Thrissur is in the southern Indian state of Kerala, which used to be in a happy state of coexistence between Hindus, muslims, and Christians. In the last 15 years, it has seen rising islamic radicalism due to the fact that a large number of muslims go out to work in the Middle East. They get indoctrinated there in the "virtues" of islam and come back to Kerala with their vile and perverse attitudes. One analyst said it very correctly: Indian subcontinent muslims feel enraged because they know their culture and heritage is Indic (read Hindu) but they have adopted a desert ideology whose originators (Arabs) don't view them as "true" muslims. So, these slimes are caught between a rock and a hard place. They can't go back to their Indic roots and are not accepted by the Arabs. This makes them lash out at everyone else.

The rioters on 8th November 1921 consisted of 500 men and continued their murderous rampage for two whole days. They went down to the railway at Mannur. Some of them returned by boats. Sixteen boat loaded with men went to Tirurangadi. Beside men, children and women were also killed in this raid. After Mannur, the gang set fire to over 100 houses at neighboring Vallikunnu amsam. The bodies of the slaughtered people were dumped into the river and Kerala Patrika paper reported 40 Hindus killed and a 7 months pregnant lady dead with the dead fetus protruding out of the slit abdomen.
