"The U.S. State Department condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the feelings of Germans, Nazis and other fascists"

If 1944 had been like 2012: "German Troops Riot in Italy over Disney Film!," by Rand Simberg at PJ Media, September 23:

WASHINGTON (Routers) Outraged over the insult to their Fuehrer by a film recently released by RKO, German troops reportedly engaged in violent attacks on Americans attempting to consolidate a beach head in the area of Salerno, Italy, today. The attack was seemingly sudden and spontaneous, waged against the 36th and 45th Divisions near the villages of Altavilla and Battipaglia....

Titled Der Fuehrer’s Face, the short film that caused the uprising mocks not only Adolf Hitler, but also his aides Goering and Goebbels, and the Nazi belief system itself, and is clearly intended to do so. Featuring an insulting Donald Duck, it seems like crude propaganda, depicting Germans as cruel and stupid. It also makes fun of Hitler’s Mein Kampf. It also includes a racist depiction of General Tojo, the Japanese military leader. It features a silly and insulting song released last year by the so-called “comic” musician Spike Jones that mocks the Nazi Party....

In hopes of tamping down the sudden and unexpected bloodshed, the State Department issued a press release:

The U.S. State Department condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the feelings of Germans, Nazis and other fascists — as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all beliefs. Respect for others’ beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the feelings of others.

Exactly. I've said for some time now that if World War 2 was happening today, we would lose it.
The Nazis would stomp all over us, because our governments would be too concerned about hurting their feelings, Nazis would be allowed to build headquarters in the United States and Britain (paid for by taxpayers), and British and U.S. protesters would be campaigning in the streets against naziphobia and racism against German people.
It's a ridiculous cowardly World that we live in at the moment.

One simple response: More of this "hurting their feelings" stuff.
Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, used to suck on the tongues of little boys and little girls. (links to islamic sources provided)

Oh that 'Good' were still good and that 'Evil' were still evil. America has somehow completely lost it's 'moral compass' in the years since the the U.S. 5th Army and the the 15th English group confidently invaded the beaches at Salerno, Italy on Sept. 3-16th, 1943. My father was one of those brave souls who faced the full might of Nazi threat on the beaches 69 years ago, and I'm quite certain he did not question the moral cause of defeating Hitler's totally evil National Socialism. I am forever proud and indebted to what he and thousands of others did on those beaches and morn an America which sadly, seems no more. Would that Obama were a Winston Churchill or a George Patton - God help us against Satanic Islam!

Even worse:

President Roosevelt called Adolf Hitler and congratulated him on his recent conquest of France, and promised to send another 500 million $ in aid to the Third Reich...

P.S.: Representatives and Senators on both sides of the aisle in U.S. Congress hailed the new "European Spring" as Hitler and his Nazi Party spread across Europe, liberating one country after another.

Only four Republican senators had problems, however, and had questions about whether the Nazis in U.S. Government were not a security concern. These four senators have come under fire from their colleagues and from the press, and many see their actions as analogous to a revival of the Ku Klux Klan lynch mobs...

Oh, and the Media! My gosh! Ooops, they're already pro-Nazi, 'er Islam.

If it weren't all too true it would be amusing.

Challenge:
Next time you watch an old WWII black and white movie just mentally substitute the Germans/Nazis for Muslims. Voila! Perfect match!
(Warning: Doing this will ruin watching these movies in future.)

WE ARE AT WAR!

Isn't it hard to impossible to fight an enemy, when they have infiltrated you, heavily, at the very top levels? :

http://www.wnd.com/2012/09/muslim-brotherhood-infiltrated-u-s-govt/

http://fawstin.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-enemy-president.html?spref=tw

Maybe it is time overdue, to take the gloves off! At the least in November!

Cause among other problems, it kind of can turn around the road signs of where the troops are supposed to go to fight the enemy, as happened in WW2, with Deutsche saboteurs.

Hmmmm, saboteurs infiltrating the White House?......

"...feelings of Germans, Nazis and other fascists..."

So Germans are by nature fascists? Was that a slip of the tongue or do you really believe in this Robert?

"...feelings of Germans, Nazis and other fascists..."

The point was the analogous comparison with the problem of Muslims in our current sociopolitical context, where the PC MC view is that Muslims qua Muslims are not the problem, only the tiny minority of extremists among them. The terms of the analogy would be:

Germans -- Muslims qua Muslims, the vast majority

Nazis and other fascists -- all the various extremist Muslims (Wahhabis, Salafis, Al Qaeda, Al Shabaab, etc.)

The PC MC paradigm erects an unasailable utterly imporous wall between these two with respect to the Muslim problem; whereas the anti-Islam movement (such as it is) in its various analyses by different individuals like Spencer, et al., tends to push the envelope of examining with an open mind the degree to which, at the very least, there are holes of crossover from one side of that wall to the other (or, for the bolder among us, exploring the hypothesis that the wall itself should be scrapped altogether).

Speaking of walls -- whether Spencer would bounce over, so to speak, to the other side of this analogy and find that particular point comparatively applicable, I'm not sure; though he did publish approvingly an essay not long ago (rather lightningly yanked soon thereafter like a thief in the night without hide nor hair of an explanation) that might seem to tend to lead some to the tentative notion that he may well believe the aforementioned.

"The point was the analogous comparison with the problem of Muslims in our current sociopolitical context, where the PC MC view is that Muslims qua Muslims are not the problem, only the tiny minority of extremists among them."

I did get the point, but that doesn't seem to be an apology for this racist statement. I would say that Islam is the problem and those muslims who adhere to its teachings literally.

The truth is, it wasn't as different as you might think, DoC, even without today's "political correctness". This might either depress you or give you hope, depending.

National Geographic ran a fawning puff-piece on the "new Germany" under National Socialism, replete with pictures of Hitler Youth in the mid-1930s. The German-American Bund—a Nazi front group—held a huge rally in *Madison Square Garden* in 1939. The dais was draped in a massive swastika flag. There were a network of Hitler Youth camps *in the United States*, including in upstate New York and Michigan.

Mussolini was lauded for "making the trains run on time", and some Americans openly called for "efficient" Fascism in the US.

Those who were concerned about the Fascist threat were sneeringly labeled "premature anti-Fascists", as though Fascism wasn't plainly oppressive and anti-freedom from the very beginning, even before anyone could realize just how malignant it would prove.

Even after Britain was at war with Hitler, many Americans believed we should leave them to fight alone. Private programs like "Bundles for Britain" were sometimes lauded, but just as frequently were belittled.

There was even less interest, as a rule, with Japanese atrocities in the Far East.

Early films like Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" and Warner Brother's "Confessions of a Nazi Spy" with Edward G. Robinson were hardly universally well received, and the latter film almost wasn't released at all, because it was considered too controversial.

Winston Churchill is supposed to have said, “The Americans will always do the right thing...after they've exhausted all the alternatives.” This was never more true than in the lead up to WWII.

Of course, everything changed after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and America—*finally*—got her act together.

As I said, this might depress you—or it might give you hope.

America has waffled like this many times before—the fight to end slavery comes to mind, as well. That went on for *decades* before we finally committed to it.

But when we finally decide to join the battle, we can be magnificent.

I fervently hope this is still true.

And kudos to your father's service. My mother and aunt also served in WWII in England when quite young, as a teletype operator and supply-line truck driver, respectively.

With respect, I believe you are missing the point, Kilian.

Robert Spencer is positing a State Department that would assume that all Germans would have their feelings hurt if Fascism came under any criticism, and grovels accordingly.

That *does not* mean that their assumption would be the case, nor that Mr. Spencer believes that it would be.

For instance, I have seen several clueless assertions recently claiming things like 'the entire Arab world is offended by this film'—despite the fact that many Arab Christians, for instance, or Muslim apostates, for that matter, or some few "moderate" or lax Muslims, would not be offended by "The Innocence of Muslims" film in the least.

I believe *this* is what Robert Spencer is lampooning here.

To assume that he is implying that "all Germans are by nature Fascists" is just silly—as well as a calumny. He works with Anti-Jihad defenders of freedom in Germany all the time, and has covered this fact here many times.

"Robert Spencer is positing a State Department that would assume that all Germans would have their feelings hurt if Fascism came under any criticism, and grovels accordingly."

Wich in turns that all Germans are fascists. Why should they be hurt by criticism of fascism if their not fascists?

"That *does not* mean that their assumption would be the case, nor that Mr. Spencer believes that it would be."

This something that Mr. Spencer put into the mouth of the US state department. I don't think Mr. Spencer believed that the US state department is a racist organisation.

Therefore, I think this is Mr. Spencer's opinion. By the way, this is not the first post that showed his prejudices in relation to the German people, i.e. he posted a racist rant by someone else, which he had to delete after a storm of criticism.

1. I didn't write this piece. As is noted plainly above, it was written by Rand Simberg at PJ Media.

True, you didn't right it, but you expressly supported it and posted it!

I do understand that it was a parody piece, but there is no reason to insert racism into your parody Robert!

Cordially

Kilian

Dear Mr. Spencer, I'm glad you replied here. I don't believe you could make things any clearer.

I think this piece by Rand Simberg is a brilliant parody of misplaced "sensitivities" and the accompanying grovelling we're seeing from our "leaders".

It seems some people are so immersed in the very culture of manufactured grievance that is being lampooned here that they are unable to understand this parody.

Incidentally, my husband's family has German roots, and my married name is ethnic-German. I also—completely unrelated, oddly enough—speak some German. I am not at all offended by this piece.

Thanks for posting it.

"Obviously you have entirely missed the point of the article, and the post..."

Sure, I understand the nature of your post precisely. I am not an imbecile. This is not a reasonable supply but an ad hominem attack. I would have expected more from you Mr. Spencer.

Regards

Kilian Klaiber

Typo: "reasonable reply"

"I encourage you to study the World War II era in Germany ..."

I probably know a lot more about world war II than you do! I don't need your advice. Again, this is actually off topic. A non sequitur. Whatever happened in world war II has nothing to do with the nature of your remark. The nature is racist!

Regards

Kilian Klaiber
