Sunni-Shi’ite jihad comes to Australia: Shootings, extortions, and threats in Sydney

“But we have to stand up to these guys or else they will take over completely.” Indeed so.

“Sydney’s violent wild, wild west,” by Mark Morri for The Daily Telegraph, December 7 (thanks to James):

SHOOTINGS, extortion and general violence is so out of control in south-west Sydney that residents and children are seeking medical help for post-traumatic stress disorders.

Gangs from opposing religious sects are also extorting money from restaurants in the area with at least three premises fire-bombed or shot at in the past few weeks.

Gee, Mark, which religious sects? Baptists and Methodists? Calvinists and Arminians?

Police have confirmed they have set up a special taskforce to investigate the shootings.

“There are a number of shooting incidents at restaurants in the Bankstown area we are looking at,” said Detective Superintendent Debbie Wallace, head of the Middle Eastern Crime Squad.

“Victims of these types of crimes are very reluctant to come forward, naturally because of the fear,” Supt Wallace said.

She confirmed that in some cases religion is used by those making the threats.

Zowie, Supt Wallace, which religion? Jainism? Zen Buddhism?

“We need people to come forward and tell us before we can take action.”

Earlier this year police arrested three men on blackmail offences after they allegedly used threats to force the owner of Juicylicious in Bankstown to sell his business well under market the market price.

“If people report threats then we can investigate them and also protect them.”

One group made up of Muslim men contacts restaurant owners and says they “don’t want their type” – a Shia – operating in the area and try to intimidate them into handing over their business.

Ah, finally, in the tenth paragraph, we learn that the Sunni-Shi’ite jihad has come to Australia.

“They then offer to buy the business for a fraction of its worth, when they are turned down they get threatened on the phone. If they continue to resist they find there business targeting in other ways. Like being shot at or fires,” said one business operator.

Dr Jamal Riffi, a general practitioner and one of the most respected Muslim leaders in the area said he was seeing an increasing number of patients who were suffering anxiety from being extorted.

“I have patients who have small businesses who are being intimidated and extorted on a weekly basis,” he said.

“It is the worst I have ever seen it. Some of these men are hiding behind their religion, saying they are Muslims and have a right to do what they are doing. That is wrong. They are criminals threatening people in their own community.”

An angry Dr Riffi, who has a good relationship with police in the area and on the Middle eastern gang squad, said it was time the police hierarchy and politicians did something seriously about the problem.

If these people are criminals hiding behind their Islamic faith, shouldn’t the Muslim community do something about it? Or is it all up to the police hierarchy and politicians?

“Politicians from both sides come out to the south-west, even the local members, eat a bit of homous and tabouli and then leave without addressing the problems.”

His patients at his Belmore practice are his eyes and ears of the community.

“This is the worst I have seen it in this area since I arrived in Australia in 1984. Even when Michael Kannan and his gang were running wild it was different,” he said.

“They knee-capped other gangster and did most of their violence in Kings Cross.”

Now he said young couples are too frightened to open businesses.

“One restaurant opened recently and was doing very well soon after opening. Then a fire destroys the place,” he said.

“No one is saying exactly what happened but all the business people are talking about it as extortion.

“I have patients who tell me it is better to pay, especially at the moment because the festive season is the most profitable and they can’t afford to have any trouble.”

“But we have to stand up to thses [sic] guys or else they will take over completely.”

Oh, yes, they will.

Well what d’ya expect from a ‘religion’ founded by a caravan robber, slave owner, murderer and paedophile?

Rastafarianism… wait, it must be Shintoism!. That or Bronism http://bit.ly/RcZde6

“Ah, finally, in the tenth paragraph, we learn that the Sunni-Shi’ite jihad has come to Australia.”—

How “islamophobic” of The Telegraph, they should totally obfuscate Muslim involvement, they shouldn’t even wait for the 10th paragraph to lay it all out, pffffft…

“Gangs from opposing religious sects are also extorting money from restaurants in the area with at least three premises fire-bombed or shot at in the past few weeks.” That explains the burning of a newly opened restaurant (which I had intended to go to for lunch one day!)
Some people refer to this area as the OT. You figure it out! :)
Also, for a laugh – A new McDonalds opened recently in the South west of Sydney. It doesn’t have a drive-through, it has a drive-by!

    Sunni versus Shia, the movie…
This fracture that leads to violence happens to many religions…Lutheran and Episcopalian conflicts are legendary…I saw some Baptists and Quakers going at it once…Catholics and Satan worshippers have never gotten along…
So don’t blame Allah and Islam because Mahoundians kill each other…Allah in his great wisdom has provided a way out for the pious Sunni or Shia, it is called ‘Inner spiritual struggle jihad’…
No other religion has this…unfortunately it seems that most Mahoundians neglect this directive…You can see the results…Where there is no inner struggle, evil rushes in to fill the void…

I think these are the most clear words describing the whole issue, and unveiling the real mind and attitude of Muslims.

Of course ,when Islam come so does violence. For the Quran does teach in 9:14 “Fight them and Allah will punish them by yout hands, lay low,and cover them with shame. He will help you over them.” Likewise 8:89 also teaches “Fight them until all opposition ends and all sumit to Allah.” In addtion there is 9:112 which reads “The believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and areslain, kill and are killed.”
These are just three of the many verses in the Quran that teach violence. Some religion of peace.

  7. says

“Gangs from opposing religious sects ….”

I was certain it had to be between Buddhists; probably Theravadas vs. Mahayanas. So imagine my surprise when I learned in the 10th paragraph that it was between Moslems. Rival gangs in the Peluigion of Peace! Who’d’a thunk it?

  8. says

Oh come on !! Who would believe such tosh. The followers of The Mighty Mythical Allah would not fight with each other or become engaged in extortion.. Does not the wonderful holy book exhort them to be compassionate to each other and was not their ‘Example for all to follow’ a man of peace, perspicacity, tolerance and benificence ?
You may be sure that this distortion of the truth is another plot by the elders of Zion.

    ………………………

Of course, Muslims are bringing their savagery to Dar-al-Harb”and it is not just their terrible violence against Infidels, but their murderous hatred of each other, as well.

And why not? All over the Muslim world, the “believers” are savagely murdering each other. The most common is majority Sunnis slaughtering Shi’ites, but you also find Shi’ites killing Sunnis, as well as targeting minority Ahmadis, Alawites and other sects with links to Islam, such as the Druze and Baha’i.

All that makes for a great deal of bloodshed. Why should this stop, just because these pious Muslims have relocated to the civilized world? (this is a rhetorical question)

    More:

“But we have to stand up to these guys or else they will take over completely.” Indeed so.

But will they? Or will parts of the civilized world turn into Lebanon or Pakistan? (this is *not* a rhetorical question)

Even when they”reluctantly”admit that religion is a factor, they can’t bring themselves to reveal that the creed in question is Islam.

But then, as noted, one can read between the lines., When’s the last time, after all, that we had a sectarian war between the Seventh Day Adventists and the Unitarians?

But why should we *have* to read between the lines? The news should be clear and forth-right”you shouldn’t have to use a metaphorical “decoder ring” to figure out what the hell is going on.

One group made up of Muslim men contacts restaurant owners and says they “don’t want their type” – a Shia – operating in the area and try to intimidate them into handing over their business.

I wouldn’t say ‘honest citizens’ in this case.

This is one subdivision of the Ummah, or Mohammedan Mob, to wit, the Sunni subdivision, engaging in a Turf War with Shiites, who are the other main subdivision of the Mohammedan Mob.

Think the Crips vs the Bloods.

Think one Mafioso don and his Enforcers muscling in on the turf of another don and *his* followers.

The Shiites are weaker – most Muslims in Australia are Sunnis – so they are copping it from the Sunnis.

If the situation were reversed – if there were more Shiites than Sunnis – it would doubtless be the Shiites threatening and extorting money from the Sunnis, and it would be the Sunnis running to the Infidel cops and crying ‘victim!’ and demanding to be protected from their everlovin Mohammedan bruvvas.

I have no sympathy for *either* side.

  13. says

You quoted the complaining Shiite Muslim who is being attacked by Sunnis:

“This is the worst I have seen it in this area since I arrived in Australia in 1984…”

    and observed:

“That’s because there are a lot more Muslims in Sydney than there were in 1984. Everyone knows they become more violent the greater their numbers.”

    Precisely.

And you will have observed, in the article, that Sydney police have a “Middle eastern gang squad” (strictly speaking, that should be the ‘Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad).

Now the curious thing is this: that although Australia has had Jews in our midst since the days of the First Fleet, and although the first fleeing Lebanese Christians and Armenian Christians arrived in the late 19th century (with more Lebanese Christians, Maronite and Orthodox, arriving after World War One), and although we’ve had a trickle of Egyptian Copts as well, and some Assyrian Christians (from Syria and Iraq: some Catholic [Eastern Rite] and some Orthodox) we didn’t need to create a dedicated ‘Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad’ **until** the 1980s, just after we got the first really big influx of Muslims: Lebanese Muslims. And it has had to be maintained and expanded as the Muslims have kept on coming.

And although there are *some* nominally-Christian Copts and Lebanese Christians who get involved in criminal activity, still, the overwhelming majority – probably 95 percent and upwards – of perps who are apprehended by the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad turn out to be (once they get to trial, and we discover their names) called things like Mohammed, Mohammed, Mohammed, and Mohammed (with the odd Ahmed, Ali, Abdul(lah) and Hassan thrown in). In other words: the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad should really be called ‘the Muslim Organised Crime Squad’…

For those new to this site and this subject, a repetition of retired Aussie cop Tim Priest’s classic Quadrant article about ‘The Rise of Middle Eastern [sic: MUSLIM – dda] Crime in Australia’ appears to me to be in order.

    http://www.australian-news.com.au/Tim_Priest.htm

    QUADRANT Volume XLVIII Number 1 – January-February 2004

Priest describes the – seemingly exponential – rise in crime of all kinds that took place concomitant with a massive influx of Muslims into Australia from the early 1980s onward. Priest, however, himself does not quite see that this is what he is doing; he seems only dimly or at best partially aware that this is overwhelmingly an *ideological* not an *ethnic* problem.
