Hatred and Violence in the Qur'an Awareness Month: "And the Jews say, 'The hand of Allah is chained'...cursed are they for what they say."

Today brings still more Qur'anic antisemitism:

And the Jews say, "The hand of Allah is chained." Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters. (Qur'an 5:64)

"The hand of Allah is chained"? It is unclear what Jewish concept, if any, the Qur’an is referring to in this case. Ibn Kathir comments: “Allah states that the Jews, may Allah’s continuous curses descend on them until the Day of Resurrection, describe Him as a miser. Allah is far holier than what they attribute to Him.”

Allah is also absolute will, with hand absolutely unfettered: Allah’s unfettered hand is a vivid image of divine freedom. Such a God can be bound by no laws. Muslim theologians argued during the long controversy with the heretical Islamic Mu‘tazilite sect, which exalted human reason beyond the point that the eventual victors were willing to tolerate, that Allah was free to act as he pleased, even to the extent that he was not bound to govern the universe according to consistent and observable laws. “He cannot be questioned concerning what He does” (Qur’an 21:23).

Accordingly, there was no point to observing the workings of the physical world; there was no reason to expect that any pattern to its workings would be consistent, or even discernible. If Allah could not be counted on to be consistent, why waste time observing the order of things? It could change tomorrow. Stanley Jaki, a Catholic priest and physicist, explains that it was the renowned Sufi thinker al-Ghazali who “denounced natural laws, the very objective of science, as a blasphemous constraint upon the free will of Allah.”

The great twelfth-century Jewish philosopher Moses Maimonides explained orthodox Islamic cosmology in similar terms, noting that Islamic thinkers of his day assumed “the possibility that an existing being should be larger or smaller than it really is, or that it should be different in form and position from what it really is; e.g., a man might have the height of a mountain, might have several heads, and fly in the air; or an elephant might be as small as an insect, or an insect as huge as an elephant. This method of admitting possibilities is applied to the whole Universe.”

Relatively early in its history, therefore, science was deprived in the Islamic world of the philosophical foundation it needed in order to flourish. It found that philosophical foundation only in Christian Europe, where it was assumed that God was good and had constructed the universe according to consistent and observable laws. Such an idea would have been for pious Muslims tantamount to saying, “Allah’s hand is fettered.”

This same verse also says that whenever the Jews “kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it” That is, says the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, “war against the Prophet(s).” According to Bulandshahri, “The Jews make every effort to instigate wars against the Muslims, but Allah foils their attempts each time, either by instilling terror in their hearts or by their defeat in these battles.” The Jews also “strive to do mischief on earth” – that is, fasaad (فَسَاد) – for which the punishment is specified in Qur'an 5:33: “they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land.”

A Jewish woman from Khaibar whose family had been wiped out by Muhammad, put poison into a lamb and fed it to Muhammad and his men. Muhammad ingested some of the poisoned lamb and began to feel its effects. He died three years later, in extreme pain, as a result of the poisoning.

And Allah did nothing to foil her attempt!

In light of Israel's odds defying existence on the Arabian Peninsula (birthplace of Islam) a pius Moslem reading this verse must be (or should I say is) stung to the quick. For after 64 years of surviving Arab wars, rocket and suicide attacks, the most hateful propaganda and international condemnation it seems that Israel's Jews are indeed "chaining Allah's hand" making him look weak, pathetic, impotent, unlike a divine being.

And to make up for Allah's absence and lack of action against Israel its Arab enemies double and triple down on their hatred and plots to destroy her. And this insanity will continue until Israel's enemies exhaust themselves, or suffer a devastating defeat where millions die.

Islam is wilfully antimoral or amoral, just like its 'god'.

In 19th century American writer James Freeman Clarke's book 'Ten Great Religions', chapter 11, 'Mohammed and Islam', section 5, 'religious doctrines and practices among the Mohammedans', we read, among other things:

"Two recent travellers, Mr. Palgrave and Mr. Vambéry, have described the present state of Mohammedanism in Central Arabia and Turkistan, or Central Asia.
"Barth has described it as existing among the negroes in North Africa.
"Count Gobineau has told us of Islam as it is in Persia at the present day.
"Mr. MacFarlane, in his book "Kismet, or the Doom of Turkey," has pointed out the gradual decay of that power, and the utter corruption of its administration.
"After reading such works as these,—and among them let us not forget Mr. Lane's "Modern Egyptians,"—the conclusion we must inevitably come to is, that the worst Christian government, be it that of the Pope or the Czar, is very much better than the best Mohammedan government.

'God is the only force in the universe. Man is wholly passive and impotent.
'He calls the system, "A pantheism of force."

'God [that is, allah - dda] has no rule but arbitrary will.

'He is a tremendous unsympathizing autocrat, but is yet jealous of his creatures, lest they should attribute to themselves something which belongs to him.
'He delights in making all creatures feel that they are his slaves.

'This, Mr. Palgrave asserts, is the main idea of Mohammedanism, and of the Koran, and this was what lay in the mind of Mohammed...".

The crafty hand of Allah also allowed a Jewish woman prisoner to avenge her murdered relatives by poisoning a stew served to Mohammad and one of his colonels, who died immediately, having swallowed a full first taste.

Mohammad spit his mouthful out- but the venom was in him- and though he lived on, he was weakened, dying as a result this un-Last Supper-like meal.

Allah thus cut twenty years off Mohammad's career.

Why would Allah do that?

A rebuke to Mohammad?

Was it a warning against following Mohammad's example?

To renounce violence in the cause of religion?

Or something beyond our understanding?

How can you feel anything for a Deity that is Absolutely unpredictable?

Allah is X according to orthodox Islam.

The original, not rewritten by Mohammad 600 years after Jesus, Bible says:

"As long as the earth lasts, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Genesis 8:22

Natural laws are God's will for this world. He also performs miracles, as recorded in the Bible, but those are the exception and in accord with God's nature (as revealed in the Bible). In contrast to the God of the Bible, Mohammad's Allah is a pale, cheap imitation and a male fantasy which caters to lust for sex and power and riches.

The Bible also says satan is used to punish the wicked:

". . . you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord." 1 Corinthians 5:5

And, Jesus said we will know a tree by its fruit and that satan is the father of lies:

"You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies." John 8:44

When you honestly compare the Bible and the Qur'an (as interpreted by Mohammad in the Sunnah), it is apparent that Mohammad's Allah is NOT the God of the Bible. And, there are verses in the (original) Bible which refute every false assertion in the (later) Qur'an.
