Malaysia: Muslim leader threatens violence against Christians who use word "Allah"

Arabic-speaking Christians were using the word "Allah" to refer to the God of the Bible since before the invention of Islam. This does not in reality signify their Islamization or dhimmitude; it is just the word they have used. But now Islamic supremacists in Malaysia have made it into an issue, and Johor Islamic Religious Council Adviser Datuk Nooh Gadut is threatening violence against those who do not fall into line.

JOHOR BARU (Jan 12): Johor Islamic Religious Council Adviser Datuk Nooh Gadut today said those who allow the abuse of the word 'Allah' can be considered as apostates and should repent immediately.
He said the word 'Allah' was the exclusive right of Islam and Muslims.

"When the doctrine of tauhid was clearly stated in the Quran and Hadis, besides the ijmak ulamak, then there is no compromise.

"If one dares to violate the doctrine on purpose and while being in a rational state of mind, he can be considered as apostate and infidel," he told reporters after opening the seminar on endowment and inheritance planning in Islam, here today.

Present were President of Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim and as-Salihin Trustee Berhad chief executive officer Abdul Aziz Peru Mohamed.

Nooh said the Quran had clearly explained that 'Allah' was the exclusive word for Muslims as stated in Surah Al-Thaha verse 14 which means: "Verily, I am Allah. There is no god except Me. So worship Me and establish prayers for My remembrance."

"So, it is clear that whoever say that all religions are the same can be considered as an apostate.

"That is why when we talk about faith and the doctrines of the Quran, it cannot be based on political interpretation of either the opposition or the government," Nooh said.

He also rapped certain quarters for meddling with the social contract which had been the foundation for peace and harmony in the country.

"If the issue is not resolved soon, it can lead to chaos. To whom it may concern, do not cross the line because I'm sure one day the Muslims will lose their patience and will do anything to defend their faith," he added.

Hi. Question: In your title you wrote that Arabic-speaking Christians have been using the word "Allah" to refer to G-d since bwfore the invention of Islam. How is that possible is Allah was a pagan deity prior to Islam. I had assumed that Arabic speaking Christians would use Aramaic for the prayers and devotional words. I've noticed that Israeli Arab Christians also use "Allah", so that's why I'm asking...

Sounds like he thinks of the dhimma as being in force in Malaysia, with Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Confucians and Taoists being grandly 'tolerated' by Muslims so long as they knuckle under, do whatever the Muslims tell them, and never, never, never do anything to 'offend' or annoy Muslims - dda}.

{Hmm. 'Chaos'. He means 'fitna'. And we all know that verse that says that 'persecution' (that is, 'fitna') is worse than slaughter'...i.e. if the non-Muslims are perceived or claimed to be 'persecuting' the Muslims, upsetting them in any way, then that means it's okay to slaughter them, so as to remove the 'fitna'.

And, indeed, the rest of the speech is a not-so-veiled threat. - dda}

*What* patience? ROFLMAO. Judging from what I've seen, over the past ten years or so, of the normal behaviour of many, many adherents of the Religion of Perpetual Outrage, patience - in the sense of graciously putting up with annoyance and the annoying - is NOT a cardinal Muslim virtue. Muslims strike me as being more like the bully who struts about with a huge chip on his shoulder. They *always* have an excuse for an 'honor' murder, a riot, a bashing, a mobbing, a lynching, a bombing, a flag/ effigy-burning, a lawsuit, or a UN resolution.

The List of Things That Offend Muslims

I think that the author may even already have, on his long, long and ever-lengthening list of things all over the world that seem to jump out and bite Muslims, this Malaysian Muslim manufactured grievance concerning the use of the arabic-derived word 'allah', in the Malay-language Bible, to render the word that in English Bibles is rendered as 'God'.

I agree with the Muslims on this one. Christians should NOT be using the word 'Allah' for 'God'.
