Good to see (and not surprising) that Robert is prepared to criticize his own faith's officials.

Crocodiles they are, and the prelates of my church will be eaten, though probably NOT last.

Iranian leaders have publicly stated that they would like to see the Vatican destroyed. They may have said so to the exclusion of other targets in Europe, other than the UK. What, after all, are their IRBMs for, since Israel is near enough for SRBMs and the US too far?

This may indeed be a case of holding your enemies closer, but even that will come to naught in the end.

Guess we know now who the "False Prophet" is.

Holy Mother Church has many enemies and Mahometans and Jews are but two of them who, although they are in disagreement with each other, are untied in their opposition to Jesus and His Church.

He is delusional who thinks the Mahometans have a stronger desire to destroy His Church than do the Jews.

Now, writing just for my own self, I'd be happy to hear Holy Mother Church state frankly to both Mahometans and Jews that they must convert or suffer the fires of eternal Hell but my advice is even less compelling than that of Mr. Spencer (whose books I love btw,).

The Church's only mission is the salvation of souls. Anything conflicting with or even merely distracting from that mission puts the Vatican on a collision course with their avowed Boss.

It's not possible for me to see any good coming from fostering relations with Hizbollah, although I admit that Vatican diplomats do not take me into their confidence and I may not see the bigger picture. But as was said, whatever they're up to must conform to the only mission they were ever given or the crocodiles will be the least of their problems.

I was raised Catholic.

The Vatican pulled this same crap in their dealings with the Nazis. Many priests were brave and fought the Nazis one way or another. But the Vatican? Same thing playing out in their dealings with the godless Islam.

Perhaps Catholic Friends of Israel should send the new Patriarch, the Lebanese [Maronite] Patriarch, Bechara Boutros Rai, a copy of the letter written by Archbishop Ignace Moubarac Of Beirut, In 1947, On "The Two Homelands".

I can only imagine how sad Brigitte Gabriel - herself of Maronite Catholic Lebanese upbringing, and who gradually thought her way free of the antisemitism that, alas, suffused much of the world of her childhood and youth, an antisemitism that she was smart enough to jettison when she had contact with lots of lovely, real-life, profoundly civil and civilised Israeli Jews and found herself falling in love with Israel - must be feeling about this disastrous promotion of the dhimmi Jew-hater, Bechara Boutros Rai.

As a catholic I find this very troubling. I would have to hear the Vatican side to this story. However making a cardinal out of a man Rai, that is and always will be a Muslim sider. This is in my opinion a mistake to make, or even listen to Iran and its president, that is a terrorist himself is appalling. The Catholic church is indeed in dark waters, and if not careful it will be eaten by the enemy of peace.

The Catholic church has taught since Vat II that Catholics worship God together with the Muslims.
So we know that that Vatican is no longer Catholic. If you attend the Vat II church then you are not Catholic either.

Anyhow, if you go to the Islamic Culture and Relations website and click on the article of their meeting at the Vatican you'll see a picture of everyone assembled in front of a painting. If you look at the Nazi swastika you can see that it is visible in the Vatican painting.

It's all very scary and if I was a Jew I wouldn't want Muslim neighbors. I still don't understand why they picked the middle east for their Jewish state. Wouldn't life have been so much more peaceful in Argentina or some such other place where they are not hemmed in by people who want to kill them?

If I remember history...the Catholic Church had a pretty cozy relationship with Nazi Germany during the thirties and early forties too. So, why should this development be any surprise.

Apparently, for people such as vermontcrank1, the murder of approximately one third of the Jewish people in the world approximately seventy years ago by the Nazi regime of Germany and by thousands of the millions of Christian European supporters of the Nazi regime of Germany was not enough.
