Alabama: Muslim misunderstands Islam, plots to wage jihad in Africa

And he didn’t mean getting in his exercise despite a busy schedule, either. “Alabama terror case could hinge on relationships,” by Jay Reeves and Melissa Nelson-Gabriel for the Associated Press, December 23:

MOBILE, Ala. “” The terrorism case against an Alabama man accused of planning to wage violent jihad in Africa may hinge on just how well he knew a man on the FBI’s most-wanted terrorist list.

Federal prosecutors portrayed Randy Wilson as an Islamic radical who wanted to reunite with Omar Hammami, an American who also grew up in Alabama but has since become one of the most well-known jihadists in Somalia. Wilson and another American who lived in Alabama for the last year, Mohammad Abdul Rahman Abukhdair, are accused of plotting to leave the country to join Islamic radicals fighting in North Africa.

The two men were arrested separately about two weeks ago in Georgia. Abukhdair was taken into custody at a bus station; Wilson was arrested as he was about to board a flight to Morocco.

Wilson’s attorney has described his client as a devout Muslim who was taking his family to Mauritania to study Islam, not wage jihad. Public defender Domingo Soto also said Wilson didn’t live with Hammami, 28, about a decade ago, as the FBI has said, and the attorney questioned how well the two knew each other….

Wilson, 25, has a wife and two young children. He was known around his neighborhood in Mobile, along the Alabama coast, for his big yard sales. He was friendly and outgoing, neighbors said.

Court documents, interviews with acquaintances and a sworn statement by an FBI investigator paint a picture of Wilson’s troubled childhood.

Debra Lynn Weaver and Randy Lamar Wilson married in Mobile in 1986 and had Randy Jr. nine months later. Wilson’s father was arrested on drug charges in the first of a string of scrapes with the law, and his mother filed for divorce four months later, when he was 1.

Wilson’s mother remarried an Egyptian man when he was 5. She converted to Islam with the marriage, and her son eventually became Muslim, too.

Ashfaq Taufique, president of the Birmingham Islamic Society, remembered first meeting Wilson when he was attending an Islamic school.

“I knew him as a Muslim as a young boy,” said Taufique. “He went by Randy and Rasheed.”

Soto said Wilson has never been in trouble. While attending a Muslim school in Birmingham, he was offered prestigious scholarships to study abroad at places including Saudi Arabia, Soto said.

Hammami was the president of the Muslim Student Association at the University of South Alabama, the FBI said.

Shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, he was quoted in a campus newspaper talking about the attacks.

“Everyone was really shocked. Even now it’s difficult to believe a Muslim could have done this,” he told The Vanguard.

Yep, it’s virtually inconceivable that a Muslim would try to “slay the pagans wherever you find them” (Qur’an 9:5) or “strike terror” into the hearts of the unbelievers (3:151).

Hammami later wrote in an online autobiography that he already had turned toward radicalism by that time and privately praised Allah for the attacks….

Agents already were watching Abukhdair and Wilson by then. The FBI said Abukhdair moved in with Wilson’s family and gave the Friday sermon at a mosque in Mobile about a year ago.

Leaders at the mosque didn’t return telephone calls seeking comment, and a worker shooed away a reporter who visited.

The FBI said it kept tabs on the pair through an undercover operative. Wilson “described Hammami as a friend and showed the (undercover operative) an al-Qaeda video on his laptop praising jihad and the downfall of the West,” the FBI said.

Wilson and Abukhdair began concocting ways to travel to Africa to join in jihad, an agent wrote.

Wilson, the FBI said, believed he would receive “special treatment” in Somalia because of his connection with Hammami.

“In addition to travel plans, they discussed their joy that Omar Hammami is now on the FBI ‘Most Wanted Terrorists’ list, and were excited that he is now even more famous,” said the FBI statement.

Wilson lived next door to Tom Rothaar for two years. Rothaar said he was a friendly neighbor and who would have frequent yard sales with items he bought in bulk from big-box retail stores.

Rothaar said he was “staggered” by Wilson’s arrest and tried to make sense of it during a 5-mile run.

“I couldn’t,” Rothaar said. “The only thing I can think is all the typical clichés about how I cannot believe he was living next door and seemed so normal.”

Another decent fellow.

    This Islamonaïveté by a person living in the Deep South — and the fact that two of the deadly Muslims in the story were American citizens — are the most important parts of this report to mull over. The rest we already know (or should know).

    Erm ….some would say this is trouble.

    Yet more horrific and tragic fallout from ‘marriage jihad’.

    Worse even than a non-Muslim woman marrying a Muslim and producing children for the Mob, is what happens when a non-Muslim woman – widow, divorcee, or single mum – who already has a small child or children is targeted by a Muslim male, and the *child or children* are, along with their mother, ‘converted’ to islam. The poor kid/s, unless they have very determined and brave kin on the mother’s side who are prepared to go in to bat for them and remove them from the Muslim’s orbit, simply don’t stand a chance, especially if – like Randy/ Rasheed – they are very young when the Mohammedan Stepfather From Hell enters their lives.

    From the article –

    “Debra Lynn Weaver and Randy Lamar Wilson married in Mobile in 1986 and had Randy Jr. nine months later. Wilson’s father was arrested on drug charges in the first of a string of scrapes with the law, and his mother filed for divorce four months later, when he was 1.

    “Wilson’s mother remarried an Egyptian man when he was 5.

    “She converted to Islam with the marriage, **and her son eventually became Muslim, too.** {my emphasis – dda}.”

    In other words: a Western non-Muslim woman who had made one bad marriage to an Abuser (non-Muslim), and escaped that marriage, then promptly fell in with – or was deliberately targeted by – an even bigger and worse Abuser, the Ummah or Mohammedan Mob. She married an Egyptian Muslim advance scout of the Ummah who had been foolishly admitted into the USA. Question: was the Muslim she married already a US citizen, or did he gain citizenship by his marriage to this (probably psychically marginal, as Hugh Fitzgerald used to put it) American woman?

    And then not only was the woman gobbled up by the Ummah, but her – born not-Muslim – son, as well.

    He was sent to an Islamic school, not to a secular US school. One wonders: if there had been no Islamic school, if he had *had* to go to a secular US school perforce, whether he might have had a little more chance to escape full-on Islamic brainwashing and recruitment for Jihad.

    Yet again, we see precisely why ex-Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who knew all about what kinds of things are taught in Islamic school, told the UK government, the Dutch government, the Australian government and the US government, that they **ought NOT to permit Islamic schools**.

    But over and above that, the simple truth has to be stated: if there were no Muslim immigrants or ‘refugees’ or ‘students’ within the West, women like Randy/ Rasheed Wilson’s mother would not inflict Mohammedan stepfathers on their little children, and those vulnerable children would not grow up to become jihad plotters and traitors to their country of birth.

    (One wonders what would have happened, had Randy been a girl. FGM, probably, at the earliest opportunity; and forced veiling; and beatings, and a ‘holiday’ in Egypt for the purposes of a forced ‘marriage’ at a very early age, to a much older cousin of her stepfather’s, most likely in order to obtain US citizenship for said cousin).

    ‘Taking his family to Mauritania to study Islam, not wage Jihad’.

    ROFLMAO.

    First, if he wanted to study Islam, in the theoretical sense, for Sunni Muslims it’s either Al Azhar in Egypt (his father’s country) or somewhere in Saudi Arabia (where he’d already been offered a scholarship to ‘study’…suuure, and we know that the plotters of jihad would have been falling all over themselves to get hold of a born-westerner ‘white’ convert to Islam, *exactly* what they need for certain kinds of ‘operation’), that would surely be the places to go, not Mauritania. It’s not even as if they speak standard Arabic in Mauritania.

    Funny thing is, last time I heard this excuse – in an aussie case, and that one also involved a convert to Islam – it was Yemen (with somewhat greater semblance of plausibility, given that it’s on the Arabian peninsula and at least offers ‘Arabic by immersion’), not Mauritania that was the destination.

    Secondly, of course, those of us who know how totally Jihad is part of Islam know that ‘studying Islam’ and ‘waging jihad’ are not mutually exclusive options, anyway.

    For the benefit of people like Tom Rothaar, who may just happen to stumble in here via google, as they puzzle over what their seemingly-nice Muslim neighbour is now revealed to be:

    Jacques Ellul on Jihad, in a brief but punchy essay written as foreword for Bat Yeor’s historical study “The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam”

    http://www.dhimmi.org/Foreword.html

    Excerpt:

    “..a major, twofold fact transforms the jihad into something quite different from traditional wars, waged for ambition and self-interest, with limited objectives, where the “normal” situation is peace between peoples – war, in itself, constituting a dramatic event which must end in a return to peace.

    “This twofold factor is first the religious nature, then the fact that war has become an institution (and no longer an “event”).

    ” Jihad is generally translated as “holy war” (this term is not satisfactory): and this suggests both that this war is provoked by strong religious feeling, and then that its first object is not so much to conquer land as to Islamize the populations.

    “This war is a religious duty.

    “It will probably be said that every religion in its expanding phase carries the risks of war, that history records hundreds of religious wars and it is now a commonplace to make this connection. Hence, religious passion is thus sometimes expressed in this manner. But it is, in fact, “passion” – it concerns mainly a fact which it would be easy to demonstrate does not correspond to the fundamental message of the religion. This disjuncture is obvious for Christianity.

    “**In Islam, on the contrary, jihad is a religious obligation. It forms part of the duties that the believer must fulfil; it is Islam’s normal path to expansion. And this is found repeatedly dozens of times in the Koran. Therefore, the believer is not denying the religious message. Quite the reverse, jihad is the way he best obeys it.** {my emphasis – dda}.

    ” And the facts which are recorded meticulously and analyzed clearly [in Bat Yeor’s book – dda] show that the jihad is not a “spiritual war” but a real military war of conquest…”.

    And in the same essay, Ellul – a sociologist and student of institutions and law – states flatly that Islam is ‘fundamentally warlike’.

    And a rather longer and equally lucid essay by American lawyer Patrick L Moore, ‘From Cold War to ‘Guerra Fria”, written in 1994:

    FROM “COLD WAR” TO GUERRA FRIA?
    Patrick L. Moore

    Excerpt, and summary:

    “…There are five especially critical aspects about Islam’s doctrine of jihad which must be brought out to properly understand the significance of Islam as it relates to the United States and the West.

    ” In summary,

    “the meaning of jihad in its primary sense is military and coercive;

    ” it is central to the universalist doctrine of the Islamic belief system;

    “its operational aim is political domination of non-Islamic territories (i.e. rather than forced conversion);

    “it is offensive or aggressive in nature in the first instance (and not merely “defensive”);

    “and, finally, jihad is continuous in character (i.e. pending the ultimate victory of the forces of Islam)”…

    So, he wants to go to Mauretania to study Islam? Well, it’s just a step over a border to get into northern Mali to help the Tuareg wage jihad against the rest of Mali.

    And, I think Mauretania would be an excellent place to study Islam. Half of its schools are where kids absolutely ignorant of Classical Arabic (as opposed to Hissaniya) sit around with inscribed boards in hand learning to chant Qur’anic verses. Further, Mauretania, upstanding member of the UN’s human rights commission, is one of the few states where slavery is absolutely legal.
