Yeah, sold off the headshop for a song to some rube hoping to score bigtime with a line of koranic rolling papers. Script Arabic watermarks are supposed to be authentic scripture, and he went accross the street to the mosque to verify this, leaving me with the deposit money. Boy, is he a fool.

Of course, I'm the one standing naked and homeless on the sidewalk in December with a towel on my head. Go figure.

A 'critic' of literature or whatever he's an 'expert' in, will create their own self deception scenario whereby they annoint, and make beautiful something others clearly would be horrified with.
That 'dhimmis' through out the 1450 yrs, have tried in vain to 'see' the beauty and call it something other than what Islam's actions have made and will make it, is revolting and and this point... a hideous denial of fact, and pure fiction.

One could read the proclamations of the soviet union that all citizens will be equal, etc etc, and view what that actuality was to see the historical reality rather than the 'beauty' of sentiment.

One could read the proclamations of Mein Kampf and feel passages that might seem to be full of love of the 'people' of germany and the pride and hope... but the monstrous slaughters of history should have removed from a reasonble person's mind any such illusions.

As for Islam....imagine a crowd of jews burning someone alive for disrespecting the Torah. Never happened and never will. Imagine a Christian, burning alive someone for disrespecting the New Testament. and yes they did, once upon a time.... but that same religion hasn't and doesn't do anything like that, and would in it's entirety, in horror defend others rights to live even if against it's principles. Same with Buddhists, Hindus.
But Islam, now, as then, grows with it's fangs as the leading edge, because for Mohammad, the fangs, the Jihad of Death to all who refuse to submit was and is the clarion call and the prime motive for Islam.

For a 'critic' to find lovely beautiful passages demonstrates the disconnection of beauty from reality. Ever read or hear a pedophile or molester speak of the 'beauty' they behold and their claims to such as equal to others 'love'... well that's what this reviewer did in his piece.

He ignored all the evidence- not cherry picked outrages- but the run of the mill, majority events and actions evidenced by that book and that
prophet with no prophecy- except submission for all as his goal.

There's a fancy phrase for that reviewer, for his exclamations about the Koran being one of the loveliest books ever written- it having caused 20,000 plus Jihad attacks with slaughters of innumerable innocents- beheadins, rapings, slaughter of children, women, on and on and on with the call to heavenly reward for slaughtering unbelievers, just since 9/11. And of course it's 270 plus millions murdered over the 1400 yrs.

Michael Potemra of National Review, should be told bluntly and pointedly that his statement that the Koran is one of the 'loveliest books ever written' just this:

Ladislas Farago wrote a book called Palestine at the Crossroads about Palestine in the 30s. One of the many anecdotes he tells is about a imam who damaged Korans showed the damaged Korans to his people and then accused the British of having damaged them.

That's right. Accusing someone of "blaspehmy" has become a lovely way of seizing someone's business, property, or even their marriageab le daughters...

Try not to be so ethnocentric. Be more like Michael Potemra of National Review, who wrote: "The Koran is one of the loveliest books ever written, a distillation of monotheism that is full of spiritual wisdom, and I never fail to profit from my reading of it." It's understandable that the pious would want to incinerate anyone even suspected of desecrating one of the loveliest books ever written, now, isn't it?

Yeah, what crap. Not only is the Qur'an a hideous book—violent, repetitive, irrational—but it would hardly matter in this case if it really were "lovely".

I love the poetry of Emily Dickinson—but It wouldn't occur to me to burn someone to death who had a difference of opinion on the matter.

But then, that's the whole point, isn't it? If the Qur'an really were lovely and wise, it is unlikely that Muslims would feel compelled to murder people in its name.
