Petraeus testifies that CIA reported al-Qaeda involvement in Benghazi attack, but that line was removed

If Obama were a Republican, Congress would be making a serious investigation of this coverup and all his lies to cover his support for jihadists in Libya. Instead, the truth dribbles out here and there, with ample time given for the administration to formulate new...talking points.

"Petraeus testifies CIA's Libya talking points were changed, lawmaker says," from
FoxNews.com, November 16 (thanks to Kenneth):

Former CIA Director David Petraeus testified in a closed-door hearing Friday morning that his agency determined immediately after the Sept. 11 Libya attack that "Al Qaeda involvement" was suspected -- but the line was taken out in the final version circulated to administration officials, according to a top lawmaker who was briefed.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., who spoke to reporters after Petraeus testified before the House Intelligence Committee, indicated he and other lawmakers still have plenty of questions about the aftermath of the attack.

"No one knows yet exactly who came up with the final version of the talking points," he said.

Petraeus was heading next to the Senate Intelligence Committee to testify. At the same time, lawmakers unexpectedly convened a briefing with top members of various committees to examine a Sept. 25 letter to President Obama that asked a series of classified questions on Benghazi.

Petraeus' testimony both challenges the Obama administration's repeated claims that the attack was a "spontaneous" protest over an anti-Islam video, and according to King conflicts with his own briefing to lawmakers on Sept. 14. Sources have said Petraeus, in that briefing, also described the attack as a protest that spun out of control.

"His testimony today was that from the start, he had told us that this was a terrorist attack," King said, adding that he told Petraeus he had a "different recollection."...

I guess we must conclude that POTUS, the imbecile John Brennan, and most dangerously the counter-intel chief at CIA (an actual convert to Islam) are all Fellow Travellers with violent Jihadists. At Benghazi, they seem to actually be trying to protect the killers of our people after the fact.

... If Obama were a Republican, Congress would be making a serious investigation of this coverup and all his lies to cover his support for jihadists in Libya. ... Robert

Robert,

You understate.

If Obama were a Republican, the Dems would be launching a Watergate style investigation, and collaterally be drafting articles of impeachment. That obama skated through all this in the midst of an election speaks worlds to the power of the bully pulpit, and the PURE IDIOCY of the current American electorate.

I often see Europe and the European eagerness to please Islam being roughly treated on the comments section of this blog. I can partly agree with this ...aw heck, I can largely agree with this.
But when I again look at how Islam in general and the Brotherhood in particular have managed to gain influence within the administration and the security services of the United States ...I scoff at the rough treatment given Europe.

The line was taken out? ...well there's your smoking gun!

Of course this all leads back to obama. What a lying snake.

The truth is going to bite Obama and Hilli real hard. This is not the only lie they told us. what about work related violence as they put it related to Nidal?

QUOTING ROBERT SPENCER:

"If Obama were a Republican, Congress would be making a serious investigation of this coverup and all his lies to cover his support for jihadists in Libya. Instead, the truth dribbles out here and there, with ample time given for the administration to formulate new...talking points."

Robert.....What is wrong with you?

This is twice in two days that you jump to conclusions that are not supported by evidence, but which could easily appear to resonate with an irrational, emotional attachment to, rather than rational agreement with the premises you have brought forward in the past.

In fact, your conviction and projection that Obama is lying about this issue, is totally unsupported by any evidence available at this time.

What I'm beginning to see is a person (Robert Spencer) who is continuing to spiral down into the mud pit of emotional sensationalism, rather than intellectual persuasion.

What happened to that man that I so respected when he appeared in the film "Islam - What the West Needs to Know"?

Well then, why don't you start your own web site?
Who cares what you are 'beginning to see', are you someone 'special'?

The lies start at the top...find the man at the top and you will find the liar...

robert what is wrong with you.....
or you could respectfully disagree with him no?
M

Responding to dug Swami's question as to whether or not I am someone special...

In fact, I am a very ordinary citizen. I am also a person who is willing to question anyone, at any time when I feel it necessary.

Robert Spencer captivated my attention several years ago when I saw his brilliant and comprehensive description of the Islamic way of life in the movie I mentioned in my original post. My personal perspective was forever changed by that experience and I’ve followed his activities on and off ever since that time.

That being said, I am in NO WAY, a Robert Spencer acolyte who will follow wherever he goes, forever abdicating my judgment for his.

When I see a person who has proved his status as an intellectual dedicated to a dispassionate, intellectual, and rational projection of ideas based on documented facts, waver in his or her path and begin to exhibit tactics that are idiosyncratic, emotional, and fantastic, rather than ordinarily rational, I find it necessary to inform that person that they are risking my trust.

If a person who has established my trust based on dispassionate and objective truths, resorts to speculation and exploitation of emotional, personal attachments, then I begin to question whether or not ANYTHING that person has stated in the past is true.

Dude - Dems are the majority in Congress.

Obama said that when his National Security people (unnamed) informed him of the attack, he told them to do all they could to protect American lives...So what was his reaction when he found out they didn't make any attempt to do that? His orders (if he actually gave such an order) was disobeyed, and the Americans were killed...He should have been loudly pzzed off...He should have demanded to know from his people exactly who ignored or changed his orders...Instead he goes on a fund raiser...Seemingly not the least upset that his orders were ignored or changed...This whole episode does not pass the smell test...Don't blame me. I didn't vote for him...

you can disagree all you want. that is why we are all here.... but that does not give you the right to be disrespectful.
m

20 minutes and counting down to a stiff scotch and a cigar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
M

I'm not interested in your theories of life...
I agree with Robert on everything Islamic...Other things I don't always agree, but I never come on here and give him some whining razz matazz about about how he has greatly disappointed me...

Many Leftists and Islamic supremacists come in to the comments here trying to confuse people and render them complacent about jihad and guilty about resisting it.

Well, they are not very good at it. When they can convince Wellington, or Champ, I will give them credit...

Petraeus testifies that CIA reported al-Qaeda involvement in Benghazi attack, but that line was removed
.......................

More whitewashing. This is all deeply disturbing—but few are paying much attention to this issue now, as they are distracted by the tawdry scandal.

More:

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., who spoke to reporters after Petraeus testified before the House Intelligence Committee, indicated he and other lawmakers still have plenty of questions about the aftermath of the attack.
.......................

Glad to see that Congressman Peter King is still on the job. His understanding of Jihad and its threat is not perfect, but it is *much* better than that of most lawmakers.

"If Obama were a Republican, Congress would be making a serious investigation of this coverup and all his lies to cover his support for jihadists in Libya. Instead, the truth dribbles out here and there, with ample time given for the administration to formulate new...talking points."

So right, Robert, this is so obvious; and those that disagree with your statement aren't paying attention, or they suffer from willful ignorance/blindness. Probably both.

"If Obama were a Republican, the Dems would be launching a Watergate style investigation"

Not only the Dems, but half the Republicans would be going along with the Dems on that.

"I often see Europe and the European eagerness to please Islam being roughly treated on the comments section of this blog. I can partly agree with this ...aw heck, I can largely agree with this.

The Whole F***ing West is blind to the danger of Islam.

Hi https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=AItOawmIJkc6gLwvKMnY0aAJgvJ7dPWIuIq2E0A -- can I call you "https://" for short...?

Robert may not have smoking gun evidence for his conjecture; but neither do you for yours. One thing he has that you don't, however: he has, and has reported over the last 4 years, thousands of dots of data that any reasonable person could connect, to indict Obama of an anti-American, anti-Western, pro-Islamic agenda.

"can I call you 'https://' for short...?"

Good one, LemonLime, lol! ...the new yahoo accounts are so impersonal.

oh wait -- that's a google account not yahoo, well those are also impersonal and reeeeeeally looooooong.

"can I call you http:// for short?"

You got me chuckling pretty good there.

It's sort of hard to respond to these huge random moniker people. No way to pronounce a name like that, and you're not immediately sure which random moniker you are responding to.

Yes Champ and Traeh, I don't think those new nicknames are just some random computer accident.

@LemonLIme: Actually you can call me Tyrehl. I don’t know why the system here won’t allow me to post using my Facebook account, so the next best thing is to use my Google identity. Why that creates a soup of characters to identify me I have no idea, nor do I have any power over that.

@Robert Spencer I can imagine that after having spent so much time under attack by people who would ignore your scholarship and assign to you, motives that you do not hold, that it would be easy for you to adopt the posture that all critical comments are of the same sort. When one harvests limes in the field all day, it can become difficult to notice the importance of anything other than green objects when one returns home. You’ve made that mistake with me, and I’ll see if I can help you see the broader spectrum.

First, while for you, the movie I referenced happened almost ten years ago, for me, it was the first thing that brought me to your attention., and that was only late this past summer. It was also the catalyst for me to divert some time away from other life duties to look more closely at what Islam is, since I’ve only had a casual exposure to it. Because of that, as with many other people, I’d assumed wrongly up until now that the Koran was the beginning and end of Islam. You and the others in the film helped open my eyes to that error. I also began to realize that since I am closer to the end of my life, than I am to the beginning, that it would be impractical to believe that I will have the time available to explore the depths of the primary texts. As such I need to place my trust in those who have spent the necessary time doing the heavy lifting and who can describe it in a manner that will allow me begin to understand its nature, rather than personally examine each and every specific detail.

In short, I don’t think it is necessary for one to personally study every page of the Bible to have a Christ Consciousness, nor is it required to sit Zazen for an entire lifetime to see the Buddha nature. Even so, many people get trapped in each of these considerations and become blinded to the forest by the trees.

As for me, I’ve been looking at a wide variety of sources over the past couple months and only within the past few days, have visited your blog with any regularity. I’ve spent far more time watching/listening to video presentations on this subject, since I find that much more can be learned about a person’s perspective when the words he or she projects are accompanied by body language and verbal inflection.

To sum up, I’m a reasonably well educated person, and am not so undisciplined that I, personally, would discount your scholarship in Islam because of a few ill-chosen pronouncements on you blog. However it should not to be ignored that if an intelligent person enters this blog space from a different perspective, without the advantage of having witnessed your scholarship first, and sees the lazy and sensational types of statements such as the two I’ve pointed out in the past two days, you risk ever having that person listen to anything you have to say or looking deeper into what I believe to be the more important ideas at the foundation of your purpose.

Respectfully,

Tyrehl

@ Tyrehl

A question for you: Who do you think we JW posters who are long in the tooth are going to listen to? Someone like you who waltzes in out of the blue with a bee in his bonnet, or the 'rightly guided' Robert Spencer who has wiped the floor with apologists for Islam on several occasions in one-on-one televised arguments?

You're a self-aggrandising clown!

Now, pi** off!

"You're a self-aggrandizing clown!"

I agree, Buraq ...who declares themselves to be "a reasonably WELL educated person"? A self-aggrandizing person, that's who. Gosh I didn't realize that we were in the presence of greatest so excuse me while I bow ...I mean curtsy.

"A question for you: Who do you think we JW posters who are long in the tooth are going to listen to? Someone like you who waltzes in out of the blue with a bee in his bonnet, or the 'rightly guided' Robert Spencer who has wiped the floor with apologists for Islam on several occasions in one-on-one televised arguments?"

You are sooo right ...

The sheeple on this blog will believe anything the Fox will conjure up.

You wrote:

"The sheeple on this blog will believe anything the Fox will conjure up."

Now that's ironic ...

muslims will believe anything written in the unholy quran written by a heinous criminal claiming to be a prophet from God--who's the real "Fox" here. In fact muhammad (perdition is upon him) is currently rotting in hell where he belongs. Jeez how stupid does a person have to be to subscribe to the rantings of godless rebel like muhammad? ...pretty darn stupid!

Agreed.

Worse still, we're stuck here in this new demographic of the American voter until we get some new leadership in the Republican party who can be appealing to the Hispanic influx and the "undecideds"......

cf: "Part of complete coverage on

With their big political win, the new American electorate has arrived
By Halimah Abdullah, CNN

Also, somewhere I saw that for the first time in the history of this country, White children born were less than 50% of the total newborns. Now the new demographics support the Democrat Party.

So, the White guys here better start getting busy without condoms.

I know, I know....that instantly labels me a "racist bigot".....but the Arabs in the Middle East have been gaining population against the Jews for quite some time now......so this is not "racism" per se, it's the fact of life. Hence, this works opportunisticly (sic) and is equally affirmatively actionable.

[..can't believe I typed that sentence, but there it is....say it quickly out loud, three times, then repeat.....at least I avoided punning IN CAPS!]

What utter crap. While I consider Jihad Watch the very best single source for information on the Jihad threat, it is hardly the only one.

In fact, I had become utterly alarmed by the rising threat of Jihad when I had no other sources but the MSM.

I have learned a great deal here at Jihad Watch, but it has only deepened and broadened my understanding of the threat we face, but has not changed my initial concerns.

If someone is not alarmed by the constant flood of Jihad violence issuing from Dar-al-Islam—including 9/11 and the slaughter of our ambassador and diplomatic staff in Benghazi—they they are either oblivious, deep in denial, or a Jihad enabler themselves.

And describing the erudite and caring Robert Spencer as a "fox" in this context is the grossest calumny.

Reference https://

I also have long been an appreciative admirer of all Robert Spencer has done to expose the evil nature of Islam. However, do not let us imagine him to be al-insan al-kamil and uswa hasana. None of us are infallible and like https:// I have sometimes winced a little when Robert occasionally has appeared to be making a mountain out of an Islamic mole hill.

Robert Spencer has done stirling work in exposing Islam. All credit and honour to him, but please, we must not acredit to him the same status Muslims foolishly give to Muhammad and assume he is beyond question and reproach.

For example, I was somewhat worried and a little taken-aback by the story about the Muslim judge and alimony payments. It appeared to be off topic and very short of firm informantion, as some commentators pointed out.

We are none of us infallible and beyond questioning. Keep up the good work Robert and thank you for all you have done.

"A question for you: Who do you think we JW posters who are long in the tooth are going to listen to? Someone like you....."

On the off chance that your hyperbolic question isn’t rhetorical in nature, my response would be that my comments weren’t directed toward the readers of the blog, but rather its author.

You wrote -" The sheeple on this blog will believe anything the Fox will conjure up."

Guess what, mate? - I'm an Aussie.

I hadn't even *heard* of 'Fox News' when I started reading at this forum. I don't *have* cable or satellite TV. I certainly hadn't watched even one broadcast.

And I didn't start watching it *after* I became a regular here, because basically I don't watch a whole hell of a lot of TV, period...my children (teenagers) use our TV mostly for playing video games and watching dvds. Our family doesn't watch the TV news, as a rule. Not on any channel.

And although Murdoch owns 'The Australian', I don't read it very often (especially as most of its main online articles are now behind a paywall, and I don't take a daily newspaper of the paper variety, the house has got enough junk in it as it is without adding more); it doesn't seem to cover Islam much differently from other papers.

Furthermore: plenty of other people who lurk or who post here, are not Americans. They have their own - mostly equally unsatisfactory - news media.

Representing the average jihadwatch reader, whether poster or lurker, as an American and as a slavish devotee of Fox news would be, I suspect, wide of the mark.

Your pomposity is really quite funny, in a toe curling way.

''You’ve made that mistake with me, and I’ll see if I can help you see the broader spectrum.''

Well, that's breathtakingly condescending, right there.

''I also began to realize that since I am closer to the end of my life, than I am to the beginning, that it would be impractical to believe that I will have the time available to explore the depths of the primary texts. As such I need to place my trust in those who have spent the necessary time doing the heavy lifting and who can describe it in a manner that will allow me begin to understand its nature, rather than personally examine each and every specific detail''

So, because you're getting old, you can't be bothered to read any primary texts yourself, but will instead graciously rely on ''those who have spent the necessary time doing the heavy lifting'', whilst at the same time attempting to imply that because they say something you take issue with, they are somehow ''risking your trust''.

Personally, I think you're a self-satisfied, fatuous little twat. You've posted nothing of any substance or interest, and you're a bore. Bugger off and play somewhere else. We're grown-ups here, and you're out of your league.

As dumbledoresarmy has already pointed out, not everyone who reads and comments on JW is an American.

I, for example, am a Scot, living in England. And as gravenimage has pointed out, JW, whilst **excellent**, is hardly the only source of information about the islamic jihad threat.

I first became seriously alarmed about islam after 9/11, and started scouring the net for information. I had never heard of Fox news either, and, like dda, do not take in newspapers, but read them on line. So your statement is really fatuous.

I haven't watched FOX news in over 10 years. I consider FOX news to be a rather wimpy, limp-wristed source for actual news about what Muslims are doing around the world and why. However, as weak as FOX is, it's still better than the more mainstream media, only because that's how bad they are.

(For those who don't know, I am thoroughly anti-Islam.)

"so the next best thing is to use my Google identity. Why that creates a soup of characters to identify me I have no idea, nor do I have any power over that."

If a commenter finds themself forced to sign in with Google, then to avoid those long-string nicknames, create a Google account, for which you will be asked to create a user name. That user name will then appear here when you sign in. That way, you can avoid these long technically futuristic names that sound like the generator for a starship, and pick a more user friendly name (one that's relatively easy for a person can type when addressing you, for example -- like "Slave of Allah" would do).

Petraeus lies.

Oabama lies.

Rice lies.

Hillary lies.

Paneta lies.

The media covers for their lies with touching naivete about not knowing what to investigate or how or even if it is necessary.

But the Benghazi-gate cover up and lies will implode this Administration at surely Watergate did Nixon's.

We are witnessing Nixon 2.0.

Profitsbeard

so *many* lies and so *much* confusion is a red flag to anybody who, like me, has read M Scott Peck's preliminary study of human evil, 'People of the Lie'.

He argues there that lying - consistent, persistent, both subtle and unsubtle lying - is one of the key indicators or indeed perhaps *the* key indicator that a person (or a group) is *evil* (which is why he called the book 'People of the Lie', for that is what really evil people *are*). And when he says 'evil', he means **evil**, not just ordinarily criminal/ bad. He also argues that such people don't necessarily commit ordinary, obvious crimes; he encountered a number of truly evil people, in the course of his practice as a psychololgical counsellor, who had never run to that point afoul of law enforcement in their lives, yet who had destroyed - and were wilfully destroying, physically and spiritually - other human beings.

And he also argues that when an ordinary decent human being encounters a thoroughly evil human being, there are two reactions that often happen 1/ revulsion - you can't get away from their company fast enough, though sometimes you may have difficulty figuring out just precisely why and 2/ *confusion*. Further: the truly evil person will *produce* confusion (that is, a trail of chaos and disruption will follow in their wake).
