#MyJihad in Brooklyn: Muslim gets fifteen years for trying to join jihad group

What's the big deal? He just wanted to get in his exercise!

"Brooklyn Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Terrorism Case," by Mosi Secret for the New York Times, January 8 (thanks to Block Ness):

A Brooklyn man who pleaded guilty to supporting a terrorist group after he was arrested trying to board a plane to the Middle East to wage jihad was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday.
The man, Agron Hasbajrami, an Albanian who had been living legally in Brooklyn since 2008, pleaded guilty in April to sending more than $1,000 to a contact in Pakistan to finance terrorist activities before deciding to travel abroad to join a radical Islamist terrorist organization, which was not named in court papers.

As a part of his plea agreement, prosecutors dropped three additional terrorism charges, which could have sent Mr. Hasbajrami, 28, to prison for life. He was sentenced to the maximum 15-year prison term on the single remaining charge.

Judge John Gleeson, who sentenced Mr. Hasbajrami in Federal District Court in Brooklyn, said he would have preferred to send him to prison for even longer.

“If I were the prosecutor, I wouldn’t have given you this deal,” Judge Gleeson said. “What you did is that serious a crime. It is that worthy of condemnation.”

Judge Gleeson was not persuaded by a lengthy apology made by Mr. Hasbajrami, who had been studying to become an architect. He told the judge that he was a good person, from a good family, who had made mistakes after becoming “overwhelmed by my emotions” in response to American foreign policy in Muslim countries. An impassioned plea by Mr. Hasbajrami’s lawyer, Steve Zissou, was no more persuasive.

Always the victim, always the passive reactor to non-Muslim enormities. A tired, tired act.

Mr. Hasbajrami was arrested in September 2011 attempting to board a plane to Istanbul, where he planned to meet with people who would help him reach the tribal areas of Pakistan. He had written in an e-mail to his contact there that he wanted to “marry with the girls in paradise,” which is often a reference to dying as a martyr while waging jihad....

what the difference if mr. hasbeenjammer, age 28, sends $1000 to pakistan, or if pResident o'bungle sends 16 fighter jets and 200 tanks to egypt for FREE, to drive over the Christians again, with the hellish "brotherhood" and sharia is charge? TREASON. same evil.

Who can forget those dark eyed beauties with those big natural assets...And those 'boys pure a pearls', anxious to please... what a joy that Allah has prepared...
Jihadi's are just dying to get in there...It's a tough way to get a girl friend or 72, but may be the only way the seriously deprived can get a date...Allah is wise and once in a great while forgiving...

Which country 'abroad' was he going to? The indictment says 'the Middle East', so...Syria? Yemen?

And to be frank, the sensible thing to do would have been to make sure that he *went*...and that he *arrived*, right there in whatever theatre of 'hot' jihad he was intending to get active in...and *then*, having made sure he was off American and Infidel premises, cancelled his residency permit (he is described as 'Albanian', not as American, so I am assuming that, let us be grateful for small mercies, he has not gained American citizenship) and set out to prevent him from *ever* being let back in to the USA or to any other part of the Lands of the Infidels.

Let 'em go! Let 'em go! Just...DON'T LET THEM BACK IN.

Post scriptum: I hope an investigation has been undertaken, or is being undertaken, into his antecedents and associates and the exact circumstances under which he came to the USA in the first place, and obtained residency.

Once he has served his sentence, he should be deported, back to Albania.
