New anti-jihad ad campaign to roll out across NYC

America.jpg

"Defend America, Defeat JIhad -- The Display of This Advertisement Does Not Imply MTA's Endorsement of the Views Expressed." This is just too good.

Pamela Geller has much more on her brilliant campaign here.

"Conservative Pamela Geller to Expand Anti-Jihad Campaign With New Bus Ads in NYC," by Billy Hallowell in The Blaze, October 2 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Pamela Geller, a blogger and the executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, isn’t done with her anti-Jihad advertising blitz. On Monday, Geller told TheBlaze, exclusively, that she submitted an expanded campaign that will bring her controversial advertisements to the New York City bus system.

As TheBlaze has extensively reported, Geller has been in a long and complicated battle with The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the company that owns and operates the city’s subway, train and bus systems. While the MTA initially attempted to ban the ads last year, a judge ruled in Geller’s favor, leading to a decision to post them at numerous subway stops last month.

But the contention didn’t end there. On Friday, we reported on the transit group’s controversial free-speech decision to revise its advertising standards as a result of the incident. The MTA, via its official rules, now reserves the right to ban ads that “would incite or provoke violence” — a decision Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz is calling “plain dumb” and “unconstitutional.”

Despite the controversy and the uncertainty surrounding the violence provision, on Monday Geller submitted the new, expanded ad campaign that will bring the ads to the bus system. Previously, the anti-jihad messages were only present at 10 subway stops. While the activist told TheBlaze in an e-mail interview that she hopes to see the posters run “as soon as possible,” she said she won’t be surprised if she needs to head back to court to ensure they run.

In terms of the number of buses that will include the amended ads, Geller said that this factor is still under consideration. The monies to continue the effort, she claims, are coming from donors who respect her work and the cause.

“The campaigns are funded by a large number of small numbers who support our struggle for free speech,” Geller told TheBlaze.

These new ads will differ slightly from the original version that was posted on the NYC subway system. While they will still read, “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man,” the words beneath the slogan will be changed to reflect other groups, aside from Israel, who Geller believes deserve support against radical Islamic forces.

Among those nations and cohorts that the new ads will defend against jihad are: America, Coptic Christians, Hindus, Thailand, Nigerian Christians, Baha’is and — once again — Israel.

“I wanted to demonstrate the global character of the jihad — that it is against non-Muslims of different faiths and perspectives, all over the globe,” Geller said of her decision to diversify the new ads.

The controversial blogger and activist also said that her group will add the disclaimer that the MTA now requires — another change to the ad standards that was put in after her court battle with the transit authority.

“This is a paid advertisement sponsored by [Sponsor]. The display of this advertisement does not imply MTA’s endorsement of any views expressed,” the disclaimer that must be placed on political, religious or morality-themed ads will read.

While Geller has no problem adding the wording to each message, she plans to ensure that the rule is applied fairly to all political and religious submissions. If the regulation isn’t followed and the disclaimer fails to be applied to other potentially-controversial ads, the blogger has a one-word answer regarding what her next steps will be: “Sue.”...

Go, Pamela!! ..yes, other groups need support, as well--thank you, dear Pamela!

All over the world - everyone is being asked to show special respect for Islam - from Australia, to Thailand - Europe - Russia - the US - Canada - and everyone else is at fault - everyone else needs to change - and to do things better - so that Islam and Muslims can be accommodated.

See if you can spot what is wrong with this picture!

Excellent news! Go Pamela!

I wish you guys would leave the "mohammad is a manifestation of allah" Bahai's out of it.

You can't defeat jihad if you embrace messianic muslims (Baha'i) who's mission is to convince Christians and Jews to accept mohammad as a prophet/manifestation.

No matter what happens to Baha'is in Iran (the only place they are bothered), they will continue to push the faith of multiculturalism "Unity in Diversity" onto unsuspecting Christians and Jews.

It's their mission to have all Christians and Jews embrace islam as an equal faith.

You can never convince the Baha'i to denounce and walk away from islam because the Baha'i Faith is based completely on "Progressive Revelation"

If mohammad is not a prophet, then Baha'u'llah is not the second coming of Isa.

One day even Robert and Pam are going to have to acknowledge all that I have written in this comment is totally true. One day the baha'i New World Order will have to be defeated.

So, the disclaimer means that an allowable implication is that the MTA supports the genocidal imperative to push the Jews into the sea as history's most recent incarnation of a Final Solution. Thus the definition of Jihadist Savage can be construed to include the MTA and many suicidal Jews who support the MTA's message evidenced by the disclaimer, by implication of course.

The MTA disclaimer could be clarified by replacing ENDORSEMENT with ENDORSEMENT OR NONENDORSEMENT.

The federal constitution demands content neutrality.

Those ads cover so many bases ...

Good work, Pamela! ..yeah it reveals just how many areas of our lives islam and company have negatively impacted us (which is certainly putting it mildly).

islam and JIHAD are of course connected, so islam be gone!

WOW! Good work. We can add even more to the list.

Very clever. Positing jihad which is, let's face it, a form of evil, against a myriad of what jihad can result in harm to, shines the light of truth on things exceedingly well. Only deluded Muslims, dumbass leftists and dimwitted dhimmis (some overlap between these last two) will oppose this very smart approach to bring home to most everyone what a menace Islam (yeah, it's ultimately Islam; without Islam there's no damn jihad shit) is to so many and to so much.

It is interesting to note who turn out to be enemies of free speech, of our constitution, of America. It is none other than mainstream medias “moderate muslim” darlings, those of that “majority”.
Up on stage and well illuminated, the likes of aslant, ibrahim cooper and the recently activated mona eltahawy perform for an ever awakening American public to whom their cloak of "moderate muslim" has worn down to a flimsy transparency.
I guess that these individuals are suffused with so much Islamic culture that it makes it impossible for them to realize the fight they face in their attempts to defend their Islamic murderous culture whilst trampling on our cherished American rights.

"Support the Bahais" ...."Support the Copts"......"Support the Hindus"....."Support the Nigerian Christians".........Excellent. This is the way to defeat Islamofascism- by ALL religions coming together and shaming the 'Ummah'.

P.S.Apparently the vast majority of Brits are now "Islamophobes".

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/02/poll-islam-negative-britain

When will someone start printing "PROUD TO BE AN ISLAMOPHOBE" T-shirts? I think they just might sell very well.....

Go brave heart Pamela, go! I admire your tenacity and guts. My check is on the way to support this noble cause. May God always protect the freedom fighters like you and Robert.

Defend Common Sense ...

I'm kidding of course, as far as having that be an ad; but more often than not, common sense is completely forsaken where islam and company are concerned.

Thanks Pamela!!!In a sane world there would not be one single dispute about these ads which are TRUE if we want to defeat savages = JIHADISTS = ISLAMISTS = YES MUSLIMS.

Defend universal human rights. Defeat jihad, sharia.

Defend democracy, freedom and individual liberties. Defeat jihad, sharia.

Awesome.

Once you get Main Street to support you, beware of the Clintons, the Bushes, the Obamas, and other dhimmi politicians of all stripes. They will all want to climb on board and push you off, pretending they have not been in bed with the Islamists all this time.

The future must not belong to those who pander to the false profit of Islam.

I would love to see the ad with a caption:

"defend underage girls - defeat jihad"

Great! Just a suggestion:

The rest is fine.

Repulsive how the media keeps whitewashing islam. The muslims who perpetrated the terror attack, where 46 people were massacred, in Nigeria today are labeled as "attackers or gunmen" instead of muslims or islamists, islam is hardly or never mentioned:

https://news.google.com/news/rtc?ncl=dlQ_M43tfRf1nzMERQm3M4ZxsQ_lM&topic=w

And check this out:

"... the gunmen wore military attires and told the students to identify themselves by name. He said some of them were spared after mentioning their names... "

They didn't kill those with muslim names, they kill every non-muslim on sight but remember... keep mum about islam or muslims, don't mention them... or else!.

Good one, thomas_h. Very good. Nothing better than the whole unadorned truth to defeat Islam, eh? Hope you are doing well, my friend.

what about Defend women, Defend Women's rights, Defend Freedom of Speech.

Haven't read all the details yet but just by scanning down the list of new ads I can see that this is a brilliant move. By shifting the focus away from Israel alone and onto all the other countries/groups/religions facing jihad the problem is immediately highlighted: it's a global phenomenon of terrorism and persecution, the common denominator of which is Islam.

Congratulations, Pamela. Absolutely brilliant!

This is one kick ass woman. Holy s**t!

I don't think this could have been done any better. An inspired move, really.

If you ever wondered if Obama is a conscious political manipulator, check out this 2007 video. In front of a black audience, he uses a voice with a cadence and accent very different from what the national audience has become familiar with in his speeches.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/10/02/obama_2007s_race_speech_no_more_highways_out_in_the_suburbs.html

Here's how the Daily Caller describes the video:

The racially charged and at times angry speech undermines Obama’s carefully-crafted image as a leader eager to build bridges between ethnic groups. For nearly 40 minutes, using an accent he almost never adopts in public, Obama describes a racist, zero-sum society, in which the white majority profits by exploiting black America. The mostly black audience shouts in agreement. The effect is closer to an Al Sharpton rally than a conventional campaign event.

I'm with you grungyoldvan. Bahais not only tend to go out of their way to defend Muslims (why do all these New Agey Orientals, like the Dalai Lama and Ghandi, do that?), but their very theological/historical nature 00 being a "peaceful" "variant" of the wonderful "tapestry" that is Islam -- sends the wrong signals to a senile Western Lion already befuddled with its own political correctness.

Bahais have made their own bed -- being strange Stockholm Syndrome bedfellows with their own oppressors, Muslims -- so let them lie in it, or stop lying about Mohammed and, like the great Farrah Fawcett, burn the bed and escape.

The one other suggestion that I have is that the multiple variations occur too deep in the message to be noticeable. Perhaps the text needs to be reversed:

Support Thai Buddhists
Defeat Jihad

In any war between the
civilized man and the savage,
support the civilized man

Rich, I think you have created a great slogan. Defend human rights. Defeat jihad. I believe the juxtaposition of the words "savage" and "civilized" man in the current ads conjurs up the image of an innocent native people (think Palestinian) being unjustly slaughtered by invading, (supposedly)more civilized foreigners (think Israeli), a phenomenon with plenty of historical precedent.

Accordingly, that savage/civilized man wording creates sympathy for the Palestinians and by extension for Muslims in general. Moreover, many might be put off because the word "savage" is coarse with racial overtones. It's too close to calling Palestinian arabs (and by extension all Muslims) "niggers."

The language of the current ad is apt to sway public opinion in exactly the opposite way AFDI wants. If I were a Madison Avenue advertising exec, I would susbstitute the word "fanatic" for savage and "reasonable man" for civilized man and then tag on Rich's phrase, "defend human rights, defeat jihad."*

Brilliant, again!!!

"Defend Freedom: Defeat Jihad" summarizes and defines this total all out war of unprecedented scale.

I couldn't have put it better myself. This is something I've been saying for some time.

I wrote to RS about the ads being too Jew/Israel centric. Its not just Israel's fight against Jihad with the rest of the world watching and taking sides in a slugfest between two opponents.

Its a battle between all the free world and an evil totalitarian, backward and barbaric ideology, seeking to impose itself with violence, threats, intimidation and deceit on the world, where every country is involved.

He didn't agree with me then, but now I see America has been taken into account.

Defend America Defeat Jihad would have a far greater appeal than just Defend Israel Defeat Jihad and far more difficult for people to denigrate.

There are other countries involved too, Europe, Nigeria, Sudan, Dafur, South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, India, Thailand, Phillipines, and other religions - Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Bahais, and atheists.

As for the juxtaposition of the 'civilised man' and 'savage', the use of the words "civilised man" and "savage" have spurred a huge debate about their use and taken the focus away from the evils of Jihad and their perpetrators and sympathisers.

In Pamela Geller's interview on CNN, Erin Burnett expressed a misconception about Jihad.

Erin Burnett ".. but the word Jihad actually means struggle and (intel...?) in the Quran you make yourself a better person, it doesn't mean just going outside and suicide bombing people"

PG rightly pointed out that "..in the Quran nothing speaks to spiritual struggle its all holy war and Jihadists that are committing Jihad are citing chapter and verse of the Quran while committing Jihad?"

EB "That maybe but I dont think THERE IS ANYBODY IN THAT RELIGION that would be alright with that and masses of Muslims would say that Islam is a religion of peace and love, just as Christians would say or Jews would say"

Now this (Jihad) should have been the focus of the discussion, instead it was around savages and the civilised man.

In Arabic, "jihad" means struggle. In Islam, that is in the Quran and ALL the 100's of hadiths where this has been referred to, unequivocally it means holy war. There is only one weak Hadith which refers to it as a spiritual struggle and this has been declared to be a fabrication by Muslim scholars.
http://www.religioscope.com/info/doc/jihad/azzam_caravan_6_conclusion.htm

The attack in the ad should be reserved for the ideology of Jihad (and of course by extension of Islam though we cannot say so as yet - a tactical error which Pamela Geller does not make.)

The ideology of Jihad can be called "barbaric", "vicious", "immoral", "abhorrent", "hateful", etc etc., English is a very rich language, without having to divert ones energy to defending the use of the word "savage".

Then Jihad can be explained for what it is, quoting the Quran, the Hadiths and the Jihadists themselves, who also quote the same sources.

"I believe the juxtaposition of the words "savage" and "civilized" man in the current ads conjurs up the image of an innocent native people (think Palestinian) being unjustly slaughtered by invading, (supposedly)more civilized foreigners (think Israeli), a phenomenon with plenty of historical precedent."

You're correct. This is the powerful meme of the dominant and mainstream PC MC all around us.

The question is, do we continue to anxiously cringe and try to avoid it by constantly apologizing and saying "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound bigoted" -- or do we meet its bullying irrationality that has been pervading our sociocultural atmosphere (in schools, academe, politcs, news media, popular culture) head-on and keep hammering away without apologies?

I say the latter approach is what we need. I wish Andrew Breitbart were alive, and I wish the Counter Jihad had a million Breitbarts to shout down this nonsense by which the mainstream dictates what is permissible to say, and what not.

I went further into this in my recent essay on my blog:

"PC MC Self-Police needs backup, 10-4..."

Rich, the savage - civilized man juxtaposition strikes me as very poorly thought out for the reasons we cited above. It's ineffective to bring home the central issue of the anti-jihad movement - the deprivation of human and civil rights. Moreover, the language is unnecessarily strident and is apt to alienate many interested citizens who are not yet fully familiar with the issues. AFDI needs to consult some public relations and media professionals in order to more effectively get their message across in these public ads.

Interestingly, one can draw a parallel between the counter-productive ad language and the language so often used on Jwatch.org. I suspect there are many people who, like me and perhaps yourself, support the stuggle against jihad and repressive Islamic theocracies and who consider themselves liberals, leftists and or progressives. Unfortunately, that entire group of people people sympathetic to the goals of Jwatch are alienated by the employment of derogatory terms, eg., leftists tools, fascists, thugs, traitors, etc.

It's time RS, PG, and affiliated orgs adopt a more measured use of language that will better convince people of the correctness of their thinking. People need to have their consciousness raised. Assaulting them with antagonistic or coarse language is not the best way to accomplish that goal.

Bravo, Pamela.
And it is a brilliant plan to include many others apart from Israel in the ads.

But I, too, agree with some other posters :
1. Exclude Baha'ís. Even though they suffer at the hands of muslims, they will almost never criticise islam.
2. The word 'savages' was used for us Indians prior to 1947 by the British. Please think about avoiding mention of savages. Many other words exist which can replace it.

But even as they are, the ads are AWESOME.
More power to you and Robert.

The most wonderful thing about these ads is that they have got people talking about jihad.
Instead of being a taboo topic, it is being freely discussed and at all such discussions, if any islamorealist is present, he/she can put their point forward far more easily than they could before the ads.

'The word 'savages' was used for us Indians prior to 1947 by the British. Please think about avoiding mention of savages'.

so the word be reserved for indians? forever? this is more damaging than what you intended to convey.

i am disturbed by the word 'pagan'.Hindus can be called idolators/idol- worshippers.that's a fact. no offense on that.

the ads., are for the commons.period.

Though I admire them for their courage in their fight against the repressive Islamic ideology, I am not a cult follower of RS or PG as many over here seem to be. Any criticism or suggestion contrary to their views are attacked, often with abuse.

Why are you fighting tooth and nail for the defence of the word savage?

Once having used the word "savage" and "savages", PG, and RS seem to have fallen in love with it.

They describe every untoward act from vandalism to brutal child murder with the word savage. No other word will do.

Despite the fact that it has been repeatedly pointed out that the word has negative connotations to peoples other than Islamic Jihadists.

These negative connotations were not used exclusively towards Indians from India but also for Red Indians in America and African Americans and Indigenous peoples in many countries which were former colonies of Britain, including Maoris in my country.

These negative connotations exist till today - just look it up in the dictionary.

Listen to her interview with the New York Mayor which is on Atlas Shrugged. After praising her and defending her right to place the ads he said:

"Now I am going to tell you why I dont like the ad and I am going to give you a chance to persuade me to think differently, hows that?"

PG "I love it"

Governor "Ok, because the term Savage, and I think you used it very correctly in this conversation, .. decapitating a 3 month year old child..., but the term savage itself historically was used as a term for people we felt were inferior to us, in may respects that was the justification for taking the land away from Indians when we got here and that was the premise of the (..?) doctrine where African Americans were thought to be so much less than human and this is why we are enslaving them because we are actually protecting them and it had been used from time to time for people of Arabic descent, so had you not used the word savage and just used the word Jihadists as you did, and its clear and finally I hope you get some credit for not using the term Muslim because you were not referring to Muslims. I think that might have ignited the controversy a little more than it would have"

PG doesn't take in what he says at all and thereby turns off potential allies by her inability to take any advice contrary to her thinking.

She certainly doesn't persuade the Governor to think differently.

I prefer the description grotesquely ghoulish Satanic zombies, myself. But the more tepid "savage" will have to do, I guess.

One can, of course, use the term "savage", to accurately describe racist totalitarian supremacists such as Islamic supremacists.

But using that term may turn off people who are ignorant who otherwise, if other language -- other speech -- were used, would not be turned off and who would listen.

The point is not to "make a point". That is, the point is not to vent -- no matter how accurate the vent. The point is to communicate the truth to others.

On this, I agree with Rich.

One needs to choose one's words wisely.

Perhaps at some point it may be beneficial to accurately use the term "savage" to describe Islamic supremacists. But one should discern when it would be beneficial to do so.

In communicating to others, "how" one says something is as important as, or more important than, "what" that something is that one says. I, myself, have needed to learn that and I still need to learn how to do that.

But everyone has their own style.

But it's good for everyone to strive to communicate the truth as effectively as they can.

Right Speech -- samma vaca

Marvelous, marvelous series of ads.

Very inclusive—and they give a very good sense of the many peoples, all over the world, who are suffering at the hands of Islam.

My very favorite is the last, which says it all: "Defend Freedom, Defeat Jihad".

As for the comments re the Baha'i—I understand the point being made.

But recall—pious Muslims are not attacking Baha'i because they whitewash Islam, or because they respect Islam and the "Prophet"—they attack Baha'is because they are peaceful, and are not orthodox Muslims.

They are *certainly* victims of Islam, and, moreover, victims of utterly unprovoked oppression and violence.

That does not mean that they are particularly good allies for the Anti-Jihadist movement, for all the reasons cited—but this is, to my mind, a somewhat separate issue.

In any case, I believe these series of ads are marvelous at showing that *everyone* is threatened by Jihad, and are likely to lead many people who might otherwise believe this is just about Israel, or just about Western "foreign policy", to take another look.

Simple but brilliant. I hope these signs become vastly popular.

While there is merit to the idea that in a war of ideas situation, in the context of a surrounding culture that tends to vilify any language deemed excessively negative concerning any ethnic people (with Muslims, particularly post-911, having climbed to the top of the heap of Aggrieved Ethnic Peoples Whom the West Must Respect and Never Criticize -- having achieved that remarkable feat not by dint of hard work and good ethics or anything respectable but quite the reverse: by behaving like horrible savages around the world), we should moderate our language in communications with the PC MCs who continue to hold sway in our sociopolitical culture (with such moderation acutely attuned to the fine, hypersensitive, irrationally hair-trigger sensitivity of the PC MC radar for anything remotely hinting of "racism" where the question of whether it really does hint of it or not is utterly immaterial); there is also merit to the alternative idea that in such a situation the tactic of pushing the envelope rhetorically may also be ultimately productive -- even if, momentarily, it may provoke responses and reactions from the PC MC organism that seem counter-productive. These reflex responses and reactions from the PC MC organism would be manifestations merely of its instinctual defense mechanism reflecting its internal wiring and programming. However, since my metaphor is limited by the fact that PC MCs are also Western human beings and the majority of them are not ultra-Leftists, they are thus not hopeless for the prospect of recovering their underlying rationality which has become trapped in the complex interlocking axioms and givens of the PC MC paradigm -- the trapping being all the more effective to make them True Believers by being composed, in great part, of good and true Graeco-Roman and Judaeo-Christian virtues. It is not unreasonable, thus, to think that prodding them with somewhat provocative rhetoric now and then, rather than coddling them with the sweet nothings they expect (and demand) to hear, will in the end be a faster way of dismantling that paradigm.

And make no mistake, the PC MC paradigm is going to be dismantled. It's just a fashion, and fashions come and go. The only question is, will it unravel only at the horrific prodding of Muslim mayhem and murder in the coming decades -- a price too high -- or will it unravel because more and more Westerners slowly woke up some time before "too late", and broke away from the collective intellectual and psychological and cultural cohesion they help to endow it with? I say that by pushing the envelope with our rhetoric, we will hasten the latter process, and by continuing to walk on eggshells and formulate everything with overweeningly solicitous care lest we annoy and anger the PC MCs around us, we will tend to serve to retard the very process we seek to encourage.

LemonLime, yes. That is: I think, essentially, yes.

I was just trying to say that one needs to know when to say what to whom.

And Eric Allen Bell talked about this in a way in his talk that I listed. It's a very good talk. He talked about his background and how he came to learn about the situation and how to talk to "Liberals" about the situation.

gravenimage, yes. That is: I think, essentially, yes.

And one needs to vigorously, rigorously, firmly, clearly, tell the facts of the history and current reality of the situation that Israel is in.

----

"Conquer anger with lack of anger;
bad, with good;
stinginess, with a gift;
a liar, with truth."

-- The Buddha

Alternative English translation:

"Overcome the angry by non-anger; overcome the wicked by goodness; overcome the miser by generosity; overcome the liar by truth."

-- The Buddha

I heartily agree with the poster who, above, requested that bumper stickers should be produced and put on sale.

Actually, for bumper stickers, just the simple four-word slogan - Defend Freedom - Defeat Jihad, and all the other variations, such as 'Defend Human Rights - Defeat Jihad, Defend South Sudan - Defeat Jihad', 'Defend Hindus - Defeat Jihad' - would work best.

They could also be made up into posters for private use: e.g. an Islamosavvy and sufficiently bold doctor, dentist, or other professional could put one up in his waiting room or in his office. (It would tend to put off any Muslim customers/ clients...but then, they tend to be the customers from hell, anyway).

And there is no reason at all why counter-jihad organisations in other countries, such as Australia, could not follow Pam's example, either by doing some kind of deal with Pam to carry the campaign to their own countries, or by coming up with their own set of statements: e.g. 'Remember Beslan 04 - Resist Jihad', 'Remember Mumbai 08 - Resist Jihad', 'Remember London 05 - Resist Jihad', 'Remember the Armenians - Resist Jihad', 'Remember Bali 02 - Resist Jihad', 'Remember Madrid 04 - Resist Jihad'.

A further idea (for this, we need artists).

This is for use in cafes, waiting rooms, and other places where people are bored and have time to hang around and look at things.

A pair of posters representing 1/ a non-sharia community and 2/ a fully sharia-compliant community.

Under the second is 'if Islam won'.

Like one of those spot-the-difference games, only in-your-face.

Show what Islamic conquest *DOES*.

Both need to be very detailed paintings, in a naive style, like Grandma Moses, or a double spread in the 'Where's Wally?' books.

The first painting, set in high summer on a fine sunny morning somewhere in the western world, represents a park with a lake and fountain with statues in the middle, and a war memorial (another statue), and Town Square. People are walking their dogs. Lovers both straight and gay are walking hand in hand, or kissing one another. Scattered about the gardens, or by the fountain, wedding parties from different cultural groups- Jewish, Christian, East Asian, Black, Hindu Indian - are having their photos taken. There are joggers. Women are wearing normal summery western dress, and some are on their own. There are buskers - someone with a violin, and someone with a flute, while someone sings - and somebody on a soapbox touting atheism (waving about a book by Richard Dawkins), and somebody else (wearing a clerical dog collar) is replying. A couple are setting up a picnic - with wine, and a nice ham. Some children and teenagers - boys and girls - are frolicking in the fountain, and a lady in a bikini is sunbathing by the lake. There is a church - with a cross, and bells in its tower, ringing merrily as a bridal couple emerge. Elsewhere, a synagogue is visible. In the park, a group of Hare Krishnas are doing their thing. There is a police station, a courthouse and a bank; a pair of cops are gently 'proceeding' along one of the paths; Election posters - 'Vote For Joe for Mayor!' are stuck to trees and posts. An artist has his easel set up and is painting someone's portrait, and elsewhere in the park a sculptor is creating a new statue. There is a row of shops, including a butcher with a sign saying 'Best Quality Bacon'. If you look closely, you find out that some of the people in this busy, idyllic scene are wearing crosses; there are a few with the Star of David (and one has an IDF T-Shirt); and those in the Hindu and the Sikh wedding parties are wearing their insignia. And if you look carefully, you discover that one of the people sitting on a bench reading is reading Mr Spencer's "Did Mohammed Exist?'; somebody else is reading 'The Satanic Verses'; and somebody else is wearing the Mohammed Turban-Bomb T-shirt.

The point of the picture is this: practically every object, institution and practice shown in the picture - all of them either positively good, innocent/ neutral, or non-criminal, in the eyes of non-Muslims - is forbidden - criminalised, rejected, attacked and slated for eventual erasure - by the sharia of Islam.

The second picture would show exactly the same landscape- the same scene - as it would appear if the sharia-pushers got what they want.

The youngsters playing in the fountain would be all male. There would be almost no women anywhere, and those few who were there, would be covered up in assorted versions of the Slave Rag, and walking behind a man. There would be no sun-bathers, no people reading 'blasphemous' anti-Islam books, no musicians (stringed instruments, flutes and the 'songstress' are condemned by the hadiths). The statues would be gone, or smashed. The church would be looking very run-down, and its cross and bells would be gone. The synagogue would be minus its star of david. There would be no dancing hare krishnas. No artists. Where the pub had been, there would be a three-storey mosque. The butcher's shop would have an Arabic sign. The bank is gone ('interest' is haram..).

There would be an imam ranting, and an all-male mob listening to him.

On one of the paths, a group of bearded 'Morality Police' with sticks might be seen beating up on a lone woman who is not wearing hijab; and on the edge of the park a crowd of leering, shrieking boys are throwing rocks at a frightened, starved-looking stray dog.
