Texas curriculum: "Allah is the Almighty God"

Arabic-speaking Christians generally use the word "Allah" for the God of the Bible, but this curriculum doesn't seem to be talking about Arabic-speaking Christians: it seems fairly clear that it is trying to portray Islam in a benign and positive light, without any reference to the violent texts and teachings that jihadis and Islamic supremacists point to in order to justify their actions.

What a coincidence that this curriculum would be in use in Texas, where Governor Rick Perry partnered with the Aga Khan Foundation to develop a severely whitewashed, Islam-friendly curriculum. When Pamela Geller and I broke the story of that curriculum in 2011, the reaction was furious: one blogger demanded I stop linking him; another claimed that the curriculum material we had uncovered was not really the curriculum at all, and tried to pass off one teacher's private notes as the real curriculum; and former friends and associates denounced us with a cult-like fervor that I still find hard to believe that a compromised nonentity like Rick Perry could have inspired.

Now, lo and behold, we find that Texas has a severely whitewashed Islam curriculum, just as we said. Today one of the bloggers who was most furiously and frenziedly denouncing us last year for daring to suggest that Perry was opening Texas schools to a biased and whitewashed presentation of Islam posted this WND story without the slightest reference to the Perry controversy, about which he was so spectacularly wrong. That's chutzpah.

"Texas teaching 'Allah is the Almighty God,'" by John Griffing for WND, December 13 (thanks to all who sent this in):

In the 70 percent of Texas public schools where a private curriculum has been installed, students are learning the “fact” that “Allah is the Almighty God,” charge critics of a new online curriculum that already is facing condemnation for its secrecy and restrictions on oversight.

The program, called CSCOPE, is a private venture operating under the umbrella of the Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative, whose incorporation documents state its independence from the State Board of Education of the Texas Education Agency.

Other reports previously have raised alarm over the curriculum’s depiction of the Boston Tea Party as a terrorist act on par with the 9/11 attack.

According to documentation that has leaked out, the program describes the Boston Tea Party this way: “A local militia, believed to be a terrorist organization, attacked the property of private citizens today at our nation’s busiest port. Although no one was injured in the attack, a large quantity of merchandise, considered to be valuable to its owners and loathsome to the perpetrators, was destroyed. The terrorists, dressed in disguise and apparently intoxicated, were able to escape into the night with the help of local citizens who harbor these fugitives and conceal their identities from the authorities. It is believed that the terrorist attack was a response to the policies enacted by the occupying country’s government. Even stronger policies are anticipated by the local citizens.”

There also have been reports that the curriculum – contrary to recent Supreme Court rulings – says the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the right to bear arms, is limited to state-run organizations.

“The collective right’s advocates believed that the Second Amendment did not apply to individuals; rather it recognized the right of a state to arm its militia. It recognized limited individual rights only when it was exercised by members of a functioning, organized militia while actively participating in the militia’s activities.”

Now come concerns about what critics describe as a definitively pro-Islam bias.

The critics say the studies border on proselytizing.

In one scenario, students are asked to study the tenets of Islam, and critics say the materials provided exceed impartial review of another faith, extending into requirements of conversion and moral imperatives.

A computer presentation utilized as part of a study of Islam includes information on how to convert, as well as verses denigrating other faiths.

According to excerpts, under the heading, “Who Is Allah?,” students are told:

“Allah is the Almighty God.”

“Allah alone is the Creator. He alone deserves our devout love and worship.”

Muhammad is described as having become “disillusioned with the corruption in the city and the growing gap between the urban dwellers and the Bedouins (nomadic herders).”

But there is no mention of his documented sex activities with a child or his penchant for beheading entire indigenous people groups....

What utter rubbish the Texas education dept allows. Allah is NOT GOD. God is Holy righteous just and loving. Allah is Satan. He has been a liar murderer thief from the beginning, and Mohammed was a demon possessed pseudoprophet of Satan.

It saddens me that Arab Christians have been fooled into using the word 'Allah' to mean God. Allah is not God. Allah is Mohammed's counterfeit Babylonian god, a deceiver, a false god and very possibly Satan himself, if not then one of his personal demons. Allah is also the pagan Moon god.
One day, Heads will roll for this deceit.

if allah is almighty god, then almighty god may have been struck with senile dementia - probably right at the same time as he met muhammad. Immediately he seemed to have had trouble remembering what he wrote in his previous books, or even in the previous week - a typical symptom of alzheimer. His very personality showed dramatic change, and his dictations to his last prophet suggest he had developed a severe psychopathic personality disorder. This are very bad news, very sad, but if this 'allah is the almighty god' theory proves correct, we may have to do without almighty god from now on. Perhaps we just stick with jesus.

"...former friends and associates denounced us with a cult-like fervor that I still find hard to believe that a compromised nonentity like Rick Perry could have inspired."

It's what could be called the "Bush Phenomenon" -- i.e., there remain many conservatives (probably the majority) who doggedly defend a conservative politician or pundit past the point of rationality: even when that conservative politician or pundit starts saying or doing Islamo-friendly things, these conservative defenders think only "liberals" would dare be anti-Bush, or anti-Glenn Beck, or anti-Bill O'Reilly, etc.

And it is because these conservative defenders put the problem of Islam way down on their priorities (if they even mention it at all -- the Tea Party doesn't even mention Islam in its platform).

This sort of thing is why I, a high school social studies teacher, introduce myself as a professional swindler of the young and their families. I am ashamed to admit that I once held hopes of Perry's knocking the O out of the ring.

Unfortunately most /all politicians must prostitute themselves to the world In order to get elected which makes them whores to the public.

Many whores are not cheap though. Have you seen how much some of these politicians earn?

So how's that "Democrat party" shtick workin' for ya, Robert?

Only liberals have 'shticks'...The rest of the population has brains...and, some of them actually use them...Liberals think with their shticks, conservatives set their sights a little higher...

Allah is the moon god Sin of Ur of the Chaldee given a name change and promotion to ultimate by Mahound...Whatever happened to al-Rahman?

Please note, only your boss can give you a promotion...

AS IF the leftist Democrat multie-cultie cult promoting Islam here in the US were not enough, here comes a low-brow, severely unintelligent conservative Texas Christian Rick Perry who was easily fooled and manipulated by Islamists Grover Norquist and Aga Khan, who turned him into their tool. Worse yet, even more dim-witted regular conservative Christian Texas citizens had elected him their governor, for no other reason than his publically praying his Lord Jesus Christ. All too many of those ignoramuses think themselves smarter than Jefferson, and riot against the separation of religion and state, charging that it somehow "persecutes their Christian faith". Riot against the First Amendment, by far the most precious part of our US Constitution. If everything else in the Constitution were to be abolished, we should keep that amendment. And then they end up with "Allah is the Almighty God" being injected into the minds of their children at school. The way those conservative Christians are manipulable by the Muslims is HOR ... RENDOUS.
I got a very bad feeling during that fateful, our national destiny-changing election 2008 when the Republican primary voters had suddenly applied that bizarre, Taliban-style religion test to the presidential candidates, loudly demanding they prove to them their conservative Christian credentials. I put all my hopes in Rudy Giuliani, an extraordinarily capable man of courage. I contributed to his campaign beyond my means. BUT WITH THIS CHRISTIAN TALIBAN RELIGION TEST I REALIZED OUR COUNTRY'S GREATEST CHANCE IS KAPUTT. HOW could Rudy, a not-very-devout, secular Roman Catholic compete in religion with Rev. Holy Bee (former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee, an ordained Baptist Minister)? Rudy had immediatelly cut overall crime in New York City by two-thirds, and homicides by four-fifths. And Holy Bee had pardoned twice as many criminals in his state as his 4 predecessors combined! Some of those went on to kidnap, rape, torture, mutilate and murder.
None of that mattered to the conservative Christian Republican voters. The only thing that did was prayer, prayer, prayer. I don't think any conservative Christian Auto Shop owner would hire anyone who does not know about cars as a mechanic just for praying real hard. And yet, they thought nothing about hiring someone as the Commander-in-Chief for just that. As a result, Rudy was out after just 10 days, and Holy Bee went on competing for the rest of the primaries, before finally losing to Insane McCain who had re-made himself as a "conservative Christian". The Insane McCain who had spent much of his bizarre so-called "campaign" praising ... Bill Clinton. The Insane McCain who gushed that he "admires the Islam" (sic).
I could not bring myself to vote for either him or Obama, so I wrote in 2 men of courage, Rudy and Paul Sperry. But WHAT could I do all by myself?!
I have a feeling, however, that there are more folks out there who are frustrated with both parties with their endless wrestling over school prayer, abortion and gay marriage, losing sight of more important things, and want an alternative to both. That's why I propose the creation of the third party, the Center Party that will cut through both existing parties BS and appeal to that sensible middle of the American people. The Center Party modeled after hero Geert Wilders' glorious Dutch Freedom Party. A party in which courageous people such as Rudy, Paul Sperry, Sibel Edmonds, Allen West, and, of course, Robert, Pamela Geller, Nonnie Darwish Julia Gorin and others will feel at home.

Wait a minute, Atheist student, Jessica Ahlquist, gets Lord's prayer banner removed from wall of school because freedom of religion but separation of church and state...

But in Texas, you are FORCED to learn Islam?

Huh, guess Texans think the constitution doesnt apply to them.

As a Canadian, I really have no right to express an opinion about American politics, but I will anyway.

Enraged, I agree with you. I think there is far too much emphasis on religion, abortion and gay rights in American political wrangling. I'm not sure why we aren't as passionate about these issues in Canada, but I'm glad we aren't.

Abortion and gay marriage are legal here, we care little about a politician's religious faith, or lack of it, yet we're not a country of godless, heathen sinners. Our politics are less vitriolic, but also less exciting. The latest case of suspected "voter fraud" in Canada involves nine suspicious phone calls which allegedly directed several people to non-existent polling stations. The horror.

Compared to the results of a US election, Canada's elections make little difference to the world. American election results have a huge global influence. Canadian politics are usually pretty boring, while US politics are full of dramatic sex, treachery and corruption. I'm not saying our politics are better, just very, very different.

The only reason that some Arab Christians generally use the word Allah for God is because back in time truth comproming Bible "translaters" did something that was not right. They substitued the word Allah were the word God should have been used in the Arabic traslation of the Bible.
Also, just wondering if any of the readers of jihadwatch.org ever heard of the book WHO IS THIS ALLAH? by G.J.O. Moshay ?

Readers should note this is not being done by the State of Texas. It is sponsored by CSCOPE a private corporation that claims exemption from school laws. CSCOPE is being funded by 19 of the 20 local Texas school districts (so the problem is at the district level, even deeper, than being reported). Its purpose is to bypass the Texas State Education Departments Review of textbooks by not having any textbooks. Everything will be done on-line from computers based in schools. Nothing will go home with students and private computers cannot access their network. Only the Schools Administrators and teachers have access to the curriculum. Parents, the Press and everyone else is not permitted to review their material. Texans need to begin attending their school board meetings and demanding review (whether you have a child there or not). If no satisfactory answers are given, then recall school board members and/or run yourself and start to de-funding them.

You also need to notice that CSCOPE intends to start going national in 2014.

I tried to leave the following comment on WND, but keep getting an error message and the comment fails to post:

John Griffing: Where is your apology to Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, who last year pointed out, to your furious denial and criticism, the very issues concerning the stealth injection of Islamism into the Texas curriculum you've now suddenly "discovered?" Why do you not acknowledge that you were in error and he was correct about the problem? Or do you think your readers have forgotten your past writings or are stupid, so you can slide home scot-free without taking responsibility for being wildly wrong?

This is sickening. Having lived in Texas, it is also alarming in that I have relatives there with little ones in school. Will be getting the info to them.

Because muslims are taught to lie, they work on non-believer's acceptance and trust by lying through their teeth in order to get past what would send up warnings if they told the truth about their objectives.

Rick Perry is not the only "conservative" who is unforgiveably myopic of the problem of Islam. In fact, it seems more than 50% of conservatives are that way; and the main reason for that is that PC MC is a much broader sociopolitical phenomenon than the terms "Leftism" or "liberalism" simple-mindedly suggest. I've been saying this 1,000 times in 1,000 different ways for years now, Every Which Way But Loose, and most of y'all still don't seem to get it.

Interesting information about CSCOPE.

"It is sponsored by CSCOPE a private corporation that claims exemption from school laws. CSCOPE is being funded by 19 of the 20 local Texas school districts (so the problem is at the district level, even deeper, than being reported)."

But who are the individuals in these districts acquiescing in, or even supporting, this? They can't all be ZZ Top/Willie Nelson/Austin City Limits/Ann Richardson type Texas "liberals". I'd wager many of them are "conservatives" like Perry and his dogged supporters who raked Robert Spencer and Pam Geller over the coals for daring to impugn a "conservative" (since we all know that only "liberals" and "Leftists" are the problem when it comes to the Western myopia of the danger of Islam, right?).

(Speaking of Texas "conservatives", it seems that Ross Perot has been strangely silent about Islam for years.)

Wise up: definition of Obama, Rick Perry. et al,

I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit
I am the emperor of lies, yet you grovel at my feet.
I rob you and I slaughter you, your downfall is my gain
And still you play the sycophant and you revel in your pain.
And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate
I am the supreme politician -- and I decide your fate.

And this piece only proves my point: GOP is out of ideas, lost and ruderless. And the Democratic party is no better, notching-up debacle after debacle, even though the liberal columnist Krugman tries to show it in somewhat better light. Still, even he admits that the 2 big no-good political dinosaurs will just go on with their ludicrous wrestling, to the great detriment of this country, because they don't know what else to do, and there's no one else there:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/14/opinion/krugman-the-gops-existential-crisis.html?_r=0

Both parties are totally rotten and have outlived their usefullness. The time is ripe for a third party. We the Resistance should launch our Center Party and plough right between them, wacking them left and right, pulling no punches. Just the no-holds barred condemnation of both parties' colossal blunders and vows to right them will make for a great platform. We should start our third party now, because if we don't, someone else will, and will lead our country in yet another wrong direction.

Ruslan Tokhchukov, EnragedSince1999.

It is common for U.K schools to teach a highly sanitized version of Islam. Well we don't want the kids to be exposed to the truth and have nightmares.

did a search for CSCOPE. very interesting info. How anyone could sign such a piece and keep silent is beyond me.

The "reason" for the secrets is bogus. The "marketplace" is awash with competition between businesses with the same services/products. And copyright laws apply to school texts. The writers just want to be able to spread islamic propaganda freely to the kids who have learned that the teacher, and esp computers, know more than mom or dad.

sorry for the duplicate comment...didn't press submit twice, but must have done something in error.

Also, if this is really connected to A21, as one site claims, this is another "reason" to keep it secret.

And the pc is rampant in all quarters. No one wants to be accused/guilty of being a rude bigot and not all are excused if they are guilty, or even just appear to be.

............................

Seems someone is messin' with Texas.

And is this found in Texas textbooks or in supplemental CSCOPE material, as Trailfan9 says? The latter is bad enough, but if these are the official Texas textbooks, it is even more catastrophic.

Texas textbooks are *very* influential, and are used by many smaller states who don't develop their own books.

Deeply troubling—and also utter bullsh*t. Even if one were opposed to the idea of American freedom, the Boston Tea Party killed no one—it just resulted in some highly taxed tea winding up in Boston harbor.

Trying to compare that to the savage murder of almost 3000 civilians and the destruction of one of our most iconic structures in order to impose totalitarian Islam is simple madness.

Grotesque whitewashing of a mass murdering pedophilic warlord. *Ugh*.

Also, the "growing gap"—never mentioned in the Qur'an, Hadith, or Sira, by the way—brings to mind echos of "Occupy", the "99%", and "social justice", which the presenters of this crap no doubt hope will resonate positively with these students.

Of course not!

I've tried to find who is behind CSCOPE, but things look pretty murky.
