U.S. pays $688 million in jizya to Pakistan for "war on terror expenses"

It has been abundantly established for years now that much of this money flows to the jihadists whom the Pakistanis are supposed to be fighting. But no one cares. It just keeps flowing.

"CSF: Pakistan receives $688m for ‘war on terror’ expenses," by Sumera Khan for the Express Tribune, December 29 (thanks to Block Ness):

Pakistan received US $688 million on Friday under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF), as reimbursement for the expenses of supporting over 150,000 coalition forces deployed on Pak-Afghan border.

Minister of State for Finance and Senator Saleem H Mandviwala confirmed the release of funds, along with spokespersons of the State Bank of Pakistan and the foreign office.

“After the Pentagon’s notification to the US Congress, it was quite obvious that the US would soon release the CSF amount to reimburse Pakistan’s expenses incurred during the war on terror… on Friday the amount has been received by our side,” a source in the foreign office said.

In August 2012, Pakistan had received $1.12 billion from the US under the fund. Sixty per cent of the fund is apportioned to the Pakistan Army while the remaining amount is used to meet the fiscal deficit of the economy.

According to an official source, Pakistan was under immense pressure as a result of its balance of payments schedule, and that the $688 million would help relieve the balance of payments position.

The US Deputy Defence Secretary Ashton Carter had notified Congress of the US Department of Defence’s decision in a letter on December 6. Seeking approval for the case, Carter had written in the letter that “In making this determination, I find that the reimbursement is consistent with the national security interest of the United States and will not adversely affect the balance of power in the region.”

The Defence Department’s spokesperson, George Little, also remarked that “This is a concrete illustration that our security relations with Pakistan are indeed moving forward.”...

It would be a lot simpler if Pakistan got their funding directly from China...

Is there an online training course for how to sell your conscience to the highest bidder? It seems to be a very lucrative occupation despite the field being glutted.

WTF?!!

And in 2 days we're going over the fiscal cliff?

There are madmen and women running things in the US.

We're doomed. Thank you very much, Obama voters.

I say we let it all burn and give the Pseudo-Marxist Obots get what they wish for. Again, I say this country is doomed. I'm going to China to work.

Be prepared to be laughed at in China. That we in the West are borrowing money from the Chinese to give to our enemies must seem hugely comical to them.

When are we going to bill Saudi Arabia for all of our terror/security-related costs as well as the Iraq and Afghan Wars???

I think $14 Trillion should do it.....

Referencing, David, extra specifically (young voters who voted for Obama in 2012), one would be hard pressed to come up with a better example in all of history of any group who voted against their own long term interests so comprehensibly.

Makes one wonder if democracy is doomed eventually when so many can vote so stupidily so eagerly. Perhaps Plato and Aristotle (no mean judges of things) were right after all to cast aspersions on the democratic experiment, though I still stand by Churchill's assessment, to wit, that democracy is the worst form of government with the exception of all other forms of government. But I'm sorely tested at times to consider that the Great Man (and the Founding Fathers of America and Cleisthenes and Themistocles and...) may have been wrong.

Hope you and yours have a fine New Year (in spite of the world and certainly not because of it). Take care, my friend.

Pakistanis, even after swalloing this huge amount of free money 'jiziya',will come out in droves and shout "Death to Amreeka". Obama wants to create a better name among Muslims for himself at the cost of Americans.

Yes. But there is another, very curious side to this. I write this reply to you from Las Vegas, Nevada, in a Day's Inn Motel. I just lost 13.85 USD on nickel slot machines.

It was well worth it.

I was immediately struck by the many CHINESE GAMBLERS (many seemed like transplants from Macau). There were multiple Maidong tables.
Parking lots full of new cars.

I asked my brother at the craps table, "Recession? What recession?".

Then it hit me. Much of that borrowed Chinese Yuan is being funnelled right back into the "American" economy! That doesn't address the issue of, then, handing all those "kwai" over to the nutjobs in Pakistan...but still - very curious.

Yes, PJG - I'm prepared to be laughed at.

Much more likely to be stared at, though, as I was in Beijing in 2005-2007. The Diamond-skinned White Man is still a bit of the odd bird in the Far East, I suspect, even on the verge of 2013...

He sure was 5 years ago. We'll see...

Well, as someone who was married to a mainland Chinese for many years, I can only say, "Good luck!" It's a battle of wills, in my opinion; it doesn't have to end badly.
And it hasn't, for me.

Oh...that doesn't sound good. I mean we get along now.

Why not? We've been arming and funding the jihadists in Syria. We didn't learn from Afghanistan. Realizing most people don't read in this country anymore there's a good movie Charlie Wilson's War that's very informative.

Surprised me.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are the most friendly countries of America and in my opinion the worst enemy as well. perhaps America will understand when they will destroy it completely. fiscal downfal of america is mostly due to global terrarism and two long wars which are sponsored by these two countries. Our poicymakers are either ignorant/stupid or following the policy of appeasement which will untimately end up in destruction.

Everybody should watch this documentary. It shows how culpable the US is and where we're heading. The parallels with the US were just scary. I really don't give a crap who doesn't like it but I pray every day for a scenerio like Vince Flynn's book "Term Limits". I get sick and tired of people saying they're for the "Democrats" or "Republicans". They're both totally and utterly corrupt. It's a "tag team" between the two of them going back and forth competing with each other seeing who can betray and screw over the American people the worst.I used to listen to Michael Medved. But his viscous, evil slamming of third parties to the exclusion of other Americans made me sick. What we've got is almost a dictatorship with the two party system and it's corruption. Yet the sheep, like Argentina, keep voting the traitors back in again and again and again. Just like it did this last time. Like India and its Caste System, how much sympathy should I have for the American people. It's almost an act of self flagulation.

Partner I'm not so sure of that.

I'm sure if I look in my Great Books I'll find a few examples, starting with; "If we don't learn from history, we're bound to repeat it."

You are quite correct but the American sheep people have been brainwashed to believe in there being only two choices, like as in football. Only thing is both the repubs and libs have much more in common than any differences. Otherwise you would have the other party objecting to any sending of jiyza to these 3rd world hellholes that hate America and it's people.

Even in the foreign policy debate Romanay was careful not to bring up Bangazi and the Obama lies. He was tripping over himself in agreeing with Obama on foreign policies. Romanay could have taken Obama to task for his many failures and won over many people, but he didn't and the American people didn't support him as a result of that.

Interesting you should say that. Here's a part of a comment I made elsewhere:

Every aspect of our lives is either taxed, fined, levied or otherwise over-regulated and we have both the Democrats and the Republicans to thank for this. It's almost as if it's some kind of Satanic Tag-Team going back and forth seeing who can screw over the American people the worst.

I use to listen to Michael Medved. But his vile, vicious slander of third parties to the exclusion of a significant segment of the American population is nothing short of support for the dictatorship that we now have under the two party system. Indeed; no others need apply.

Unbelievable. It took so long to load up it kept "timing out". So I resubmitted it...
