India: Muslim preacher prays for Mumbai jihad mass murderer's soul, gets fired

Abdul Rauf, however, denies that he prayed for Kasab's soul, and says he is the victim of a power struggle. His words might be more credible, however, if Islamic supremacists didn't always disclaim responsibility for any wrongdoing, and blame someone else.

Noteworthy here is that Rauf was only dismissed after police began an investigation. How many other sympathizers with Kasab and his jihad mass murder remain in the Judge Mukku mosque, and other mosques? What programs have peaceful Muslims instituted in India or anywhere else to make sure that no other Muslims get the idea that massacring innocent civilians is pleasing to Allah? KOCHI: The managing committee of a Jama'at mosque here has initiated disciplinary action against its khatib (preacher leading Friday prayers) for allegedly praying for salvation of the soul of Ajmal Kasab two days after the terrorist was hanged in Pune's Yerwada Central Jail.
Khatib Abdul Rauf, however, preferred to resign from the post than wait for action against him following strong protest from the juma (Friday congregation) that had assembled at the Judge Mukku mosque at Thrikkakkara in Kochi's outskirts.

Though the incident had occurred on November 23, its details trickled out only after police began an investigation on Friday when it, once again, "became a talking point at the juma''.

"We have confirmed the incident. An investigation is on," a source in the police told TOI.

President of the Judge Mukku mosque managing committee Abdul Rehman also confirmed the incident. "Khatib Rauf did include the name of Ajmal Kasab in the prayer for the departed souls after the namaz,'' he told TOI.

"Every Friday we say a prayer for the souls. But to our surprise and shock khatib Rauf prayed for Kasab. There was instant protest from the juma,'' Rehman said.

The committee members immediately decided to suspend him. But before they could issue the suspension order, khatib Rauf offered his resignation.

When TOI contacted him, khatib Rauf maintained that he was being victimized. Rauf said he was being made a scapegoat of a tussle between two groups in the managing committee.

"I didn't pray for the salvation of Kasab's soul. That it was the first Friday after he was hanged I used his case as an example to advise the juma not to lead such a life,'' Rauf said.

All I said was that "Kasab got the punishment he deserved. Believers of Islam should never follow the path of these kinds of people", he said.

"I have been working in the mosque for the last 25 years and this was a ploy to oust me from the post by a group of people," Rauf said.

India shows where tolerance for the intolerant leads to. Thanks to leftist, Hindu and Buddhists that allowed Islam to remain in the country it lead to the creation of two terrorist cancer tumors on India, which are Pakistan and Bangladesh.

This scumbag should be treated as a traitor and executed-but that'll never happen because that would make us equivalent to our enemies-the stupid logic of the cowards and appeasers.

The only solution for vermin/pests is eradication, the same goes for evil ideologies that destroy nations.

Well, it seems that the congregation and others thought Kasab was a bad egg; and that Abdul Rauf had to cover his tracks over mentioning him in prayers for the dead. At least a few Muslims, apparently, aren't screaming that Kasab was a "martyr".

Frankly, I do not know much about Islamic funerals, mourning rituals, and memorializing the dead.

However, many a Christian cleric, whether Roman, Phanariot, Protestant, or non-Chalcedonian, has had to handle the funerals of those executed for various crimes. It is a tradition in Christianity to call on a condemned criminal to repent of his crimes and seek God's forgiveness before he is executed, and it is a courtesy to the family to handle an executed criminal's funeral if requested.

When Jesus was on the cross, one of the criminals crucified with him rebuked his companion, who mocked Jesus as unable to save himself, and asked Jesus to remember him "when thou comest into thy kingdom". To him, Jesus replied that he would be in Paradise that day (Luke 23). True, to us repentance is powerful stuff, even the work of a gracious God on the human soul. Perhaps this is why we leave the final disposition of someone's soul to God our judge.

And, there are good theological/biblical reasons for the British and American judges of old telling a condemned criminal "May God have mercy on your soul" when passing sentence. Any Christian knows that all of us are poised at the brink of everlasting Hellfire; and it took the blood of Jesus Christ (God Incarnate)--not a few paltry good works, not even our own deaths--to save us from going into it.

And, I know from my time in the Far East, that many a person executed for heinous crimes is given a Buddhist funeral, in both Theravada and Mahayana traditions.

Given the recent history of Islam and terrorism, the fact that some Jami in India is bothered about mention of the Mumbai terrorist in prayers at least says something hopeful about their attitude. As for what Abdul Rauf actually meant, I'm in no position to judge. I only know that Kasab passed into the presence of the Judge of all the Earth after desecrating the image of God many times over.

This is a reply to Fitna. As you are blaming the presence of Islam in India on the leftist, Hindus and Buddhists you might be made aware that Buddhism preceded Islam in India by several thousand years. By the time the Muslim Invasion of India began, the Buddhists way out shadowed by the Hindu majority. Today Buddhists ake up around five percent of the population though it sees to be growing. Why not blame the Christian population as well for allowing Islam to remain in the country, after all the Christian population is larger then the Buddhist presence. And what do you suggest? We mass murder all the people who call themselves Muslms? Would we be then any better? I live in India many years though I am neither by blood nor religion Indian. I am a white American. I admire the Hindus and Buddhist for their tolerance. Jews were never persecuted in India. They were murdered by the millions in the Christian west however. Nor were their synagogues defaced. Under Akhbar the Great, the most famous of Muslim Emperors there was religious freedom for all and for centuries Hindues and Muslims even worshipped together.

Well, apparently there's something... ...at the Jama'at mosque. They must be doing something right:
