Father of New York Federal Reserve jihad plotter says son incapable of planning mass murder

"He is very gentle and devoted to his studies," says papa. And even though the university spokesman contradicted him, it could be true: he could be a gentle, studious soul. His studies of Islam could have led him to the conviction that he needed to wage jihad against Infidels.

He could be a decent fellow. According to former Detroit Public Schools Superintendent Eddie Green, Kifah Jayyousi was “a great guy, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.” While Green was superintendent, Jayyousi oversaw the Detroit school district’s capital improvement program. Later, Jayyousi was charged, according to the Detroit Free Press, with “conspiring to kidnap, maim and murder by providing money, recruits and equipment for Islamic struggles in Bosnia, Kosovo and Chechnya from 1993 to 2001.”

Christopher Paul, a martial arts instructor at a mosque in Columbus, Ohio, was also a terrific guy. Ahmad Al-Akhras, vice chairman of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations chapter in Columbus, said: “From the things I know, he is a loving husband and he has a wife and parents in town. They are a good family together.”

Yet Paul, a Muslim, was charged, according to Associated Press, with “providing material support to terrorists, conspiracy to provide support to terrorists and conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction.” He was accused of training with Al-Qaeda in the early 1990s, training people for violent jihad attacks on targets in Europe and the United States, and more.

According to a Southern California friend of Raed Albanna, who killed 132 people in a suicide attack outside a medical clinic in Iraq in 2005, “He was into partying. We hit some pretty wild clubs in Hollywood.” Frank Lindh, the father of John Walker Lindh, a.k.a. Suleyman Al-Faris, the convert to Islam from Marin County who joined the Taliban and was captured in Afghanistan fighting against American troops, has said: “In simple terms, this is the story of a decent and honorable young man embarked on a spiritual quest.”

Great guys all. Some partied and some embarked on a spiritual search, but they all ended up in the same place, committing acts dedicated to furthering the cause of jihad, or facing charges of having done so.

But they may be genuinely decent fellows. It was the Nazi genocide mastermind Heinrich Himmler who told a group of SS leaders: “Most of you know what it means to see a hundred corpses lying together, five hundred, or a thousand. To have gone through this and yet -- apart from a few exceptions, examples of human weakness -- to have remained decent fellows, this is what has made us hard…”

Were these SS mass murderers really decent fellows? To their friends and family, they probably were. After all, they weren’t interested in undifferentiated mayhem. They were adherents of a totalitarian, genocidal ideology that convinced them that the murders they were committing were for a good purpose. As far as they were concerned, their goals were rational. It was a necessity for them to remain “decent fellows,” for they were busy trying to build what they saw as a decent society. That their vision of a decent society included genocide and torture did not trouble them, for it was all for -- in their view -- a goal that remained good.

Today’s jihad terrorists are likewise the adherents of a totalitarian, genocidal ideology that teaches them that murders committed under certain circumstances are a good thing. And those murders, here again, are not committed for their own sake, but for the sake of a societal vision hardly less draconian and evil than that of Adolf Hitler, but one also that portrays itself as the exponent of all that is good -- as the Taliban showed us. But the continued reference to such people as “terrorists” pure and simple, and the refusal of the media and most law enforcement officials to examine their ideology at all, only reinforces the idea that these people are raving maniacs, interested solely in chaos for its own sake. The society they want to build, and the means besides guns and bombs that they are using to build it, so far remain below the radar screen of most analysts. These people are just “terrorists,” interested only in “terror.” And so we’re continually surprised when they turn out to be nice guys after all. Decent fellows. Like the SS.

"Father of Bangladeshi man who allegedly tried to blow up Fed building in NYC says son incapable of such actions," from Fox News, October 18 (thanks to Kenneth):

DHAKA, Bangladesh – A Bangladeshi man accused of trying to bomb the Federal Reserve building in New York City is a banker's son from a middle class neighborhood whose family members said Thursday that they were stunned by his arrest.

The FBI arrested 21-year-old Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis on Wednesday after he tried to detonate a fake 1,000-pound car bomb, according to a criminal complaint.

Prosecutors said Nafis traveled to the U.S. on a student visa in January to carry out an attack.

His family said Thursday that Nafis was incapable of such actions.

"My son can't do it," his father, Quazi Ahsanullah, said as he wept in his home in the Jatrabari neighborhood in north Dhaka.

"He is very gentle and devoted to his studies," he said, pointing to Nafis' time at the private North South University in Dhaka.

However, Belal Ahmed, a spokesman for the university, said Nafis was a terrible student who was put on probation and threatened with expulsion if he didn't bring his grades up. Nafis eventually just stopped coming to school, Ahmed said.

Ahsanullah said his son convinced him to send him to America to study, arguing that with a U.S. degree he had a better chance at success in Bangladesh.

"I spent all my savings to send him to America," he said. He called on the government to "get my son back home."...

At one point, according to criminal complaint, Nafis told undercover agents: "I don't want something that's like, small. I just want something big. Something very big ... that will shake the whole country, that will make America, not one step ahead, change of policy, and make one step ahead, for the Muslims ... that will make us one step closer to run the whole world."...

When will Americans learn that being "nice" just means being pleasant and is not a virtue? The convoluted, diabolical deceit of jihad sanctioned by Islam includes such behavior as smiling while you get close enough to stab the intended victim and then claiming self-defense.

Oh, boo-hoo-hoo. Islam is the tribe of perpetual losers and whiners. They need to STFU or be made to do so.

Hollywood invented it in the thirties sometime, where the mom pleads with the judge, 'But your honor my son is a good boy, he just got into the wrong crowd, please don't send him to reform school'...
That's another thing Islam did not invent, but Mahoundians make good use of it regardless...

Unbelievable, and scary how these monsters can play the victim at the drop of a pin, especially after being caught red handed, or busted after a long standing plot.

The denials that are issued, even with all the evidence presented, is a bit creepy.

@ Mary: dead on... And 100% agree.

Tanner

And here Robert makes an excellent point. These people are seen as 'great guys'!

But for me I've always struggled with forming a useful distinction between the ideology and the person. I think that most people would all agree that there is a distinction between Muslims and Islam - and that Muslims are, by and large, great people but the ideology of Islam is problematic.

So following this line of logic we could say that...

Not all communists are bad people
Not all fascists are bad people
Not all white supremacists are bad people
Not all KKK members are bad people
Not all Nazis are bad people

... or could we?

At which point does this become no longer true? Does the distinction lie in that one believes in an ideology but does or doesn't act on it?

Do we make a distinction between Islamists, Muslims, and people who follow Islam?
I'm confused! Thoughts?

BDNews24 Oct 18, 2012: Cops raid Nafis' Dhaka residence Bangladesh online newspaper, quoting Reuters.

His father Quazi Mohammad Ahsanullah is a Vice President of the National Bank," Deputy Police Commissioner (Detective Branch) Monirul Islam told bdnews24.com.
VP of the National Bank - is that someone so poor that he can claim that he spends his life savings sending his son to the US to study ?
What is it with bankers' sons - Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab the Christmas Day 2009 underpants bomber is the son of one of Nigeria's most prominent bankers and chairman of the first Shariah-compliant bank in Nigeria.

According to the complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, Nafis travelled to the United States in January 2012 on a student visa.
If he was he studying in the US, where, and isn't there any check on whether those entering as students go on to attend classes?

Once in New York, he claimed to be in contact with al Qaeda members overseas, although federal agents found no evidence that he was working for al Qaeda or that he was directed by the organisation, according to Reuters, who quoted a US official seeking anonymity.

The complaint also said that Nafis planned to create an anarchy that could upset the US economy. He initially planned to kill a high-ranking government official, whom the US official identified as President Barack Obama. Later, he changed the plan and targeted the Reserve Bank, New York Stock Exchange and the US Military base in Baltimore.

To create a cell to help him carry out the bombing, Nafis began to seek out recruits, eventually bringing on board an undercover agent working for the FBI. The infiltrator supplied him with the fake explosives to ensure that the bomb did not go off and catch Nafis red-handed.

Meanwhile, his arrest has created more discomfort for the Bangladeshis living in the US.
Here we go again, unbridled backlashophobia

You get killed by a person, not an ideology.

There's a discernable profile of jihadi attackers, perhaps not universally but certainly frequently applicable: young dropout loser seeks spiritual redemption through doing Allah's will by killing kuffar.

An individual muslim will not necessarily make a violent attack on us, but Islam contains an ever present justification for an attack. Muslims will not put their religion through a reformation to expunge it of that justification.

Father of New York Federal Reserve jihad plotter says son incapable of planning mass murder

"He is very gentle and devoted to his studies," says papa.
...............................

Yeah, yeah...I bet he also prays five times a day and regularly goes to Mosque...oh...wait...

More:

And even though the university spokesman contradicted him...
...............................

Perhaps "his studies" refer to Islam, and not the university that he used as a ruse to gain access to the United States? I wouldn't be surprised. Then again, dear old dad might just be lying. It would hardly be the first time...

But in any case—as noted—he might seem decent and affable. Appearances can be deceiving, especially with pious Muslims.

More:

...Great guys all. Some partied and some embarked on a spiritual search, but they all ended up in the same place, committing acts dedicated to furthering the cause of jihad, or facing charges of having done so.
...............................

I'm even sicker of the "he partied, so he can't be a Jihadist" shtick than I am of the "he was such a nice boy" shtick. As though "partying" is indicative of solid Western values.

Indeed, for some Jihadists, having a background that includes drinking, dancing, and flirting (or more) with the opposite sex can actually provide a *motive* for violent Jihad. In Islam simply becoming devout, praying and observing Ramadan is not considered enough to get him into paradise and save him from the fires of hell.

Even going on the Hadj and embarking on a career of Da'wa may not be enough—but murdering Infidels in an act of violent Jihad is considered a sure-fire way—indeed, the *only* sure-fire way—of getting a sinner into Jannah.

...............................

A *vital point*. Even a lot of otherwise savvy Anti-Jihadists don't seem to realize *what Jihad is for*. Oh, terrorizing and murdering filthy Infidels is lots of fun, but the real purpose of Jihad is to impose a Shari'ah state.

More:

However, Belal Ahmed, a spokesman for the university, said Nafis was a terrible student who was put on probation and threatened with expulsion if he didn't bring his grades up. Nafis eventually just stopped coming to school, Ahmed said.

...............................

This brings up another question. Even good grades at third-world institutions don't always translate to good students at first-world universities. But if this guy was a terrible student even back home in Bangladesh, what American university would accept him? One more interested in his father's money than anything else, I would imagine...

More:

"I spent all my savings to send him to America," he said. He called on the government to "get my son back home."...

Sure. Why should a little thing like *plotting to wage violent Jihad on innocent Americans* interfere with bringing sonny boy back home to Dar-al-Islam? sarc/off

...............................

Why bother making something of yourself when you can accomplish the same thing by murdering the filthy Kuffar?

You get killed by a person, not an ideology.

There's a discernable profile of jihadi attackers, perhaps not universally but certainly frequently applicable: young dropout loser seeks spiritual redemption through doing Allah's will by killing kuffar.

An individual muslim will not necessarily make a violent attack on us, but Islam contains an ever present justification for an attack. Muslims will not put their "religion" through a reformation to expunge it of that justification.

"I think that most people would all agree that there is a distinction between Muslims and Islam"

Sure: the latter is a culture of ideas, the former are people who support/enable/follow/practice that culture of ideas.

" - and that Muslims are, by and large, great people but the ideology of Islam is problematic."

The phrase "by and large" is vague, and therefore useless -- unless you want to support propaganda to defend innumerable numbers of Muslims from scrutiny.

Secondly, any number you posit as the number of "great people" is useless -- for our self-defense -- unless those "great people" can actually be identified and pinned down. If a small group of Muslims were at an airport and the security personnel had just received notice that a plot was going to take place at an unknown time that day, how would you know which among that group of Muslims is a "great person" and therefore harmless and not part of the plot? The ones wearing blue jeans, smiling, and listening to their ipods?

Unless you have a magic key that enables us to tell the difference -- the real difference, not some guess based on your squishy Kumbaya ethics -- then we must, for the safety of our society, assume any given Muslim (= all Muslims) are equally deadly. The high number and global dispersion of Muslim violence, as well as the long period of time it has been going on (years, decades, fucking centuries), is good reason for us to adopt this rational prejudice against all Muslims. In addition, we have all the mass demonstrations all over the world by Muslims for decades indicating their fanaticism; and we have the absence of any mass demonstrations by Muslims against Islamic fanaticism -- not to mention also various polls indicating that majorities in various Muslim societies believe in the fanatical insanity of hudud blasphemy laws and other barbaric provisions of shariah, indicating a sociopathic mindset that is obviously part and parcel of the deadly jihadist mentality.

"So following this line of logic we could say that...

"Not all communists are bad people
Not all fascists are bad people
Not all white supremacists are bad people
Not all KKK members are bad people
Not all Nazis are bad people

... or could we?"

Whether we "could" or not, we have a good test with Nazis (and Japanese Imperialists of WW2): We already did treat them en masse as our enemy, and we bombed the shit out of them to win the war, not because we are warmongers, but because they were just that megalomaniac and deadly.

"Do we make a distinction between Islamists, Muslims, and people who follow Islam?
I'm confused! Thoughts?"

I don't see why you're confused. You have either not thought about this carefully enough; or you are dense. There is no third option. (Well, there is a third option, but I'll be generous and not mention it for now...)

There are books like "Snitch" and "Mean Justice" which illustrates the corruption that is our legal system and the lengths to which cops and prosecutors will go to get a conviction. Public Employees are now dictating law enforcement policy in that that "bodies" mean job security and power. Only idiots get behind the social genocide that are things like the three strikes law and the war on drugs. The name Martin Niemoeller means absolutely nothing to most people, even the readers of Jihad Watch. I preach to the air when I beg people to read "Taken Into Custody" and "The War Against" familys so that they'll understand the genisis that is the decline of the Family unit and Fatherhood in America. I keep trying to show people the symptoms of the disease that is destroying America. I'm a construction worker who watched my wages doing drywall go from sixteen bucks and hour down to eight thanks to wetbacks coming here and stealing other peoples opportunities...including their own people. But me and millions of others have been sold out by government and public employees.

As far as this goes I can see it as a good way to send a warning to others who think they might want to come here and harm America.

Never forget though that our government is just as much an enemy as the terrorists or illegal aliens. My credo is, and always will be, "Love my country-Hate the government"

Clinton, Obama et al.

They're depraved on account of being deprived.

Ahem....
