The boy who urinated on the Qur'an book was apparently ignorant about even the basics of Islam, and the reason for that apparent ignorance is unknown to us.

This account doesn't tell us the age of the boy, so we don't know the capability of the boy to understand Islam's tenets. Apparently, the boy was tempted by another boy's beguiling words -- a situation similar to Eve's encounter with the tempter in Eden. In both cases, the beguiler succeeded. In both cases, the beguiler did not have the best interests of the beguiled-one in mind; the beguiler aimed to destroy the beguiled-one.

I don't know what churches do in regions where Islam is dominant. Perhaps they decline to educate children about the truth of Islam because they fear that Muslim or pre-Muslim infiltrators will learn what they are publicly teaching about Islam, or they fear that children will innocently reveal candidly ("spill the beans", as children do) to other children and adults what they know about Islam and thereby incur the wrath of Islamic people in regions where Islam is dominant.

It is a tough situation. They are walking on eggshells. Their situation requires great wisdom and great courage.

And remember, Tanzania *is not a Muslim country*. The nation's population is approximately 62% Christian and 35% Muslim (with about 3% followers of indigenous religions).

But a population that is 35% Muslim is enough, as we well know, to make them murderously aggressive.

And if that doesn't work they can just falsify it it entirely, as an Imam in Pakistan recently did with a little developmentally-disabled Christian girl...

So the Muslim boy wanted to cause the Christian harm from the beginning—what a surprise. Of course, the Christian child wasn't turned into a snake, a dog, or a rat—he was just threatened with beheading, and his community had at least five of their churches burned down. **Ugh**.

Also very, very common. This is Muslims both enthusiastically claiming responsibility for the destruction, *and* claiming ownership of the site. That will make it that much more difficult for Christians to try to rebuild. Add this to the Islamic bar on Christians building or even just doing upkeep on churches, and the situation is even worse.

'Obeid' is not a name from any of the native languages of Africa; it is clearly an Arabic-derived name.

Looks to me as though we have here either an apostate from Islam, or - like Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali in the UK - a son of an apostate. Could even be a grandson of someone intelligent who left the Mohammedan Mob and became a Christian and raised Christian children.

Is the good reverend Emmanuel Masoud an apostate from Islam who has followed a vocation into Christian ministry, or the descendant - son, grandson, great-grandson - of an apostate?

The wonderful man who supervised my Masters paper on Islam was an Anglican Missionary in East Africa for many years. He told me that the Anglican Cathedral in Zanzibar was built on the site of the old slave market, with the altar at the site of the whipping post.

Well over a decade ago I wrote a paper as an undergraduate comparing the then relatively harmonious relationship between Tanzanian Muslims & Christians with the very difficult relationship between Nigerian Christians & Muslims. The prevalence of Swahili in the East (itself a legacy of the Muslim slave trade, with many Arabic loan words) was deemed a unifying force. As was the lack of strong historical inter-tribal animosity. Nigeria did not share these things. Yet here we are still...

Isn't it interesting how there is REGULARLY an escalation of violence after friday sermons and during Ramadan? One would expect - and one sees among Christians - the exact opposite from a religious population around their holy times.

Yet again the call for independence once again manifests itself. Islamic revival movements do indeed all read from the same script and as Mark Durie & others state: Islam may be quite incapable of living as a minority.

That is quite likely as well, Wayne. Just like the case where a developmentally-disable Christian girl in Pakistan was supposed to have burnt a Qur'an, when the whole story was ginned up by the local Imam to force Christians to move out of the area.

The only reason the story rang true to me is the aspect of the Muslim boy's *luring* the child into damaging the Qur'an.

This vile meretriciousness—with the stated intent of seeing the Christian boy harmed in one way or another—is what fits so well with Muslim habits that it leads me to believe it is probably true.

Of course, he might also have tried to lure the Christian into "desecrating" the Qur'an, then peed on it himself and claiming the Christian boy had done it if unsuccessful.

In any case, very, very ugly.

Jihadists have been telling us for over a decade exactly their motivation, and what they intend.

It therefor is the lack of allegiance and patriotisum of the White House, Pentagon, Senate, Congress, Dept. of Defense, and Homeland Security that nations throughout the world are still struggling against many millions of jihadists throughout the world.

There is no good reason why the United Nations and other nations can't join (unite) in a serious commitment to end jihadists world wide.

It should be no surprize that these bombings and murders continue against non-Muslims. But the tip of the sword is not jihad with weapons, but jihad politically and socially in the justice departments and courtrooms world wide. The push for Sharia Law in place of local constitutions is the most dangerous weapon jihadists have.....
