I've said it before, I'll say it again:

Any Christians in Egypt who have the means to leave, better get their behinds out of there.

It's only a matter of time before Cairo closely resembles Mogadishu.

Two observations.

First, the byline of this article - 'Hamza Hendawi for the Associated Press'.

Somehow I doubt that 'Hamza Hendawi' is a Coptic Christian. So, unless he is a closet apostate, there is no way that he could be completely fair to the Christians, or able to fully enter into their mounting terror.

Second, the account of the voting day:

And who, pray, threw those stones? There is only one possible candidate: Muslim villagers.

Let's rewrite the sentence in question, 'Muslims threw showers of stones at some Christians who did try to go to polling stations in villages, forcing them to turn back without casting ballots'.

Another sentence: 'Even under the secular regime of autocrat Hosni Mubarak, Egypt's Christians complained of discrimination and government failure to protect them and their rights.'

Correction: 'Even under the somewhat less fervently Islamic regime of Hosni Mubarak, Egypt's Christians suffered frequent and sometimes severe persecution from Muslims and the government did little or nothing to protect them and their rights'.

As the levels of persecution increase in Egypt, will the Copts be allowed to resettle in the West, or will refugee status be allocated only to Mohammedans fleeing Mohammedan violence?

If the Copts are not offered sanctuary in the West, who will either give them the means to defend themselves or take the responsibility for their murder and enslavement at the hands of the jihadis? Where will we in the West go when the Mohammedans insist on establishing the dhimma here in the West?

If the Churches will not raise their voices in protest at the issue of Coptic persecution in Egypt out of brotherly love, then they at least might do so in anticipation of the fate that looms over them as well.

The activists now see what happened in Assiut as a barometer for what Christians' status will be under a constitution that enshrines a greater role for Shariah, or Islamic law, in government and daily life. Egypt under Mubarak was still a Muslim state, and Christians *were* discriminated against and targeted for violence—but now things *are* likely to become much worse under the "Islamists"—especially if they are backed by a full Shari'ah state, s it appears they will be, given that they are intimidating Copts, secularists, and liberals—all the Egyptians who might be expected to vote "no" on this constitutional referendum.
