Hang on a minute... but Sandy is God's punishment to the U.S. for abandoning Israel and a warning to America not to vote Obama back in.
But then again why would God care if the United States deserts Israel or not? Surely Allah would want to reward the U.S. because Allah hates Israel.
Ah, but, you say, God and Allah are not the same. But Muslims seem to think that they are.
Allah, after all rewards Muslim nations but punishes infidel nations.
But what about the earthquake in Pakistan?
Yes, but Allah was only punishing Muslims for not being Muslim enough.
Okay, okay I'm confused. So are Muslims too, it seems.

Just what I was going to note—but Robert Spencer beat me to it. Curses! (tongue-in-cheek here, of course...)

Whatever the case, it is clear—to pious Muslims, in any case—that "Allah" is smiting us with Hurricane Sandy for *being filthy Infidels*.

Of course, even with a storm as terribly destructive as Sandy, we are now digging out, pumping out the water, and getting down to rebuilding.

Somehow, Allah just hasn't been able to break our "Can Do" spirit. What a loser!

I am so tempted to say that the storm was a divine punishment for our president and SecState screaming that no insults to Islam will be tolerated while allowing Muslims to call Jews "apes and pigs" and allowing Hollywood degenerates to mock Jesus Christ at every turn.

But, Luke 13 stands, and warns me to think that the New Jerseyans and New Yorkers aren't bigger sinners than the rest of us.

Wrong, mate.

For a thoroughly Christian, thoroughly Biblical discussion of the 'problem of evil' - both natural disaster on the grand scale, and the human-caused variety - see David Bentley Hart, 'The Doors of the Sea'.

It is short, and to the point, and it simply *demolishes* the canard you have just promulgated.

But you will *not* be able to claim, after reading it, that the orthodox Christian 'reading' of such things as the Shoah, or the Killing Fields, or the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004 (to name but three, the last of which led to Hart's writing of his little book) is to see them as divinely-ordained-and-inflicted *punishments*.

All 'religions' are *not* the same, as you so sweepingly proclaim, and all religions are *not* equally destructive.

If they were, then just for starters, Muslims would not be the world leaders in 'honor' murders (they account for 91 percent of them, world-wide; the other nine percent take place among Hindus and Sikhs, that is, among communities who have been subjected to the pernicious influence of Islam for *centuries* and have probably absorbed bad habits and bad ideas in the course of their desperate struggle for survival; hard to fight against Islam, long-term, without being corrupted). There was a study of family violence, done in the UK in the early 1990s; it discovered that women with Muslim husbands were *eight times more likely* to be killed by their husbands, than *any other women in Britain*. If Islam were no different from, say, Christianity or Hinduism, then the figures for, say, wife-murder or daughter-slaughter would be the same for all three faith-groups; *they are not*.

There was a lady called Tina Magaard who did an academic study on the content of the texts of major world religions, looking specifically at what percentage of each of hose texts could be classified as violent or as incitement to violence and hatred.

She discovered that the texts of Islam were way out ahead of everybody else's, in this department.

Is that difference immaterial? You think that a difference like that can be coolly disregarded?
