Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood calls for mass demo in Cairo to support Morsi

After demonstrators took to the streets to protest the new pro-Sharia Brotherhood dictatorship. Showdown in Cairo: "Embattled Morsi calls out his backers," by Paul Gallagher in the Independent, November 25:

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has called for a mass demonstration in Cairo this week to show support for the embattled President, Mohamed Morsi, who is facing widespread protests over his controversial decree granting him extensive new powers.

In a statement published on its website, the Brotherhood also called for demonstrations in public squares across the country after early evening prayers today.

The latest blow to Mr Morsi came yesterday when the Supreme Judicial Council, Egypt's highest body of judges, called the move by the President to grant himself near-absolute power an "unprecedented assault" on the judiciary.

Through their statement, the judges joined a growing list of leaders and activists from Egypt's political factions, including some Islamists, who have denounced the decree Mr Morsi says is necessary to "protect the revolution". The council's move reflects the anger within the judiciary.

Mr Morsi has accused pro-Mubarak elements in the judiciary, many of whom were appointed by the former president, of blocking political progress. In the past year, courts have dissolved the lower house of parliament as well as the first panel drafting the constitution, both led by the Muslim Brotherhood....

Parties opposed to the decree have called for a protest on Tuesday in Cairo, though in a different square from the one where the Brotherhood called on its supporters to gather.

Trouble...Yes they got trouble, right there in River City...'If Allah causes all that trouble he can't be good, and if he is powerless to stop it he can't be God'...Is there going to be another civil war in Egypt? Who's side will the US be on this time?

Someone asked the other day why Gaza is infested with terrorists shooting rockets and the "West Bank" not so much. The following is the way Caroline Glick concludes her piece in the J. Post:

Column One: The trap that Arik built

http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/Article.aspx?id=293128

"(Bret) Stephens’s and Boot’s belated intellectual integrity on Gaza is not enough to make a difference for Israel today.

Israel has only two options for dealing with the ever-escalating threat from Gaza. It can try to coexist with Hamas. This option is doomed to failure since Hamas seeks the annihilation of the Jewish people and the eradication of Israel. Recognizing this state of affairs, in a public opinion survey taken on Wednesday for Channel 2, 88% of Israelis said that a cease-fire with Hamas will either not hold at all or hold for only a short time.

74% of Israelis opposed accepting a cease-fire.

The other choice is to destroy Hamas. To accomplish this Israel will need to invade Gaza and remain in place. It will have to kill or imprison thousands of terrorists, send thousands more packing for Sinai, and then spend years patrolling the streets of Gaza and arresting terrorists just as it does today in Judea and Samaria.

Whereas the first option is impossible, the latter option is not currently viable. It isn’t viable because not enough people making the argument have the opportunity to publish their thoughts in leading publications. Most of those who might have the courage to voice this view fear that if they do, they will be denied an audience, or discredited as warmongers or extremists.

So they remain silent or impotently say that Israel shouldn’t agree to a cease-fire without mentioning what Israel’s other option is.

The millions of Israelis who opposed the withdrawal from Gaza do not seek personal vindication for being right. They didn’t warn against the withdrawal to advance their careers or make their lives easier. Indeed, their careers were uniformly harmed.

They did it because they were patriots. They felt it was their duty to warn their countrymen of the danger, hoping to avert the disaster we now face. They should be listened to now. And their voices should be empowered by those who shunned them, because only by listening to them will we develop the arguments and the legitimacy to do what needs to be done and stop fighting to lose, again and again and again.

... assault on the judiciary ...
... president's claims that the judges appointed by former leaders are blocking progress ...

Are we talking about Egypt or the U.S?

Egyptian democracy has ceased to function as violent malcontents have become too numerous for the police to control. Morsi must immediately recruit thousands of snitches and pay them well. It will take years before springtime peace and Muslim style freedom can return to Cairo.

Oh, just another Pharaoh on the Nile.

Mursi may be embattlened on the home front, but he's been given front rank in the Arab world by President Obama by his decisive role in the latest Gaza troubles. I suppose it suffices.

Rioting is a career in Egypt; it's a beautiful sight.

I am sitting at Jet Blues terminal at JFK going to Burbank for business. it is amazing how much the islamists and jihadist have done to make our lives miserable and change our way of life to the same shithole where they come from. I took my shoes, belt, change wallet out and place them in the nbasket to be scrreened. I then proceeded to go through the scanner my self after I came out they siad: do you have anything else on you and I said no. they then proceeded to pad me down: and they were right. I wear my son's dog tag and that was causing the problem. we are in this for a long term. I do not believe in any god, but id you do please say a prayer.

Your last sentence makes me laugh out loud.

Morsi has stated that his power grab is just temporary. But can he be trusted?
Remember when the MB said they were uninterested in politics? That they didn't want to run a candidate for president. Now there are imams equating opposition to Morsi with apostasy, blasphemy and drinking sugary sodas.
I suppose temporary is a relative time concept, like eon.

Melpol, you referred to "Muslim style freedom".

The word "totalitarianism" has three fewer letters and expresses more clearly what you mean... ;^)

A great example of the expert use of Taquiya demonstrated by Mursi...

You do know that the terminal is more dangerous than the flight don't you? They search for 'special underwear' after the terrorist is already in the building...Do you have anything else on you? Haha...only this kuffar, Allahu Akbar and good-bye...They should be doing their searches outside in the parking lot or something, and not in a crowded terminal...

The U.S. helped the new Egyption dictatorship get into office. That's how ignorant the U.S. leaders are.
