Libyan official says protests were planned, not spontaneous, and had nothing to do with movie

Belying the Obama Administration's lies about the demonstration being "spontaneous" and focused on the movie. "No demonstration before attack on US Consulate, source says," from FoxNews.com, September 17:

An intelligence source on the ground in Libya told Fox News that there was no demonstration outside the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi prior to last week's attack -- challenging the Obama administration's claims that the assault grew out of a "spontaneous" protest against an anti-Islam film.

"There was no protest and the attacks were not spontaneous," the source said, adding the attack "was planned and had nothing to do with the movie."

The source said the assault came with no warning at about 9:35 p.m. local time, and included fire from more than two locations. The assault included RPG's and mortar fire, the source said, and consisted of two waves.

The account that the attack started suddenly backs up claims by a purported Libyan security guard who told McClatchy Newspapers late last week that the area was quiet before the attack.

"There wasn't a single ant outside," the unnamed guard, who was being treated in a hospital, said in the interview.

These details appear to conflict with accounts from the Obama administration that the attack spawned from an out-of-control protest. The Libyan president also said Sunday that the strike was planned in advance.

U.S. officials, in response to the claim that there was no demonstration at the time of the attack, told Fox News there was a small protest earlier in the day -- but they did not dispute that there was no significant or sizeable demonstration at the time.

But a senior Obama administration official told Fox News on Monday morning that the Libyan president's comments are not consistent with "the consensus view of the U.S. intelligence community," which has been investigating the incident, and are accordingly not credible.

"He doesn't have the information we have," the U.S. official said of Libyan President Mohammed el-Megarif. ""He doesn't have the (data) collection potential that we have."

The Libyan leader told CBS News' "Face the Nation" on Sunday that the government in Tripoli harbors "no doubt" that the Sept. 11 attack that killed U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans was "preplanned, predetermined." That assessment conflicted directly with the preliminary conclusion offered on Sunday by U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, who appeared on all five Sunday morning talk shows.

There, Rice maintained that the Benghazi incident "was a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired in Cairo, as a consequence of the video," and that after the protest outside the U.S. consulate gathered steam, "those with extremist ties joined the fray and came with heavy weapons."

Asked if the timing of the Benghazi incident - the eleventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks -- was simply a coincidence, the senior U.S. official said on Monday: "It is coincidental. All evidence we have points to this video being the spark of these events. In all of the intel and traffic, there was no one out there saying, 'Oh, it's September 11th, we must avenge...'"

The senior U.S. official added that this is "the consensus view of the U.S. intelligence community at this point," and that Rice "was not out there volunteering her own opinions."

The official also discounted as "not accurate" reports that staff at U.S. embassy in Egypt warned the State Department -- in a cable purportedly sent on the afternoon of Sept. 10 -- about the effect the anti-Islam video was having, and the likelihood of violent protests in Cairo, but received no response from Washington.

Susan Rice v. Mohammed el-Megarif:

Given that some of Megarif's colleagues in the revolt against Qaddafi were known Qaida followers and sympathizers, he'd probably be in a position to get at least some useful intelligence.

Susan Rice's view that the riots were spontaneous reactions to a video by obscure persons, and the Obama administration's initial, strident condemnations of the film, suggest that Susan Rice was saying lines given her by an administration that may very well harbor ambitions to severely curtail First Amendment freedoms.

We need to have more videos - well made ones. All the brouhaha seems to build up audience interest and points to a new and lucrative genre. Maybe Disney could be enticed.

As Chico Marx, now parading around in the person of Susan Rice (career hack), once said, "Who are ya gonna believe, me or your own eyes?"

What's up Doc ? Warner Bros has as much reach as Disney. . . :-D

Let's see, who has more credibilty; the Obama Administration...or the Libyans? Perhaps the question should be put another way: Who has LESS credibility? Unfortunately, it's a tough call...

Oh good, now Obama isn't even waiting for the Muslims to destroy our embassies, now he's destroying them himself.
Diplomats at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut have started to destroy classified material

If he'd treat our embassies like the sovereign soil of the United States (which they are) instead of like sitting ducks in a shooting gallery, we'd be better off.
Col. Hunt: Libya Embassy Guards had No Bullets - The State Department just allowed our guys to get killed

Who's side is Obama on anyway?

From the photos I saw of the Libyan consulate, your average 7-Eleven has more security than our consulate in Libya, is that how you defend the lives of Americans in a war zone?

Hey Vlad,
Those embassies don't need a lot of protection since Obama and Clinton are so sympathetic to Muslim sensibilities. I've heard they don't even lock the doors at night.

I see, they operate them on the Muslim honor system (is that like "honor killings"?) scary thought.

Libyan President Mohammed el-Megarif told NPR, “The idea that this criminal and cowardly act was a spontaneous protest that just spun out of control is completely unfounded and preposterous.” It was, he claimed, a military-style attack. This matches claims that there was no obvious protest presence before the strikes on the Benghazi consulate and that grenades were used. It remains to be seen if al-Qaeda was involved, but it has urged a campaign of terror against US representatives.

This administration is the worst ever America has elected. Apologizing to muslims at the expense of our freedom. Even the muslims are contradicting Obama. How bad can it get guys? OBAMA = Enemy mumber one of USA

Yeah. Give him Sergeant Hulka's Big Toe come the elections.

Sam, you are right. I'm not American and have never lived under a U.S. government but seeing as every free man's personal compass points to the United States and we can all have a worthy opinion on U.S. politics, I would have to say that Barack Obama has to be the worst (to my knowledge) President that the United States has ever had.
If he was Prime Minister of Great Britain, or the chancellor of Germany, he would be just as seditious and just as terrible.
Please my U.S. friends, for the sake of sanity and the love of God, make sure that come November, you do everything you can to make sure that Obama has no second term. If I could vote, then I would, but it's out of my hands. It's all down to you!
Don't let your country or the rest of the World down.

I'd like to second your opinion, Softly Bob, that Obama is the worst President in American history. He's run up more debt in less than four years than did two hundred years of Presidents. He's easily the most anti-business President of all time. He has turned his back on Israel (Poland and the Czech Republic too). He has brown-nosed the Islamic world ad nauseam (and, fittingly, according to the latest polls, the Islamic world hates America now even more than they did under Bush). He has refused any tort reform and will never say no to any union demand. He is a redistributionist par excellence. He is not a friend of either the First or Second Amendment. And I have it on very good authority he is loathed by much of his own military. The man is appalling.

He also is dumb. He thinks Austrian is a language, didn't know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day, didn't know what the capital gains tax was in a debate against Hillary Clinton four years ago, pronounced the "ps" in corpsmen and recently referred to "Polish death camps." He's a doofus without balls. Anyone voting for him in November is a fool. Romney ain't great but he's almost infinitely preferable to the Doofus-in-Chief. I'd say Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan look not so bad compared to our pathetic 44th President. To hell with Mr. Hope and Change.

Good reply to Softly Bob. Unfortunately, our MSM continues to tout the O as "the most brilliant" President in our history, gives him every benefit of the doubt, and 49% of our population has been brainwashed into thinking they're allowed to live off everyone else. Worst of all, half of the white people in America feel they exorcise their demons of racism by voting for a man who, given his East African Muslim antecedents, is probably more closely related to people who more recently hunted and sold slaves than any white Southerner now living. Hence, the O will probably be back in the Oval Office next January. I don't welcome it, but, once again, the Republicans have listened to their enemies and picked someone who will run a lackluster campaign and refuse to point out this administration's real vulnerabilities.

But there's also something else that bugs me no end. It turns out that the brouhaha about Obama being Kenyan-born came from his literary agent for his first autobiography (the only sort of thing the O is capable of writing, it appears, and even that with the help of a ghost). So, the whole "birther" movement wasn't even hatched by the O's enemies. This all goes to show what a marvelous, careful, fact-checking, conscientious bunch of people we have deciding what gets into print in these United States.

Hey Hey !!! Talking about film making, why not let us Brits get in on the act. How about 'Muhammad and Gromit' ... well Muhammad liked dogs didn't he ?

Muslims are poisoning dogs in Spain, what would they do to dogs globally.

While it is manifestly true that Obama is fostering tension between his administration and Israel, the other two charges seem empty. I presume you must have the early warning radar in Czech lands and the anti-missiles on the Polish soil in mind. There is no betrayal there, I am sure. To the contrary, Obama had respected the Czech public opinion, which was rather strongly against any foreign bases. Chalk one up for him..
Although Obama does hurt North American national interests by his pro Sharia policies, the notion that he is the worst American president in modern times is debatable. After all, he had nothing to do with setting the disastrous course the USA sails in foreign policy ever since the fall of communism in the USSR.
Who was it that betrayed the Russian people by claiming victory over them? They had thought that they themselves were the winners; they lost a powerful enemy and gained a great ally in addition to freedom, and democracy. Next they knew, however, they were and still are being put down as losers! This point was driven especially deep into the Russian psyche, when USA and NATO attacked the Serbian people multiple times in recent history, helping their enemies steal territory from them, while the media regularly made reference to the fact that Russia was Serbia's traditional best ally and friend! "Look, Ma, I'm beating the Russian bear's little brother, and he's too pussy-like to do anything about it!."
It also was not Obama, who envisioned Ukraine and Georgia in NATO, nor did he betray the nations of Abkhazia and Ossetia by denying them rights to nationhood and sovereignty. This last one is especially egregious transgression against the very principles the Free West claims to uphold.
For those a little weak on the historical context here, Abkhazia had been a sovereign state already some three-thousand years ago. It went into the Russian Empire as a sovereign state just like Georgia, since both had asked for annexation so as not to be left hanging low on the branch for the Turks to pluck; therefore, one might expect that both should have the right to regaining sovereignty upon the falling apart of the empire, or of its heir - the USSR. But meanwhile, someone had waved a magic-wand and made Abkhazia and South Ossetia into parts of Georgia. Who was the culprit, you ask? A Georgian, of course!
Why is NATO/USA carrying out Stalin's will? If elected, will Romney continue this foolishness? Interestingly, the answer is already a firm Yes! Romney had unequivocally stated that that Russia will retain her designation as a Number One geopolitical foe! This is presented as not a declaration of enmity, but just a natural fact common in relationships between big countries. You know, you are not my bitter foe, but just a geopolitical one..
The assertion that Russia is America's greatest enemy {and vice-versa} just because of geopolitics is seriously vulnerable: The notion lacks tradition. For instance, if America had seemed destined to be Russia's enemy to the Russian tzar, he would not sell it Alaska, would he? Let's not even get into how important the two countries were to each other as allies during WWII, rather let's look into the present day American interests regarding Russia. Firstly, is it the very country that bothers American politicians? Would they like to see the planet Earth diminished by one-sixth of its dry land by having Russia go Poof? Would the world be that much better off? The answer is No, obviously, since Russia is a sparsely populated country, which is no ecological burden on the world, but rather a great plus for it due to its natural resources, the vast forests producing oxygen, etc. Therefore, it is not the land but the Russian people whose existence feels like a burden (to the American politicians}. Let's consider this idea as reasonable for a moment - then the question is, who would we like to see peopling Russia instead. With Germanics out of contention since WWII, there are only three theoretically possible candidates for substituting Russians: muslims, Indians, and Chinese.
Treating Russia as #1 geopolitical foe may very well lead, directly or indirectly, to one or all of these candidates' over-running of Russia. The mechanism of this changing of possession is very simple, we already see it in progress - in order to sustain its economical capability to compete in armaments with her self-professed Number One geopolitical enemy, the USA, Russia is allowing in ever greater numbers of foreigners. Muslims are taking over Moscow, Chinese labourers and businessmen are flooding into Siberia. Soon, in fifty years or so, we should see Romney's dream come true - the Russian Islamic Federation. I suppose that the rationale is that it will be the only way to keep peace in Europe, for it is a given that otherwise a powerful Christian Russia would be too great a provocation to the Great Islamic Britain, Islamic France, Spain, Denmark, Austria, Germany, etc. Of course, Islamic Russia might not like the heathen USA much, but that's nothing a little Jizzya could not take care of.
One thing is for sure, the Arabs, Pakis, Indonesians and other muslims have been beside themselves these past seventy years from laughing at how both the heathen West and East compete for their favors. Divide et regnum..
I know this will sound outrageous to you, but I believe that America should think of Russia as a big Israel, whose existence is beneficial to the Free World, and act adequately before it's too late.
So, who is better, Obama or Romney? Wrong question - it should be Who is Worse?

Agreed! Well said. Best summation I've heard.
How does the US have such a wrong-headed attitude toward Russia?
Is it a leftover from the hostility towards Communism?
Or do those who hate Western Civilization hate Russia too because they see it as a part of Western Civilization
Russia is, or should be, the natural ally of the US.
The battle to save a constitutional US and what's left of the Anglosphere of the British Empire and the Western Democracies and a Europe of traditional nation states is one with the battle to save Russia.

In other words: the heirs of old Eastern and Western Christendom *need* each other.

(While not forgetting that there is a nascent 'christendom' in Africa, well worth supporting and encouraging, and a potentially game-changing transforming presence in China).

Some interesting news from Russia, just in: the citizens of Moscow are protesting against the building of mosques, and seem to be gaining a few 'wins'.

Mosque-go! Muscovites rally against Muslim center project

The thing that gets me about this story is that it is *so* similar to, say, Pam Geller's campaign against the 'Ground Zero mosque', or the ongoing campaign by citizens of London against the hideous, monster mega-mosque that Tablighi Jamaat want to build in London, and the campaigns being mounted by a very brave and smart British lawyer, one Gavin Boby, against the mosques that are trying to pop up like mushrooms all over Britain (he's scoring a few 'wins', too).

@dumbledoresarmy
in reply to me and Slovan you said

"In other words: the heirs of old Eastern and Western Christendom *need* each other."

If that was a question then the answer is definitely Yes.
If there was any sanity or decency in the US state department this would be obvious and there wouldn't be any question about it, or if they disagreed, as they apparently do, they would come out and state their reasons clearly to the American people, which they haven't.

Benjamin Franklin said to those signing the Declaration of Independence
"We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately".

We need a second declaration of independence, a Declaration of Independence from Islam.

What we are doing now could get us all "hanged seperately".
Fighting Islam from the ground up, with blogs and ground zero mosque protests is good, maybe it will educate the woefully ignorant American public.
But it is not "hanging together".
If we were to all hang together our leadership at the highest level would understand the threat of Islam and would direct the entire might of Western Civilization to the defeat and eradication of Islam.
To change our leadership should be our intermediate objective.
We almost had a leader who understood the threat of Islam in Rick Santorum.
I look around and see few others who get it, maybe Allen West.
