Is anybody buying the line that he needed to put in place an Islamic constitution before he could focus on the economic crisis?

Or does he simply mean the crisis is going to be solved by "legitimate" theft of Christian money?

What about the tourist industry? "Come to Egypt and experience genuine 14th Century dhimmi laws...donkeys only provided, no camels?"

Americans have crippling unemployment and an economy that is heading towards a depression. Yet, we are sending millions in aid to Egypt, a country that has demonstrated hostility towards us, to pull them out of their economic mess - this is insanity! Invest the $$$ billions in our own country. There a millions of Americans who are suffering right now. Gas prices are sky high, jobs are scare, food prices are going up, our housing market is frozen, we need help right here at home!! Stop sending our had earned tax-dollars abroad. Save America first

It's not just Egypt. The U.S. provides foreign aid to 150 countries,like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, then Egypt. We also support Jordan, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania, South Africa, Mexico, Colombia, and Sudan to name a few.All of them behave anti American to the core.
Considering the Middle Eastern countries receive the higher levels of aid for purposes of "fighting terrorism" , for security forces and military upgrades, and are led and influenced by Al Queda and the Taliban, why don't we just turn off the money flow to them, and use it where it can do the most good, for the greater good, right here in the U.S.A.?

In reality, Egypt has been lost since the seventh century. Barack Obama is nothing more than a very ignorant player upon the stage who has helped perpetuate this loss.

Secularism has no god strong enough to fight Allah. The opposition will fight for secularism in vain. Christians in Egypt mustn't help fight secularists; it only confuse the distinctions. It's the secularists who made Christianity an enemy in the West.

The US will drain its wealth in the perpetual fights against Islamists. It cannot totally win the fight because it depends on bribing Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar who in particular is the most evil and whom US relies too much, for going after Assad. Muslims rulers spend little for the job; they use most of the rest of the money to fund Islamic missionary abroad and shoring up the power within.

The Old Testament has already warned Christians and Jews that "In that day, I will make Jerusalem an immovable stone, nations who lift it will be hurt." Oslo did not pay heed and forced Israel to come to the table with its implacable enemy. Today Norway is all lost the Muslims; it fears the Muslims within. Norway lifted the stone and got hurt. US did the same; 911 took place, but it's only the tip of the ice burg. The worse is yet to come as it plays peace making between Israel and its enemy who intends but to annihilate the Jews.

No country is America's to lose or an American president's to lose. America doesn't own other countries. However, it is correct to say that Obama was instrumental in creating the environment where this disaster could happen and now America has truly lost anything resembling an ally in Egypt. And he did quite directly aid and abet the similar disasters which are shaping up across that region of the world.

But really, this is inevitable. Let's get real. America's supposed to endlessly funnel money and influence to prop up dictators who hold sway over hopelessly ignorant muslim majority populations? It's a doomed, losing proposition and completely artificial.

Frankly, history will be okay with Obama if he were to act now and cut off all future funding to Egypt. The question is will he and when will he? Pulling the legs out from an artificial dictator "ally" and letting the natural evil of the place take over, is only a reasonable and prudent thing to do if you don't now support and fund the natural evil that opposes you. It's Obama's move.

By the way, let's not assume that this administration considers Egypt a loss, given its often idealized view of Islam.

But taking the long view of history, I believe that Egypt began to be lost as soon as the Brits left—really, as soon as Islam came in, but that is a given.

I believe that much of the Muslim world retained a gloss of civility from Western influence which was often reflected in their laws—on paper, at least.

This was true of places such as Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, and Indonesia.

This civility has often been breached—in Egypt, it was breached almost immediately in that nation's attack on fledgling Israel in 1948—but it has also been steadily eroding over the past fifty or sixty years.

This will only "end political unrest" because it gives Mursi the tools under Shari'ah to totally silence Christians, women, secularists, and liberals.

And why does Egypt have a financial crisis? Because they had an Islamist revolution, and investors and tourists pulled out in droves, *that's* why. None of this will be improved with the imposition of Shari'ah.

For a while, as reports of strong protests against Shariah by secularist opposition were coming in, I really thought we might finally have another non - western nation that is secular, modern and democratic. Such a nation would have been the real natural ally of India (and NOT USA, as has been claimed by soft headed Indians).

It is unfortunate that no Muslim majority nation is yet ready to start decomissioning Islam from it's public life. I suppose we need to wait another couple of generations before we will have some more non - white nations that are also modern and democratic and with whom we can ally.

As of now, it is a lone grim battle for India against the jihadi mindset of Muslim world on the one hand and subtle and cynical subversion by racist west on the other.

How does this Reuter's story support the statement by RS that Obama lost Egypt? Neither the original Reuters report or RS's comment on it supports that allegation. RS loses credibility with such unsupported arguments.

It appears that many regulars here have low IQs. If one is going to make an assertion (such as the US State Dept is corrupt) then one ought to set forth facts and argument to buttress the assertion.
