Newsday: Pro-freedom ads should come down because they might anger jihadis

Yet another dhimmi commentator counsels submission to violent intimidation. Has everyone in the entire country forgotten that the only one responsible for one's actions is oneself? Has the entire world lost sight of the fact that if Muslims commit violence because of this ad or over any other pretext, the fault and responsibility will be theirs and theirs alone?

Joseph Dolman wants us to be silent, submissive slaves lest we anger our Muslim masters. What is even worse is that Newsday prints this suicidal nonsense.

"Dolman: Anti-jihad ads in subway may be legal, but they lack street-smarts," by Joseph Dolman for Newsday, September 24:

The unwritten code of the subway says that when a situation is fraught with danger, you never want to escalate it. You never want to challenge the angry-looking guy who’s staring at you from across the aisle and muttering under his breath. Is Armageddon erupting in his head? You don’t want to find out.

Today I’m upset with Pamela Geller because she has broken the code. She has an ad going up in 10 New York subway stations that reads: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.” As a New Yorker who was present in Manhattan on 9/11, I can promise you, I don’t like jihadists any more than she does.

But is it really wise to bait them? Right now? After what has happened in Egypt, Libya and Lower Manhattan (more than once)?...

We should be eternally vigilant against attempts to check the expression of opinions we loathe and believe fraught with death, unless they pose such an imminent threat that an immediate check is required to save the country, wrote Justice Oliver Wendell Homes Jr. Who can say with certainty what the effect of Geller’s signs will be?

The issue isn’t the law. It’s common sense. Why bring this intractable psychodrama to the subway? Life is tough enough.

*****

So, what exactly does that say about Islam and its Muslim adherents?

I can say with certainly what the effect of Geller's ads will be. Americans will become educated on the aims of Islam. And that is something that we need more of, not less. We need more Geller, and a lot less girlie men like Dolman.

This article by Raymond... bears repeating... often

The Rape of Christopher Stevens

September 20, 2012 • FrontPage Magazine

By obsessing over the 14-minute YouTube Muhammad video and its maker, the mainstream media ultimately exonerates the inexcusable and murderous response of the Islamic world.

There is only one question: did those who make this movie break any law? No, they did not—and so the matter should end there, and the media should move on.

Focusing on those who did not break any American laws as a way to take the focus off those who murdered and initiated an act of war against the United States is not only misleading; it validates and gives Islamic blasphemy laws precedence over American freedoms.

Coward dhimmi Q.9:29, traitors & appeaser, the mainstream media!!

http://schnellmann.org/islam-is-a-plague-on-this-planet.html

I am not sure how relevant Holme's quote is to this particular issue. But neither were Justices Holmes or Brandeis prophets. I think they were progressives. At any rate, I Googled this quote Doleman made use of and came to the following:

"Jacob Abrams and others had been convicted of distributing pamphlets criticizing the Wilson administration for sending troops to Russia in the summer of 1918. Although the government could not prove that the pamphlets had actually hindered the operation of the military, an anti-radical lower court judge had found that they might have done so, and found Abrams and his co-defendants guilty. On appeal, seven members of the Supreme Court had used Holmes's "clear and present danger" test to sustain the conviction. But Holmes, joined by Louis D. Brandeis, dissented, and it is this dissent that is widely recognized as the starting point in modern judicial concern for free expression."

http://eca.state.gov/education/engteaching/pubs/AmLnC/br43.htm

The "imminent threat that an immediate check is required to save the country" was (it seems in this case) the idea that isolationists, Communists and other dissenters might discourage a significant enough number of Americans to refuse the draft or refuse to fight in a war.

I guess Holmes was writing about the right of "slackers" to encourage a climate of "slackerdom" in the United State in time of war. In this case Holmes felt slackers had that right or that did not present a clear and present danger.

Seems to me, (not Doleman as I wrote above, but) Dolman's use of Holmes quote is a bit of a stretch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slacker#World_wars

In the United States during World War I, the word "slacker" was commonly used to describe someone who was not participating in the war effort, especially someone who avoided military service, an equivalent of the later term draft dodger. Attempts to track down such evaders were called slacker raids.[4] During World War I, U.S. Senator Miles Poindexter discussed whether inquiries "to separate the cowards and the slackers from those who had not violated the draft" had been managed properly. A San Francisco Chronicle headline on September 7, 1918, read: "Slacker is Doused in Barrel of Paint."[5][6] The term was also used during the World War II period in the United States. In 1940, Time quoted the U.S. Army on managing the military draft efficiently: "War is not going to wait while every slacker resorts to endless appeals."[7]

Aren't jihadis an angry bunch. They are always angry. the problem is they are angry with life and alwys looking to take life away from everybody. Brain dead morons!!!

Mr. Dolman plaintively muses about Geller's brilliant subway confrontation:
"The issue isn’t the law. It’s common sense. Why bring this intractable psychodrama to the subway? Life is tough enough." You don't not realize just how "tough" life will become for those unwilling to confront blind relativism and subservience to a very evil religion.

Ignora-enemy... can I coin this word for this idiot?

What is wrong people, can't you google "Islamization of Europe" and see what happened there by reading articles and seeing videos of civil war going on in almost every European country now against the Jihadists? It is already here too. So we should not fight and give in? WHY?

That war in Russia became than secret war that last untril 1926 when we pull out of Russia. Congress didnot vote to approve of this war after WWI ended. This was the first Vietman like war we where in. It cause the Soviet Union tonot trust the america government. One Christian was sentence for life for refuseing to be draft into the army to fight. FDR pardon that man in 1934, with support ftom the military to free that man.

Islam: an "intractable psychodrama". He said it. Wow, is he ever inciting violence!!! Newsday had better man the barricades!

I am not the brightest bulb on the front porch. I only posted the background of Justice Holmes' opinion / ruling to show that it was about critics of US war policy -- whose side Holmes weighed-in on in his ruling. It was not about defining the enemy (Islamic savages) as P. Geller is doing. How much more should Holmes have come to Geller's defense?

"Why bring this intractable psychodrama to the subway? Life is tough enough."

New York has one of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. New Yorkers are strongly discouraged from doing anything to protect themselves from the gangs, thugs, and predators so common there.

Disarming a domestic population is one of the surest ways to make them totally unfamiliar and uncomfortable with the idea of self-defense. They are thus helpless victims of any predator willing to risk an increasingly remote chance of prosecution for weapons or violent behavior.

Thus, roving bands of Muslim or leftist thugs gain an inordinate amount of power in the minds of New Yorkers, including journalists, simply by being willing to initiate random acts of violence that law-abiding New Yorkers are totally unprepared to deal with, having been disarmed and castrated by a liberal administration.

The real purpose of gun control is not to provide the possibility of success in an uprising against an oppressive government. There is no possibility whatsoever of overcoming government forces domestically, and perhaps there shouldn't be.

The real purpose of gun control is to tame the population from any semblance resistance to individual threats of violence, and thus make them inordinately dependent on government bureaucracies.

So, in a sense, cowardice in the face of personal aggression is part of the heritage of living in an area whose focus for generations has been the mental disarmament of individual citizens.

"As a New Yorker who was present in Manhattan on 9/11, I can promise you, I don’t like jihadists any more than she does...But is it really wise to bait them? Right now? After what has happened in Egypt, Libya and Lower Manhattan (more than once)?..."

What about 9/11 itself? If we had not "baited" the 9/11 bombers do you think they would have thrown flower petals instead?

What happened in Lower Manhattan? Is he talking about the 9/11 bombings?

Joseph Dolman get real. Jihadists are attacking the west because it is commanded by their religion, by the Quran and the Hadiths, that they have to impose their religion and their backward ideology on the world. The very fact that you are not a Muslim makes you evil and less than human in their eyes. You dont have to look back at them. They are going to try and smash you anyways.

What is this idiot thinking about, the only way to deal with these morons is to confront them, they admire people who stand up to them and show no fear,we have to drag these savages into the 21st century or else they are going to drag us back to their primitive 7th century mindset,I just heard this morning one of these dirtbags were screaming with rage outside Goggle H.Q in Dublin, wish I and a few mates had been there,a good fed of the boots is what this dick head deserved.

Sorry, Dolman, but Holmes was ruling on false cries of "Fire!" The Geller ads are genuine cries of "Fire!" because the jihadists (aka "savages") are conducting a war against Israel and the U.S. You really don't have cause to paraphrase Holmes or Patrick Henry. Wake up and smell the bloodshed.

Who is Dolman comparing to "...the angry-looking guy who’s staring at you from across the aisle and muttering under his breath. Is Armageddon erupting in his head?"

Jihadis???
Muslims???

It says a lot about HIS attitude. I am surprised he has not been called out on that negative stereotyping....

Mr. Dolman's essential point was that the ad is provocative and, by virtue of the reactions that are to be expected from a bunch of Muslim thugs, places the lives of people in danger. Pamela should listen carefully to such words. It is one thing to place yourself in danger by your words and actions- as Pamela does- but quite another to jeopardize the lives of others. It is true that Pamela is not the criminal- but she does bear responsibility for goading the thugs who all too frequently are the face of Islam.

It is not enough simply to be right. Good communication requires that the speaker take into account the audience. I've wondered from the getgo here if the advertisement may dissuade the kind of thinking AFDI hopes to stimulate. Is that dhimmitude- perhaps.

I have a nest of bees that has taken residence just above the back door to my house. Every time I use that door it seems to enrage them; just yesterday several of them swarmed around me, attempting to sting me. I tried to explain to them that I meant them no harm--that I'm just using that door to enter and exit my home--that's it's the gateway to my deck, garage and back yard, among other things. They didn't seem to be listening--and flew off into another rage--swarming and threatening--the next time I used that door. I'm a live-and-let-live kind of guy, you know? But frankly, they're startting to piss me off! And...it's not just me--ANYONE who uses that door is subject to their attacks--imagine that! People who are otherwise not even involved! No wonder I'm more and more referring to those bees as muslims and seeing them with little turbans and mini-Kalashnikovs...

So, according to Mr. Dolman (and yourself) I should concede that door to the bees? I mean, I know I'm enraging them by using it--so it's MY responsibility, right? I've tried reasoning with them, to no avail. They simply demand control over that door. But...I consider it my within my RIGHTS to use that door in any fashion I deem necessary and appropriate--and, as such, I intend to defend my right--and if my RIGHT continues to enrage them, they will either desist from this aggressive, intolerant behavior, relocate thier residence or be eliminated.

Does anything about this little household epsiode sound familiar to you?

Joe Doleman sounds like one of Winston Churchill's appeasears who is feeding the crocodile in the hope it will eat him last.

What the Muslims are engaged in is extortion. The want to take away our rights under the First Amendment. And the way they do it is by issuing threats of violence, or engaging in violence.
If the Mafia does it here, we call it extortion and send them to jail.

It is particularly bad for a nation-state to give in to extortion.
Criminalizing making fun of Mohammed or criticizing Islam is a tenet of Sharia law. They can have it in Egypt if they want to -- but now Morsi wants us to import it here in the US. What next will they want us to adopt from Sharia law. Will they want us to kill homosexuals, stone adulterers, cut of the hands and feet of thieves, and kill apostates?
