Petraeus resigns from CIA, but not over Libya, he says

He says it's all because he had an affair. Of course, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the October 26 CIA statement: "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate."

If Petraeus didn't order that no help be given to Ambassador Stevens and his staff when jihadists attacked the embassy, someone did. But if it wasn’t Petraeus, the order would have had to come from someone who outranked even the director of the agency. Thus Petraeus’s denial that the order had come from him pointed the finger directly at Barack Obama. And while the mainstream media buried that fact before the election, probably the House Foreign Affairs Committee would have asked Petraeus just who did give the order.

For surely it was just a coincidence that Petraeus resigned on Thursday, the very same day that Fox News reported that the Foreign Affairs Committee was planning to call him to testify at their Benghazi hearings, along with Director of National Intelligence James "Clueless" Clapper and Matt Olsen, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center. Surely that had nothing to do with Petraeus’s decision to submit his resignation. This couldn’t have had anything to do with his quitting. It is much more likely indeed that suddenly, just as the news that he was going to be summoned to testify came in to his office, Petraeus was overcome with remorse over his affair, and decided – although apparently the affair began some time ago, since there were rumors about it while he was still in Afghanistan – that Thursday was the day, right then and there, to come clean and resign his position.

Does Obama's camp really expect us to believe that he resigned because the Obama Administration suddenly recovered traditional moral values?

"CIA Director Petraeus resigns over extramarital affair," by Nick Dutton for CNN, November 9:

(CNN) – CIA Director David Petraeus submitted his resignation to President Barack Obama, citing personal reasons, a U.S. government source told CNN.

The source said Petreaus admitted to an extramarital affair.

Here’s the letter Petreaus sent from CIA Headquarters Friday.

Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA. After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation....

"I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair."

So what? All he needs to do is ask Allah to send down some verses... like this one!!!

"O thou prophet! wherefore dost thou prohibit what God has made lawful to thee (slave girl Maria); craving to please thy wives (Hafsa)? ...God has allowed you to expiate your oaths. (go sleep with Hafsa’s maid)" Qur’an, 66:1-2

http://crossmuslims.blogspot.com/2012/10/muhammads-pimp.html

Perfect timing...

Count on it, there is more to this than an affair. (And Benghazi is at least part of it.) Even if there was an affair, there was more to the affair that we are ever likely to know, if you catch the drift. Yes, extramarital affairs are a security risk, but if they expect us to swallow this one they had better be prepared to ID the Other Woman, or do they plan to just let Petraeus' wife take one for the CiC by being humiliated in public like this?

Sleazes. One way or the other.

Hey Robert, hey guys... have you heard about "Islamophobia"? well... i present you a new pedohammedan ad-hominem, Muslim Brotherhood certified and Pedohammed approved!:

Oh, will the buffoonery and taqiyya ever end?.

His wife pushed him.

Who's covering up? Hillary's leaving, Holder is leaving, the General is leaving...are the rats deserting the ship?...Why is the Ayatollah smiling?

This story is so incredulous, it seems humorous. I cannot, and I do not believe that a man in a powerful position who is having an illicit affair will, out of the blue, voluntarily disclose it and even go so far as to give up his position as a result. Absolutely not. He is going to continue the affair for as long as he can get away with it. That is the nature of man today, and may have been so for all times past. Look at past history. The affair usually becomes known when someone, other than the man, makes it public knowledge. When confronted about it, he denies it. Only when exposed with embarrassing evidence, may he confess. Is this man a saint or someone with an incredibly righteous conscience? Not even church leaders behave like that. The story is quite unbelievable on the face of it. I would like to see this investigated further.

Petraeus resigns from CIA, but not over Libya, he says

He says it's all because he had an affair...
............................

Of course, I much prefer it when our leaders and the people protecting us are also people of character in their personal lives.

It is also true, as noted, that affairs can be security risks in various ways.

That being said, would anyone here have demanded, say, that General Patton resign because he was having a quite inappropriate affair with a close relative?

Really, I doubt it—because he was too damn good at his job. He could not have been easily replaced by another man, even one superior in his personal ethics.

Of course, the same can hardly be said for the man in question here—David Petraeus is no George Patton.

This has been amply explored by Jihad Watch—in several essays by the inimitable Hugh Fitzgerald, especially.

But if Petraeus goes down not for any lapses in keeping us, our troops, and our diplomatic staff safe from ravening Jihadists, but rather for an unpleasant personal peccadillo, it will be absurd.

The very worst of it is that we have no reason—especially given the re-election of Barack Obama—to assume that any coming in the wake of David Petraeus will be any better.

An additional reminder, of at least one reason, that has a ring to it is a little while ago, this:

http://frontpagemag.com/2012/dgreenfield/valerie-jarretts-payback-begins-petraeus-forced-out/

Highly likely the plot will thicken with this one.

Maybe his affair was with a man. Might explain the haste in getting rid of him.

The chief of counterintell at CIA is a Muslim convert, so he'll probably get the top job.

Eisenhower had an affair and went on to become President. But Petraeus having already betrayed us by his dhimmitude before does the same again. This affair smells.

Just for the record, there is no certain proof that Eisenhower had an affair with Kay Summersby. There are conflicting accounts but nothing definite.

Gee, I wonder if he was asked not to resign until after the election. Let's see: after the election, Friday afternoon, before the Benghazi hearings- yup, it's gotta be all coincidental.

"Just for the record, there is no certain proof that Eisenhower had an affair with Kay Summersby. There are conflicting accounts but nothing definite."

Apparently, Summersby wrote a tell-all book while she was dying of cancer (d. 1975): My Love Affair With Ike. In it, according to one reviewer, she recounts a long love affair spanning years that only had two sexual encounters, both of them hasty and rushed, in public places, and both incomplete because Eisenhower succumbed to ED. The reviewer logically notes that Summersby wouldn't have much of a motive to lie that way, rather than more floridly and romantically (if she's going to lie anyway). He also noted that Eisenhower wrote "hundreds of love letters" to Summersby, though he doesn't cite a source for this. It's not unreasonable to suppose that the "conflicting accounts" conflict not for love of truth, but preservation of icons.

*BREAKING*

What, Petraeus won't be testifying? ..now the plot thickens even more!

What if...

What if the White House told Petraeus to fall on his sword for the good of The One, and if he didn't, word would "leak" out about the affair, at which point Obama would be "forced" to request his resignation...

...but Petraeus, knowing just how bad all this really is, trumped them by playing their hole card first?

"The top US and NATO Commander in Afghanistan General David Patraeus spoke out Sunday against Florida pastor Terry Jone's burning of the Holy Quran last month. The action sparked violence protest and death in Afghanistan. "We condemn the action of an individual in the United States who burned a holy Quran. That action was hateful, intolerant and it was extremely disrespectful. And again we condemn it in the strongest manner possible," said Patraeus."

What kind of human being would accept an appointment from this evil man?

Pamela Geller wrote:

Petraeus’s Israel Problem

His policy is to turn our back on a staunch ally.

Andrew McCarthy NRO

Gen. David Petraeus cast Israel as the source of all America’s woes in the Middle East. To his great discredit, the general — in a Clintonesque fashion which, as we shall see, is probably not a coincidence — simultaneously denied making the statement, grudgingly admitted making it while minimizing its significance, and accused West and others of misrepresenting his views. In fact, the general’s critics quoted his words at length, placed them in unmistakable context, and drew from them the same commonsense conclusion drawn by Israel’s gleeful critics — for whom Petraeus is the hero of the moment.

Someone who underestimated the depth of his evil...the way our garden-variety, old school liberals were suckered into doing?

Petraeus could not resist to the allurement,a common tactic that the CIA uses to allure the enemies. MOSSAD does this all the time to Palestinian's Statesmen. Invitation to meet, followed up with a greeting by world class beautiful women who sacrifice themselves for their country; allude to be alone with the beauties who strip their clothing little by little, the statesmen decided that they would die if they missed the only lifetime opportunity to copulate with the rarest beauty in the world. When it's all done, the MOSSAD plays the sex tapes and offers to broadcast it on internet or cooperate. This is how Israelis turn PA statesmen obedient dogs. Old trick, but still effective.

The way to a man's heart is through his Dick.

How could anyone underestimate the depth of this man's evil. Patraeus was closer to this man than most Americans. He knew who he was working for; and whose bidding he was doing. He brought dishonor to himself. History will judge all those who faithfully served this evil man.

The way to a man's heart is through his Dick.

The way I always heard it is: He let the wrong head do the thinking for him."

The book you mentioned was pretty much ghostwritten.

Act IV Scene III of Shakespeare's Hamlet springs to mind. .yunno, the one about 'wurms'. Just a thought.

Whaddya, some kinda taqiyyaphobe?

Given the orientation of the current regime, what would be desirable if true (i.e.the apostate being really so)to us and other knowledgeable Americans, would be undesirable to the regime, as their intent has been abundently demonstrated in the past year or so to dumb down our security vis a viz islam, not enhance it. So much so, I would be suspect of such appointment.

I'm intrigued that Holder, Petraeus, and Rodham-Clinton are all leaving. I suspect that there are things that won't allow the Quick and Peeved scandal to die down.

I'd be willing to take Petraeus' story at face value. He's a professional soldier, knows the score, and is trained to protect the US people and government regardless. Indeed, an extramarital affair is just the sort of thing over which a high official could be blackmailed, and by tendering his resignation and coming clean about it, Petraeus has made himself useless to anyone who might try to use his infidelity against the USA.

As for Rodham-Clinton, I doubt she's as tired of politics as she claims to be--although I'll reconsider this assessment if I actually see her going into retirement. I suspect that she knows the O will be very vulnerable in 2016, and will probably try to get the Democratic nomination. Hence, she wants to distance herself from an administration that she must know is thoroughly compromised in its Three-Wise-Monkeys approach to the blighted "Arab Spring".

what did obuma have on chief justice roberts so that he marched into the white house, took his paddling, and rolled over for obamaScare, that put that smirk on face of bader-ginsberg?

maybe holder, hilery, gen "betray us", all learned from benghazi, and now will "stand down" and leave obama by himself in his own fight. lets hope obama hasn't found ever WORSE workers. shiver-me-timbers.

if obama, like king saul in the BIBLE, falls on his own sword....and/or the congress "finds their backbones", and charges him with benghazi, voter fraud, etc and cans him......then that will leave the media with bucket-list bieden for the white house daily news. that will be more funny, and not so mean.

Eight attacks and on consulates and embassies (in countries other than Iraq and Afghanistan)resulting in almost forty deaths during the Bush administration. How many of you were yelling about impeachment, cover-ups, and calling for resignations?

Of course, after the craptastic job Petraeus did in Iraq, he shouldn't have been running the CIA. A Taco Bell maybe, but not the CIA.

Irony here is, we are expected to buy the msm narrative that the "US Director of the CIA" couldn't even manage to keep his covert affair secret.

This is the level of incompetence of this entire administration.

A couple of recent things to consider with this narrative:

1. Recall 11/1/2012 via Pat Dollard:
Valerie Jarret: After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time

Some excellent points made at Ace's blog:

This may be payback for leaking or some tortured way of keeping Petraeus from testifying. Panetta is leaving.... Patraeus is now gone... Gen. Hamm African Command Gen is retiring... Admiral in Charge of Carriers in the area, relieved of Command...
Yesterday it was reported that a group of SEALS from Team Six, one of which took part in the "Bin Laden" raid, will be disciplined for leaking classified information to a game developer. The day after the election, the "Coptic" film-maker was sentence to a year. Now Petraeus. Begs the question, was Petraeus the source for Jennifer Griffin’s story &/or as Spencer speculates, is this payback for Petraeus' statement pointing fingers back at his superiors?

and
2. These are bits of info about the alleged affair stitched together from comments at Ace's blog:
"Paula Broadwell is a research associate at Harvard University's Center for Public Leadership and a PhD candidate in the Department of War Studies at King's College London. She spent much of the past year in Afghanistan as an embedded author, building upon her previous two-year pursuit of a doctoral dissertation: a study in transformational leadership and organizational innovation influenced by U.S. Army General David Petraeus. " ..."She had 15 years of military service, Harvard, PHD candidate, Westpoint grad + not ugly = attraction..."""Paula is married to Dr. Scott Broadwell, an interventional radiologist who has saved more lives than she has. They have two very busy young boys, Lucien and Landon. They live together in Charlotte, NC, and when Paula is not on the frontlines, online, or writing lines, they love to run, ski, and surf together. "..."On WRKO talk radio, I heard the host say this Broadwell is / was an aide to Fauxcahontas Warren. Interesting, if true."..."
She didn't even write the book about Petraeus. It was ghostwritten. The title reveals "with Vernon Loeb."..."Loeb is a former Washington Post reporter who wrote the false Jessica Lynch she-fired-until-her-gun-was-empty story. He's currently the WaPo Metro Editor."..."Broadwell has an extensive background in counterterrorism (allegedly)"..."FWIW, Mrs Petraeus was the daughter of the superintendent of West Point ."

Given the the Senate Committee controlling whether Petraeus testifies is controlled by the democrats, does anyone really expect this dem committee will subpoena Petraeus? With all of the sudden personnel changes in this administration, is there a dem committee member with the spinal fortitude to challenge the WH?

cont.

3. This also illustrates an all too familiar tactic from the Obama portfolio of political tricks. Recall 2004 Senate race and Republican Jack Ryan's experience with opposing Obama.

The book you mentioned was pretty much ghostwritten.

How is that relevant?

Do you have a source for your claim?

Were any of these 40 deaths of an American ambassador, or of any Americans at all?

Did Bush a) try to cover up the nature of the attacks by in effect lying and blaming free speech?
b)actually prevent help from arriving to reinforce the defense of the attacked consulates/embassies?

Relevant because ghostwritten books often have an authenticity problem, as this one did, with some who knew Summersby claiming that the ghostwriter just made some things up. Here's what we know for certain: We don't know for certain that Eisenhower had an affair with Summersby. No serious historian would state it as fact but only mention it as possible.

Actually a better WWII analogy is Rommel being invited to commit suicide by the Fuehrer

Talking of affairs, the incoming CEO of Lockheed Martin, Christopher Kubasik was ousted for having a "close personal relationship" with a subordinate at the defense contractor.

Why are so many weird things happening right after the elections? What really, is going on?

"Why are so many weird things happening right after the elections? What really, is going on?"

Assuming you're on to something, let's let our conspiratorial side out for a moment:

Valerie Jarret is now conducting a quiet Night of Long Knives. Those retiring from key positions cannot be fully trusted by the regime and now will be conveniently replaced by locked-in statists who share Obama's dream of fundamentally transforming America.

If this scenario is true, it's far later than any of us think.

But then, it's already far later than a lot of us are willing to admit, so it really wouldn't matter if it's true.

Rasool O won't fill those vacancies with anyone likely to oppose him...Different team, same game...

eromnodd, Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder are first order statists, as long as it's their party of self-styled progressives in power. I suspect that there's a deeper and more damning problem with One-Big-A$$-Mistake,-America X 2, and the rats are abandoning a ship that they suspect will sink before too long.

Just as the Muslim Brotherhood's global jihad is purging the Muslim world of all the secular Muslim leaders supported by the U.S., so Obama will now purge the U.S. Government of anyone opposed to his agenda of dhimmifying the U.S. under the Islamic caliphate. (He hopes to be the political Mahdi)

Now there are reports that he will decline to testify. On what ground?

Who knows!

"let's let our conspiratorial side out for a moment..."

Let's not. Not even for a moment.
