Giving thanks

There are plenty of reasons not to be thankful this year: the consolidation of the power of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Sharia entities all over the Middle East and North Africa, the ongoing Islamic war against the freedom of speech, the Obama Administration's apparent determination to aid and abet both of those things, the new jihad against Israel, and so much more.

But today is a day to give thanks, and so let us not focus on those things, but rather upon those individuals who never would have flourished in a strict Sharia state such as the Islamic supremacists are laboring to impose upon the world, and for their achievements that are likewise not consonant with Islamic law. In other words, give thanks today for champions of the freedom of speech, for women who have achieved great things, for those who have moved our souls with music or representational art -- anything outlawed under Islamic law. For it may be that there will not be many more who join those singular individuals, as Sharia continues to advance in the West. The time to celebrate them is now.

And remember the fight is by no means over. As you give thanks for the blessings you have received, resolve to give thanks for them. Now is the time for new approaches that bypass the mainstream media straitjacket and force the public debate onto issues they want to ignore. Well, I'm almost always in a bad mood so I don't have a lot to be thankful for, but I am thankful for some things...#1...Allah has not stopped me from breathing, he has tried several times, but I always out smart him...
I am most thankful for the existence of Pam Geller, Spencer, Sultan, Darwish, David Woods, Ali Sina, Raymond Ibrihim. Wilders, Hugh Fitzgerald, and more anti-jihadis I didn't mention, and a host of apostates including, but not limited to, Saleem who posts here...For them, I am thankful...
Another thing I am thankful for is that I don't eat turkey...But that's another story...

In a perverse sort of way (I am sorry Obama won), I am thankful that Governor Chris Chistie "might" have destroyed any chance he had for higher office. I give thanks (I hope) for that.

Several weeks after the election, Republicans across the party continue to blame New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for throwing a potential monkey wrench in Romney’s chances for victory. Some Republicans say Christie’s warm words of appreciation and close contact with President Obama in the days following Hurricane Sandy made the Romney surrogate appear as though his support for the Republican candidate was waning.

Some Republicans even say Christie has damaged his reputation as a dependable GOP leader.

Is Christie in any way to blame for Romney’s election loss? And has he permanently wounded his future with the GOP?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

I'm also mourning the Obama win, seeing my home state disgraced for upholding homosexual marriage, and the MB's lengthening shadow over the Middle East.

But, in our church service Wednesday night, we sang Martin Rinkart's "Now Thank we all Our God" (Nun Danket Alle Gott). Rinkart served as pastor of a Saxon Lutheran church during the height of the Thirty Years' War. The armies of both Wallenstein and Gustavus Adolphus passed through, and this in a day when soldiers' wages were gained through pillage. Further, the plague came through, carrying off perhaps half of the village, along with Rinkart's wife and several of his children. Hence, I feel guilty that whereas Bro. Rinkart (for all his dislike of us Reformed folk) could thank his God so beautifully amidst the tribulations of Job, I kvetch and complain when I enjoy a prosperity of which my ancestors could scarcely dream; have two sons grown to manhood; a healthy grand-daughter; two jobs; mobility...

And what of those Puritans of the early 1600's, who hoped their new monarch James of Scotland might sympathize with their program (he was, after all, the pupil of Dr. George Buchanan)? How dismayed they must have been to hear, "A Scotch Presbytery as well agreeth with monarchy as God with the devil...I will harry you out of the land"! Yet they gave us this Thanksgiving tradition after being harried from their beloved England and barely surviving their first year in the wilderness of Massachusetts. Even our prissily secularist schoolbooks credit their Mayflower Compact as an important milestone on the road to modern American liberties.

How can anyone be so obtuse as to think that gay marriage matters, that it actually is an issue? Easy. Having abandoned their perogative to think, they yearn to believe. Believe what? To believe what they're told, specifically told to believe by religionists.

Anyone and everyone so intellectually paralysed constitute part of the problem. Only nonbelievers, the people who dismiss believing and embrace thinking, are the solution.

And we should be thankful. Here in the US we have tools: we have the law (for cripes sake, take the Smith Act out of mothballs and use it for its intended purpose) and we have the truth.

Stop wringing your frigging hands and whining. That nonsense about justice being delivered by invisible friends from a spirit world, or whatever the particulars are of the disinformation spread by the crackpot religionists, is exactly that: nonsense.

The age of information and communication affords us the opportunity to debunk the religious montebanks of every persuasion. Please use the tools we have to rescue civilization from a backslide into a cesspool of ignorance and repression.

It's up to us and our nascent intellect and inspired commitment. Our actions matter, and they can be decisive. We can prevail.

Put simply - it's the "non-believers" that embrace same-sex marriage.

Embrace? I don't care. I never cared that queers like being queers and living with other queers. I didn't care before homophobes decided queerness deserved to be a politicized issue and I don't care now. There are fish to be fried ponderous enough to make the gay marriage "issue" functionly irrelevant.

Is the incidence of homosexuality greater or less than during the time covered by the Kinsey Report? Greater or less than in the prior century? The Rennaisance? The classic Hellenic Age? What part of what-fucking-difference-does-it-make escapes you?

I prefer to focus upon the more palpable perils. The rest (which looks oh so much like knee-jerk, brain-dead, right-wing ideology) is eye wash.

FWIW, predisposition to homosexuality may be a congenital incident of brain chemistry. The fact that it may be detectable pre-partum would perhaps pose a quandry to queer hating Right-to-Lifers with a little faggot on the way.

Further, Right-to-Lifers are those who insist we abide by demographic policies that guarantee mass suffering and death, demonstrating religionists' typical compatibility with the truth.

I do post here to cultivate deep, personal friendships. Is there someone whom I have not yet offended? Do they deserve it? Well, there's always tomorrow.

No, it is not. Things got pretty damn dark before most decent people firmly faced the threat of Fascism. I believe the same is true of the Jihad threat. It ain't over...
