It's lovely when your enemy, in this case that spiritual fascism which goes by the name of Islam, hands you a weapon they did not realize is a weapon. Well, the "MyJihad" garbage is just such a weapon. Playing it for all it's worth is a sound thing to do for those who cherish good stuff like, let's see, freedom of speech, freedon of religion, equality under the law and women's rights.

In the U.S. there are a lot of Muslims and people connected with Muslims who probably are not interested in supporting jihad or sharia, but also don't care that much about freedom of speech, at least not if standing for freedom of speech means publicly acknowledging the fact that Islam is a totalitarian system with totalitarian leadership. The bystander Muslims I'm talking about would rather support whitewashing like CAIR's propaganda campaigns, because otherwise Muslims would in some way eventually be called to account by the legal, economic, and cultural systems of the U.S. The bystander Muslims naturally don't want that. They want to protect their "investments" -- their comfy life in the U.S., the prosperity they have here, their social life. So they are willing to support Islamic totalitarianism's propaganda campaigns. They know they can't really challenge the jihadist sharia Muslims anyway, because the jihadist-sharia presentation of Islam has the core Islamic texts on its side, not to mention a majority of the world's Muslims (as shown by polls of global Muslim opinion); and the jihadists also have the advantage of being willing to brutalize and terrorize any Muslim who resists too publicly.

But the bystander Muslims evidently don't really care to escape Islam, as most of them evidently don't care that much about freedom, which if they think about it at all, perhaps they rationalize it away as just an abstraction, or even if not, a reality that should not be taken to "extremes"; and anyway, the growth of Islam in the U.S. will only whittle away slowly at freedoms here, perhaps very slowly, or so some of them no doubt tell themselves. They know well that the cost of leaving Islam is too high. Even if they don't get killed, they often face harsh and total rejections by Muslim family, Muslim friends, and Muslim community, and a threat of death lurking forever at their backs, since they will have an intuitive, if not always fully conscious, awareness of Muhammad's teaching that apostates from Islam must be killed. They will also be aware that Allah tortures apostates in the most terrifying ways in hell. And they will in many cases have been well-educated by the sometimes subtle but generally intense and frightening reactions of parents and/or elders to any suggestion of apostasy or blasphemy. So, unsurprisingly, the bystander Muslims just want to be left alone to stay Muslims and live comfy in the U.S., and are willing to support propaganda campaigns to whitewash Islam, if that will protect their investment in life here. And they don't care if Islam spreads deeper into the U.S., in fact they want it to get more secure roots here, despite what that will mean, and what Islam has already meant for free speech in the U.S. (Some will have already seen this list of links to news stories about public institutions and public figures that have suffered Muslim violence and death threats and have self-censored in response.)

Addendum to my 10:26 pm comment:

I wonder how many Muslims are willing to secretly turn in jihadists to law-enforcement. One notices that a lot of the jihad plots seem to be discovered in advance and stopped. How are these plots being infiltrated by law enforcement? How penetrated is the Muslim community by eyes for law enforcement? Sometimes one gets the feeling that the penetration is all-pervasive. How much infiltration is carried on by Muslim officers or Muslim informants? It would be great to have stats on such things.

The "bystander Muslims" I described in my 10:26 pm comment may sometimes simultaneously support Islam whitewashing campaigns AND secretly support law-enforcement's efforts to catch jihadists. Such bystander Muslims, in order to protect and enhance their own material and familial interests, probably seek to appease any powers that they fear, whether Muslim powers or non-Muslim powers, more or less regardless of principle, though not without some preference for Muslim powers and some contempt for non-Muslim powers. A mix of completely amoral expediency on the one hand, with religious motivation on the other. In the case of many bystander Muslims, expediency may be the bigger factor.

Obama threatened to cut off aid to the Egyptian army if they didn't overthrow Mubarak. Why hasn't he threatened to cut off aid if they don't stop persecuting the Christians?
