Syrian rebels: "We want a regime that applies sharia law"

"What's happening is a reaction to Assad saying Syria was a secular state." There is an analysis of the cause of the Syria uprisings that has never been discussed in any depth in the mainstream media.

"After Assad, is strict Islamic rule ahead for Syria?," by Tom A. Peter for USA TODAY, January 3 (thanks to AINA):

ALEPPO, Syria — The voice of Islamist groups is growing louder in Syria as a number of Syrians in the battleground province of Aleppo are expressing increasing interest in establishing a government that leans toward a strict Islamic state....

The U.S. State Department implicitly recognized the growing influence of extremist groups in Syria last month when it designated as a terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra, which is fighting the Assad regime in Syria. The State Department said the group's ties with the group al-Qaeda in Iraq were among the main reasons for its decision.

While many in Syria look upon Jabhat al-Nusra with trepidation, it has won support among many Syrians who see it as both an effective military organization and a generous humanitarian group.

"Through aid, Jabhat al-Nusra can enlarge its base of public support more and more," said Abu Ali, a Syrian involved in relief efforts in Aleppo. "Many people are starting to support them because of the aid."

Among its ranks are Syrians and foreign fighters who have battle experience in Iraq and elsewhere, according to the State Department. Jabhat al-Nusra receives considerable funding from Persian Gulf states such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia, according to several news reports.

The funding has allowed Jabhat al-Nusra to increase operations in Syria at a time when moderate groups simply lack the resources, rebel commanders say....

"If it continues like it is now, groups like Jabhat al-Nusra will have a lot of influence after the Assad government falls," said Abdul Rahman, an opposition military commander in Aleppo who considers himself a moderate.

Even some Syrians who want an Islamic state in a post-Assad Syria view groups such as Jabhat al-Nusra as extreme.

One former member, Abu Osama, said he left the group after it tried to get him to sign an oath pledging to fight with the group anywhere in the world. Now fighting with the rebel Free Syrian Army, Abu said some fighters with Jabhat al-Nusra consider Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, an infidel because he has not enforced sharia — strict Islamic law — in Egypt.

The group, which forbids tobacco use, has also been known to pull cigarettes out of the mouths of smokers going through their checkpoints.

Not everyone thinks Jabhat al-Nusra will have significant influence in a post-Assad Syria.

"These groups are no more scary to us and the general population than fringe groups in the U.S. like the skinheads," said Abu Ahmad, executive officer of the Free Lawyers Association in Aleppo, which opposes Assad's regime.

After 40 years of the Assad family's harsh rule, Syrians simply want a government that is the opposite of what they've known, Ahmad said.

"What's happening is a reaction to Assad saying Syria was a secular state," Ahmad said.

Few Syrians interviewed in Aleppo believe that a brand of Islam like that practiced by Jabhat al-Nusra can survive in Syria. Even so, any regime that succeeds Assad is likely to be Islamic in nature, some Syrians say.

"We want a regime that applies sharia law, but that is fair and just," said Abu Mohammad, a Free Syrian Army commander in Aleppo and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Many Muslims believe that if we apply the true Islam, we can use it to get rid of corruption and problems like bribery," he said.

As some readers know, sharia is plumb full of stuff that is only of interest to Mahoundians...
When they are talking sharia, they are not talking about those parts but the legal and penal aspects...Death for apostasy, blasphemy, homosexuality and so forth...It won't go good for you if you war with Allah or spread mischief in the land...That's their sharia...the painful and bloody part...

Syrian rebels want a regime that applies Sharia law?

Isn't the "Arab Spring", hailed by nearly all of the "intelligentsia" and "media" becoming a rousing success just like they predicted it would be! Special thanks go out to Obama himself, of course. Thanks Hussein!

But maybe these and the other newly forming Slaves of Allah Sharia States will become our friends if we only show enough respect and accommodation for Islam. And if we're lucky, maybe they won't want to make us official dhimmis this time around. Or, maybe that's being a little too optimistic and unrealistic....

We ex-Muslims living with Islam's formal and informal death penalty for apostasy know for certain that Islam is a horrendous fraud.

>>>>>

20 rules for dhimmis

With zombie-like obedience, the Islamic scholars and khalifas followed murderous little Muhammad's every word and deed and elaborated upon the dictates of the Qur'an which are to be applied in jihad against those who do not accept Islam nor agree to pay the Jizya. The infidel males capable of bearing arms are to be massacred; the infidel women and children are to be enslaved; the movable properties of the infidels are to be plundered; their lands are to be expropriated; their places of worship are to be destroyed; their priests and monks are to be killed and their scriptures burnt.

Those who agree to pay Jizya are to be treated as dhimmis who are allowed to live and work for the Islamic state under the following 20 disabilities: (1) they are not to build any new places of worship; (2) they are not to repair any old places of worship which have been destroyed by the Muslims; (3) they are not to prevent Muslim travellers from staying in their places of worship; (4) they are to entertain for three days any Muslim who wants to stay in their homes, and for a longer period if the Muslim falls ill; (5) they are not to harbour any hostility towards the Islamic state, or give any aid and comfort to hostile elements; (6) they are not to prevent any one of them from getting converted to Islam; (7) they have to show respect towards every Muslim; (8) they have to allow Muslims to participate in their private meetings; (9) they are not to dress like Muslims; (10) they are not to name themselves with Muslim names; (11) they are not to ride on horses with saddle and bridle; (12) they are not to possess arms; (13) they are not to wear signet rings or seals on their fingers; (14) they are not to sell or drink liquor openly; (15) they are to wear a distinctive dress which shows their inferior status, and which separates them from the Muslims; (16) they are not to propagate their customs and usages amongst the Muslims; (17) they are not to build their houses in the neighbourhood of Muslims; (18) they are not to bring their dead near the graveyards of the Muslims; (19) they are not to observe their religious practices publicly, or mourn their dead loudly; and (20) they are not to buy Muslim slaves.

The “law” of Islam also prescribes death penalty for those who (1) question the exclusive claim of Islam as the only true religion, and of Muhammad as the last prophet; (2) try to revert to their ancestral faith after having been forced or lured to embrace Islam; and (3) marry Muslim women without first getting converted to Islam. Non-Muslims are also discriminated against in matters of testimony in law courts, taxation, and appointment to public offices. To sum up, the status of non-Muslims in an Islamic state is that of hewers of wood and drawers of water. They are subjected to every possible indignity and pressure in order to force them into the fold of Islam.

Through aid, Jabhat al-Nusra can enlarge its base of public support more and more," said Abu Ali, a Syrian involved in relief efforts in Aleppo. "Many people are starting to support them because of the aid."

Like Ms. Geller said on Atlas Shrugs (apropos of American voters for the meretricious Obama) people want to grab 'free stuff' and the devil take the hindmost.

And in Syria, these fools who are supping with the devil will need a **very** long spoon. They have welcomed in evil for the sake of 'free stuff', so really what they get serves them right, I can't muster up any pity.

''These groups are no more scary to us and the general population than fringe groups in the U.S. like the skinheads," said Abu Ahmad, executive officer of the Free Lawyers Association in Aleppo, which opposes Assad's regime.''

People never learn, do they ? I'm sure plenty of Germans thought that in 1932. And Egyptians. And Iranians, and Lebanese and Afghans and ... oh, well.

'' Few Syrians interviewed in Aleppo believe that a brand of Islam like that practiced by Jabhat al-Nusra can survive in Syria''

They don't believe it because at the moment they don't **want** to believe it. Time will show them, and then it will be too late.

"We want a regime that applies sharia law, but that is fair and just," ...''

Do these people ever actually **read** their own stupid koran, or the hadiths, or listen to their own sheiks and imams ? Clearly not.

sharia and the words ''fair and just'' are a contradiction in terms. Just exactly how stupid **are** these people ?

"Many Muslims believe that if we apply the true Islam, we can use it to get rid of corruption and problems like bribery," he said.''

The 'true islam' ?? There is no 'true' islam, it's all islam. Some mohammedans just don't practice it as they should.

Get rid of corruption and bribery ? Corruption flows through islam and sharia like a rancid sewer. 'true islam', whatever that may be, isn't going to change that.

The fools are headed down the same road as Egypt and Iran. Welcome to the wonderful world of sharia. FGM, amputations, beheadings, acid attacks, burkas, child rape, woo hoo.

The thing is, whenever you see words like 'fair' and 'just' and 'corruption', just to name a few, in the mouths of people within the Ummah, you are probably wisest to assume that the Islamspeak definitions of these terms apply.

That is, they just don't *mean*, by something like 'corruption', what *we* mean.

In Islamspeak, 'corruption' has a special, technical meaning. It means 'anything that is not-Islam, anything not in conformity with sharia, anything that might cause Muslims to be less Islamic or to leave Islam'.

You're right. I keep forgetting 'islamspeak' is analogous to 'newspeak'.
