CNN says that Iran fired at U.S. drone last week

So did CNN know this last week and hold it back so as to reelect Obama, or did the Pentagon hold this back until this week, so as to reelect Obama? And surely Obama knew about this. Is covering up an act of war so as to get reelected an impeachable offense?

"CNN: Iran Fired at Unmanned U.S. Drone Last Week," from the Washington Free Beacon, November 8 (thanks to Anne Crockett):

CNN reports two Iranian fighter jets fired at an unmanned U.S. Predator drone last week in international airspace, according to the Pentagon:

BARBARA STARR: New military tensions now with Iran. CNN has learned it was last Thursday, just one week ago, that two Iranian SU-25–old Russian fighter jets the Iranians operate–flew out in to the Persian Gulf into international air space and fired on a U.S. Air Force predator drone, an unmanned drone in international air space, that the Pentagon insists was conducting routine, although classified, maritime surveillance. The Iranian aircraft fired continuously; they did not hit the drone; the drone was able to return to base in that region. But this does raise some serious new tensions with Iran. It was, of course, just a few days before the presidential election here in the United States. Officials that we have talked to who are confirming it after we questioned them say they just don’t know at this point what the Iranians were up to. Were they just out to cause trouble or were they really trying to bring down that U.S. drone, Brooke....

Gee, that's a real head-scratcher. Read it all.

If it is, you can be sure that effeminate Boehner & Co. won’t pursue it.

Marry: this is actually great news. If our president has any balls we could take their air force and navy out in 20 minutes or less.

.......................

Well, this is damn disturbing—and clearly an act of war.

Of course, so was storming the US Embassy and holding fifty-two of our diplomatic staff hostage for *444 days*.

Iran has known for over thirty years that we probably won't take their acts of war as—well—acts of war.

If *Ronald Reagan* didn't, then you can be sure that Barack Hussein Obama won't...

Update on-

Islamic Republic of Iran regime:

"Iranian Facebook activist Sattar Beheshti feared dead in custody.
"Tehran under pressure to issue statement on 35-year-old blogger amid reports of his death under interrogation."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/iran-blog/2012/nov/07/iranian-faceboook-activist-sattar-beheshti

They are all invested in their messiah.

My goodness, you don't know Obama and his balls are on the side of Islam? You don't think Obama would like nothing more than that the mullahs wipe Israel off the face of the map?

I am always amazed when conservatives (even though they did not vote for Obama) see Obama as "our" president or "my" president when in fact he is a foreigner. I am not talking about citizenship. Barack Obama is anti-America. His mission is to destroy this once great country. Why would any conservative imagine that Obama is "one of us?" He is not.

Obama's Benghazi-gate,
and Iran-gate.

He covers up so much,

he should be known as Burqa Barack.

Hmmm...this event is suspicious...

Could it be that the Iranians deliberately shot wide, sort of a shot-across-the-bow???

If they really wanted to hit the drone, why would they give up after 2 misses??

I suspect that we don't know the full story.

Now that Obama has won the second term, there can't be much doubt that at some point in the next four years, Iran will have the bomb.

We knew if Romney got elected, despite whatever misgivings some had with him, he would staunchly support Israel.

So here is the problem, even though "W"'s thrust into Iraq was militarily well done, and Hussein was terminated, the WMD were not found. Now I remember a LARGE truck convoy to Syria that was inexplicably not detained, which well might have had the WMD. I also remember that an armed drone was looking at a Taliban funeral, with about 150 - 200 Taliban, and our military was NOT given the ok to fire. But this is what happens when you fight with one hand tied behind your back. Ask any Vietnam vet. Also, "W" had the delusional concept you can nation build with Islam.

Today Jews and Christians are running for their lives in Iraq.

... and ... now, THE dilemna:

in the coming four years, Netanyahu will most certainly be forced to strike Iran. Does obama hang him out to dry?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKqFBpk_1Eo

Does anybody think obama will attack Iran, or support an Israeli attack on Iran in any way comparable to "W"'s attack on Iraq?

The answer is clearly ... No.

Why did they miss? Don't current drones fly pretty slowly?

Sometimes it seems the Iranians want war with the U.S., but don't want to take the first shot. They want to bring on the apocalyptic chaos that will bring forth the Mahdi, the Islamic Messiah, but don't want to start the war, because Islamic law says only a caliph can wage offensive jihad. But once the Americans strike first, then the Iranians can unleash nuclear hell on the world.

Man, that's the scary thing. Looks like only the Israelis will try to stop Iran now. Thanks, Obama supporters.

War-like situations often help presidents. The start of a war often raises a president's popularity, because the people tend to rally around him in face of a threat.

Nor does the administration need a very good reason for keeping this secret for the last week. They can easily just say it was their judgement that national security was best served by keeping things calm, and they thought calm most likely if the event was not revealed instantaneously to the masses. They can say it was the introduction of a deliberative rather than knee-jerk pace of response, somewhat like situations where someone is angry, but decides it's prudent to count to ten before reacting.

I don't claim any of that is what the Obama admin was actually doing. But they can easily claim it, and probably no one will deny them the right of delay anyway. National security decisions of that sort are probably their legal prerogative.

From the posting "Is covering up an act of war so as to get reelected an impeachable offense?"

Question : do christians have to go to war for every offense ?

You asked: 'do christians have to go to war for every offense?'

Depends on the size of the offense, doesn't it.
If, for example, a Moslem army invades Jerusalem and butchers 3,000 Christians in cold blood, that's a good reason to fight a defensive war against Islam.
That's what provoked The Crusades, Islamic aggression.

In this case, firing at the drone is hardly comparable with butchering 3,000 Christians in Jerusalem in terms of severity, but, nevertheless, it was an unprovoked military attack by an Islamic theocracy.

And, by the way, 'christians' is wrongly used by you. The West is a secular society. There are no Christian theocracies anywhere in the world.

traeh,

I think all the countries that we may need to engage in militarily all see obama as very weak in foreign policy.

Iran shot the drone down because they knew obama would do nothing about it.

Do you think these nations are afraid of obama?

Yes, they perceive Obama as weak. They also know the U.S. is very vulnerable, though very strong militarily.

They did not shoot down the drone. They shot repeatedly toward it, and missed it, either intentionally or not. It returned safely to base.

They are really happy that Allah got Rasool Obama reelected...A blessing...They were just celebrating...Even the Supreme Leader cracked a smile...

Ronald Reagan didn't have to because the day he was elected, the hostages were released.

They were released because Iran knew he would have probably said, "You have committed an act of war against the United States. You have 72 hours to release our people unharmed and deliver them to an airport to fly them out, or we will bomb your city of _________. We're giving you fair warning so you can evacuate your people. Make your choice."

The cover-up is an impeachable offense.

I fear the tedious 'peter' is back, under a new guise. The same robotic style. If he links to his ghastly website, then we'll know for sure.

As Iran is a Muslim nation, the pilots missed when firing at the drone because Allah wished it to be so. We may therefore be quite sure that these pilots and those who ordered them to fire will be in hot water come Allah's reckoning on the Day of Judgement. Please remember Allah knows best.

Point taken, Stand Fast in the Liberty. I was thinking more generally, when Reagan—despite being a tough and principled president—didn't always appear to fully recognize the Jihad threat as he did the threat of Communism. I'm thinking of issues like the Beirut marine barracks bombing.

Of course, almost no one in the West fully recognized the threat that early.

But you are *quite right* that he didn't need to take further action on Iran at that point. It is also clear that he would have had Iran *not* released the hostages when they did.

I believe you are spot on, Jan.

While always claiming that he wasn't a Muslim troll, much of "peter's" shtick here—besides pooh-poohing the threat of Islam in general—has been positing that if Christians are going to be proper Christians that they cannot defend themselves from Jihad *in any way*—that, in fact, they should not even be allowed to comment on it.

Well, that has nothing to do with Christianity—instead, it is Shari'ah and dhimmitude.

And never mind that his characterizing the West as just Christian is completely inaccurate, in any case.

But he believes he sees a weakness in the West, and like any good Muslim is doing all he can to exploit it.

I'm not sure if he was banned, or if he's just having to sign in under Yahoo rather than Typepad now with the recent issues Jihad Watch has had with sign-ins.

In any case, I do believe that this is the same sly troll.

Good catch, Jan.

Thanks, graven.

If it *is* him, and I'm sure it is, let's remember his previous attempts to sidetrack the threads with his pernicious nonsense, and refuse to allow him to do it.

It's a complete waste of time talking to him, anyway.
