After stonings and amputations, Islamic supremacist group in Mali says it rejects "all forms of extremism and terrorism"

Anyone who thinks that this means that Ansar Dine won't be carrying out any more stonings and amputations is woefully misinformed. They don't consider carrying out penalties clearly prescribed in Islamic law to be any kind of "extremism and terrorism." They consider that to be simple justice. What they most likely mean by this declaration is that they oppose Israel and the U.S.

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) -- An Islamist group carrying out public executions and amputations in northern Mali said Tuesday that it rejects "all forms of extremism and terrorism" and called upon other armed organizations controlling the region, including a branch of al-Qaida, to engage in political talks with the government.
The turnabout was announced by a representative of an Ansar Dine delegation that has been holding talks for the last several days with mediators in the capital of neighboring Burkina Faso.

The meetings in Burkina Faso appear to be part of a new, regional attempt to set up negotiations to resolve the Mali crisis ahead of a possible military intervention that is expected to be led by African forces with logistical backing from the European Union and the United States. France is heading the international effort to plan the military campaign to end the occupation by Ansar Dine and other Islamists in Mali's north.

It was not immediately clear how Ansar Dine's declaration would affect its imposition of strict Islamic law in the northern Mali territory under its control. Nor was it clear whether the delegation in Ouagadougou represents all elements within Ansar Dine, which has links to the al-Qaida terror network....

Ansar Dine is one of three Islamist groups controlling Mali's north, and its members are believed to be mostly Malians. The membership of the two other groups, one of them al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, consists primarily of foreign fighters.

Although Ansar Dine has imposed strict Islamic law, including carrying out punishments such as amputating the hands of thieves and stoning to death a couple who had children out of wedlock, authorities believe the group is the most open to negotiation because its fighters are Malian nationals with ties to the area....

Does that mean that Ansar Dine will stop their acts of savagery? **Hell no**.

The only thing they consider "terrorism" are Western and Israeli acts of *defense against Jihad*, like drone attacks and the security fence.

God only knows what they consider "extremism"—but the credulous Westerners sure do like to hear that a group of pious Muslims "aren't extreme". Hence, we've gotten such grotesqueries as the "moderate Muslim Brotherhood" and—perhaps even more ludicrous—the "moderate Taliban".

So, this is nothing but Taqiyya on the part of Jihadists—and ignorance, denial, and naïvité on the part of the civilized world.

Another common trope—this gives you the idea that *no Malian Muslims* actually support Shari'ah. Now, some Malians *have* fled—but many more seem to be embracing Ansar Dine's vision of Islam. And why not? The vast majority of northern Malians are Muslim, and Shari'ah—including amputations and stoning—is absolutely mainstream Islamic law.

Sorry to say friends but it appears Obama has won a second term. This will be devastating for our cause for the next 4 years-but I'm preaching to the choir.

Hopefully Obama screws up enough that he'll get impeached. This just reinforces the stereotype of Americans being stupid. It's amazing how one could be a disastrous president and still remain popular and get re-elected.

It's also interesting to me how stupidity and evil tend to go hand-in-hand.

This is the truth, in that when you are taught, from birth to death, that killing others is proper,and is encouraged, by the texts that they follow, they are doing just what they have been taught to, it is not wrong from that point of view. They are following the way of life, they are following islam. If islam is not challenged, or is placed in off limits status, we are unable to advance against this enemy.

As many as are found in the battle, or are killed in defence of our way of life, it will not end it, for those born into islam today, and tomorrow, will be taught that killing us is proper, not somthing to end, or change, it is the way of life for islam.

People may think that burning a book is in error, but it serves the point, instead of trying to burn out just the sections that we find trouble with, leaving the rest to follow.

Reject islam, outlaw it here as the death cult that it is. That should be, has to be the battle cry. It is islam itself that is the enemy, and progress will happen only if islam's teachings are seen as the enemy of mankind, there is no other solution.

From most of the comments I've heard, Fitna, it seems that many foolish Americans just voted for entitlements. That certainly seemed to be the word out of Michigan and Ohio—that everyone just loved Obama's auto industry "bailout".

And comments from Republican strategists were disturbing, as well—basically, that in future they themselves would have to appeal to entitlements if they wanted to win elections.

While Romney had supported Israel and addressed the issue of Benghazi during the campaign, what struck me most on election day and its aftermath is that most Americans simply weren't thinking about the threat to our freedoms and security *at all*.

Eleven years after 9/11, and all too many Americans are still asleep.

I have, with a grim sense of humor, referred to those of us who recognize the Jihad threat now as "premature Anti-Jihadists"—just as those who were alarmed by Nazi Germany in the 1930s were referred to as "premature Anti-Fascists".

Clearly, we have a lot more work in front of us...
