Reza Aslan exposed

Islamic supremacist Boy Reza Aslan is a Board member of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC); his Twitter tag line says: "Simultaneously an American spy working to bring down Iran and an Iranian agent working to bring down America." Apparently only the second part is true. I have long warned that this arrogant clown was not the "moderate" he is assumed to be, and now that is incontrovertible.

PHILADELPHIA, September 14, 2012 – Federal District Court Judge John B. Bates for the District of Columbia yesterday granted summary judgment for Seid Hassan Daioleslam, editor of the English Iranian Lobby website "In Search of Truth: Reports on Mullahs's lobby in US," the defendant in a defamation suit brought by Trita Parsi and the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). Judge Bates also ordered sanctions against Parsi for failure to comply with the discovery phase of the litigation. The Legal Project coordinated and financed the defense of Mr. Dai; Sidley Austin LLP represented him pro bono.
Trita Parsi sued Seid Hassan Daioleslam for defamation in April, 2008 after Mr. Dai's investigative reporting exposed Parsi's and NIAC's deep and incontrovertible ties to high-level agents of the Iranian regime. The suit went through 53 months of litigation that included 24 months of discovery and over 30 court motions. These ultimately confirmed the accuracy of Mr. Dai's investigative reports.

The case reached national prominence when Parsi's e-mails (produced during discovery) not only confirmed his ties to the mullahs but also that he has delivered lectures to the CIA, briefed Secretary Hilary [sic] Clinton and visited the Obama White House starting in 2009. As recently as this past July, he was hosted by Senior Adviser to the President Valerie Jarrett.

"Judge Bates decision in favor of Seid Hassan Daioleslam is a victory for both the First Amendment and our national security," said Sam Nunberg, director of the Legal Project. "Mr. Dai has been the victim of a predatory lawsuit simply because he exposed the direct connection between the Iranian Regime and NIAC. In light of the sanctions ordered against Parsi, this decision should also serve as a warning to all Islamists who seek to use our courts as a shield in order to intimidate researchers who work to expose them. I also would like to commend Sidley Austin LLP and specifically Mr. Timothy E. Kapshandy for his tireless effort in defending Mr. Daioleslam's rights under the First Amendment."...

How Reza Aslan whitewashes Muhammad's caravan raids

First, notice how Aslan, on pages 82 and 83 of his book No god but God, makes Muhammad's caravan raids look bloodless:

By declaring Yathrib a sanctuary city, Muhammad was deliberately challenging Mecca's religious and economic hegemony over the Peninsula. And just to make sure the Quraysh got the message, he sent his followers out into the desert to take part in the time-honored Arab tradition of caravan raiding.
In pre-Islamic Arabia, caravan raiding was a legitimate means for small clans to benefit from the wealth of larger ones. It was in no way considered stealing, and as long as no violence occurred and no blood was shed, there was no need for retribution. The raiding party would quickly descend on a caravan -- usually at its rear -- and carry off whatever they could get their hands on before being discovered. These periodic raids were certainly a nuisance for the caravan leaders, but in general they were considered part of the innate hazards of transporting large amounts of goods through a vast and unprotected desert.

Though small and sporadic at first, Muhammad's raids not only provided the Ummah with desperately needed income, they also effectively disrupted the trade flowing in and out of Mecca...

Why does Reza Aslan make no mention of what core Islamic texts say about those raids, for example, what happened at Nakhla, where for the first time Muslims succeeded in finding a caravan to target? See page 287 (425 in the Arabic) of the earliest Muslim biography of Muhammad:

They [the Muslim raiders] encouraged each other, and decided to kill as many as they could of them and take what they had. Waqid [one of the Muslim raiders] shot Amr bin al-Hadrami [one of the caravan's leaders] with an arrow and killed him...

How Reza Aslan misleads about Muhammad's marriage to 9-year-old Aisha

On pages 64 and 65 of his book No god but God Reza Aslan claims that Muhammad did not consummate his marriage to Aisha when she was 9:

...Aisha...was nine years old when betrothed to the Prophet...And while Muhammad's union with a nine-year-old girl may be shocking to our modern sensibilities, his betrothal to Aisha was just that: a betrothal. Aisha did not consummate her marriage to Muhammad until after reaching puberty...

Why doesn't Aslan mention what the core Islamic texts tell us?

From Sahih al-Bukhari, the most canonical hadith collection:

Narrated 'Aisha:
that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

Narrated 'Aisha:
that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that 'Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death)."

Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88:

Narrated 'Ursa:
The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).

Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 236:

Narrated Hisham's father:
Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old.

Many other core Islamic texts could be quoted in a similar vein.

If Islam is truly a Abrahamic religion, the title would have been there is no god but Yahweh..

But oftentimes, we hear Mohammedans say "there is no god but Allah".

So no, Islam is not an Abrahamic religion.

The phrase, "no god but Allah" proves "Allah" is not just another word for "God" to the Muslims. The transliterated phrase from Arabic reads, "La ilaha illAllah". A word for word translation into English would read: La [no] ilaha [god] ill [except or but] Allah [Allah]. The important thing to note is that the word "Allah" is a name and is not the word for god. If "Allah" were the word for god, then the phrase would read, "there is no Allah but Allah". Clearly it does not. The Qur'an itself claims that Allah is the personal name of the Islamic god: (17:110) "Say, Call Him Allah or call Him Ar-Rahman; whatever the name you call Him, all His names are beautiful." If "Allah" were the word for god, then Islam’s god is nameless. There is also no evidence that the word "Allah" is a contraction of the words "al ilah", which means, "the god". If it were, then again, the phrase would read: "there is no allah but allah".

P.S I don't know who wrote this, but I find it important to share with you.

The former is just Reza going the extra mile for the jihad; the latter is the reflexive defense mechanism of all Muslims just doing the Jihad of the Garden-Variety.

I'm no expert in Arabic, though I've had years of study in Latin, Greek, French and Italian. And as I've dipped a little into Arabic (only because of the accursed Islam), I've noticed that word forms mutate quite remarkably depending on placement and syntax in a sentence, and one can usually see the resemblance in the mutations only if you look closely. Example, many people would not notice that shirk is present in the word mushrikoon.

So it may be that in this phrase, "ilaha" is just a mutated variant spelling of "allah" anyway, mutated because of its placement in that phrase.

Arabic, Hebrew, Coptic, Aramaic, and a number of other languages in the Semitic language family, both ancient and extant, all use what some linguists call ' trisyllabic roots'.

That is, you have a set of three consonants, and depending on what vowel sounds are added, the meaning shifts. This happens with both verbs and nouns.

Taking Hebrew and Arabic, one might compare the cognates - Hebrew shalom and Arabic salaam. The he Hebrew root involved is 'sh-l-m' (also found in the Hebrew name usually transliterated as 'Shlomo', English 'Solomon'), the Arabic root is 's-l-m'.

It makes punning and word-play tremendously easy: Muslims, of course, use this facility in one way; the writers of the Hebrew Bible *also* have lots of fun with the same facility, in a positive rather than a negative way.
