning Classified documents? The news has been reporting this for the last two days. This is beginning to sound like a repeat of the USS Pueblo that got captured by the North Korean navy in 1968. I met one of the seamen on that ship and he told me the Pueblo was carrying 7 tons of Classified documents when it sailed into the Sea of Japan and the crew desperately tried to burn those documents before it was captured.

Oh, well, we never seem to learn anything from our mistakes.

Just an addendum to my above comment. Here it is: To the extent that America must have heavily fortified embassies in non-Muslim lands, I would vigorously argue that it’s PRECISELY because some of Mo’s deluded followers may attack American embassies wherever they may be. In short, remove Muslims from the American diplomatic scene and American embassies are overwhelmingly safe. Add the Muslim picture to things and American embassies most anywhere are vulnerable. Thanks again, Islam, for NOTHING.
