Obama on 9/11 anniversary: "I have always said that America is at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates – and we will never be at war with Islam or any other religion"

That other jihadists hold to the same beliefs and goals as al-Qaeda, and that innumerable Muslims around the world consider Islam to be at war with the United States -- these things Barack Obama did not address. "Remarks of President Barack Obama, Weekly Address, The White House," from the White House website, September 8:

...On that clear September morning, as America watched the towers fall, and the Pentagon burn, and the wreckage smoldering in a Pennsylvania field, we were filled with questions. Where had the attacks come from, and how would America respond?

"Where had the attacks come from?" That question has still not been correctly or adequately answered in Washington.

...We took the fight to al Qaeda, decimated their leadership, and put them on a path to defeat. And thanks to the courage and skill of our intelligence personnel and armed forces, Osama bin Laden will never threaten America again.

Instead of pulling back from the world, we’ve strengthened our alliances while improving our security here at home. As Americans, we refuse to live in fear. Today, a new tower rises above the New York skyline. And our country is stronger, safer and more respected in the world.

Instead of turning on each other, we’ve resisted the temptation to give in to mistrust and suspicion. I have always said that America is at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates – and we will never be at war with Islam or any other religion. We are the United States of America. Our freedom and diversity make us unique, and they will always be central to who we are as a nation.

Instead of changing who we are, the attacks have brought out the best in the American people. More than 5 million members of the 9/11 Generation have worn America’s uniform over the past decade, and we’ve seen an outpouring of goodwill towards our military, veterans, and their families. Together, they’ve done everything we’ve asked of them. We’ve ended the war in Iraq and brought our troops home.

And Iraq is roiling with jihadist chaos.

We brought an end to the Taliban regime.

And yet the Taliban are stronger than ever in Afghanistan, control large parts of the country, and infiltrate the Afghan police and military at will.

We’ve trained Afghan Security Forces,

...who use us as a shooting gallery.

and forged a partnership with a new Afghan Government. And by the end 2014, the transition in Afghanistan will be complete and our war there will be over.

And then the Afghan jihad will begin in real earnest.

And finally, instead of turning inward with grief, we’ve honored the memory of those we lost by giving back to our communities, serving those in need, and reaffirming the values at the heart of who we are as a people. That’s why we mark September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

A travesty to the families of the victims and an outrage to the nation. December 7 was never a National Day of Service and Remembrance. It was a grim reminder that freedom comes with a price, and must be defended against vicious and ruthless enemies. That September 11 is not the same thing, but a National Day of Service and Remembrance, is an indication of our national weakness and pusillanimity.

who is "al qaeda"??
a long forgotten term anyway, these islamic jihadist fascists had mutated past that long ago, al qaeda, taliban, boko haram, etc etc etc. its all islam
he isn t stupid, he IS wilfully deceitful, taqiya mr president?

A National Day of Service and Remembrance?

Pure taqqiya from an apologist for Islam...a seditious traitor to America...a quisling.

Al-Qaeda is al-Qaeda because of Islam, so if you are at war with al-Qaeda then you have to be at war with Islam. You can't solve a problem unless you solve it at root cause.
Of course, Obama either doesn't know this because he lives in a wishy-washy Leftist fantasy world devoid of facts, or he does know this and is trying to deceive us.
I still haven't made up my mind about Obama - is he a naive fool or a cunning traitor? I suspect that he is a complex mixture of both. Whatever your decision on this, the conclusion is the same, that he is not fit to be President of the United States.
He has to go!

Well, that's why I call him Rasulullah Obama, or Rasool for short...And he does come up short...but not for Islam where he comes up long...He lies about being at war with Al-Qaeda affiliates...The Muslim Brotherhood is an affiliate and he loves the MB like brothers...So we are not at war with all Al-Qaeda affiliates, just some of them...He forgot to mention that we are aiding Al-Qaeda by supporting the jihadists in Syria...I wonder if that confuses Al-Qaeda?

As a practicing Muslim as a child he can't be so stupid that he doesn't know that "dar al Harb" is from the Koran so he must be lying.

People need to start understanding that Islam is a religion only to the extent that a wolf in sheep's clothing is a sheep.

Great, so on the anniversary of that terrible event, we can celebrate our squandering of resources on behalf of regimes that are kissing ideological cousins of the hijackers.
The next time we have one of our periodic lunatic-with-a-gun massacres some nudnik can give a speech about how unfair it would be to stereotype all maniacs as homicidal.
I love being talked down to, it's so humbling.

"As a practicing Muslim as a child he can't be so stupid that he doesn't know that "dar al Harb" is from the Koran so he must be lying."

Exactly right.

Obama on 9/11 anniversary: "I have always said that America is at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates – and we will never be at war with Islam or any other religion"
..........................................

The corollary—as to whether Islam is at war with us—is never asked...

More:

...On that clear September morning, as America watched the towers fall, and the Pentagon burn, and the wreckage smoldering in a Pennsylvania field, we were filled with questions. Where had the attacks come from...
..........................................

And why, *eleven years later*—are we still shying away from answering that question?

I just saw part of the film version of Jonathan Safran Foer's "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" last night, about one boy who lost his father in the World Trade Center.

His mother, played by Sandra Bullock, treats 9/11 like some sort of natural disaster, or perhaps a tragic automobile accident.

Not only is there no understanding of Jihad—hardly surprising in either a novel or a film these days, sadly—but there is no indication that the Jihadists had *any* motive at all—not something indicative of a partial understanding, such as their "hating us for our freedoms", or even the stupid claim that they were "misunderstanding Islam".

Nothing.

Instead, she just tells her son, "It's never going to make sense because it doesn't."

More:

Instead of pulling back from the world, we’ve strengthened our alliances while improving our security here at home. As Americans, we refuse to live in fear. Today, a new tower rises above the New York skyline. And our country is stronger, safer and more respected in the world.
..........................................

Does giving the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt boatloads of cash and participating in war games with them come under this category? How about continuing to ignore the threat of a nuclear Iran? And marginalizing our threatened ally Israel—is that part of the equation?

And those rising cries of "Death to America" in the Muslim world in the wake of the "Arab Spring"—what could they possibly be indicative of, except that our country is "more respected in the world"? sarc/off

More:

More than 5 million members of the 9/11 Generation have worn America’s uniform over the past decade, and we’ve seen an outpouring of goodwill towards our military, veterans, and their families. Together, they’ve done everything we’ve asked of them. We’ve ended the war in Iraq and brought our troops home.
..........................................

Does that "goodwill" include Afghan military and police murdering our troops? Better not to ask...

More:

And Iraq is roiling with jihadist chaos.

We brought an end to the Taliban regime.

And yet the Taliban are stronger than ever in Afghanistan, control large parts of the country, and infiltrate the Afghan police and military at will.
..........................................

Despite the sacrifice of our troops and the endless suck of treasure, Iraq and Afghanistan will be just as ugly as they were before we went in. Iraq, in fact, may possibly be even worse—and Afghanistan will be back in the full clutches of the worst Islamic regime of our times before we even finish pulling out. and why not? It's not as though Afghanistan has been anything but a Shari'ah state even after our efforts. All our continued presence is doing is preventing the Taliban from stoning women to death in the streets of Kabul.

Exactly so. There are children who will grow up without a single inkling of the threat we are under, who will instead come to believe that 9/11 is a day for clearing trash in the local park. Madness.

OBAMA = ENEMY NUMERO UNO for "diversity" sake.

What should I do on this National Day of Service? I think I might go to the Saudi Embassy in D.C. and defecate on the front steps.

Obama: "I have always said that America is at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates – and we will never be at war with Islam or any other religion."
Except Christianity.

Very generous of you, but shouldn't you wait for the end of the ramadan?

I mean Eid-ul-fitr, precisely

Well I, just one ordinary housewife, didn't ask where the attacks came from on 11/9/2001. When I got on the tram that morning and heard ther news from the passengers, I said, "Bloody Muslims!" Was there any doubt?

I wouldn't say nothing has happened.

At the *official* level, nothing or worse than nothing.

But at the unofficial, there has been a slow, deep stirring of the waters; or, to change the metaphor, a movement of the earth beneath our feet.

In 2001 there was *no* 'ACT for America'. (Now it has hundreds, maybe thousands of chapters, all across the USA, and has gained the ear of congresspersons and senators).

There was no SION.

There was no 'Jihadwatch'.

There was no 'British Freedom Party'.

There was no 'Swedish Democrats'.

There was no Geert Wilders and Party For Freedom; no Danish People's Party.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali had not stepped forward decisively and nailed her colours to the mast of the free West (*she*, too, was one of those who was shocked awake by September 11; she describes in 'Infidel' how she went back and double-checked the Islamic texts and confirmed that yes, the attack had come straight from the central script of Islam).

There was no 'Q Society' in Australia.

Australia's Rev Dr Mark Durie had been in Aceh, and had learned some things abput Islam-on-the-ground, and had witnessed the mistreatment and routine bullying of the small Christian communities there, but he hadn't yet been galvanised into an in-depth examination of Islam and its doctrines of jihad and dhimmitude.

Jacques Ellul had befriended and mentored and encouraged and done his best to promote the work of Bat Yeor, and had written his brilliant 'forewords', on dhimmitude and jihad, for two of Bat Yeor's magnificent pieces of historic research, but the word was a long way from spreading; Bat Yeor had not yet written 'Eurabia', nor 'Islam and Dhimmitude'.

Oriana Fallaci had interviewed Ayatollah Khomeini and Gaddafi and Yasser Arafat and George Habash, and had witnessed Mohammedan mayhem in Bangladesh during the war between Pakistan and Bangladesh, and she had sensed what was going on, but it had not yet crystallised fully in her conscious mind; she was yet to write 'The Rage and the Pride' (triggered by her witnessing of the assault on New York in 2001) and then 'The Force of Reason'.

There was no 'Barnabas Fund' led by an apostate from Islam, busy lobbying on behalf of and providing practical help to Christians trapped inside dar al Islam...and *also* trying hard to energise and accurately inform the Christian communities within western countries.

A lot has happened at 'citizen level' since 2001, and it is not insignificant.

Those of us who have figured it out, identified the Enemy and read the Enemy's book - indeed, books, and have (courtesy of MEMRI and the like) peered in horror at the Enemy's sermonising, boasting, threatening, plotting, ranting and raving - just have to keep on keeping on, and keep on helping *others* figure it out, too.

A jihadwatch classic, from the archives.

For all who have come on board since 2008.

Bingo, you wrote - "What should I do on this National Day of Service? I think I might go to the Saudi Embassy in D.C. and defecate on the front steps."

That might relieve your feelings, but is not very constructive.

You*could* print off a copy of *this*, in large print, and tape it up to the front fence of the Embassy for all to see...

Fitzgerald: Islamophobia? Really?

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2005/12/fitzgerald-islamophobia-really.html

It's a magnificent 'j'accuse'. I personally refer to it as 'the 27 deplorables', since Hugh repeats, like hammer blows, over and over, the phrase, 'I deplore..' or 'I find deplorable', e.g.

"...I deplore the sentiment "War is deception" as uttered by Muhammad.

"I deplore what has happened over 1350 years in vast swaths of territory formerly filled with Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, Buddhists, much of which is now today almost monotonously Islamic.

"I do not think Islam welcomes any diversity if it means the possibility of full equality for non-Muslims.

"27) I deplore the fact that slavery is permitted in Islam,

"that it is discussed in the Qur'an,

"and that it was suppressed in 19th century Arabia only through the influence of British naval power in the Gulf;

"that it was formally done away with in Saudi Arabia only in 1962;

"that it still exists in Mali, and the Sudan, and even Mauritania; that it may exist in the Arabian interior...".

Alternatively, you could hold a 9/11 memorial dinner party for some friends and have a private showing of Wilders' 'Fitna' (which begins with an absolutely unforgettable, spine-chilling juxtaposition of the recitation of one of the most bloodthirsty jihad passages from the Quran, with footage of the planes slamming into the Towers), and then pass round copies of Fern Saltzmann's grimly satirical 'Islamophobia' questionnaire for people to fill in.

Exactly right, DDA, there has been a groundswell of activity in unofficial understanding of 9/11, while officialdom sleeps or worse. But I've always believed officialdom, politicians, academia and media follow rather than lead.

I'm still on the other side of the pond and see this as true here as in the States. Keep up the pressure of truths about Islam toxic ideology's impetus for Sharia jihad, and one day the official line will change.

Yes, we are at war with Islam's Sharia, 'religion' is just a cover, a Trojan horse. But until officialdom states that fact, the war is on, victory still off. They started it, we will finish it.

@DDA and Battle_of_Tours:

I have also been impressed by the mobilization of grass-roots support for the anti-Jihad movement, and a new awareness of the urgency of Christian mission to Muslims. Further, I believe that the Red-Green [Islamic] alliance is going to sooner or later shatter.

dda, excellent post as always, thank you. It's amazing, very scary and yet somehow inspiring, to realize just how much the world has changed since 9/11.

In other words, Obama == Bush == Clinton == Bush. Tell us something we didn't know.

Two comments. I follow what Rep. West said; take them at their word. This implies we see the moslem COLONISTS for what they are and act to protect our country and our way of life.
Second, if the islamics cannot or refuse to separate their religion (sic) from their politics, so be it. This calls for a paradigm shift for the west. It suggests to me we stop allowing the moslems to shift from religion to politics whenever it suits their interests.
As Americans have always done, we welcome immigrants who want to be Americans and evaluated new comers on what they can do. It should be more than obvious the moslemite COLONISTS do not add a net gain to our economy or country when the cost of their incarceration, federal, state and local aid and illegal operations are taken into account.

Arabs must not be denied Sharia Law; it will lock them into a peaceful community of Allah worshipers. They don`t have to be concerned with the means of production it will be owned by a bunch of busy infidels making a buck.

What the current President of the United States seems not to understand is the the terrotists entities of "al Qaeda and its affiliates" are base on militant jihadist, which is part of Islam. The leaders of this country need to get a grip on the reality of the real origin od Islamic terrorism

Thank so much for that list, DDA. It is important that we acknowledge how much *has* been done by people who recognize the Jihad threat.

Here's my tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11:

Muslims didn't just declare war on America on that day, but on the West and the whole of the civilized world.

B.O. declared war on Christianity long ago.
