Merry Christmas: Insulting Islam by professing Christianity

Nativity Ikon.jpg

The Byzantine icon above is the work of the 16th-century iconographer Theophanes the Cretan. Many Muslims around the world today would consider it offensive and insulting to Islam. Muslims in the Balkans just a few years ago have entered churches and destroyed icons like this one for precisely that reason.

How does this icon insult Islam? In many ways, including these:

1. It depicts human beings, which violates the traditional Islamic prohibition of images and would be considered idolatrous and blasphemous on its face.

2. It depicts Jesus not as a Muslim prophet, as this does:

Muslim Jesus.jpg

Instead, it depicts Jesus in the traditional Christian manner, as the incarnate Son of God: his halo reads ο ων, the One Who Is, a title of divinity derived from the name of God that God gives to Moses in Exodus 3:14), in violation of the oft-repeated Qur'anic injunction that Allah has no Son (4:171; 9:30; 25:2; 39:4; 72:3; etc. etc.).

3. In line with #2, it depicts what Muslims would consider to be idolatry, as the holy child's mother kneels and adores him.

4. In the beam or spear coming from heaven down to the child in the cradle, it depicts the activity of the Divine in the world, assuming the doctrine of the Trinity, which is rejected somewhat imprecisely in Qur'an 4:171 and 5:116.

5. The cradle resembles a casket, foreshadowing the core and heart of Christianity, the redemptive death of Christ, which is denied in Qur'an 4:157.

Now, whether you are a Christian or not, and whether or not you believe all or any of these things, the question that is before us with this Christmas, as every Christmas these days, is whether or not people should be allowed to believe these things freely, without being brutalized or discriminated against, if they live in Iraq, or Egypt, or Pakistan, or Nigeria, or Indonesia -- and whether free people of all creeds and perspectives should defend their right to do so.

In those countries, Christians today are being kidnapped, imprisoned, wrongly arrested, beaten, and murdered -- not because of anything they have done, but because they have dared to believe some of the things I have adumbrated above, beliefs that are considered blasphemous in authoritative Islam. And it is hardly better elsewhere in the Islamic world: nowhere in majority-Muslim countries today do people who believe these things enjoy full equality of rights with Muslims.

We see this at Jihad Watch every day. We see jihadists attacking Christians with increasing fury. We also see the world largely yawning and indifferent as all this goes on. Christianity is a large and multifaceted thing, with so many different and various manifestations, but in the mind of the opinion makers of the West it is Western, white, suburban, wealthy, comfortable, oppressive, and oppressing. Christians are, in the little dramas that play out in mainstream media stories every day, a bit cracked, a bit sinister, a bit dangerous, a bit grasping, and sometimes fanatically jingoistic and xenophobic. They are never victims. Muslims, by contrast, are in the daily mainstream media playlets always cast as non-Western, nonwhite, poor, and oppressed, but wise and serene in their victimization.

And so when it comes to the specter of non-Western, nonwhite Christians being persecuted by Muslims, the mainstream media's circuitry explodes. They can't handle it. They have no paradigm for doing so. It violates every rule in their playbook. So they either ignore it or mask the identity and/or motives of the perpetrators, and try to cast the focus elsewhere.

And so remember this Christmas: if you are a free human being, whether or not you are Christian, those Christians who are being persecuted in Iraq, and the Philippines, and Nigeria, and Egypt, and Pakistan, and elsewhere in the Islamic world, are standing in your place. The jihadis would just as soon attack you as well, and will eventually if they get the chance. Remember that the Islamic supremacist program has you on its list. You may not be a Christian. You may not be a Jew. You may not be a Hindu. You may not be a Buddhist. You may not wish to pay attention to the jihad at all. But the jihad is universal, and relentless. And you are on its list.

So this Christmas, may all of us whose conversion, subjugation, or death is envisioned by the adherents of Sharia stand together. Let us stand together as Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, secularists, what have you, and stand up against those who would kill us or subject us to institutionalized discrimination because they find our beliefs offensive.

For be assured: if we do not stand together, they will prevail. And if they prevail, then all the richest manifestations of the unfettered human spirit, from Theophanes the Cretan above to the fashioners of the Buddhas of Bamiyan, from the Hagia Sophia to the temple of mausoleums of Timbuktu, from the works of Socrates and Aristotle to those of Moses Maimonides and Dante Alighieri and Winston Churchill and Oriana Fallaci, will be trampled into the mud, destroyed, exploded, ruined, effaced. We will all be the poorer. Our children will be the poorer.

It is time to fight for our life.

Merry Christmas to all Christian Jihad Watchers who celebrate the Feast tonight and tomorrow morning.

i am free as an American citizen and free, thanks to the blood of Christ Jesus, to love the righteous God,and to wish Merry Christmas and a God-blessed New Year to all.

and continued blessings to Robert and JW'ers

fear not the Allah god (unknowable; as imgined) for it cannot destroy both soul and body in hell.

consider the impoverished adherants of SHARIA (a different logos) which only enslaves them, stunts their growth, diminishes their dignity ... especially as they follow the lately contrived messenger, Muhammad, who bears no hopeful word, only fear and loathing.

consider these with compassion at their being so mislead by a lie. a lie that should not be allowed to exist.

A brilliant and moving post, Robert.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and to all the posters and Jihad Watchers everywhere. May we all celebrate many more.

Thank you Robert for reminding us of what our future would be. We have so much and they not only have so little but they don't want us to have even what we do have - things like peace, contentment, joy, happiness and an attitude focused on the future.

Merry Christmas everyone. May you have a good and safe holiday.

Merry Christmas Robert, and all JWers.

As an atheist, I still wish you all a Merry Christmas.

And think on this at this time:

Muslims have no equivalent to Christmas. For the message of Christmas is one that offends them not only because of the entire Jesus story, but also for the overall message: "Goodwill to all Mankind" and good deeds to anyone -- all in the Christmas spirit.

Muslims only wish goodwill to other Muslims on their holidays and charity only for Muslims. And even then, it is usually only if they have the same take on Islam (Shi'ite vs. Sunni attacks are the norm in Islam on holidays). That is a profound and deep difference between Christianity and the Death Cult of the Moon God.

Rejoice! Christ the Savior is Born!

and Merry Christmas 2 All! :)

Good message, Robert. Merry Christmas to you and all Jihad Watchers.

To our brothers in Egypt, Merry Christmas, and may God be with you and may put His words in your mouth. Please, keep you soul and be stead fast and do not deny Him in you last hour, for your reward great in heaven.

"The ages have exulted in the manners of a youth who owed nothing to fortune, and who was hanged at the Tyburn of his nation, who, by the pure quality of his nature shed an epic splendor around the facts of his death which has transfigued every particular into an universal symbol for the eyes of mankind. This great defeat is hitherto our highest fact."

- The American Philosophical Superman EMERSON

I claim no religion, but I am overwhelmed by the example of Jesus Christ. The gentleness and forgiveness, the LOVE!! Completely overwhelming to know men and women like that have walked the earth... makes me wonder at my own potential to become a peaceful warrior.

I also recognize, profoundly in fact, the debt I owe for the good fortune at being born and raised in this Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian environment, where I was allowed to freely think & imagine, compare, weigh, and analyze.

I am free, and my children are free, and I'm learning more and more everyday to live by that man's example... forgive, and live to serve the power of love!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

Zorionak! (Merry Christmas!) to all!

It is indeed distressing to see the double standard employed in Europe and the United States regarding the treatment of Islam and all other religions, particuarly Christianity.

I know that music and musical instruments are "haram" in Islam; this alone is enough to stamp it as a false religion in my estimation.

Here are a few Christmas and other music from the Basque Country. The first one, "Hator Hator" (Come Home, Come Home) is sung by a Basque opera singer, Ainhoa Arteta, and it is beautiful!

Looks like syrian christians have started already in the right direction;

'Baghdad Christians attend mass, at attacked church'
AFP - Behind blast walls and with police nearby, 200 worshippers attended Christmas mass Monday at Baghdad's Our Lady of Salvation Church, which officially reopened this month after a massacre in 2010.

Sat in wooden pews with a two-metre (six-feet) high inflatable Santa Claus and a Christmas tree placed at the back, many cradled young children as a sermon was delivered with other youths playing in the church's courtyard.

Atop the church stood two Iraqi security forces members with rifles, while people who wanted to go inside were frisked at the entrance to the church compound, surrounded by four-metre (12-feet) tall blast walls and concertina wire.

"This is our first Christmas at this church since the attack," said 40-year-old Nasrat, one of the worshippers. "We are feeling very happy about the reopening of the church."

"Despite the painful attack, the church now looks even more beautiful than before."

Nasrat, who only gave his first name, was referring to an attack on October 31, 2010, when militants stormed the church and killed 44 worshippers, two priests, and seven security force personnel.

Ooops!

that was on Iraqi christians.

Now on to Syrian christians;

Syrian Christians 'pray for peace'

Syrians attend early Christmas eve mass, at the Mar Elias (St. Elijah) Christian Orthodox church in Bab Tuma, a predominantly Christian quarter of Damascus, on December 24, 2012. On other years, majority Christian areas in central Damascus were heavily decorated for the festive season. This year, only one Nativity crib is on display in the city.

With ongoing fighting between Syrian government troops and rebel forces in areas of the Syrian capital, Christians in this diocese are attending church early.

AFP - In the heart of Damascus, more than 1,000 people attended Christmas mass on Monday, praying for peace to return to Syria, after almost two years of bloodshed.

"I pray that peace and safety returns to the hearts of all Syrians," said Heba Shawi, 24, a Catholic attending mass at Notre Dame church in the Damascus district of Qusur.

"I hope the smiles come back to children's faces."

On other years, majority Christian areas in central Damascus were heavily decorated for the festive season. This year, only one Nativity crib is on display in the city.

Though Christmas mass is usually held at midnight, the absence of security in Damascus, especially at night, prompted organisers to hold this year's service at 6:00 pm.

But despite the violence raging just kilometres (miles) away, the faithful arrived at the church on time. In fact, the church was so full that some had to stand.

Christians of all ages, most of them dressed in black, stood among their families as they prayed.

Zimbabweans brace for bleak holidays

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabweans are facing bleak holidays this year amid rising poverty, food and cash shortages and political uncertainty, with some describing it as the worst since the formation of the coalition government in the southern African nation.

President Robert Mugabe, in a four-year-old coalition with former opposition leader Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, announced an extra public holiday Monday which has created chaos for holiday shoppers and travelers. Banks have closed, ATMs have run out of cash and transport services have been paralyzed.

------------------------------------------

Zimbabwe's unemployment is pegged at around 80 percent with many people in Harare, the capital, eking out a living by selling vegetables and fruits on street corners.

Merry Christmas, Lookmann!

Thank you for your posts about Christmas in Iraq and Syria. It is always amazing to me how strong a benignant faith can be.

And thank you for the link to the other thread, which is one I might not have checked back on—I replied to you there.

Merry Christmas to all Jihad Watchers and a very special thank you to Robert for his heroic work.

Insulting Islam by reading the Quran!

From Paul's letter to the Corinthians

1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Merry Christmas

Thanks traeh, for reminding us that Paul was as wise as Plato (and perhaps had more than Plato could have dreamed).

Thanks gravenimage for your Christmas well wishes.

And Merry Christmas champ, my friend for so long!

It is sad, very very sad that most Muslims will never hear the true story of Jesus Christ, much less understand it.

So if I were to wish all Muslims a Merry Christmas that would anger and insult them. Clearly the United States government doesn't understand the story of Christ either or they wouldn't forbid the nativity and the story on public property. Much less allow Islam special rights above those of Christians, Jews, and other non-Islamic beliefs..

None the less I sincerely wish all of mankind a Merry Christmas... If that insults you, I suggest you learn the story..... Which tells of a love beyond all understanding....

Seconding that.

And a very happy Christmas to you also, Gravenimage. Your list of 'regulars' is pretty much the same as mine, so my greetings to everyone there. I would add 'Davegreybeard'. And Arjay. And, like you, I'm sure others will come to mind.

I've been away from the internet most of today, because here in Australia it is currently 9.10 pm on Christmas Day; I've been to Midnight Mass (my husband sang in the choir) and to the 8 am Christmas Day service (one daughter, alto, one daughter, soprano, and my husband, tenor, sang a lovely carol together as a Meditation, during the Communion); and I've enjoyed a nice Christmas lunch at home, and afternoon tea with family visiting, and a walk in the park with our dog at 5 pm. And practically everything we've done - including the cocktails my elder daughter made for us - was HARAM! HARAM! HARAM! And now, finally, I sit down at the computer desk.

Merry Christmas to all here for whom Christmas is just getting underway; and I hope all my fellow Aussies, New Zealanders and others have had a lovely, lovely day.

One of my favourite modern carols:- 'Mary did you know?'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB-_kM5-XHU&feature=related

And since it is evening here in Australia, evening on Christmas Day, and for most of you - in Europe, in the Americas - it is evening on Christmas Eve, here is Rachmaninov's setting of the most ancient Christian hymn on record, outside of the New Testament, a hymn written to be sung at the time of lighting of lamps.

Phos hilaron - 'O joyful Light'.

(The one who is addressed as 'joyful light' - and in a lovely modern paraphrase of the hymn, as 'O Laughing Light" - is the Lord Jesus).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6WC3kvW8TA&feature=relmfu

English translation of text:

'O gladsome light of the holy glory of the Immortal Father, heavenly, holy, Blessed Jesus Christ, having come to the setting of the sun and beheld the light of evening, we glorify the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, God, at all times, Thou art worthy, of praise in songs, therefore, the world glorifies Thee.'

May that holy and unconquerable light - of the Incarnate, the Crucified, the Resurrected and Glorified Jesus of Nazareth, Son of Mary, Son of the Living God - shine most brightly upon my brothers and sisters who are suffering inside the deep darkness of the empire of Islam; and indeed, may His light, even if not known or recognised, shine upon *all* non-Muslims who are oppressed by that darkness, and open up for them miraculous doorways of relief and deliverance. And may it even penetrate into the darkness that blinds the Muslims, and dissolve the chains with which they are bound and with which they bind themselves.

Merry Christmas to one & all here in JihadWatch!

HEAR IT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH

Dear Jihad Watchers,

I am a proud African but regret that I can't find the kind of expression or a most appropriate adjective to qualify the greatness of all members and contributors to Jihad Watch.

In the side of Mr. Robert Spencer, I am very sure that not all members as well as Islamic monitors of this Website, (...including Main steam media traitors and collaborators), know how special and divine the man is. (A God send)

The man is my Hero and the Hero of millions of people, all over the World, who have died that are currently suffocating under the shroud called Islam . (Mona Eltahawy, take note). As an African, I know what I am saying, because I am inside of the swamp. After-all, he who is wearing the shoe, knows where it is hurting.

Why I say that all members here are great people is because majority of them have never visited ,or even lived in an Islamic decaying countries, or Africa in general. Yet, I see pain and passion in there reactions against abundant tricks and threats contained in the spread of blood thirsty cult called - Islam.

By this, I mean the kind of pain and reaction that the generality of massive but over-powered-freedom denied-Africans, either do not feel. Or, feel but are just too afraid to voice out. In any case, I hardly can blame my people. Because the fact is that anyone who decides to give it a try would not just be called an Islamophobe, as is the reckless case in the West, but will be killed before his or her well-intended complain, or advice about Islam to the nearest Muslim is framed into words.

You are all bloodlessly, fighting our/my Fight. And all I can say for now, at-least, before I get consumed by the Crocodile Ideology - know to me as "Islamodile" which like tinea corporis, continues to gain ground around my skin, my life and the future of Humanity, is a big THANK YOU - to you all.

You are all intelligent people, who even as you continue to feed the crocodile, through your governmental support of Islamic Sharia and Islamist governments in this Continent - don't want the crocodile to eat you last.

Thank you again for your struggle, because by that, you are unknowingly, prolonging our lives here. Yes. here in this black but, great African den of "Islamodile". God have mercy! What a retarded and perilous Ideology!

For all Political Leaders in the West, who have continued to promote Islam or who have refused to call a spade a spade, - by accepting their grand parents shot-sightedness of Islam; Yes. They did not know anything about Islam, because Islam is secretive in nature and at that time there were many factors that debared them from knowing Islam- above all was the meanse of communication. So, they are excused. But, for you today, what is the reason for your ignorance? - maybe avarice.

Well, you continue to engage in attacking Divine workers like Mr. Spencer, Pamela Geller (Worrior-ress), The 'Truthful film makers' and the rest. Don't worry, you will soon be covered and subdued in the desert dust of your irrational choice.

For those, who have have chosen the part of foot soldiers for escapees like my brothers Reza Aslan,(the poet); who escaped Islamic totalitarianism and are now enjoying safety at the bosom of the mother of Freedom -USA, but are ashamed to admit that there is greater Evil in Islam, just for the mere fear of losing the annals of their blotted religious/cultural identity, I have no doubt that the God of Christ and the Giver of Christmas and Freedom, will very soon come to demand jizya from you.

The real God is not a deaf and dumb god that only hears its name better, when shouted from a minaret.
By the way, I send my gratitude to the spirit of Obam-sama bin Laden. (...I don't hate Muslims, not even the worst or the highest politically positioned of all); who let out the cat from the Qur'anic bag, without whom, many Watchers in the World today, wouldn't have been 'born'

"The truth is that the West is so naive in nature that most Africans believe they - the Africans, are more intelligent"

(...please, let me not rant here and waste your ample time. Although, I can't rant enough based on what I KNOW).

But, for all of you of Europe descent, United State of America, and the Latinos (...Latinos, who have found it impossible to make-up their minds as to who to follow, having voted for Islam during the past US election), please, hear it from - he who KNOWS better -

"Your being ignorant or by your feigning ignorance about Islam, is not a genuine excuse for your self-destruction".

Thank you for reading.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS! TO ALL INTERNALLY FREE PEOPLE!

GOD bless you all!

Merry Christmas, friend. The light that enlightens every man coming into the world should give you at least some joy this season.

But a lot of us feel humbled by your message to us. Those of us who are Christians remember you in our prayers, even if there is little more that we can do for you and your brave, long-suffering continent.

Merry Christmas to all. I put up my own thoughts at unclecephas.blogspot.com.

While I'm here, thank you, Robert, for your tireless educational work. May the coming year bring you more and more success.

Seagllow12, I hear your challenge to us.

Our politicians are short-sighted about Islam because they, like most people of my generation (I am now a grandfather) were mis-educated to believe that traditional theisms don't matter; that our scientific age would do away with the need for God; that we would be happier, healthier, and more free without God looking over our shoulders. Hence, the Carter administration was caught with its pants down when Ayatollah Khomeini did his end run around the Tudeh and other pro-Soviet elements who, we were so sure, would be the inheritors of a post-Pahlavi Iran. Now, a generation later, our wise-in-their-own-conceits leaders are still scrambling as they try to figure out what's going on.

Well, now a generation of Western leaders for whom it was de rigeur to blaspheme the Christian God in order to appear "sophisticated" or even, if young, "cool", are now being taught not to blaspheme by the "Islamodile", as you call it.

marry Christmas and happy holidays to Christians all readers in JW and to all Christian all over …

I hope you keep safe … times are not safe for you thses days in Islamic world … but then again ,
who is !

Merry Christmans to you and yours Mr. Spencer. Thank you so much for indfatigably shining the light of truth on violence, oppression, shame, misogyny, hate, fear, and loathing that Islam is.On this day we are united in our actions, dreams and hopes for the world. Truth, freedom, peace and love we carry among each other as well as in our hearts. Christians or not, we stand by you to help bring free people together.

Thank you, LemonLime! ...and *Merry Christmas* to you as well, dear friend :)

Merry Christmas, dear DDA! (I know it is now Boxing Day in Australia—it is just after noon on Christmas Day here California).

Thank you for the link to the lovely and haunting "Mary Did You Know" sung by Bethany Haberer.

Here is a somber but hauntingly beautiful noel—the Coventry Carol, sung by the Westminster Choir:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIvH5GdY4JE

It is a mothers' lullabye and lament for their threatened infants following Herod's order for the massacre of the innocents and the holy family's flight into Egypt.

Not only is this piece very moving, but I feel it is sadly apt in a year—yet another year—where so many Christians are celebrating Christmas under the threat of terrible Muslim violence. Indeed, almost every other story this Christmas day is of Christians threatened or murdered in Dar-al-Islam.

Now, whether you are a Christian or not, and whether or not you believe all or any of these things, the question that is before us with this Christmas, as every Christmas these days, is whether or not people should be allowed to believe these things freely, without being brutalized or discriminated against...

There is, in this regard, one belief, however, whose freedom should not be allowed: The belief that it is good to violently restrict the freedoms of others to believe what they want to believe.

This in turn puts me in mind of a curious (but, alas, all too common) pretzel-paradox engendered by the PC MC notion of tolerance, which I explored on my blog in an essay titled The Pretzel Logic of PC MC -- namely, that according to this logic, we must be tolerant of everything, except of being intolerant of intolerance, as long as that intolerance is part of the "diversity" (defined by PC MC) that needs to be tolerated; and so, PC MC is intolerant of intolerance that is intolerant of intolerance, while we are intolerant of the kind of tolerance that tolerates intolerance.

If that isn't as clear as mud, here is a quote from my essay that attempts to massage and unpack that nonsense created by the impaired mind of the PC MC:

In the tortured logic of the PC MC mind: (Our) tolerance of (Islamic) intolerance is required; which means that the West may not tolerate an intolerance (1) of intolerance (2) -- where 1 is Western and 2 is Islamic: and at the same time it means that the West must be intolerant (1) of intolerance (2) -- where 1 is Western and 2 represents our fellow Westerners who refuse to tolerate Islamic intolerance.

So, to sum up: according to PC MC, intolerance is okay, as long as it is:

a) Islamic

and

b) Western when we Westerners direct it at ourselves (and our fellow Westerners) if we smell the slightest bit of intolerance against Islamic intolerance.

And by the same token, tolerance is always okay, with the two exceptions implied above:

a) we must not expect tolerance from Muslims if anything resembling intolerance -- as measured by Western values -- is deemed to be part of their culture/religion

and

b) we must not tolerate any Westerners among us who might tolerate the intolerance that will not tolerate the intolerance of Islam.

The logic behind all these pretzel convolutions in PC MC is rooted in the closely intertwined principles of

1) Reverse Racism (where Muslims are perceived to be an Ethnic People or a wonderfully diverse Rainbow of Ethnic Peoples)

and

2) Excessive Self-Criticism of our own West.

Merry Christmas, GI.

And Merry Christmas to all the rest here at JW!

And a special Merry Christmas to Robert Spencer, who lives day in and day out under threat - who keeps toiling on (I don't know how he does it!) in service of the Truth, Freedom and Goodness.

Feliz Navidad. Prospero ano nuevo a todos!

And to my dear children...your father loves you, even though we are miles and miles apart.

seagllow 12

WELCOME! And God bless. Do please visit here regularly as you are able, and share your experiences, and send Mr Spencer links for stories from the Press in Anglophone Africa; I find that the local press there, online, often contains details that the international press agencies leave out.

I pray most fervently for my brothers and sisters in Africa. There are South Sudanese Christians worshipping in my own home church; we *know* what they have been through, they have all had family members killed in jihad raids. And just this year, a northern Nigerian Anglican Archbishop visited Australia and spoke at many gatherings, describing the ferocious Islamic persecution that is assailing his flock - *he himself* is lucky to be alive, and his wife also, after both being physically attacked by Mohammedthugs, in their own home.

I also support The Barnabas Fund in their work of aid to and advocacy for the Persecuted Church.

This week I will send them the signatures I have gathered among my acquaintance and in my parish church, for the petition the Aussie branch will soon present to Australia's parliament, calling on the Australian government to put more pressure upon those countries - nearly all of them Islamic - that deny freedom of religion/ freedom of conscience and persecute Christians (and, in the case of the Muslim persecutors, not only Christians but any and all other non-Islamic minorities).

More and more of us - both Christians and non-Christians - in the west, are finding out the truth. So don't give up.

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it".

Feliz Navidad, David! I would love to go to Mexico some year for Christmas.

I did make tamales on Christmas eve, which was traditional with many of our neighbors when I was growing up in La Mission District in San Francisco.

I would like to wish a Merry Christmas, as well, to Ebonystone, Lookmann, Annie Oakley, Awake, Islam Machjt Frei, Cranky White Woman, Softly Bob, Lorenzo Pilaf, Domenick, Arjay, Davegreybeard, Blangwort, Joe Blough, Guy Macher, Minoria, Charlie Griffith, Always on Watch, Max Publius, somehistory, pdxnag, Larry A. Singleton, and J not A. (J not A, I know you don't celebrate the holiday, but I hope you have a lovely day)

And welcome to new posters rjgoodwill and Seagllow12.

Seagllow, I pray for you and your fellow African Christians this season, and always. Thank you for your heartfelt post. I will look for your comments in the future.

I realize that even with these additions, I have no doubt still missed some people. A Merry Christmas to you all!
