Pakistan: Doctor jailed for helping U.S. find bin Laden says that Pakistan sees U.S. as its "worst enemy"

"...and the government's claims that it is cooperating with the US are a sham to extract billions of dollars in American aid."

Stop the presses! If the Washington establishment read Jihad Watch, they would have known this years ago. "EXCLUSIVE: Jailed doc who helped nail Bin Laden warns Pakistan sees U.S. as 'worst enemy,'" by Dominic Di-Natale for FoxNews.com, September 10 (thanks to Kenneth):

PESHAWAR, Pakistan – Pakistan’s powerful spy agency regards America as its “worst enemy,” and the government's claims that it is cooperating with the US are a sham to extract billions of dollars in American aid, according to the CIA informant jailed for his role in hunting down Usama bin Laden.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Shakil Afridi, the medical doctor who helped pinpoint bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound before last year’s raid by SEAL Team 6, described brutal torture at the hands of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, and said the agency is openly hostile to the U.S.

“They said ‘The Americans are our worst enemies, worse than the Indians,’” Afridi, who spoke from inside Peshawar Central Jail, said as he recalled the brutal interrogation and torture he suffered after he was initially detained.

“I tried to argue that America was Pakistan’s biggest supporter – billions and billions of dollars in aid, social and military assistance -- but all they said was, ‘These are our worst enemies. You helped our enemies.’”

The ISI, Afridi said, helps fund the Haqqani network, the North Waziristan-based militant group that was last week designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The agency also works against the U.S. by preventing the CIA from interrogating militants captured by Pakistan, who are routinely released to return to Afghanistan to continue attacks on NATO forces there.

“It is now indisputable that militancy in Pakistan is supported by the ISI […] Pakistan’s fight against militancy is bogus. It’s just to extract money from America,” Afridi said, referring to the $23 billion Pakistan has received largely in military aid since 9/11....

A whole Muslim regime that sees bin Laden as a ho could have guessed it? sarc/off

We *should* have known that—and should have gotten the doctor and his family out of Pakistan. We should have known it would not be safe for him there any longer.

"Worse than the Indians"—more stupidity. India has never attacked Pakistan, but Pakistan has attacked India several times (and got their asses handed to them, incidentally).

Meanwhile, Jihadists are trying to topple the Pakistani government, and a few years ago assassinated the wife of the current Prime Minister, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

But Pakistani Muslims don't only sporadically consider them a real threat, and the ISI regularly enables Jihad.

What will happen to this doctor now, especially with his being so candid to the Western media?

I think we're going to have to nuke their nukes someday. Paki nukes are the only reason we give them so much foreign aid.

"Millions for defense, not a penny for tribute (jizya)".

The most surprising thing is that he himself appears to just found out this for himself. Surely any Pakistani immigrant could have told him: they tell me, as do Muslims from elsewhere, as they pour into our ccountries full of hate and revenge.

"“They said ‘The Americans are our worst enemies, worse than the Indians,’” Afridi, who spoke from inside Peshawar Central Jail, said as he recalled the brutal interrogation and torture he suffered after he was initially detained."

Where are all of the people who cried tears over the waterboarding of the 9/11 masterminds? Here is someone who helped the U.S., who should be rewarded by us, who has been tortured far beyond whatever happened to the 9/11 masterminds, and no one cares? What does this silence say about those who opposed Guantanamo?

This silence says a lot about them.

Interesting that the Paks haven't learned from their good Chinese friends (you know, those Communists who once forced Muslim farmers to raise swine) how to keep a prisoner silent.

I also note that Dr Afridi's arguments point to the largesse that the USA has showered on Pakistan. His plight suggests that there are some in Pakistan who appreciate it, but that the general mindset of the Pakistani government is highly suspicious and ungrateful.

Negotiate Afridi's release and emigration (with family), and then cut off all US aid.

Until America disables Pakistan's nuclear capacity, even assuming this is possible, Pakistan knows it has America by the balls, unless America would indicate in unambiguous language that even the faintest evidence that Pakistan used or conveyed its nuclear arsenal would result in immediate and catastrophic results for Pakistan. And there is really no one in America right now who has, or will shortly have, access to the corridors of power, certainly not from the Democratic Party and very unlikely from the Republican Party, who would be Reaganesque enough to make such a needed threat. But then there's no one yet in a position of great power who is prepared to make a second Evil Empire speech, a la Reagan, with Islam, rather than Marxism, the malevolent subject du jour.

Evil invariably prospers when weakness and ignorance are dealing with it. That's what's going on right now. And for now Islam is winning, though I remain optimistic that, eventually, Islam will not win. But the West needs to delve deep into its collective soul and find leaders of greatness and tremendous political ability to defeat the world's oldest totalitariann ideology once and for all. Between Islam and the West there can be no reconciliation. By now one knows this or should know it.

It seems to me that this administration should be leaning all over the Pakis to release Mr. Afridi. It is, after all, this man, and perhaps others, "on the ground" who made it possible for Obama to beat his chest and proclaim, "I killed OBL!" But Obama has a conflict-of-interest here. Pressing for Afridi's release might "alienate" the Pakistanis and violate the hackneyed fiction that they are our "friends and partners" in the region. Faced with doing the right thing or doing the convenient, self-serving thing, Obama has demostrated that he'll always choose the latter--even if it's based on a patent falsehood, like our "partnership" with a ruthless, corrupt country, most of whose inhabitants hate us and our way of life. And, that's not even to mention their brutality and contempt for fundamental human rights.

Imam Obama's history is littered with those who became inconvenient for him and were hence thrown under the bus.
Mr Afriti will be no exception. He acted for the right reasons and the right people. Unfortunately, the right people have the wrong leader-- a leader who will sacrifice him--despite his bravery on our behalf--for the sake of (false) appearances...

Best Frenemys Forever!

Bin Laden really brought the money in!!

It should be a lot of pissed off people up there.

::

But it was pretty obvious for a long time.

Remember the rebels where 60 miles outside Pakistan's capital - [after breaking that faustian Sharia law deal - the government made with them - which would have allowed them their Sharia courts - but they were to cease fighting or take no more territory - which did not happen - naturally] - and by now the world was gnawing at their fingernails - the Pakistan's leadership remained nonchalant saying - We already have Islamic law anyway!!

But once they saw all the 'concerned' hands extending to give them money to take care of 'the problem'.

They changed their tune - It was - We are under attack! - We are going to get taken over! - after which Pakistan's President embarked on a round the world begging tour. And they cleared an area of its rebels/jihadis [A lot of Pakistani soldiers lost their lives - it most be noted.]

[But with the money they got - minorities were not allowed refugee status - and along with this denied reparations for destroyed property - Christian were not allowed into refugee camps - considered "unclean"]

::

They don't want to fight these militants - it is not in their interest. It is probably seen as America's war.

It is likely they don't see America as the number one enemy - even though they may like to - it is simply too big and too powerful - the problem is likely that America's interest conflict with Pakistan aims of seeing India as the number one enemy.

Pakistan is India's enemy. If only India were Pakistan's, and returned the compliment. But honestly, I don't see how any Indian government can be anti-Pakistan, and not be anti-Muslim, and the latter in turn implies being against 13% of its own population. Ergo, one rarely sees an Indian government that is anti-Pakistan.

it is an often held viewpoint that americans are stupid but generally justified by hearsay for example, " i once met and american who..."

but this whole giving of billions to afganistan, pakistan, and egypt and supplying food to somalia and north korea is all the evidence that the wider world needs to prove americans are stupid.

however at this point lets point out not just america is stupidly throwing its money at the wrong people in aid, the rest of the west is too.

as far as i can see food aid only helps the oppressive regimes keep oppressing their poor populations and the military and other aid is so stupid there are no words to adequately describe it.

This Dr. Afridi had nothing to do with "pin pointing" OBL's location. The OBL compound was discovered in August 2010 months before Afridi was recruited by the CIA. The CIA plan for Afridi to gain access to the compound to obtain DNA samples from OBL's children to identify him failed. Still, Afridi is our guy, and we should do everything to set him free.

“They said ‘The Americans are our worst enemies, worse than the Indians,’” Afridi, who spoke from inside Peshawar Central Jail, said as he recalled the brutal interrogation and torture he suffered after he was initially detained''

Why is he being *allowed* to speak to Fox News ?

He is a *prisoner* of Pakistan, he has already been tortured and interrogated, and yet he is free to give an interview ? Colour me cynical, but I smell a hidden agenda here. Although I can't imagine what Pakistan's motive might be.

Actually, Cole, this is *not* uncommon in the Muslim world—in fact, it is pretty much the norm.

Few Muslim regimes have any real convictions over fighting Jihad terrorism as such, because it is so in line with their own views. And how could it not be? Jihad is the cornerstone of Islam.

But most of them *will* rouse themselves if the Jihadists actually threaten their own administrations.

Even then, their fight against Jihadists is often ambivalent and shot with contradictions—i.e., they'll come down hard on Jihadists in one instance, and allow them to escape under other almost identical circumstances.

This is exactly how things have gone in Pakistan.

The general rule is that as long as Jihadists are mostly targeting Infidels and minority-sect Muslims—or, even better, plotting against Dar-al-Harb—that they will be given a pretty free hand.

Infidel wrote:

.........................................

Agreed, Infidel. Like so much of the civilized world, India is rife with denial over their vicious Muslim "neighbor". Not even the terrible Mumbai attacks did much to shake that denial.

I agree with you. we should do everything to let him free. that would be the right thing to do...
M

When Osama bin-Laden was killed you positively knew where Pakistan stood in the war on terror when they vehemently protested the action instead of praising it....

Speaking as a former denizen of the aptly-named Foggy Bottom, I agree that the aid we lavish on the thieving savages of Somalia, Pakistan, and similar places is proof enough that Americans are stupid.
